The Giddy Goose in Dundee City

Perfect for a date night in a place that is as beautiful as it is affordable. The boardgames they provide for customers is a massive plus

The food was nice, although quite pricey for what it was. Loaded fries £16, and pizza around the same price. Our drinks, "Giddy Goose Pilsner," tasted of cigarette ash, so we had to send them back after only a couple of sips. Initially, we were told we wouldn't be charged for them, then that we would be on instruction of the duty manager. That was disappointing. We're visitors to the area, so likely won't return next time we're here.

February visited, Everything £10 on a Sunday advertised, NOT the case? Lots of items not available? Had ordered drinks so stayed. Staff lovely, shame they have to go through this. Food not as advertised, no skin on fries, no brioche buns, no Aperol, e- mailed, told suppliers let them down, "all suppliers at once?" Got refund of food, but had to wait until April for this?

Food was good , service a little slow to start and music was a bit too loud so hard to converse .

Sadly not at all a gluten free restaurant.

It was busy so we sat outside but the heat lamps made it so cosy. We had the White Fish Bajo Tacos at £8.95 (3 tacos) - strong 9/10 delicious. Then I had Calabrian Chilli Pizza, which wasn’t that spicy but really good - 8/10 and Alex had The Frency Burger at £15.50 - he said it was very yummy - 9/10. Staff were lovely and really attentive, atmosphere excellent

Excellent - Chloe, our server, came straightaway with a bowl of water for our dog and a warm welcome for us. We played the games provided in the short time while we waited for our meals. The food was great, especially the kids' pizzas.

Customer service is good and the drinks are too but £8.25 for 2 chicken strips on the sharer menu? Lucky if you're not with 3+ people otherwise you'd be rationing. Also they have seasoned chips on the menu, seasoned with just salt. Disappointed, I would've expected more.

We arrived at 7 pm. Ordered starters of prawns and beef tacos no beef tacos left . Ordered main course of beef dirty fries ,no beef left Ordered main course of steak ,no steak left Ordered main course of fish ,no fish left Ordered chocolate cake for dessert no cake left You would think for spending £95.00 they would have at least something of the choices we asked for. very disappointing experience

Went for lunch with a friend. Place was reasonably busy but only 2 staff on shift for FOH. Took a while to take our order and waited a long time for two simple drinks to arrive. Food eventually came a pizza and a loaded fries. For £16 the pizza is not up to standard and didn’t have all that was in its description on the menu. The loaded fries came with a lot more than what was described on menu, covered in parsley and coriander. Unsure why some places insist on covering dishes with something that 1/3 the population is genetically predisposed to. Fries themselves were soggy and unseasoned, and the beef shin/nduja topping was overly sweet with little kick provided only by separate chilli slices. Disappointed overall, especially after paying over £40 for lunch and a drink each.

My boyfriend and I decided to go here last night for a date night and were not disappointed. The waitress we had was lovely! Really smiley which was nice to see. My boyfriend had one of the burgers and I had the garlic steak, which was loaded on top of salt and pepper fries with peppercorn sauce. It was absolutely delicious! The bowl was so packed that I couldn’t finish it. The cocktails were brilliant as well. As it was a Friday night they were very busy so drinks service did take a little longer, but as someone who works in hospitality it is understandable. We were asked to move to the outside beer garden once our 2 hours was up, most places do give a 2 hour window nowadays due to increased custom. However, one thing I would say is that if you are going to ask customers to move after 2 hours, try not to keep them waiting 20 minutes for a dessert menu (we weren’t offered them and had to ask) and then a further 10 minutes for the dessert as this adds to the amount of time at the table! Overall was an enjoyable experience

Had the ultimate cheese burger with a side of fire cracker mac & cheese, was so tasty and lots on the plate. I will be back.

Terrible! Avoid at all costs! Waiting staff very bitchy and unpleasant. Service slow and unprofessional. I had the maple burger; burnt burger and dry to every inch of its life. Fries must have been cooked, reheated and cooked again. Pizza terrible. Toilets dirty, no soap or toilet roll. Don't visit. Other nicer places to spent your money.

Booked for my best friend’s bridal party. Called to see if I could pre book a bottle of Prosecco, but unfortunately I couldn’t pay for it then but they were so kind on the phone and assured me they would have it ready for us coming in which was a lovely touch. The staff were incredibly nice and patient. The food and drinks were incredible as usual but the staff and atmosphere were absolutely brilliant!

The only restaurant in Perth where you can play 'Cards Against Humanity' whilst drinking wine and eating pasta. Highly recommended.

Had to redo this review, past few visits the food has been forgettable, got a Oreo milkshake thing one time and it just tasted like frothy milk, better places for a night out

Had issues with food taking a while (40 mins or so). I was fine with it and they were so nice with it and gave us drinks on the house. Service can not be faulted, and food was good. Very uni atmosphere, not my thing. However, is very nice looking. Good food, amazing service 👌

Great food tonight, service was a bit slow - was given a table after 10 minutes had to go and ask for menus then sat for about 10/15 mins with menus and then went to the bar to order our food. Food came pretty quickly and was amazing! Maybe just slightly busier for a Tuesday due to their Pizza & Pint deal.

So where do I start me and my boyfriend ordered a cheese burger and a lamb burger they came unseasoned so bland and my boyfriend has spewed his whole food up the staff never told him It had goat cheese on the lamb burger even so it took an hour for our food to even show up charged extra for something we ordered and never got and when it came it looked like it was microwaved as it was cold 5 seconds after hitting the table an absolute joke also there was a hair in my food in the garlic bread it was disgusting

Went just before xmas for xmas meal/night out, on arrival we were completely ignored, eventually had to be asked to be seated a few times, got the impression they had forgotten about our booking. Were seated downstairs in a booth, we settled ourself then were left for about 15mins, no-one came to get drinks orders. Were about to go and look for staff when someone arrived, only to be told we had to move seats, to a table for 4 (there were 5 of us in the party) we reluctantly moved and squished around the table. Had to wait again for a further 10-15 mins for drinks, then another 10-15 mins before we got our food order. In the meantime, another party of 5 appeared and were seated in the booth we had been removed from! Why could they not have been seated where we had been put? Anyway, determined to enjoy our night, we finally got our food and further drinks, which took a long time to arrive. When they did, I got 2 cocktails poured over myself!! Obviously an accident but I was soaked from head to toe, the staff cleaned the table but had to point out to wipe the floor. I took myself off to the toilet to try to dry myself out, what a pigsty! Loo roll all over the place and looked like someone had peed in the sink, really disgusting! When we were standing outside the toilets about leave, we were asked if we had a booking, I said we were about to leave! When we were ready to leave, we were completely ignored again, the staff behind the bar in heated discussion totally ignoring us. Never had such poor service! Food was average but the poor service just ruined the whole experience. They obviously could not cope with the amount of bookings. Very disappointing.

Was in last weekend with some friends. We ordered cocktails. Specifically, the Giddy Goose cocktails, which were advertised as 50% off. When we went to pay we were informed that the discount was no longer offered, despite us standing right next to a massive sign declaring it in huge red lettering. There were two women we were speaking/dealing with the issue as we paid, one blonde the other shorter and with darker hair. The blonde woman was great, she obviously couldn't do anything about it and was polite about subtly communicating that she realised it was unfair, but above her paygrade to do anything about. However, the darker-haired woman who was dressed the same as everyone else but acted like a manager was just AWFUL. She very snarkily snapped that the sign has a terms and conditions section at the bottom stating that the offer can be removed at any time due to management discretion and stormed off. This is a really underhanded way to run a business and just generally a dishonest and exploitative thing to do. It clearly has a management that is prepared to try and "trick" its customers into ordering drinks they think are 50% off. The blonde woman told us the offer hadn't been honoured for over two months. So they have left a huge sign up advertising discounts over the festive period, only to point you to the small print when you pay. It's despicable. But my biggest complaint is entirely at the awful customer service by the dark haired woman, if she is manager she should be replaced immediately. If she isn't, she never should be. I've worked in hospitality plenty so I get that it wouldn't have been her decision to leave a sign up advertising something false. I actually know this for a fact because as we were standing outside saying good bye to each other the blonde woman came out front to call someone and say "I really think we need to take it down." So whoever she was on the phone to is obviously either a terrible person morally or just terrible at running a business. Likely both. So whoever you are dark haired women, I get it, it's above your pay grade and you're just the poor sod who has to work for that person and be the one to have to tell a justifiably upset public that your establishment is "one of those places." But you could try and be sound about it and not be so odiously smug. Oh and the food is rubbish and the staff were arguing with the chef at the pass about moving plates around in full view/earshot of everyone. There are a lot of good alternatives nearby.

Absolutely delicious burger and chips served just as I asked for. Ie- no coleslaw, burger sauce etc. My friend loved the meat pizza also. Brilliant music in the background too.

TL;DR: Stick to their drinks and standard menu. Visited here for a meal with 8 people booked two weeks in advance for their festive menu. We were told that we would have two separate tables, which we were fine with. On the day we received a call advising us we could now have one table which we were very happy with. Upon arriving our single table was a booth meant for 4-6 people. There additionally was a very large party of approximately 15-20 people sitting beside us on the bottom floor that were incredibly disruptive and we were unable to hear our own conversations. It took 25 minutes for a drinks order to be taken. An additional 15 for it to be delivered. After which our food order was taken (starters followed by mains) in which the starters took over an hour to be delivered. The food was very bland and of poor quality. The main course arrived over an hour and a half later which was completely inedible, cold, wrongly advertised and tasted horrific and processed. We had no one check up on us and had to go to the bar ourselves to order drinks and complain. The supervisor was very lovely and understanding and compensated us for the issue. Unfortunately this has left us with a sullen experience. The drinks are well presented and flavourful and their standard menu is better than what we received.

Went with a large family group on Christmas eve and have never been so pleasantly surprised by a restaurant! Staff were extremely friendly and helpful with seating due to having an elderly family member who's not long broke her hip Food was AMAZING, very very rarely are the whole group of 7 happy with what they ordered ( few fussy eaters ) but everyone LOVED what they had , the pizzas were amazing, haven't had such authentic pizzas since a holiday to Rome ! Tempura chicken was cooked perfectly and delicious and the fries were crispy , hot and fluffy ! Best pizza this side of Italy 10/10 will definitely go again !

We had the Christmas menu a couple of weeks ago, all the food was terrible. Turkey and cheesecake were especially not edible. Atmosphere was ok. The service was ok, but they didn't allow us to pay separately like they used to allow, so everything became complicated. Pizzas were ok, but please don't order the Christmas menu.

Amazing gf pizza! Went here to celebrate a friend's birthday, had the veggie supreme gf pizza - I'm super sensitive with my coeliac disease but everything was fine. ☺️ Our waitress double checked the menu with the chef despite it being super busy and made me feel really safe about eating there. Lovely place, cocktails fab. Would recommend

Sadly today we went to the Giddy Goose and my wife found a hair embedded in her falafel burger, and was told they buy them in. Felt a little tacky after that to be charged for a tea and ginger beer.

Very disappointing. Whilst welcomed when we arrived, my wife ordered the falafel burger which was probably a little too deep fried, she then found to her horror a hair within the burger itself. After highlighting to the staff, they said this was as they bought them in and didn’t actually make them themselves. We had a couple of drinks and were surprised to be charged for them after such an experience. Felt tacky.

Ordered the smokey pepper chicken skewers and the French onion dirty fries. For £9, there were 2 small skewers! Dirty fries were good. Would've had more drinks, but there was a large group behind us, with 1 very loud bloke. Restaurant was cold, tv wasn't on, so nothing to look at & no background music. Those silver camping plates are horrible. Baffles me why this place is so popular.

You should really tell customers (especially with kids) when booking that a live band will be playing. So loud.

Great pizza! Ate in the outside garden which was very comfortable. Probably a great place to go in the evenings, especially with the daily specials. Great value for the nearby Uni students! Will come back next time I'm in the neighbourhood.

Came here yesterday and the food was not good at all. The chicken wings were burnt and dry. The halloumi also was over cooked and it was just hard to eat. I ordered 3 starters for £15 and my partner had a burger and the bill with student discount was just under £40 which did not seem worth it at all. Really unhappy as I came here before and the menu was good but I think the new menu just isn't as good. I told the girl at the bar that I wasn't happy with the chicken wings and I wasn't offered any resolve. Won't be coming back sadly.

Someone recommended this place to meet for lunch during a recent visit to Dundee. Menu choices very limited. I ordered spaghetti carbonara, and at the point when my 2 companions were getting served their food I was told the wrong order had been put through for my dish meaning I had to wait around 20 minutes whilst the others ate to prevent their food going cold. When the carbonara finally appeared it was bizarrely served in a large metal dish like a dog bowl and it was utterly disgusting and a disgrace - just a huge pile of spaghetti swimming in sweet cream with a few small pieces of ham and parsley thrown in (not pancetta) and no egg or seasoning in the sauce. There was no salt and pepper on the table and I had to ask and wait further for some parmesan which sadly did not improve the dish. I was starving but could only manage 2 mouthfuls before admitting defeat as the amount of cream was frankly nauseating. One of my companions had a pizza which was bland but edible and my other companion had chicken katsu strips and loaded fries but left most of it uneaten. We ordered a bottle of Sauvignon assuming it would be an average price of around £18/20 and were shocked to see it was £30! We were keen to leave and carry on our afternoon elsewhere at this point, and when we got the bill no discount had been given for the initial error in my order or for the mainly uneaten spaghetti dish. When my companion queried this she was only offered a 50% discount on the spaghetti and had to push to get it removed from the bill. A really unpleasant experience overall. Avoid.

Food over priced drinks even more so. Service was fine. Only good thing about it. One of us ordered carabonara it tasted like a madecup jar from tesco. They took the charge of the bill.

Charging a massive premium for ordering a half pint. No excuses. Left on seeing this. Why screw customers over. There is no extra cost associated with serving a half. Don’t price gouge. Also could smell the bins from the table.

First time in the giddy goose for a meal and it did NOT disappoint Both myself and my daughter enjoyed the food which was so tasty and it was served in a lovely atmosphere with excellent service I would definitely go back and also recommend 👌 Prices are also very reasonable 👌

Two lovely pizzas at lunchtime today as a pre theatre lunch for the Dundee Rep. It's hard to find a good Gluten Free pizza anywhere, the Giddy Goose served up an excellent one today

Indoor restaurant was full so we accepted a table outside. Was okay. A bit chilly. Outdoor heaters but ours didn't work. Later asked to move to a newly vacated table with a heater that DID work. Better. Food was great but it DID take a while to arrive. Maybe we confused the staff by ordering one starter and three main courses. Starter arrived by itself, having to wait ages for the rest. Not particularly cheap, but I liked it.

Gorgeous place, amazing food. A good variety of gluten free options which is amazing! Staff are always so lovely and friendly :) They were very accommodating to my food allergy :)

An absolutely amazing meal tonight. Eva, Lorraine and Reya were so attentive, always making sure we had everything we needed. Food was amazing but the staff made the experience so much better. We will definitely be returning.

Enjoyed a very pleasant meal here this evening. Service was swift and the staff were all lovely. I had the Meat Madness pizza and a pint of the Giddy Pilsner and have zero complaints. The pizza was fantastic and everybody else in my party each ordered a different thing and thoroughly enjoyed their choices. Will definitely return soon.

Took advantage of their Tuesday Pizza and Pint for £9 deal, nice atmosphere, great service, pizza was amazing - had the smokey one - dough must have been allowed to ferment a bit as there's a lovely tang.

I went with my family for dinner and ordered the Margarita pizza expecting nothing special, but it turned about to be the best pizza I have ever had. The rest of my family enjoyed their food as well and the service was excellent. Highly recommend, and was very family friendly.

Burgers and fries here are top notch. Great table service. Disappointed at the lack of dessert options. Didn't like the brownie and fruit thing. Very dirty and damaged bathrooms which was disappointing.

Staff were lovely. Food ok. Had a hot dog. It was tiny! How about using a jumbo sausage or even 2 small ones. My husband had a pizza which wasn't great.

Great all-round visit, would recommend

Ordered delivery and oh dear lord it was bad. Pizza was meat madness. What we got was barely qualifiable as a pepperoni pizza with the addition to a few strands of dried out burnt chicken. So little cheese and sauce that you could actually see the base in places. The nachos were sweet. Not sweet as in good but as in someone decided to put an obscene amount of sugar into the guacamole. The sour cream tasted more like spray cream than anything. Carbonara was just oil and spaghetti. After one forkful I felt like I had just greased my mouth with wd40. The only thing that was any good was the fries, but it's almost impossible to mess up throwing parmigiano onto some chips. I am not a particularly fussy eater and even when I don't like food I will try my best to finish it out of fear of waste. There are 3 almost full boxes of food because we only managed to eat £10 worth of a £40 order before giving up.

Celebrating my my sons graduation, this place was near the campus. We were a group of 5 adults and 2 children. We were given a lovely table with plenty of room. The staff were so very helpful dealing with dietary requirements. The food service was spot on, food was lovely and excellent portions. We were never felt rushed, considering they were busy. Thank you to all that work there, we had a lovely end to a lovely day I would go back here 👍

Lovely interior! Friendly service! Food was ok. I had an Italian pizza and my husband had the Katsu chicken burger. All main courses are 10 GBP on Sundays. Seems like a popular place! Glad we had booked a table.

Booked in advance for a family meal here, which was just as well as the place was fully booked. The restaurant had to turn away walk-ins time after time after time. Very nice surroundings and a decent menu to choose from. Started off with the Baked Chilli Nachos. looked good when it arrived but was disappointed that after dipping the nachos into the topping we were left with a large plate of dry nachos. More topping and slightly less nachos please. The Katsu chicken strips, (with Thai dipping sauce), were good but the dipping sauce was most definitely not Thai. More like a very salty dark soy sauce. For the mains, we had the Meat Madness Pizza, amongst others. Very tasty, decent size, no problems with this. Giddys' Donner & Cheese was another main we had. Disappointed with the donner. Looked like, and tasted like, meatloaf!? we had a couple of bottles of wine with our meal, but was 'surprised' they didn't have any of the 'cheaper' bottles left. Nevertheless, an enjoyable drink albeit expensive. Some had a desert, again no issue with these. Service was good, and the food arrived together and at the correct temperature. If you're going here avoid the table at the window. A party of four were at hat one but the table is only good for two people. goodness knows how they managed to stop their plates falling off the table. The toilets could do with a more regular check up routine, as they were in a bit of a mess when visited. Overall though, a decent popular place to eat. Although slightly expensive, a restaurant I will return to another time.

A lovely, funky bar with great value pizzas, well made cocktails and a tremendous house beer! Service was really excellent from the friendly and enthusiastic staff, and we are already looking forward to repeat visits. Would thoroughly recommend.

I’ll be honest I’ve ate here four time and it’s been alright once, I’d never recommend a chicken burger they’re always flavourless and overdone. they don’t even apply the deals they promote unless you remind them to which is ridiculous, are you unsure what day it is? The service was alright other than that but I want good food not a nice hello.

Deals sway you into places, 2 for 1 boards for Monday madness got us in. Upon the bill told oh no sorry we no longer do that deal the signs are coming down "soon# shocking attitude and a great way to mislead customers won't be back again.

Food was poor quality! Staff couldn’t care less about any form of service. Manage rude and made the atmosphere very uncomfortable. Outside there is POS (point of sale) that is false. They are falsely advertising deals that do not exist. A meal that outside says buy one burger get one free , was not the case. Spent £39.50 on the food I’ve ever had in Dundee. Beast up fries what a joke! Extra £3 for a drizzle of sauce. Would not recommend… go to spoon

Food was good, the pizzas were yummy and the differend toppings quite interesting and something else. Thr pizza and pint deal on monday is amazing. They also have games to play while waiting which is fun!

Right where do I start ,looking forward to our Mother's Day at this establishment . Decor ambiance staff drinks Lovely , then the food , Very poor Cold wrong order had to send it back , 3 out the four dishes served in stainless steel...

Usually a good meal etc however last night was really disappointing. Starters were burnt (halloumi & chicken strips) we had to remove all the coating & both dipping sauces were gloomy & unappealing. The main chorizo mac n cheese was delicious, the pizza bland. But worse was service, initially attentive, but on telling servers food burnt 'I'll pass on to the chef's nothing else. Then having to find staff twice to ask for cutlery to eat our main course as we a knife between us & nothing else. They were completely laid back about it. I appreciate it was Saturday evening, busy etc but we won't be back sadly

Oh dears. Food is poor poor poor. Don't be sold by all the 'flavours'. It might sound exciting...ooh cajun! Kaysu! Mexican jalapeño! Falafel. Its all NONSENSE. Also the deals, especially burger Monday. Ouch. 2 for one?? More like two for none. Po boy was Awful. I'm talking farmfoods frozen scampi on a miserable roll. With miserable fries.. Full stop. The end. Nothing else. Beef burger not much better. Drier than your nans biscuits.

We were seated in smallest corner of the restaurant next to a party of 19 people that were being far too loud and noisy. I politely asked to move table somewhere else and was giving a dirty look and told that there’s no other tables available. We walked past 2 empty tables as we were being seated, ended up just ordering starters so we can leave since we were already charged for booking a table and again was giving a dirty look when asked to pay the bill

Lovely atmosphere and the decor is stunning. We were a big group so booked in advance (which I recommend as it is very busy here) and the staff were very patient and friendly. Food was fresh, delicious and great portion sizes! I had the salt & pepper chicken burger (which is hot so just a warning if you aren't into spicy food) with chips and a side salad, then the oreo chocolate brownie and a generous glass of peach & raspberry gin with diet lemonade. Really enjoyed and will be back!

Friendly and helpful staff as well as nice decor and atmosphere. However the food was quite bad. Burger was bland and pizzas were terrible. Makes it not worth it for the price unfortunately.

Great 5 star, good atmosphere, great staff, great people but the amount of TVs let it down. We counted 1 per 5cm. If they added a 200 inch tv in the centre I would have gave 6, also the projector quality 5/10

Popped in for a vegan meal. Thr food was okay but there was really nothing amazing about it.

I went there today with my husband. The food is okay. Pizza knife is awful it’s a steak knife and doesn’t even cut the pizza. It’s deffo a very student place I couldn’t even hear my husband speak cause it was so noisy! But food is okay. Staff nice but did take a while to ask if we wanted drinks I probs wouldn’t go back if I’m honest..

Was there recently for burgers, food was ok, I expected the burger to be hotter got the impression it has just been quickly heated up. Food served on a plastic plate which as an adult I don't like and also had the modern way of being served on a sheet of paper. Didn't go in the toilets but the good last did and says they were a disgrace.

Pretty great pizzas and the cocktails were great too! Plus the service was lovely. We enjoyed our time there.
