Cafe Sicilia in Dundee City

Don’t be put off by the rather plain interior: You will get a great coffee here and it’s much cheaper than most of the other coffee shops on the Perth Road.

This is no longer Cafe Sicilia Ltd, it is now Italian Coffee Shop. Not a great selection of food compared to their predecessors. Service was slow due to girl being trained and only 2 persons working. Price was a bit high £14.80 for 2 Carmel Lattes and 2 Lemon muffins. We were 2 of 3 persons in the shop therefore no atmosphere.

Unfortunately Sicilia now closed and new cafe now opened. Mi Italian Cafe, limited menu and in the process of getting a licence for drinks. Still early days.

Fantastic meal, by far the best place we have eaten in Dundee. Staff very friendly. My girl was very happy with her spag bol (and a very generous portion too!) but was even happier with her brownie. INothing too much trouble for them - whipped her up cream when she asked if they had any.Prices very reasonable. We will be back next time we are in Dundee.

This long-standing restaurant never fails to impress. The food is authentically Italian, the service and atmosphere excellent. I cannot fault it ever. Had the tastiest salmon linguine I have ever tasted anywhere. Highly recommended.

Coffee here is good, as are the snacks. My friend had arancini, I had a sourdough italian sausage sandwich. Both were pleasant enough. Minor downside is the cafe is cash only. Which is fine if you have any.

I ordered a munchie box which consisted of calamari, bolognese, focaccia, arancini, mozzarella sticks and chips.The calamari was indistinguishable from rubber, the focaccia was burnt, the arancini was simply repulsive and the mozzarella sticks you’d have been better eating cardboard, it’d have more flavour and a nicer texture. As for the bolognese, it was okay but nothing to write home about. Chips were what you would expect.All in all a real shame, as I had high expectations after reading reviews suggesting the food was absolutely excellent.Undoubtedly a 1/5.

Good value,great food and lovely staff. It's a small place with a good menu, they sorted out a high chair for our visit and couldn't have made us feel more welcome.

Absolutely the best food I've ever tasted, all home cooked, delicious meals. Had our Christmas lunch here from work and it didn't disappoint. Small cafe, but amazing food plus desserts, service is fab. Very inexpensive, can't wait to return.

Comí mi almuerzo de Navidad aquí y me sorprendió la calidad de la comida. Muy buen tamaño de porción, servicio económico y fabuloso. Las camareras eran muy amables y serviciales. El plato de Pollo Marsala es tan sabroso que podría haber comido otro si no estuviera tan lleno. Los postres también son increíbles. No puedo esperar para volver a visitar pronto.

Una cálida bienvenida le da la bienvenida en este pequeño café / restaurante sin pretensiones. Hoy tuve risotto con salchichas y pimientos sicilianos que estaba muy sabroso. El pollo en una salsa de crema con vino marsala servido con cuñas picantes y ensalada también es delicioso. Las porciones son generosas y todo el menú ofrece una excelente relación calidad-precio. Los pasteles caseros son irrisibles y el café, con mucho, el mejor que he probado en Dundee.

Having been here before and enjoyed our dining experience we knew we wouldn't be disappointed. Everyone (5 of us) had a lovely meal. The service was excellent and there was nothing that we could find fault with. Our waiter even said goodnight and enjoy your evening as he was finishing his shift. $ of us ate the beef rolls which was on the specials board. It was akin to a beef olive but filled with mozzarella instead of stuffing. The other 2 meals was a pasta dish and my good lady went for the lasagne which she said the last time she was here was the best ever and this time it lived up to her last comment. Everyone else had the tiramisu for dessert except myself who opted for the strawberry cheesecake. The bill came to £123 which included 2 bottles of wine, a glass of wine and 4 coffees.

Ate lunch here recently and no regrets about giving this relaxed little Italian Cafe a try.We had 3 courses, a bottle of wine and coffee - it was excellent value for money. The bruschetta we had for starters were delicious, I had cannelloni for main which was superb and my friend couldn’t fault her chicken Marsala. The coffee was great too. Really loved the relaxed casual atmosphere, it’s the sort of place you could pop in for coffee and cake or enjoy a full meal like we did.The service was great too, friendly and efficient.Can’t wait to return.

Esta es una pequeña cafetería / restaurante y uno de nuestros favoritos en Dundee. El personal también es muy amable.

Had a fantastic lunch today, the Marsala chicken was delicious and my husband had the special spicy salami pasta, oh oh oh and the chocolate cherry cake was fabulous,. Lovely bottle of chianti too,well worth a visit

Passed this cafe numerous times but only recently visited for the first time. Its small but a friendly atmosphere and the food is excellent and at a very reasonable cost. Well worth a visit

We dropped in early on a cold Friday night. There was only one table full, but this soon changed and by the time we left all tables were full. There was a good turnover, so although booking possible, it’s likely you can get a table without too long a wait. The staff were excellent throughout the meal- knowledgeable and helpful. We had the shared anti pasta to start. This was good quality and the bit of Scottish salmon a nice local touch. We t hen had the specials. I had the pork escalope with anchovies and cheeses on a bed of wheat potato and courgette. This was just excellent and reminded me of trips to Sicily. My husband had the chicken with masala sauce and potatoes wedges again excellent. The wine list was simple and well priced. We had the Nero d’avola, at 15.00 good value. The meal was very reasonably priced. It was a great meal and a nice start to our Friday night.

2nd time here and we love it. Small place, lovely staff. The pizzas are fantastic. I had ham and mushroom and it was delicious. The mushroom soup was also great to start, thoroughly recommend you try this place.

We popped in for the first time last Friday for an early dinner and it won't be the last time we go. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and attentive but not intrusive throughout. We had three courses and a bottle of wine - total bill £55. The food itself was excellent, freshly cooked and good sizes portions. I liked the idea for the main course of having different types of pasta recommended for a specific dish, in other restaurants you usually just get what is on the menu. Definitely going back.

Popped in here for lunch on the recommendation of a friend and wasn't disappointed. Had a very nice ciabatta panini and a cheeky beer. Friendly serving staff and nice, clean toilets. Worth a visit.

me and my boyfriend walked down to takeaway some lunch, after preparing our food and drinks we realized there was not a card machine, we had no cash with us, and only a credit card so could not take money out. my boyfriend had to run home and get his bank card to take some cash out so we could pay for our food, the staff were very friendly about it. and didnt at any point make us feel bad. And the food was delicious, especially the brownies

This time I was with my daughter and 3 grandsons who all had healthy appetites. We were well satisfied with our light traditional Sicilian snacks.

I have now been to this café a few times with my family and I have been really impressed with it. There breakfasts are really nice and they do have a small and delicious lunch option. However, the best is the dinner menu which they do on some evenings. The service is really good and there is plenty on the menu for all ages, from pizza to many different pasta dishes. Everything tastes so fresh and although you have to wait a bit, it is worth it when the end result comes out. They also have a range of deserts and the quality of them is no different to the high quality of the meal before.I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a tasty and good quality meal.

Visited this cafe the other day with my boyfriend and we had such a great experience! The food was delicious and the coffee was great. They even had a variety of Italian pastries for chow down on after you eat!! We went in the afternoon so it wasn't busy, which was pretty surprising because we thought because of the quality of food and how cute the place was it would be packed with people! I definitely recommend visiting this little hidden gem in Dundee!

Had dinner with friends. The service was excellent from the minute we walked in the door. Waiter was friendly, knowledgeable and happy to make recommendations. Food was very nice and fantastic value. 4 starters, 4 mains, 2 sweets, 3 bottles of wine for just over £100. Will definitely visit again.

Have visited for years, although never in evenings. The food is continuously good. We always choose one of the Daily Specials and have yet to be disappointed. You can have two mains, two soft drinks and share a pudding for less than twenty pounds. The decor is simple but the staff and food are quality.

I was there few times to have an Italian pizza with friends.This is definitely the best pizza I ate in Dundee. The cake selection was really good too.The food is not too expensive and the staff is really nice.Recommended if you want to enjoy some real Italian pizza! (the place has just few tables, so it's better to book in advance, especially during the weekend)

My partner and I dined here for the 1st time after a trip to the cinema.We called to say running late and they were very pleasant saying it wasn't a problem.Everyone was so nice and helpful, the food was homemade, delicious and full of flavour.An enjoyable relaxed atmosphere.Now we have discovered Cafe Sicilia we'll definitely be back.

Had a lovely meal here on the recommendation of another couple who had been before.As in previous reviews you would easily walk past as there is nothing flashy about this establishment.....WHAT A BIG MISTAKE.This little cafe/eatery is a wee gem. Friendly staff, reasonable prices, great food.The pizzas looked amazing, my wife had the lasagne and she said it was the best ever. I had risotto and it was creamy and tasty. There is a good mix of starters and the tiramisu is to die for. Our bill for 6 including drinks was £126.I for one will be back.

There is nothing more satisfying than good food, service and value for money. We needed somewhere to eat in Dundee pre-theatre, and were absolutely delighted when we discovered Cafe Sicilian. As we arrived too early for our reservation, we decided to visit the nearby shops. The lady who owns a fabulous little shop nearby, (if you are in the area, it's well worth a look, Bella. Beautiful gifts, handbags, jewellery and hand painted furniture) confirmed that our choice of restaurant was commended! Initially, when I called to make a reservation, the member of staff was exceptionally helpful. He acknowledged that we were pre-theatre and guaranteed we would be served in good time. This little cafe restaurant, was a diamond if a find. Being very honest, from the outside it's not glamorous or inviting but please do not be put off. The food was exceptional. Everything we had was homemade. The desserts were scrummy and the coffee, one of the finest. Apologies, as there are no photographs of the food! We were five, chatty friends who spent our evening correlating and comparing our delicious food. The bonus being the final bill came to under £100. Exceptional value for money. We will be back.

My friends and I were here for lunch and we were disappointed at the portion sizes, the food we recieved tasted nice but definitely didn't fill us up.

We've been here before a few times, and will no doubt be back again. The decor is rather basic - cheap and cheerful, to be honest - but the food is tasty and the staff welcoming. We all had pasta, with an interesting variety of fillings. The sweets were delicious and well worth it - the apple pie and ice cream was my favourite - it sounds rather ordinary, but was anything but. So if you want good food that isn't too expensive in the west end of Dundee, this is for you!

Walked passed this cafe many times whilst living in the West End but never had an opportunity to visit. Finally went for lunch yesterday and it lives up to the many, many positive reviews. Lovely little cafe with fantastic food and service. It may not look much from the outside but is most definitely worth a visit. The mushroom arancini was delicious and whilst I'm not particularly sweet toothed the cakes and desserts are irresistible, can't wait to return, I'll be a regular visited now!

I love this place. It's a Cafe come restaurant which opens in the morning and sells very cheap and incredibly amazing coffee. They have a fanatic range of tarts arrancini (which are truly amazing) and then have pizza and pasta and more on the full menu. Perfect any time of yeh day this restaurant is delicious serving homemade fresh food in a traditional Italian and Sicilian fashion. Very reasonable priced super friendly Staff and super tasty food. Delicious. Cannot recommend the coffee and yeh arrancini highly enough super tasty.

Sicilia is by far my favorite cafe in Dundee, and every time I've been there (around 10 times in total) the food and coffee were sublime! All food is prepared freshly in the cafe, and the value is great for the quality of food. I would definitely recommend all the savory pastries. From the sweet ones I tried only the tiramisu with limoncello infused biscuits and it was the best tiramisu I've tried! Not too sweet, not too bitter, not too alcoholic, just perfect balance. Would definitely recommend, especially for lunch and for a good coffee with friends.

I took my grandparents and my 8 month old baby to the cafe and even though the menu is set for the day, they were more than willing to alter dishes according to what we wanted! My little one got a lovely egg sandwich, freshly made with wholemeal toast and freshly fried egg! And our pasta and salad were just finger licking good! Afterwards, we took deserts to go, and I couldn't wait to get home, my tiramisu vanished in the car :) Price?? Amazingly affordable!!! We will be back

Very friendly and helpful staff. Food is fabulous, an undiscovered gem. Looks nothing from the outside really but definitely worth going in! Cafe style, so don't expect posh service (though service is excellent) and table cloths but the food is excellent with reasonably priced good house wine. Desserts are delicious too, highly recommend Apple pastry and cheesecake! Also great coffees. Highly recommended.

Heading home after a day out we decided to pop in instead of cooking what a delight and so reasonably priced, the staff were friendly and efficient, began with beautiful ascolano and enormous arancini filled with bolognese both starters were bursting with flavour followed by mouth watering pasta one with mushrooms and the other prawns washed down with a very reasonable bottle of Nero d'avola the whole meal rounded off with sublime double espressos all topped off by the bill only coming to a ridiculously reasonable £45.45. Okay its not Malmaison or Castlehill but nor is it trying to be it is a great user friendly Italian bistro which serves delicious food we hope to return frequently they are only open in the evenings on Friday and Saturday unfortunately but if you are in the area and want some good value great tasting Italian food this is the place to head to

Really delicious lunch. Didn't fancy the pasta special and the waitress was so kind - she did me an amazing lasagne which wasn't even on the menu! Absolutely delicious. Everything was fantastic - hugely recommend the coffee and brownie! Will be back soon.

This small cosy café offers a nice selection of food, with lovely home-made baking. This is one of my husband's favourite cafe's as it caters so well for veggies. I enjoyed the food and would return.

Went with family after work on a Friday evening and were all impressed by the food, service and relaxed and friendly atmosphere. It offers the expected range of pizza and pasta dishes as well as a selection of meat and fish plates. there are some Sicilian specialities (such as Arancine - rice balls stuffed with a choice of bolognese or mushroom and ricotta) and Cannoli you won't find readily in other Italians. My lasagne was superb, my wife loved her beef dish and my son reported that the seafood pasta was really good. We shared a surprisingly elegant bottle of Sicilian red. The reflected good value for money. Overall, very happy with our meal!

Sicilia is by far, one of the best places in Dundee to eat - whether its a nice treat at lunchtime, or a romantic evening meal/meeting up with a group of friends. The service is usually excellent, with issues usually dealt with in a prompt and friendly manner. Pizza and pasta dishes have a distinctive homemade feel to them, and deserts are always a treat. Staff are accommodating about dietary requirements/custom additions to dishes. Do not be fooled by other reviews on other Italian restaurants in Dundee. As residents in Dundee, it is hard (very hard) to find a good place to eat, and the consistency of the dishes in Sicilia is what keeps us coming back.Really cannot say anything negative....apart from that sometimes the principal owner can look slightly annoyed (!), which can be off-putting in terms of coming back - but everyone is entitled to their bad days.

Always professional, never disappoints with amazing food and cakes! Food is always fresh and 'home made'. Pizzas are authentic and just really really good! The place to eat definitely!!!

Just had lunch today at Sicilia for the first time. As there are lots of eateries along the Perth road we have just got around to trying this one, on our daughter's recommendation. There was lots of choice and we each had a pasta special our daughter had a salad. All the food was lovely and very reasonably priced. The service was friendly and efficient. The desserts were very tempting and the waitress explained each to us before we made our choice. Excellent value for money for well cooked and presented food.

This is my go-to place for lunch. They have pasta specials every day, as well as good options on the menu and quick eats in the display case. I prefer to go on Sundays, because the chef is truly Italian and very talented, but the other days are also excellent. Whenever I have lunch there (at least once a week), I spend less than most other places and always leave feeling satisfied. Food is tasty and a great value. They also do really good coffee and sweets.

This is the second time I've had an evening meal in Cafe Sicilia. The food is fabulous, fresh and gloriously homemade (unlike some other nearby eateries). The tiramisu is scrumptious but so is everything - it's so hard to choose! The cafe is open during the day and on Friday and Saturday evenings - kitchen closes at 9. Heartily recommend this hidden gem:)

The welcoming was not particular warm or friendly. Should have really turned back around and left at the point. Food was ok. Very over priced for a cafe and for what you get not worth it. The soup was very salty & north served to accompany the over priced lasagne. Not a very child friendly establishment. The service was not friendly not welcoming and we compared the waitress to a bear with a sore head who hadn't been fed in weeks. First time in this cafe... Will not be back and will not recommend to friends. some advice to management.... You could serve the best food in Dundee but if the customer service is bad customers will not return.

I live on Perth Road so come here regularly. The coffee is always piping hot and the food is really nice. They do daily special pastas and really big homemade pizzas along with sandwiches and different savoury pastries. I recommend this cafe as they make an affort to provide interesting food that is different from others.

a small nice cafe, we were attracted by the name, the menu had pies and pasta items, that is what we ordered. it was a nice taste of home made recipe, really enjoyed it and liked the food with the nice sweet service. highly recommended.

Went here for the first time the other day, with my mum. Not a massive selection of drinks and if you go at lunch time, there is a limited menu for pasta (just 3 special pastas) though you can get a pizza and there is a lot of things like pies and sandwiches of various kinds.We both went for the canneloni which was delicious, I haven't had one with olives in until now which was a really nice touch. It was just the right amount and we were both full after so we didn't get dessert but it looked delicious, so I am definitely getting one next time I go! Would love to try it in the evening as well to get the full menu.Staff were friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere was suitable for all, there were a couple of people who looked like they were having a business lunch as well as a family when we were in, and I am looking forward to taking my boyfriend here.Definitely feels like a cafe; it's very relaxed. But if you don't expect it to be like a restaurant then that shouldn't bother you. Personally I don't care, I just want good food and they deliver just that.

I came here for lunch as I am sick of overpriced, so called "Italian" eating experiences.I was not expecting anything other than a clean, comfortable café, and that is what Cafè Sicilian is. The place is popular and I can see why. It provides typical Italian food at a reasonable price. The service is pleasant and efficient. I had the Pasta of the Day - a penne with chicken and leek in a cream sauce, washed down with a bottle of Peroni. Very nice.

Took a chance on this place and was not disappointed. Quite the contrary. This is typical of one of those small lane type restaurants you would get in a place like Rome, all available on the Perth Road in Dundee. This place serves fairly simple food but it is of a high quality, probably the kind of food that an Italian mama would serve at home. The menu is not huge but the pizza I had was just brilliant, nice thin and crispy, odd shaped base with a lovely sauce! My partner had pasta with blue cheese which looked great and I am told tasted as good. The staff were particularly helpful with our 7 year old daughter. The place filled up and had a nice atmosphere. This is a hidden gem, very unassuming from the outside, probably busy during the day and we would thoroughly recommend it. They also do take aways. It doesn't have a web site and I am sure it would be very busy if it did.

Food was nice. But i dont think i would come back for dinner. It is very casual setting and you are essentially sitting in cafe. Would come back for lunch. The place could really do with a refurb. Think they would get lot more customers if they did the place up.

Ask to see the specials board...you won't be disappointed. Blink and you will miss this place. Cafe Sicilia is excellent, don't be put off by the unpretentious decor, or the sparse looking display cabinets, ask for the menu and you will not be disappointed. Prices are good value, food quality is very good, home cooked and huge portions. I ate the pasta with salmon and courgettes in a creamy sauce and it was delicious. The staff are welcoming. The coffee is amazing. The large cafe latte I ordered was thick, frothy and had afabulous taste. Really intersting Sicillian specialities too, especially the pastries. Cafe Scilia is in a great location , close to the University and interesting shops. If you go I don't think you will be disappointed. A hidden gem.

Di ritorno a Dundee dopo quasi tre anni, non poteva mancare una visita al "Cafe Sicilia" nel West End.Poco e' cambiato, qualche ritocco, ma l'atmosfera e' la stessa: un ambiente accogliente, staff gentile ed efficiente. E poi i piatti della cucina italiana e siciliana, senza fronzoli, a prezzi onesti.Per pranzare, mangiare una pizza la sera o far colazione nel weekend, "Cafe Sicilia" e' il posto giusto, un piccolo ritrovo che non delude mai.

Title says it all, fab fresh coffee, delicious and authentic Sicilian pastries, terrific hot chocolate, charming and friendly staff. This is the way it should be!

Great wee spot for paninis and pasta. Also does some Italian pastries and cakes. Can easily fall into the trap or going in for a light lunch and being enticed by pasta specials options. Great for relaxed atmosphere, kid friendly. Real quality in dishes and nice choices.
