Don Michele in Dundee City

Excellent meal. Visited two years ago and had to come back for our latest trip to Dundee. The food is fresh, super tasty, the portions are good, and the service is spot on. A lovely Italian restaurant.

The steak was perfect. it's definitely worth the wait we had. The service is exceptional. We had a 40-minute wait, but we didn't book so understandable. It's definitely worth the money!

Servers were all lovely. However felt like we had all been packed into as many tables as possible for Valentine’s Day. Had to squeeze past multiple tables to even walk to the main part of the restaurant. Then once we sat down we ordered drinks and food at 7:30. Our starters still hadn’t arrived by 8 so we asked someone and he got them out for us. Then, we waited for our mains which was until 8:30, when we asked someone again where are food was. We got told it’ll be out shortly. Finally our mains came out at 8:40 but one of them was incorrect. Overall, waiting 30 mins for a starter and 1h10m for a main isn’t great. Members of staff kept saying they weren’t busy and that was the reason for the delay but I think a bit of preparation would have helped. Was first and last time here.

Sorry to say , Pizza must have been grilled , top was fine , the base was soggy , not cooked in a pizza oven , cutting corners , such a shame

Really disappointing experience. Service staff were nice but not forthcoming at all, it took over 20 minutes to order our food as they kept walking past and even after making eye contact they still ignored us. Starter was served quickly which my partner said he enjoyed. However we then waited over an hour for our mains where we eventually left as we had plans for after the meal so never ended up eating it. The wait didn’t bother us so much it was more the lack of communication from staff, if we had been told it was a long wait time or if they had come around prior to update us/offer more drinks orders it would have been appreciated. I understand it was busy but everyone in the restaurant was getting unsettled waiting so long for food without being told why. I won’t be returning again.

Booked a few weeks ago for my ever luming 40th. When we arrived they took us in like walk-ins (they later sent my partner an automated message cancelling the booking. Staff were overly friendly especially the older gentleman with my 2 girls. I was told there was no other options except for the Christmas menu. Owner rushed over 'we will accommodate' Food portions pizza was a great size, the steak and sides were incredible, but the lasagne not so much portion was teeny the garlic bread wasn't worth putting on the plate nor was the salad. I asked for broccoli with my dinner and was charged a small fortune. Won't be back in a hurry

Cold, wet Sunday night. Not many people in the restaurant. We ordered white wine and pizzas. 1stly the wine wasn't chilled then our pizzas took an hour to arrive. No communication from the staff,no offer of bread or olives while we waited, when we enquired about the delay we were told they had problems with their oven but they seemed to manage to cater for people coming in for takeaway pizzas. Very unprofessional to leave us just sitting there for so long. We won't be back, which is a pity because when the pizzas eventually arrived they were excellent.

Great meal last night with the Scottish Ducati Club at Don Michele's. 12 folk well fed. Warm welcome and great service. Food was superb. Highly recommended.

Dropped in for a late lunch (and because I’d seen the special on Facebook). Lovely staff and the Cacio e Pepe was excellent. The place has been redecorated and freshened up since the last time I visited and looks fantastic.

Wife, son and I just loved this place, first time we've been. Not overpriced but good food, great atmosphere and service.. Thin, crisp crust on the pizza was so authentic, took me back to a tiny granny / granda cafe near Rome station in 1994. Spicy linguini and plain linguine catbonara all good..

Had a bit of a wait as it was really busy but the food was fabulous very friendly and courteous

amazing food, me and my husband visited here for the first time and the ataff couldn't have been friendlier and more helpful, we had the lasagne and the seafood pasta along with the cheesy garlic bread. everything was absolutely delicious and the tiramisu was to die for!

We turned up without a booking on a Thursday evening and got a table for 4 adults and a toddler, very welcoming staff. Food was amazing, the Godfather pizza was literally one of the best i have had in a restaurant in recent times. Spicy garlic bread was also top notch, i recommend it. Tiramisu was unbelievable best i have had and i had quite alot in my time as its my go to dessert if its on a menu. Staff were great, especially one guy i didnt catch his name, but he was very good with my little one, some restaurants dont seem to appreciate kids but this family run business seems to really like having them in the restaurant. If i'm back in the city i'll definitely be back. Thanks!

This was probably the most fun dining experience we‘ve ever had. Starters were really tasty (mushrooms and mussels). Only negative thing about the starters was the bread that came with the mussels, it’s definitely not home made, but instead just cheap supermarket baguette. Mains were good as well (penne and pizza godfather, though I have to say, the pizza was more like a tarte flambee than a pizza), but the three female waiters were just too funny. They kept checking up on us and making all these funny jokes. The italian cook was so friendly and chatted with us for the longest time which we really appreciated. The local couple which was sitting on the table next to us ordered and gifted us the „italian flag shots“ which were tasty and so fun. If you see this: thank you so much! Despite the great people I have to deduce a star for the food. It was good but not great (especially the pizza was a bit disappointing). The prices were high and they didnt have the wine we asked for. My partner had a sore tummy after (maybe from the portion size or the food itself, or something else entirely, we‘re not sure.)

Ordered takeaway. Food did not disappoint. Definitely be back for more.

Would you expect an excellent Italian Restaurant managed by a guy from northern Italy in Dundee? Me not! And since I stayed a couple days in Dundee, I took the opportunity to visit Don Michele four times - four times friendly service and fantastic food. Thank you!

gutes und leckeres Essen. Z.T. sehr unterschiedliche Wartezeiten. Wir wurden vor dem Nachbartisch bedient und waren obwohl wir später kamen, mit allen Gängen bereits fertig, ehe die Vorspeisenteller am Nachbartisch abgeräumt wurden. Für uns soweit kein Problem, jedoch war die sehr angespannte und z.T. aggressive Stimmung vom Nachbartisch schon ein Stimmungskiller. Zudem hatten wir nicht reserviert (unser Problem) und bekamen dennoch erfreulicherweise einen Tisch, jedoch saßen wir sehr eng, gefühlt den anderen Gästen auf dem Schoß.

La sopa en sí estaba muy rica (el pan estaba un poco quemado), los ñoquis con champiñones me sorprendieron gratamente. La decepción fue el postre, a mí me encanta el tiramisú y muchas veces es un postre que me hago en casa. El tiramisú que comí aquí no estaba ni cerca del tradicional. Los bizcochos de bizcocho estaban secos, sin sabor a café en absoluto, y en lugar del mascarpone, ¿era la crema batida?Atención al cliente: atento e informal. El personal era encantador, nos atendieron muy bien. Siempre se estaba rellenando el agua.Ambiente: acogedor, recuerda a ItaliaEn general: gran restaurante con mucho potencial, sin embargo, todavía hay cosas que mejorar. Visité anoche en la última noche de EOHO. Hemos comido varias veces en agosto, y este fue el primer lugar en la calle en el que estuvimos y nos pareció MUY inseguro. Las mesas estaban a menos de 2 m.Mi esposa tenía lasaña y dijo que estaba delicioso y bien hecho. Comí el plato de "risotto" más repugnante que he probado. Me lo comí porque me moría de hambre después de haber recorrido 50 millas esa tarde. Era una papilla seca de arroz y guisantes y trozos casi microscópicos de pollo (¡muy pocos!). Para colmo, mi esposa pidió una botella de agua con gas, y le dieron un vaso de hielo y un poco de agua de un chorro de soda skooshy. Cargaron 3. 95 por esto! Si hubiera sido una bonita botella de 500 ml de SAN Pellegrino o algo, entonces bastante justo, pero eso era simplemente ridículo. El lugar está sucio y sucio y el piso asqueroso. Claramente, cerraron la puerta con llave y no hicieron NADA. . . . Luego reabrió. . . . ni siquiera estoy seguro de si fregaron el suelo. No volveremos

Personal absolutamente encantador y acogedor. Muy atentos y haciendo todo lo posible para que nuestra experiencia sea lo más maravillosa posible. Para empezar, pedimos el Funghi Aglio y Bruschetta, ambos muy sabrosos y presentados de una manera original. Para los platos principales tuvimos el Linguine Pescatora y Branzino, ambos estaban absolutamente deliciosos y probando los platos entre nosotros acordamos que volveremos al restaurante pronto. El vino y los cócteles eran deliciosos y complementaron muy bien la comida. Después de haber probado algo de su comida durante y antes del encierro, continuaré alabando a cualquiera que busque una maravillosa experiencia gastronómica italiana.

¡Mi amigo y yo tuvimos una cena absolutamente fantástica aquí! Nunca lo había estado, y todo fue increíble. Para empezar, compartimos la bruschetta y los champiñones, que estaban deliciosos. Para los platos principales, tuve el Linguini alla Pescatora y mi amigo el Branzino. ¡Ambos platos fueron maravillosos! Un montón de mariscos en la pasta, con una salsa cremosa, y todo con el branzino estaba súper sabroso con una piel perfectamente crujiente. El vino y los cócteles también eran una delicia. El servicio fue increíble por parte de todos. Ambos volveríamos en un abrir y cerrar de ojos :)

I have been dinning at don michelle since they opened many years ago. Always delicious and authentic Italian food. We always try different things and they are always happy to suggest options. Love the chianti Reserva. Definitely worth a visit when you are in town.

Fui aquí anoche con un amigo ya que el restaurante todavía tenía el 50% de descuento. La camarera era una chica joven, servicial y comprensiva. La comida no fue nada impresionante. En primer lugar, los precios son ridículos, es pasta y pizza por el amor de Dios. No estamos en Italia y no hay forma de que esté hecho a mano. Nuestro plato de pasta estaba demasiado cocido y empapado y el risotto estaba asqueroso, parecía arroz fangoso con guisantes y pollo. Cómo puedes justificar 16 para estos platos, no tengo ni idea. No me impresionó ver la cocina y estoy seguro de que Gordon Ramsay tendría un día de campo. ! !

Al llegar nos recibió el camarero que cortésmente nos mostró nuestra mesa. Las bebidas llegaron muy rápido a nuestra mesa y tanto el camarero como la camarera llevaban máscaras. Las pocas reseñas antes de esto definitivamente NO fueron el trato que recibimos. Cuando nuestra comida llegó nos quedamos impactados por las enormes porciones. Para empezar, tuvimos la bruschetta y los calamares, ¡que era absolutamente precioso! Seguido de la lasaña y los penne sopranos. Ambos llegaron calientes y frescos. Sin duda el mejor restaurante que he visitado en mucho tiempo. ¡Gracias por recibirnos y sin duda volveremos pronto!

We had booked for our sons birthday as he loves traditional Italian food. This was an evening during the eat out to help out scheme. The waitress serving us was unfriendly and that was our first impression of the restaurant. Secondly the prices are extremely high which raises expectations of the quality of the food. The starters we had ranged from £6.95 for two small pieces of below standard bruschetta to £10.95 for antipasti platter which was poor quality and unappetizing. The arancini were cold in the centre which was alarming considering the food hygiene risks with reheated rice. Main courses included pizza costing £16.95, as per other reviews the pizza is very heavy and dough undercooked. The tomato sauce lacked any flavour and the pizzas were sadly not topped with any quality ingredients, very cheesy and we ate only small amounts of the portions. The risotto at 15.95 was warm but again not hot enough and certainly reheated and not freshly made. Final bill would have been greater than £150 if it wasn't for eat out to help out. Finally our son witnessed the waiter exiting the toilet and not washing his hands. The Male toilet was very dirty and our children had all used it. This is a tough review but it is necessary as it is not fair to charge high prices where standards are poor. This puts families health at risk where hygiene standards are not respected particularly now during the current pandemic. We appreciated the discount for the starter that was not properly heated but this was one of many errors.

Came here for dinner as our first time out to a restaurant since lockdown lifted as we’d been before about a year ago and loved the place. Service was friendly but the restaurant seemed quite understaffed. Drinks took a while to receive and my glass had lipstick on it. The menu we were given was set at around £26 per person for 2 courses which shocked us both a little. Overpriced by a good £5 for what you get. Food is good, especially the mussels (would have appreciated an extra bowl to discard the shells) but we just could not justify the price. If a pasta-based main course would usually be about £12 and your average starter £7, it’s hard to not leave feeling a little robbed. Also, my partners fork was dirty and our food took over an hour to come out. When we were paying, the staff member made a comment about the restaurants takeaway service ruining the restaurant side of things. Maybe this is something that should be reviewed. Shame as we had a fantastic experience here in the past.

Ordered 1 takeaway pizza and chips for birthday treat. Said 40 minutes delivery time. The order came 1 hour 40 minutes later. Was difficult to enjoy the meal as was so uptight with the excessive wait time. Go elsewhere.

I have visited this restaurant quite a few times before and enjoyed. I was however unhappy at a set price menu which I felt was overpriced at £25.95. As the eat out offer was on I knew a discount of £10 would be deducted so decided to stay. The food was pleasant enough but too pricey for pasta and soup so won’t be returning any time soon.

Set menu £26 for 2 course. So soup and pizza £26!!! Soup normally £6. That means pizza or lasagne is £20!! Quite obvious price up to then make it look cheaper by taking off government ,£10.

We had the very good fortune of being invited to a family celebration at Don Michele Italian Restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was exceptional and team treated us like VIPs. This was an absolute pleasure. 5 Star Establishment!!!!

We came here on Wednesday during our road trip. We read the reviews and booked a table a few days before.When we arrived, the restaurant was so busy and busting with life - a brilliant atmosphere.We were seated at a table and our drinks order taken and left to look at the menu.It was a while before our order was taken, due to how busy it was and the kitchen was running behind. However, we did not mind and were happy just talking between ourselves. The staff were really apologetic about the wait, however that was all forgotten when we tasted the food....... Oh My Goodness, it was goooooooodd.I had the Arancini Ai Formaggi and my boyfriend had the Antipasto for starters, both of which were lovely.For main I had the Calzone Tradizionale, which was so full of the meats and cheese, it was truly beautiful and filling I couldn't finish it all. My boyfriend has the Risotto Pollo, Piselle Pancetta, which was also really good. He was asked if he wanted some parmesan and received a bowl full - which he was pleased about.We didn't have dessert as we were so full but we saw other peoples and they looked really good.The staff were really friendly and welcoming. There was a slight mix up with the bill which was quickly rectified (it was a small mistake and easily done, especially when it is busy which it was - as a past waitress myself, I completely understood).It is really worth a visit and if we come to Dundee again we will be returning.

Very disappointing. We were a big table of 10 who visited on a tuesday night to make the most of the eat out to help out scheme. Service was slow and we had to ask for drinks as waitress was no where to be seen. One of our starters didnt arrive with the rest of them, we were told it was on its way 3 times but we cancelled it as it would of held up the whole meal. Food itself was also poor. Pasta very oily leaving a unpleasant taste and pizza was not thin and crispy like an authentic italian should be. Salmon dish was small and hardly any food on the plate. Our bill arrived and it was wrong, they had charged us for deserts twice. Aware that they are probably busier than usual but overall very disappointing from a restaurant that I have been before. Would not go back anytime soon.

Visited here my 1st visit but others are frequent diners. Lovely dinner and staff attentive, super busy which says it all. Food was delish couldnt fault anything. Happy customer and would definitely recommend.

Been here on several occasions recently and thoroughly enjoy every visit. Always made to feel at home with evey visit and the food is well worth the money. Would recommend.

I booked an afternoon table for 4 o’clock on February the14th and was told lunch was finished and the alacarte menu was available. I was fine as my wife and I were out mainly for a good meal. When we arrived we were given the Valentine’s Day special menu £25 a head , and as I didn’t fancy any of the main courses I Asked for the alacarte menu and was told it was only the valentines menu available that day . As we were already sitting we decided to stay and ordered our 2 course Valentine’s Day special meal. I had the soup which was ok (no butter served with bread ) and my wife had the bruschetta. We usually share a bruschetta as a starter and it is generally a good portion,but this was a disaster, one measly bit of toasted bread piled with chopped tomatoes. Once the piece of bread was eaten my wife was left with a plateful of tomatoes. We mentioned this to the waitress who offered another but that was too late.The main courses were fine apart from not getting offered Parmesan for the pasta,which should be mandatory in an Italian restaurant. We paid the bill and left ,but later I went on the restaurants website and found out that our valentines special at £25 a head meal cost £11 more than we would have paid if it was of the alacarte menu . So the Valentines special meal was merely a rip off. Looking at both menus we got off lightly as our choices were more expensive than others on the menu. Don’t get me wrong the food at Don Michele is usually excellent and this is a hopefully a one off

Found this place difficult to review. Have had dinner here twice with lots of different items sampled between us. Vary from ok to very very good - depends on what is ordered I feel but I suppose that is the case anywhere! Service was fine - slow one night but they were short staffed and the waitress made a heroic effort - deserved every penny of her wages! Didn't bother us as we like to spend time over a meal and drinks. Food reasonably priced - drinks are comparatively expensive. Surroundings are homely and traditional. Happy to recommend as a good local place to eat.

Fui a Dundee por dos noches y me alojé en el primer centro de la ciudad de la posada (al lado de v y un museo y descubrimiento, excelente relación calidad-precio, puedes tener una oferta de comida a 25 cada uno para una comida de dos platos más una opción de bebida y desayuno) y reservamos una mesa en don michele el sábado por la noche. Gran ambiente, personal increíble y la comida es para morirse! todos tuvimos diferentes platos, cada plato lleno de deliciosa comida. La pizza es la mejor que he probado en un restaurante italiano, absolutamente deliciosa! ! entrantes y platos principales y postres todos de primera clase. Inténtalo, te gustará.

We were dining as a party of four which included two vegetarians and one gluten-free. I wanted a smaller vegetarian portion of the carbonara pasta which was served up perfectly. My friend had asked for a gluten free pasta which also was no problem. The ambience and staff were brilliant. I recommend this restaurant highly.

I ordered the godfather pizza, and It tasted lovely. The dough was thin and crust, as I ordered, and tastes really good. The ingredients on my pizza looks fresh and tasty. I can recommend this place as a good spot for some good pizza

I and my wife visited this place. We had no reservation and had no issue getting a table straight away. The restaurant is beautiful and cozy. We can not get enough of it...atmosphere is unbelievable as well !

I have always loved this restaurant. I have been with family, friends and with my partner and all times I have never been left disappointed. Monday we opted to get a takeaway from here and we both got pasta dishes. I had the seafood linguine and I am still dreaming of it now it was just unreal and could tell the freshness of all products. I would 100% recommend to anyone to go try this restaurant or even their take out menu!!

Had a meal here for my son’s 18th Birthday. We all enjoyed what we had (pizza,steak and carbonara). The steak was the best we have had outside the US and my son loved the pizza and said it was on par with his favourite Italian restaurant in Glasgow. It’s a cozy atmosphere and we would not hesitate to return.

Estábamos asistiendo a una conferencia en el encantador West Park y había estado investigando lugares para que los 20 íbamos a cenar, encontré a Don Michelle y me contacté con ellos, recibí una respuesta casi instantánea de la encantadora Patric. Decidimos ir por los 2 cursos y oferta de vinos. Hablamos muchas veces antes de la visita y la bienvenida cuando llegamos tan encantador. Patric y todo el personal fueron muy atentos y serviciales, no la comida, ¡guau, guau, ni una queja de nadie! No puedo recomendar este restaurante lo suficiente, no puedo esperar el tiempo de regreso. Gracias Patric x x

A warm welcome is guaranteed when you dine here, good choice of Italian dishes freshly prepared, some menu items were unavailable when we were there but that did not detract from our enjoyment.

First time we have eaten in this Italian restaurant and it was absolutely lovely. The staff were very professional, very helpful and very obliging, nothing was too much trouble. Our meal was delicious and our requests for changes were granted. So many thanks . The place was extremely busy which is an excellent reflection of its high standards. Look forward to a return visit. Been here many times before so took my mother in law who can be very fussy. We had the tasting menu for 4 and it was excellent. Highlights were the mussels, gnocchi and pizza. The value for money is incredible - only £24 per head which includes 5 or 6 dishes and a dessert! Everyone was happy and service is quick and friendly.

Food was very good and service was prompt given how busy it was. One downside was that it was slightly pricey. However I would go back if in the area.

Food not as tasty or value for money as it used to be we were disappointed, bruschetta starter came on a slice of supermarket bought garlic bread as did the mushroom starter, my daughters pasta main course was ok she said my chicken main was very small piece of chicken breast and mushroom sauce was bland, I think they are charging quite high prices for definitely not the same quality of food they used to serve couldn’t fault it before , but due to circumstances haven’t been able to go for at least 2 years and noticed such a difference so now I’m able to eat out again will have to find somewhere else

Staying and working in Dundee for a couple of days, as a lover of quality Italian food, we thought we'd give it a try

Food is cooked to order, hot, fresh and really tasty. Service is second to none, so accommodating and attentive. Really good value for money. Would highly recommend this restaurant.

I really enjoyed the pizza that we had! Really nice crust and tasted amazing. Can't wait to order again!

We visited Don Micele on Sat 17th September before a wedding. We had to change the reservation a couple of times as we started of as a group of 15 but a few people couldn’t make it. When we called to change last minute they were very accommodating and couldn’t have been nicer. The meal was great, the food was amazing and the host couldn’t have treated us any better. We will all definitely be back and would highly recommend it. 5 stars all around.

My partner and I went to Don Michele yesterday for a meal. We ordered from the special set menu, having three courses and a bottle of wine to share. The food was amazing, can’t fault any of it - I had the mussel starter, penne sopranos main and panna cotta for dessert whilst my partner had a calamari starter, carbonara main and panna cotta for dessert. All of it was amazing. The owner was working the floor, very very friendly and attentive. His service and attention to detail was outstanding and made for an excellent night for us. Will definitely be returning as soon as we can.

Traveling around the Scotland we had chance to visit restaurant “Don Michele”, where food and service was excellent! Romantic Italian music and wonderful smell of food made our trip unforgettable! Recommend to everyone.

This has to be the worst visit to a restaurant I've had in years, service was appalling, waited an hour for starters that were never made, then another 30 minutes for main courses that were a mixture of the wrong thing or over done, dirty glasses left on the table!! Really poor experience. I appreciate it was busy, but get the correct amount of staff on. There were six of us there tonight and it will be the last time for us all.
