I eat here regularly with my daughter, when she has a day off work. The food is always lovely. Main meals offer vegan/ vegetarian/gluten free options, There is good choice of cakes and drinks. The home made soups are always really nice and the staff are really friendly and helpful. The menu isn't massive, but I wouldn't expect it to be in this setting and prices comparable to other cafes in the local / surrounding area .

We visited today, the lakes and park are fantastic. The cafe is a nice space, however the food is very of very poor quality and totally over priced. It cost just shy of £35 2 hot chocolate drinks, 3 teas. 1 child lunch box (no drink included) tiny pack of crisps, tiny choc bar, tiny apple and an uninspired sandwich 1 child’s nugget and chips ( 3 nuggets) 2 bacon baps 1 veggie bacon, 4 small strips of very burnt veggie bacon

Been meaning to go to stanwick .And craft weekend was on so even better. Loved the walks and lakes. The cafe sadly was overpriced .3.50 for tiny pot tea carrot had enough for one let alone two . Saw the offer was on for a bacon roll the queue was v long and half hour wait so decided go walk then come back .hungry I managed get a table hubby queued up one in front had their order refused as chef had audibly shouted out no more !! I am in my own that's it no more orders .So hubby had to walk away slightly embarrassed at the scene. . We had to go into wellingborough to have lunch .I can understand the chefs stress at being left to cook alone on such a busy weekend. Don't really understand why there weren't more staff to help in the kitchen. Knowing the amount of people would be visiting . Overall found prices very expensive and not a good experience watching staff having a meltdown. But can feel sympathetic at his plight coping.

Totally disorganised despite being plenty of staff. A long queue with one person serving and making drinks until a light bulb moment and another member of staff assisted by making the hot drinks. 10 minutes for a tea and coffee. 20 minutes for a meagre, very disappointing bacon roll. Waste of money.

This could be a much better cafe if the staff seemed to take an interest in the needs of their customers. No service here with a smile or a thank you. No air conditioning making it an uncomfortable experience to dine there on a warm day. The pricing is set too high for the level of service this establishment offers.

Situated inside the visitor centre of Stanwick Lakes, we stopped at Cafe Solar for afternoon tea. A small selection of cakes, scones and sweets were available. The outdoor deck overlooking the lake is great to sit in. Thanks to someone’s suggestion we had lunch elsewhere on our bike trail and not at the cafe as we had intended to.

Went inside to the café Solar at Stanwick lakes . but the queue was horrendous. Left site for lunch shame - on such a sunny October day why no more staff on duty ?

I tend to fret about cafes attached to a country park; there's a tendency to overcharge for the most basic of foodstuff. But, Café Solar is an exception. I thought the Panini and chips were good value and the hot drinks too. There's a bit of a wait, but that's to be expected at lunchtime. Have patience and relax; that's what being in the country does to you!

Within the Stanwick Lakes visitor centre offering things like tea/coffees , sandwiches, paninis and a few hot sbacks . The food is good but has an added bonus of overlooking the lake with huge panoramic windows there is even an outer deck if the weathers ok or there is a so called quieter area upstairs but due to the nature of the building , it is far from quiet and gets rather hot when busy.

My daughter and I took my parents to Cafe Solar for lunch yesterday. It was in celebration of their 66th wedding anniversary. The weather was beautiful, warm and sunny, so we decided to sit outside on the balcony looking out over the crystal clear waters of Stanwick lake, it was idyllic. (This was actually our only option anyway as my daughter had her little dog with her. Dogs are welcome but in the outside dining area only). For lunch my father and I settled on fish and chips, while my daughter and mother opted for the afternoon tea. PLEASE NOTE The menu card contained limited information and was really surplus to requirements. You really do need to venture inside the cafe for the full available choices. While we were waiting for our order, we began chatting to the people on the next table. It turned out that they were at Cafe Solar celebrating their 55th wedding anniversary, on the same day as my parents. The reason I'm telling you this is because if you have are celebrating a special occasion and you love the great outdoors, what better place to visit. If you're not driving, and you fancy a glass of wine, I noticed that alcohol was available. When the food arrived it looked lovely and appetising, especially the well presented afternoon tea. Everything was really good until the point when my mother and daughter tried the scones which they found to be very dry. I told a member of staff who were very apologetic. 20 minutes later The catering manager produced freshly baked replacements. These were delicious and well worth waiting for. The jam and clotted cream just melted into the scones. Our bill for lunch came to £38 for the 4 of us (no alcohol). Not exactly an inexpensive lunch but the surroundings made it well worth the money, together with the helpfulness of the staff. I would definitely return to Cafe Solar.

This is a busy and thriving cafe. Busy but there are lots of tables so no problem getting a seat. There is a reasonable selection on the menu and the views over the lakes are stunning. Well worth a visit.

My friend and myself enjoyed a bracing walk around stanwick lakes with our babies before going to the cafe for a warm up and refuel! The environment is very light, airy and inviting. There were plenty of tables and stunning views from the huge windows. We ordered at the counter - a mocha, a pot of tea, a scone and mince pie. All were really delicious - and enjoyed. We plan to stay for lunch next time - fayre on offer included 'curry of the day' or baked potatoes and paninis - all looked to be pretty fairly priced too. The lakes themselves and cafe solar are both Highly recommended!

Generally food okay, overpriced. Menu recently changed to autumn/winter menu and it has no options anymore really. What I don't rate is the staff and two issues small tiny issues I have had. I have said I will not eat there again, but got persuaded to recently and I got a bit irked.First time, I got my daughter a children's lunchbox, crisps were either wotsits or quavers both due to allergies my daughter cannot have. I asked for them to be changed to either plain or salt and vinegar and was met with the reply 'no because our other crisps are handmade and much more expensive.' No refund offered. In this day and age not to have options is silly.Second and most recent trip, a friend had a voucher for adult meal and children's box for a pound, learning my lesson previously about the child's lunch box I asked for a just a sausage roll instead of the box. although cheaper was met again with a No. I understand they have rules and stuff to follow, but the staff don't seem to have any flexibility or power to make any changes. So basically, if you have allergies or intolerances do not bother as they wont bend.

We had a lovely light breakfast, consisting of a lovely Bacon (BLT) Rustic Roll, a Muffin, a latte and a lovely cup of tea, and watched the birds on the lake. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere , very relaxing. A bit pricey, but could not fault the food. I would recommend to all.

I stayed at The Royal Oak for one night whilst on a business trip. I also was fortunate enough to enjoy dinner and breakfast there. The staff were super helpful and friendly and both meals delicious. I have a couple of special dietary requirements and everyone was extremely accommodating. My room and bathroom were very clean and beautifully appointed. I would like to mention Emma on Reception who was particularly helpful during my stay I highly recommend The Royal Oak.

Staff were friendly enough, service was prompt, however I got a paltry amount of chips to compliment my "chicken" burger....no salad or owt. The meat was actually beef, which wouldn't have been an issue in itself, but the accompanying roll and 'toppings' were for a chicken burger, so I had mayo & lettuce on my beefburger. Not great, not even sure how that went so wrong and wasn't picked up by anyone. Photo shows the combination received, and the largely empty plate, can only imagine the focus was on the brioche branding.

No words can describe how fantastic this pub is, this has become our regular and we have no faults! food is fantastic, we have started doing the bottomless gin afternoon tea ,again fantastic, great supply of Gin well looked after, cakes to die for! Highly recommend! Staff are fantastic and very welcoming! Location of the pub is great, sit in the comfort of the country pub or down by the river overlooking fields. Highly recommend this pub :)

Seeing as my review was removed I will try again! Stay away. I went to the so called “quiz night” and it was awful. You would have found a better atmosphere in a morgue. Hardly any there, no music, vile smell and it was dirty. I use to frequent the pub before lockdown and it was fantastic. It has apparently changed hands since and not for the better. I will definitely not be going back. The smell and filth were enough to put me off my beer let alone dreary feel to the place. Very sad to say that I will not be recommending a once lovely pub
