Tony Macaroni in Dundee City

I phoned up to book a table person on the phone said they had a gluten free menu when I got to restaurant they said they didn't have a gluten free menu and couldn't promise it wouldn't be contaminated.

Very noisy but we did not fixate on this as that tends to mean that the food is of good quality. They did not have the wine selection we are used to but as a limited eatery it was more than a worth while sojourn.

Had a beautiful lunch at Tony Macaroni’s. Lovely atmosphere, attentive service and fabulous food.

Can't fault the pizzas. The service is fast and friendly.

The table we were given was right beside the door and very draughty. I asked if we could change our table and this was done without a second thought. The meal was delicious and the red wine (Primitivo) was one of the best I have ever tasted. There was a 10% service charge which our waitress brought to our attention, which was very good. We have been in other restaurants where staff weren’t so forthcoming. Would definitely go back.

The overall experience was good. Nice friendly manager, but the waitress lacked enthusiasm.

Busy town centre restaurant, drinks overpriced, but that's Dundee or any City bar 🍸

Ordered starters at £8.95 each ,cheesy mushrooms with garlic dip and chicken wings done in a lovely sauce.Not worth the money as got 5 mushrooms and 5 chicken wings.So very overpriced.

Just had the Sautéed prawns in vodka with a chilli Tomato sauce I can honestly say well I am speechless as to how good that was my tastebuds will take a while to recover 👌

The staff were fantastic. Especially the manager or front of house. I went in for a take away pizza and there were 2 big tables of clients had just sat down. The member of staff checked with the pizza chef and managed to get my pizza made in 7 minutes so I wasn't held up by the big orders of food that were about to come from the groups Excellent service

55 minutes we waited on our starters, people coming in behind us getting food within 15 mins, then when we finally get main course they forget my daughters food which came out 10 mins after we got ours, I can't fault the food as it was delicious but that service we got was terrible, they did take 20% of the bill but still won't be in a hurry to go back.

I had dinner with my boyfriend last Saturday. We got Antipasti Caldi and we shared Pizza & Pasta through the Geppy formula. We both come from Italy and we love the variety and the quality of the food here! Definitely recommended.

We were pleasantly surprised at this restaurant. It was clean, with modern decor and friendly staff and not too busy at 4pm on the last day of term. Despite the extensive menu, my pizza was thin crust, delicious and served hot and fresh. The breadsticks dessert was a real treat, big portion with warm sticks and plenty of dipping sauce.

Mandatory service charge, when items where not available where unable to replace them properly

Food was absolutely delicious as usual and the service was very good. Very nice atmosphere. However, my only issue is that they put on a 10% service charge without asking… feels very awkward to say no when they ask if you want to take it off. I’ll happily pay a tip but don’t want to feel like I have no choice.

Food was great, love the options and it’s good value, but service was very slow, we were forgotten about for 25 minutes and we had to ask to order then had to chase down someone to pay, which would have been fine on its own but then a gratuity was automatically added at 18%, which I don’t like - if I wanted to leave a tip, I would and often do, but automatically adding it puts me off going back.

I really like this place. Staff are always lovely, very polite and helpful. Nothing is ever too much bother. Been a few times and will be back 😊

We were here before we explored Dundee. The food is reasonably priced and the staff are friendly and polite. The pizzas are big and looked good, but I had macaroni cheese, which was made with four different cheeses. Very nice indeed. Would definitely eat here again.

Staff serving food were lovely. DO NOT GET A WOOWOO as it is clearly NOT! It is the worst 'cocktail' I've tasted! Too much ice with a drop of cranberry juice (the alcohol was well hidden!) Staff offered to replace it but I would be charged!

Food was alright. A service charge of 7.5% was added on to the bill which I was not told about. It was on the receipt at the bottom but I was not made aware. I saw it before I paid the bill. I would probably have tipped more than the service charge I just didn't like how this was done and you are not told about it.

It's a very nice place, all the food was very tasty and looked great. I loved the Sticky Toffee Pudding and the Carbonara was very good. The service was great. The portions are quite big and me and my friend were able to share our dishes easily.

Lovely busy friendly restaurant

Good spot in Dundee and is often really busy. Not my cup of tea as the food is very basic. A real hit with my granddaughter so I often take her here as she can be fussy with what she eats

Honestly a 10/10 experience, no complaints. servers were lovely, and waiting time was minimal even though it was a busy saturday night. food is top notch, seriously one of the best meals out i’ve had in a long time. so much flavour, reminds me so much of the food my italian grandmother used to cook for me. thanks to the workers who do a great job!

Had the chicken milanese with pasta from the presto menu which had a great price of £6.95 before 6.30pm. Food was very good, had a beer to go with it, enjoyed it all until bill was brought over with a service charge of 7.5 per cent, we were a couple, i questioned it and the waitress said we didn't have to pay it which we didn't! It wasn't a question of money it was the fact that it wasn't on the menu and the waitress never mentioned it until I did. We thought it was underhand and sneaky, very unfair for unsuspecting customers many of whom would either not notice it or be too embarrassed to query it. People check your bill before paying, don't be ripped off or taken for fools by a large conglomerate making plenty of money, Karen, Glasgow.

Last here 6 month ago and what a difference in portion sizes. Will be going elsewhere in future!!!!! My partner had the macaroni cheese and garlic bread n frankly the macaroni cheese looked like cheesy pasta out a box

Berry smash mocktail- definitely a berry smoothie more than a cocktail. Tangy but sweet, a little too much cranberry for my liking, it would definitely help with a UTI 6/10 Pollo tri pepe- the sauce, it was amazing got a kick while still being creamy and not over loading my senses. Chicken is a little chewy and hard to cut into. Chips are brilliant 8/10 The staff were lovely, our Severs name is Chloe she was really sweet and made sure we were okay. Hot Chocolate fudge sundae- delicious. Really sweet. Really filling. Fell into a food coma afterwards 9/10

where to start I do not know... Firstly the drinks where super slow, takes them ages just to bring water to my table. I ordered pasta carbonara, pasta was overcooked and swimming in cream.Then food was very expensive just for a piece of salmon and four bits of salad. Very disappointed in my visit used to love this place but right now I hate it.

Very nice food, but there was a member off staff Chelsea was very flirty towards half of our table so we were a bit put off as she was handing her number and socials out.

We go here every time we visit our eldest in Dundee. Fantastic food and service, dependable, consistent and inviting. Couldn’t recommend it enough. Especially if you have a family with some younger ones, teenagers etc. something for everyone

Daughters 13th with some friends. Have to commend the staff who were great, but also the maitre'd who was at the top of his game and a credit to the business. As we were waiting and leaving the girls to it, we were at reception and could see and hear first hand- His professionalism, service, and understanding of what was going on at every moment in the restaurant was exemplary.

Presto menu was good value but no sign of tea on the menu. Asked waitress for a pot of tea but was told only served as a cup. Checked bill later and discovered my cup of tea cost me £3.25! That wasn't for a pot or a mug, but a CUP!

Met at the door by friendly staff member taken to our table service was quick after ordering our food and drink partner had carbonara lovely cocktail myself I had a tony macaroni burger and a pint of lager food was excellently cooked very flavoursome

Still as good as ever. I had ribs to start which were wonderful, the a new chicken dish which included brocoli and mash. This was ginormous with a spicy taste. Couldn't eat it all, bought half home. We shared the brownie ice cream pudding. Full to busting! Only complaint it had ran out of our 2 choices of wine, and couldn't do the mussel starter and another fish dish. Shame.

Gareth the manager is very welcoming and always goes the extra mile to ensure a 5 star service is delivered ! Mira is a very kind and helpful waitress Thank you you all deserve 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Friendly staff in a spacious restaurant. Food is great and reasonably priced for what you get. Best pizza base I've had in ages and the huge selection of pizza and pasta should suit any taste. A good option for young children too. Top marks for service.

The risotto is perfectly cooked. Seafood is tender and the overlay of white wine sauce and chili peppers nails the dish. Staffs are super friendly and food are delivered quickly. Definitely recommended!

Pretty average to be honest. The restaurant wasn't anywhere near busy but we were left with our empty plates for starters and mains and I had to request for service both times as we seem to have been forgotten about. That said, the staff were pleasant when they did serve us. Starter and dessert were also bang average although my main course steak was nicely cooked. Not sure I'll hurry back.

All round just bad experience. Go here more often than I should and give it a “second chance” went on Sunday evening was served by a younger gentlemen, if you can say served. The pasta I ordered came unflavoured and hard. Not once during the meal did a member of staff approach us to ask if we were okay! Not even the offer of salt or pepper. Adding a service charge in the bill total should be an option and not already inputted. Having to awkwardly as to remove the service change is an embarrassing situation to be put in. So you don’t feel you are able to do so… despite everytime I’ve been the food was underwhelming and under flavoured. Awful food. Would not recommend.

I've eaten in here quite a few times, its close to our Dundee office. The menu is enormous and the food is simple, well cooked and the portions are huge. The pizza's are great value and you can ask for them to be well fired, or crispy as they refer to them. Service is quick, helpful and the atmosphere is always good! It doesn't pretend to be anything other than good value simple Italian food.

Another enjoyable visit. Due to mobility issues we asked to be seated at another table. Our friendly and attentive waiter arranged for this without hesitation. We both ordered risotto pesce and we were not disappointed.

Having read some mixed reviews I was a little concerned about visiting but it was so close to our hotel (Malmaison) we decided to try it , so glad we did staff were very welcoming and friendly service was excellent we had pasta and pizza and shared a sundae the food was excellent we would definitely return

I have been here several times in the past and I have found that the service used to be excellent. This time we found it difficult to get to get eye contact with staff though it wasn’t very busy. Service was okay but very perfunctory with minimal interaction. I wondered at this change. I noticed that the service charge is automatically added to the bill now and it is not customer initiated tipping. Has this something to do with the change in staff attitude?

We visited for our annual friends christmas meal get together We like coming here for the service and food It was very busy,but all the staff were very efficient and professional at all times The 3 course christmas menu was great value for money,the best part was the big slab of sticky toffee pudding They had ran out of vanilla ice cream and opted for the chocolate,which went really well with the dish Look forward to our next visit

Ruined my Dundee tour😰 Walked in to have lunch and I stood at the reception for about 10 mins until I left. I asked a waitress if I could get a table and she said she needed to ask the manager. I couldn’t understand why a manager was to be involved in deciding whether or not I could sit and have food but I decided to give it a benefit of doubt. I stood for about 5 mins without anybody attending to me, I could see the waitress I had spoken to earlier standing at the other end of the restaurant doing nothing. There were also other waitresses who kept passing by and ignoring me. After 5 minutes, I went to the waitress from before and asked again and she said the decision on availability of space required the manager so I decided to be patient. After about 10 mins, I was tired of standing so I left. Important to note though, the restaurant had pleasure of free tables. Secondly, I was okay if someone told me that they weren’t taking in single customers without reservations. I could have just left. But being ignored felt terrible 😢 Probably my skin colour was a part of it, I don’t know!!! I hope no hungry person visiting a city goes through that.

Visited with 12 year old for lunch. Great menu & great value. Asked for pot of tea - server said, would get a mug & just ask for more hot water & I did and received jug of hot water - fabulous service.

Great loved the pizza diffrent great

Mains were good and tasty. Small issue with the vegan pizza but the server noticed it before handing it over. Wee issue with the deserts as well, these things happen and the waiter and manager dealt with it well, which is all you can ask. All in all, I'd return to eat here again.

We went here on a Sunday and chose from their Sunday menu which was excellent value for money. There was lots to choose from and the food was good.

Best pizza place in Dundee. Never tried anything else but their pizza is a goodin. My son's favarourate place as well. Will be good if they allow kids to put toppings on their pizzas like some other famous pizza places in the country. That would be really fun for kids

Went here for a quick bite before going to a concert at the Caird hall on a Wednesday evening at 6.30pm. we were seated in 3mins despite the place being mobbed. Ordered drinks and burgers within 5 mins, delivered 5mins later. Burgers were ok, nothing special, and chips slightly undercooked. Service was great. Might go back and order pizza or pasta dish.

Had food food at this place for the first time. We were a group of 13 people. I was surprised at how reasonable the prices were. This was because the food was exceptional and the restaurant itself was to a high standard - modern, atmospheric, spacious. Whilst the restaurant is open plan, they have a good layout ans a mezzanine. Therefore, the mix of customers included romantic couples, families, and groups like us. Highly recommend this place if you love Italian. One of the very best I have been to, and yes, it includes the times I have been to Italy. One more thing, Tony's Macaroni is on the menu!

Length wait for food We were seated quickly despite not booking. Ordered food and waited an hour for same. . Although it was good. Desserts. Asked the waitress if there was any milk alternatives available. She said no but they serve Lemon sorbet. Our daughter wanted a coffee. A lemon sorbet wasn't ideal with it. She wanted milk... Food was good . When did you stop giving garlic bread with Lasagne? Don't know if we'll visit again

Place was heaving when we arrived at 6.30. Obviously very popular with families, and groups. Drinks expensive, but probably no more than expected by their usual run of customers. We enjoyed five different meals between us, including one from a 'kid's menu'. Probably best suited to the younger demographic, but we grandparents didn't feel out of place!

Having been to Italy and eaten in various Italian restaurants throughout the UK, this is a cheap, poor plastic version of an Italian restaurant . More like a pizzeria with some extras. I would not rush back. The draught lager was dire tasting with a 2 inch head.

Acceptable prices and food is good enough if you're in a bind and not sure where to go or order from.

As an Italian food lover from the United States, New Jersey to be specific, I must say that my expectations were not high when my wife and I sat down to eat at Tony's. However we were starved and figured, "just how bad could pizza and some chicken fingers be?". Well, dear reader, I can assure you that whatever you are imagining does not even begin to fathom the depths of Mr. Macaroni's depravity. The chicken fingers were coated in what I can only describe as cardboard beer batter which had been sneezed on with a premixed Italian spice blend. They were served with a "garlic dipping sauce" which tased more like rancid mayo than anything else. Thankfully there was a lemon wedge with which you could try to trick your mouth into believing you were eating something actually fit for human consumption, but alas, you were not. The true horror however came from the "stuffed crust pepperoni pizza" which my wife and I ordered. We had decided to keep it simple because again, we made the mistake of thinking "how could you possibly screw this up"? The pepperoni tasted and looked as if it came from the same distributor as Chuck E. Cheese, an American brand that is synonymous with a giant rat and sticky children. The cheese once again appeared to be a bagged, shredded supermarket special. However the absolute villain of this story was the "mozzarella stuffed crust". The cheese was a totally different consistency, flavor, and color than any other cheese product in the meal. It was goopy, with an almost gel like consistency and it stuck to our teeth and roof of our mouths in the worst way possible. As a cherry on top of this experience, my wife went to use the restroom before we left and described to me something akin to a scene from the horror film "Saw" upon her return. There was tissue all over the bathroom, there was urine on almost every service, there was fecal matter on the toilet seat and lid, there was hair in the sink, tiles were missing from the walls, and the lock was broken with a note saying they hoped to fix it soon. In short, if you are a person who enjoys food, not even Italian food but just food, stay far away. The staff was very friendly, quick, and helpful. They all deserve a better place of employment.
