Visocchi's Cafe in Dundee City

Whilst the service and attention over the counter has been good, the waiter in charge at the cafe has been addressing us, the customers, in an abrupt, unpleasant way. Remember it is important to speak nicely to people

Popped in for some ice cream, too many choices, which isnt a bad thing, just a fact! Poor lass who served us had the patience of a saint, bless her! But yeah, we went, got ice cream, some cake to takeaway. Brilliant place, always was, probably always will be. Beautiful, thick, luscious ice cream jam packed with flavour! I mean, best ice cream, ever! Can't fault, A1 visocchis, A1, perfection as ever ☺️

Had lunch here recently, but I've been here many times over the years. Apart from their amazing ice cream, the food is delicious. We had seafood linguine, lasagne, saltimbocca chicken, and pizza for my granddaughter. Coffee was good, and the service was brilliant, too

Their food is fantastic and authentic. Best pasta ever and our waiter, Ewan, was so very attentive and considerate. So glad we had the opportunity to enjoy this wee gem in Broughty Ferry.

So delicious can't wait to be back to try every other item on their extensive menu. Highly recommend their gorgonzola and walnut pasta.

If it were possible, I would rate it higher. Made a delivery today. The courier arrived on time and my request was fulfilled, which I left when placing the order, the food was hot as if it had just been cooked. Everything is very delicious. I was very satisfied. Prices are normal. I will definitely order from this establishment from now on.

My friend and I went here for a coffee on Thursday 15th June. Server was brilliant and the coffee was hot. Absolutely excellent service will be visiting again. Oh and the ice cream I was in heaven 😋

The ice cream here is delicious. A wide range of flavours. I tried the cherry and strawberry. Good value at £3 for 2 large scoops. Well worth a visit and open until 9pm.

Visocchi's es una especie de institución de Dundee y he estado comprando helados desde que pude caminar. Visité aquí hoy y recogí algunos Churros y helado para llevar. Me hicieron sentir bienvenidos cuando llegué por primera vez, el personal era amable y hablador. Los churros en sí mismos eran increíbles y había una amplia selección de helados caseros para acompañar. Muy recomendable.

Recientemente, estaba en mis propios pensamientos deambulando, algunos pueden decir paseando por mi encantadora área local en el ferry. Me puse demasiado caliente, así que me di un chapuzón en el borde del par. Estaba tratando de evitar quedar atrapado con todos los hooligans en estos días, pero estaban un paso por delante de mí. I have gamberoni every time I go and it is always excellent. My hubby has pizza. You really can’t beat the freshness and taste. My all time favourite.

Very friendly welcome and really helpful with my wifes allergy needs. Old style ice cream parlour/italien restaurant pretty busy with what seemed quite a few regulars. Nice atmosphere and staff very efficent. Ice cream was delicious.

Long established Italian. Nice friendly service and as expected lovely ice cream deserts masked a few glitches over the food. One of the mozzarella ball starters fell off the plate en route to the table and wasn’t replaced or apologised for. One of the mains was forgotten about and the risotto was swimming in (what I assume to be)olive oilOk mistakes happen so we will give them a second chance

Visocchi's had been recommended to me by a new of my friends. Decided to pay it a visit with my son, and treat him to an ice-cream. We were greated by a young man who was maybe new, he asked if we wanted a table and told us to go through the back. We sat down at the only table that had chairs that weren't stacked on top of each other. There were no menus. The young man asked us what we wanted to order. I asked if we could have a menu, to which he replied "I thought you might know what you wanted". He brought us menus, which were sticky and dirty. After such a poor first impression, neither of us felt comfortable eating there. We left, we won't be going back.

Superb pizzas and good wine, the perfect meal. Wasn't sure about going as it looked like an ice cream cafe, but so glad we did. Truly a taste of Italy and we had to return for a second time during our short stay. Staff are friendly and helpful.

First time we have visited but we will be back. Pizzas were perfect and the milkshakes we so nice, just wish we had not been too full for pudding as the cake fridge was filled with an amazing choice - will be back very soon.

We were staying in a holiday rental in King Street and I did not want to cook. I always thought of Visocchi's as an ice cream shop and not an excellent Pizza Shop. Our son walked along and got three pizzas. Did not take too long to make.The grandchildren loved them. Next day he took the grandchildren for ice cream! Everything was so good and worth a return visit if we are in the area again.

Last time went here had really bad service. The ice cream is nice and constantly changing but service could be improved. Feel as if the place is only interested in money and becoming complacent. My impression of last visits. Now so many places in Dundee for desserts so no excuse.

Fuimos a Visocchi por su famoso helado y no nos decepcionaron. Numerosos sabores para elegir y también tenían conos sin gluten, lo cual es una rareza, como mi hermana puede testificar. El personal fue muy servicial y fue un placer visitarlo, recomendaría este lugar a todos.

Visitó varias veces recientemente, se le pide que espere a que se sienten y que ciertamente lo haga. Entonces usted tiene que esperar hasta que se toma la orden. En una ocasión, 20 minutos y contados porque tenían poco personal, se les pidió que hicieran un cambio menor a un elemento del menú y se encontraron con una cara arrugada de la camarera. Ciertamente ha ido cuesta abajo y no regresará. Escuché a varios clientes hacer las mismas observaciones. Podría ser más fácil si tal vez tuviera una tabla informativa diciendo a los clientes qué sopas, etc. se ofrecían como consecuencia de la espera, si es una sopa que no le gusta / desea a un cliente, debe consultar el menú.

He sido un cliente durante muchos años, pero estoy luchando para ver hacia dónde se dirige la administración con su estrategia actual. Durante nuestra visita familiar, un miembro del equipo pareció más interesado en sus contactos de redes sociales en un teléfono móvil, en lugar de centrarse en los clientes o los procesos operativos. Esos grandes gabinetes de exhibición refrigerados se beneficiarían de la limpieza profunda de las migas en las áreas más bajas y el retrete era primitivo por decir lo menos. Con una cola en la puerta para los helados, tal vez el lado del negocio del restaurante sea una prioridad más baja para los propietarios. La comida en sí era la comida italiana estándar, pero nos fuimos pensando que este lugar necesita un cambio de imagen serio y una inyección de entusiasmo, si va a competir con éxito en los próximos años.

Everytime I visit Visocchi’s I’m never disappointed. There is always a selection of flavours to suit everyone’s tastes. The busy cafe has a great menu too!

I visited visocchis cafe recently with my wife and two kids whilst on a trip to Broughty Ferry for mid term, when I was there we stopped off for ice cream. I have to say, the ice cream is very good! Especially Scottish tablet. However I also thought the price was perhaps a bit too high. The staff were quite helpful and friendly so overall it was an ok experience.

I’ve not been to visocchis restaurant that much, only a handful of times but each time I’ve had an Italian member of staff serve me and the service has been terrible! They just seem to not be bothered with their jobs. Every time I’ve been served from a non-Italian person, the customer service has been excellent! (Perhaps the owners need to take a leaf out of their book). Yesterday the waiter that served me, was letting out sighs as customers walked in. Not saying please/thank yous. The place wasn’t busy, there was 4 in total including myself. Even the way he put our plates on our table was with sluggish attitude. Terrible. I have never seen service as bad as his. HOWEVER, they do offer any of the pizza & pasta dishes can be gluten free. This, is excellent!!!! Food was tasty, sauce a bit runny, but still great because of the gluten free options!

Excellent place to drop in for cakes coffee and ice cream. They also do more substantial meals. Italian atmosphere helped by TV broadcasting an Italian TV channel! A long established feature of Broughty Ferry

Recently popped in for a coffee on a bitterly cold day and had what seemed like the best coffee in a long time.the place was very busy for during the day but everyone was made welcome

This is an Italian style cafe and that's what you should expect. The decor is fairly simple but we go there for the food which is very good. We had a family meal there last weekend and, as usual, weren't disappointed. Service was friendly and attentive and food was delicious and at a very fair price for what we had. We have been there before and intend to go again.

After reading previous reviews I was expecting far better.

We visited Broughty Ferry today and were advised to try this place for lunch.

Had lunch here today. Mum had lasagne. I had mushroom risotto. We both cleared our plates. Good service, Italian staff, good food. The cakes and puddings looked wonderful but didn't have room to try them. This place is also known locally for having the best ice cream so give it a try...

Estuvimos aquí por un fin de semana y terminamos comiendo aquí 3 veces en 2 días! Tuvimos 1 almuerzo y 2 cenas aquí, y todas las comidas eran deliciosas. Un menú variado significa que todos los gustos son atendidos. Deliciosas pizzas y la pasta recién hecha y sabe increíble. El almuerzo del sábado fue sopa y pan de foccacia, ¡perfecto para un día frío! La cena de esa noche fue otra comida deliciosa. Tantos pudines para elegir también, pero mi marido prefirió tener un helado para llevar. Me llevé un trozo de tarta de queso cada vez; si te gusta la tarta de queso, ¡date un capricho con la tarta italiana! Si estás en Broughty Ferry, ve a esta fantástica cafetería. ¡Es cómo deberían ser los cafés italianos, y un verdadero placer visitarlos!

Suzanne tenía el risotto y dijo que era TOTALMENTE INCREÍBLE, - otros miembros de la familia tenían pasta, mientras yo me sentaba y lloraba en mi sopa ya que sus platos también eran TOTALMENTE INCREÍBLES.

We're here on Sunday night. Italian bread (very nice) followed by spaghetti gamberoni and lasagna both lovely. Great eatery.

A haven on a cold and windy Autumn afternoon. Couldn't resist the ice cream -.delicious!! It's a gorgeous authentic Italian establishment so typical of the seaside resorts of the 70s. Loved the retro feel.

Bueno, les vendría bien traer ese encantador helado de sandía que solían tener, ese era mi favorito y ¡no lo he visto en una década!

Broughty was my home while growing up. A trip to Visocchi’s was always a treat. Great “proper” coffee ice cream still amazing. Lovely visit brought back lots of memories.

Italian pizza and ice cream venue and a million miles away from the industrial scale pizza chains in the City centres . Family enjoyed their meal although the staff could have been a little bit more engaging. The pizzas were very tasty, well cooked and portion control was fine. Sorbets and ice cream went down a treat.

We all fancied an Italian meal to finish our holidays, family of 5.

I only had an ice-cream cone from here. There was a queue of people that suggested this was a good place. The ice cream certainly was and a real good scoop on a small cone was if I remember £1.80.

My sister and I took her 2 grandchildren for a sit in ice cream and were shocked at the prices. For 2 scoops of ice cream it was £5.00! We will not be returning to this overpriced establishment.

Amazing selection of ice cream. Tastes amazing and is definitely the place for ice cream in the area, but make sure you know EXACTLY what you want before going in. The staff do not give you a second to look. They are hounding you to order ASAP. They try to shuffle you through even though there are people standing in front of you. You don't get a second to look at the choices available. If it were not for the rushed feel given off by the staff, I would have given it 5 stars. The staff let it down on this occasion. Let me have a second to look at the choices for goodness sake!!!!

I have known this location since I was young and when I visit the area I have to make a visit. The ice-cream is really nice. Staff are polite and Friendly . The drinks are always lovely and hot and served quickly.

Headed out to Broughty Ferry on a sunny day for a wander around the lively little shops and a chance to roast a little in the coastal sunshine. Was offered a table in the windowless backroom on a very busy lunchtime service, and was glad of the relative peace. My order was taken efficiently, and there was a decent wait for the food, which was cooked to order. When it arrived fish was breaded and tasty, and came with a nicely-dressed side salad. Best of all was the delicious ice cream corner I took away to enjoy on a seafront seat beside the castle.

The food is always good whether it be a full meal or coffee and cake. I think they use authentic Italian ingredients as much as possible. Service is very slow though.

Food is excellent, can't fault it, but my god its not cheap, on a hot summers day its mobbed, the ice creams are really good, the restaurant/cafe is good, food is excellent quality, but they do get all the veg from tesco!

Came up for an ice cream at the weekend. Pretty fast service, relatively good choice of ice creams but nothing out of the ordinary. The price was okay but I wouldn't say it's any better than the average ice cream parlour.

The Sun was out and nothing is better than having a stroll by the sea with an ice cream. We knew by the queue down the street that we’d be in for a treat. Don’t be put off when you see a big queue - it moves quickly. There is a great choice of ice creams, cones, tubs, oysters.... I had mint choc chip and the kids tried candy floss and bubble gum. The ice cream is brilliant!

Travelled a long way to come back for this excellent ice cram- worth every mile!! Highly recommend this place.

I have visited Visocchi's many times growing up and our family would consider this as a restaurant we would visit when we all get together. It's a friendly family restaurant with great service and lovely Italian meals and ice cream. I would definitely recommend a visit here, whether for a coffee and catch up with a friend, family meal or romantic meal for 2. Their Facebook page also advertises new ice cream flavours and any specials on offer but I still prefer spaghetti carbonara and my boys go for pizzas every time!

I hope this place never shuts, been coming here since I were a child, the pizza is always great, but the ice cream... oh man, I had a scoop of the snowball and a scoop caramel shortbread on a waffle cone, that was something special.

I was one of the many who queued down the street this past weekend with the hot weather. Excited and knowing what I wanted as we don't live anywhere near but visit the area regularly by the time I got to the front the counter was becoming very empty. I ordered the tablet and irn but ice cream only to be told they had run out. I joked I'd come all the way from Leeds for this and the member of staff was very friendly despite his ever growing queue and discussed what other options were available and his recommendations. I eventually left with cookie dough and raspberry jelly donut ice cream and like everything else in there amazing. Amazing flavours amazing staff and to the member of staff amazing moustache!!

Rude staff, atmosphere you could cut with a knife and terrible disorderly service. The food was truly awful - supermarket fish, iceberg lettuce, carbonara a disgusting creamy mess and the kids food absolutely horrible. I have never been so disappointed with a meal ever.. a shame because Jolly's Hotel across the road is excellent and half the price.

I do not recommend this place to anyone!! The manager where disgusting rude towards me and my partner! My partner asked a young employee who was lovely if it was okay to order ice cream at the car as there was no ice cream menu at the table and didn’t know what he wanted. At this point he was told by the women manager that he’s not allowed, she then shouted at the employee in front of all customer in the store, which personally I thought was unprofessional and expremely horrendous behaviour! When we left I took it upon myself to speak to the women to suggest that they need an ice Cream menu where by I was approach by the male(son of women) who then raised his voice saying I’m insulting his mother as if to argue with me like a child. Frustrated by being interrupted and spoken over by a so called professional business where customer service is suppose to be centre I said that I was stating that the behaviour was disgusting and that the customer service provided by her was awful and about the menus advice. They both then started arguing and saying that they do not give a f*** what I write on trip advisor! At this point I walked out and said that the behaviour from a manager to a polite and very helpful waiter was disgusting and that her customer service was s**t.

This is a Broughty Ferry institution. We popped in here today for an ice cream after having lunch at Jolly's. There were a couple of young lads working behind the counter and they were friendly and polite. We got 4 ice creams and had change from a tenner.

This Italian cafe has been keeping people happy for decades. It is great for young and old, for coffee, ice cream or meals. I vote this the best place for pizza anywhere in the UK and didn't find one in Naples I liked better.

Popped in for lunch on a cold afternoon, the cafe wasn't that busy and we had a choice of tables, the waiter suggested sitting toward the back as it was warmer. The soup was nice, the other half's hotdog looked good and my pasta was OK, a bit too much sauce and not enough sausage though. Too cold for ice cream but he had a cannoli which was a bit soggy at one end and i had the cheesecake which was nice. The food and service were OK but it is quite expensive for what it is.

Busy cafe, pleasant staff, food a bit average but not cheap. Could offer a battered as well as a breaded fish/maybe don't want a chip shop smell though!! Minestrone soup. OK but could have been bulked up with some pasta. Wetherspoons (Jolly's across the road) might be better option if you wnt a veggie lasagne. Otherwise cake display looks super, ice cream always looks delicius but soft..........Maybe too much of a turnover to be firmer. Would be easier to eat. Overall very average......maybe better than some of the experiences we have had in Italy(Venice/Pisa). Apart from Rome and Milan ..........delicious.
