Party of eight dealt with smoothly and efficiently from the start with a warm welcome. Decor was nice as was the atmosphere Food excellent as were the staff

First visit to their new location in the town. Friendly welcome from young server, who took us to our table. Restaurant is bright and spacious, seated and given menus, ordered a bottle of white wine while we looked at menu.. A good selection of starters, pasta, meat/chicken dishes, pizzas, and desserts to choose from. We ordered Brusscheta and Calamari fritti to share, and the Bruschetta was delicious full of flavour. Then a Penne Soprano and a Steak Pasta with garlic bread and cheese. My penne pasta was with chicken, bacon, chorizo, chilli tomato and cream, the steak pasta was spaghetti with steak and a pepper sauce, both dishes were delicious, freshly prepared, well presented and very filling, We thoroughly njoyed our visit, and our food the serving staff were luvly, will definitely return and highly recommend a visit here. Well done to owner Paddi and his team. :) :)

We were there for a birthday meal and our first visit to the restaurants new location was superb. Greated to a warm welcome and given a lovely table to sit at. Served a nice bottle of Pinot Grigio while our starters were prepared. The calamari was very good, and the bruschetta was outstanding. Then, the spicey penna soprano & the steak pasta with pepper sauce was amazing. By this post, you realise we had a great meal. We will be back. LAST YEARS REVIEW. Great meal last night with the Scottish Ducati Club at Don Michele's. 12 folk well fed. Warm welcome and great service. Food was superb. Highly recommended.

I always get carbonara it was lovely i would give five but the music was far too loud I couldn't even or hear my friend haha please turn it down much love will be back again x

Very expensive for pretty bad food. I got bad vibes when we walked in, we had to wait for our table to be cleared despite having booked a day in advance. There were also little things, like lots of typos and misprints on the menu, vegetarian options weren't specified on the menu so you had to read all the ingredients to suss out which ones were veggie, and cheap decor (random pictures that were hanging wonky) that showed lack of love or attention to detail. The menu was also much smaller to what I saw online with little variety. The only dessert options for example were tiramisu or ice cream, so we didn't get one as my guest was hoping for something chocolatey. There was also only one fish main (salmon) and no non-pasta/pizza vegetarian mains. I ordered the mussels in white wine sauce starter as a main and it was quite nice (although mussels are basically impossible to mess up, and it didn't come with any lemon). My guest I was with ordered the pesto pasta as there weren't many exciting vegetarian options and found her pasta very heavy, overdone, oily and salty. It was also really expensive at £16 for just pesto pasta. She relayed her disappointment to the waitress but there was no effort to remedy it. We also got some garlic bread to share but it was just melted garlic butter on two slices of a semi burnt bread roll, not what I expected for the price. Should also add that none of our dishes were presented very well, all very basic looking. Not good value for money. Also the menu doesn't specify volumes for the drinks so my guest assumed they would be getting a draught pint for the price they paid, but was disappointed to see they only got a small bottle of Peroni. Would've been fine if they'd known that's what they were ordering, but again the menu didn't list drink volumes like most places do. More lack of attention to detail. Service for drinks was a bit slow (I watched the ice melting in my drink sat on the bar for about 10 minutes) but otherwise the waiters were working hard and I appreciate it was a busy evening. They were knowledgable and able to tell us which country some of the wines were from (again, this wasn't listed on the wine list/menu). However, they probably had too many tables to handle as I found the tables were very tightly packed in the restaurant and perhaps ought to remove one or two to make service smoother and have there be more room for staff to manoeuvre. Overall a disappointing experience. It would've probably been fine if the food was any good, but sadly that's what let the place down the most. Meal and a drink each for 3 people came to £73 before service charge, about £24 each, but bear in mind one of us only had a £9 starter instead of a full price main. Edit: I think the owner or someone has looked me up on facebook as I got a friend request from 'Patric Lochi' shortly after I wrote this review, which was probably a mistake as it was quickly deleted... but erm... please don't do this?

A very average pizza for an above average price. The dough was dry and stodgy, like a frozen pizza, and the sauce had no flavour. The toppings were fresh and the cheese was generous, but on top of the heavy and chewy base it was all a bit much. It wasn't the standard you'd hope for from an Italian restaurant - much more like a takeaway pizza. Also, it came with a steak knife instead of a pizza wheel, which dragged the cheese and toppings all over the place while I was cutting it! I would have gone for the pasta instead, but the two veggie options (pesto pasta or vegetables in tomato sauce) were both a bit unexciting. The restaurant itself has a good atmosphere but it's very busy. The staff we met were very friendly and knowledgeable, but unfortunately there seemed to be too many tables for them to handle. We made a booking, arrived shortly after our booking time, and still had to wait ten minutes for our table to be made up. It's a shame because I wanted to enjoy this place more than I did! But with the dry dough, tightly packed tables, delayed service, no pizza wheel, and the poor/poorly labelled vaggie options on the menu, there were lots of mildly annoying things that all piled up to make the whole dinner feel disappointing

Absolutely delicious I had the vodka prawns, so tasty, succulent sweet prawns, lovely garlic bread. Small cosy proper Italian restaurant, focusing on quality. Staff friendly and efficient.

I have been at Don Michele many times, a fantastic restaurant with fantastic service and they serve unbelievable cuisines. Credit to the owner and the staff involved, they have got a very good thing going.

Only one way to describe it absolutely unbelievable

We called, checked for tables and made a reservation. Got the table and then waited for 51 mins for food. Infact another table offered to leave because of the apparent delay in food service. After the wait (with absolutely no apology or reason) we got very mediocre / average food quality and a rather insolent restaurant owner who made it look and sound as if they were doing us a favour by serving food. Service was obviously understaffed and were they were trying hard to make the best of a bad situation. Overall there are many good ones out there but this one is a waste of time.

From the moment I walked in, I was transported straight to Italy! The ambiance was warm and inviting, and the aroma of garlic and herbs filled the air. I started with the bruschetta, which was bursting with fresh flavors. For my main course, I had the spaghetti carbonara, and it was cooked to perfection – creamy, rich, and utterly delicious. The service was impeccable; our server was attentive and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed. To top it off, the tiramisu was the perfect sweet ending to a fantastic meal. Don Michele is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Italian cuisine. I can't wait to go back!

More small plates, please!!! The starters are great! The mains...less so. We went on a Monday, and it was bustling! I liked the cosy vibe. Service wasn't perfect, but I got the feeling that they cared. Which is all I need. Definitely room for improvement. I believe that specials and small plates will be the success of this restraunt. There were so many couples around us that I think this needs to be their focus. Make every night valentines Day! Sharing small italian plates. And perhaps more family style mains? We had prosecco because it was the same price as the wine and I was so happy! This could be a regular date night spot... It just needs to focus more on the sharing. Believe me, food envy is not fun when you're paying so much for a main course. It all but disappears when you are sharing.

We visited Don Michele on Sunday for a family meal and what an experience! We're a notoriously fussy bunch however all five pastas were scoffed and everyone enjoyed them very much! Friendly staff and lovely ambiance, we'll definitely be back!

Table of 4. Place empty when we arrived, 17.15. Had to ask for our drinks order to be taken. Starters arrived timeously and were very tasty. However, we had to wait approximately a hour for our main course, Carbonara was cold and another wait for it to reappear heated up!. Garlic bread arrived half way through our main course and we stated we didn't want it at this stage of our meal. Total lack of communication between wait staff and the kitchen, who appeared to not be able to prioritise orders and fill them as they arrived in the kitchen, which meant those who arrived and placed orders after us, had their food before us? Cost of the Carbonara and Garlic bread refunded on our bill. Disappointed overall.

The website indicates that all dishes can be adapted gluten-free, that there are risottos and many more choices of pasta and pizza than on the site's menu. Arrived there: no more choice, no gluten-free option for pizzas and no risotto. Fortunately there is gluten-free pasta. The map on the internet is misleading, too bad.

We had a booked table and I was a wee bit P'd off that we had to stand in the doorway (holding the door open) waiting for about 10 minutes while people in front of us also waited to be seated. Once seated, the staff were amazing. Our order was taken, drinks arrived promptly. The food was absolutely delicious! My hubby asked if he could have a bit of bread to mop up the sauce - no problem, it arrived in no time, and no extra charge. Our prosecco was perfectly chilled, well presented and complimented the food beautifully. If I could suggest improvements, those would be 1) to have a proper waiting area, 2) have somewhere to hang customer coats /jackets, 3) dim the lights a bit and add soft furnishings to absorb chatter noise and put candles (even battery operated ones,) to really elevate the ambience . In my opinion this is a great restaurant that, with small changes, has the potential to be outstanding Ps...the ladies loo was immaculate ❤️

Two very bland carbonaras; one was meant to be spicy but was tasteless as was the regular Carbonara it tasted like a carton sauce .. No Garlic taste no parsley herbs nothing And a glass of average tasting house wine was £8.50 . 2x Bruchetta starters 2x white Wine + 1 irn bru 2x Carbonaras = £73.00 Have to say the staff were great but the food was small portioned and utterly Bland

Rhys made us feel welcome and catered for from start to finish. He was very knowledgable on all the dishes and gave really good recommendations. The food was delicious and plentiful. We went home feeling full and satisfied. Would highly recommend. I love the authentic food and atmosphere. Very family friendly.

What an amazing experience!! Came here with my family and friends, a group of 8.. and I can not recommend this place enough!! The steak was just top class.. and the tiramisu was out of this world!!! Staff were very friendly and the vibe was just great! Definitely will be back!!

Very poor experience. Food took well over an hour to be served, and when it finally came to the table the lasagne was cold.

My wife and on a much needed break chose your restaurant. I have no fault with the over worked waitress, she was lovely but she didn't get a tochance to breath. We sat at 6.30pm ordered and waited 45 minutes on our food. We ear out a lot but never have we waited so long for food. I was ready to walk out, pay for our drinks and leave. Then the food arrived and I was not impressed by the quality of the food. The cabonara was greasy and lacking flavour. My wife enjoyed her lasagna but the length of wait was unwarranted and poor. My review is not aimed at the waitress but at whoever owns and runs the establishment. It put a dampener on our weekend away together. I would say whomsoever owns the restaurant, you dont pay your staff enough.

Food and service were both very good . The restaurant was so cold ! freezing and draughty, totally ruined the night unfortunately . We moved tables but it made no difference. I regret bringing my guest here.

Went for a family meal here a week past Friday. Service was quite slow and after seeing the reviews I thought it was going to be really good. The food was average at best. I was left a bit underwhelmed.

Feels real and authentic, friendly staff, been coming here for a year regularly and it's always great getting recognised. Even if it's roaring busy they try their best to get you a table as soon as possible.

Staff were polite enough however were not the most attentive, had to actually ASK for drinks rather than the typical "hi can I get you anything", though this could potentially be put down to it being busy. The food was alright, starters were fantastic, we cannot fault them, but pizza was doughy. h However, my girlfriend said the spicy chorizo carbonara was good, though needed more pepper and was slightly soft/overdone, but that didn't matter to her specifically as she likes her pasta softer. The garlic bread is also literally a breakfast roll cut in half and garlic butter spread on top, which I think is a bit disappointing. We were however given a free shot of Ameretto, which was nice, and appreciated. Atmosphere was however quite nice. Cosy, and as I said, staff were incredibly polite whenever we got the chance to speak to them

We ate there on Saturday 11th January. The food was like something that came from a supermarket & we had one of the worst Rose wines we've ever drunk. We will not be back

I had high expectations of them, I think it was not their best delivery, there are some delicious elements but it is what it is.

This place was recommended by a friend when I was visiting Dundee and what a great recommendation it was. Busy family run restaurant giving that personal touch. Food was terrific as were the staff. Will definitely be returning.

Amazing. I've been twice in the last week and both times it has been excellent. The food is great and the service exceptional. Will definitely be back. In fact I've just been tonight and it was excellent as ever.

The manager of the restaurant, Patric, promised me that he will hire me. This was two months ago. I used to call him almost every week and he would tell me - don’t worry, next week. I refused two other jobs in the beginning, that were a bit father away from home, because of his promises. I lost so much money because of his fake promises. Patric, I wish people treat you much nicer than you treat people. Shame, Shame on you! If anyone leave any response from the restaurant, guys this will be a pure lie once again!!

Ordered on Deliveroo and driver forgot to give us 2 items. We phoned don Michele and spoke to manger who personally sent our items out with 2 complementary beers included. 10/10 food and 100/10 for the customer service. Will definitely be back.

Si quieres una buena comida italiana en Dundee, entonces te presento Don Michele! Mi amigo y yo tuvimos una gran experiencia, saludar al personal que era muy acogedor y dio un gran servicio que nos suministra todas nuestras necesidades. Nos sentamos y tuvimos nuestra comida frente a nosotros dentro de menos de 10 minutos después de ordenar! El Linguine Carbona era absolutamente hermoso. ¡Mi amigo compró The Godfather Pizza y dijo que estaba allí con una de las mejores pizzas que ha probado! La masa tenía una textura crujiente perfecta, también tenía un montón de cobertura. Después tuvimos que probar los postres, un precioso Cheesecake casero de Kinder Bueno Nutella que me pareció absolutamente encantador! Mi amigo optó por el Tiramisu y él estaba muy interesado en él también! En general, tuvimos una gran experiencia, buena comida, gran servicio de los camareros y en general una gran razón para volver en un futuro próximo!

Last nights meal was fantastic, the restaurant was busy but the service was great . Mushroom starter and the steak was delightful and delicious.would highly recommend this delightful restaurant.

Tuve una experiencia gastronómica increíble en Don Michele! La comida era absolutamente deliciosa. Empecé con la bruschetta, seguida de la pescatora lingüística, ¡cada bocado fue increíble! Mi novio pidió la pizza del Padrino con un lado de patatas fritas de trufa, y él estaba igualmente emocionado con su comida. El servicio fue de primera categoría a pesar de ser una noche ajetreada; el personal era amable y atento, asegurándose de que teníamos todo lo necesario. Una de las camareras con el pelo oscuro rizado tenía una sonrisa tan hermosa y nos hizo sentir muy bienvenidos. Incluso nos sorprendió con fotos gratis para celebrar nuestro aniversario, lo que hizo que la noche fuera aún más especial. En general, recomiendo encarecidamente este restaurante y sin duda volveremos!

Service is horrific. One person must take drinks another waiter comes 15 minutes later to take food even if you want to order all in the same time. Food tasted horrible. Garlic bread had some sort of honey butter on it? Penne Arabiatta had no flavour, watery sauce and no spice with a bunch of mushrooms and other unnecessary vegetables. Pizza also tasted frozen and cheap. Steak was £27.95 for a miniature piece of steak and barely any vegetables. Shocking for the price.

We don't usually go to Italian restaurants when we're abroad, but after a week of meat we wanted a pizza! We were not disappointed! The food is of excellent quality in a "Scottish" style and this confirms the Italian elasticity and intelligence in adapting to whoever serves. The environment is very nice and the staff are excellent! The owner is an eclectic person, a true entrepreneur, never intrusive but very welcoming. We will be back when we are in Dundee again! Overall, the restaurant and the food are good, worth visiting. My wife ordered mussels as a starter and steak as a main dish. According to her, mussels were amazing, the steak was good. As for me, the pizza was not the best of my life, in terms of dough I expected more. Food arrived a bit slow for us, although there wasn’t full house.

Worst italian restaurant I've ever been to.

We were first in so it was lovely and quiet. Service was excellent. A mistake was made with one of our drinks which was rectified right away with no fuss. Food was delicious especially the focaccia and I look forward to coming back 😀

First time in Dundee and thought we’d try this Italian restaurant in the hope of authentic Italian cuisine however it was far from it.The pasta I ordered had the smallest amount and pieces of meat I’ve ever had in a pasta dish as I had to search through the pasta and sauce to find any.My partner had the lasagne and thought it’s an Italian dish you can’t get wrong but unfortunately it was.Its fair to give restaurants a go but wouldn’t return soon unless the food improved and there was actually enough ingredients to satisfy diners appetites.

One of the best Italian meals I’ve ever had, service was also great and staff very friendly! Making it a regular spot now.

Dropped on this little gem for an anniversary meal and what a result. Friendly staff which are only outdone by the kitchen staff who gave us a fantastic meal to remember at a fantastic price. Will definitely be back as its a new favourite.

Dined here Saturday 8th June, birthday dinner. 4 of us for dinner. 2 meals OK but 2 were very bland. Also extremely small portions of spaghetti carbonara. Table booked for 7.30 eventually got served at 9.00! Hour and a half bit extreme! Waitresses nice and were apologetic about our lengthy wait.

Went for dinner with my partner. She got Penne Arrabiata, I got Carbonara. The food itself was lovely, but the portion size of the Carbonara was honestly the most pathetic thing I've ever seen. Maybe 50g of pasta? I wouls give it a 5-star review if the portion size were tripled or quadrupled, but as it stands it's simply not worth the money. The portion size for the Arrabiata was totally fine, it was specifically the Carbonara.

I really wish I could write a good review. Used to love this restaurant years ago so decided to return. No seafood choices on the menu and no Specials on the board. Only pasta dishes were spag bol etc and were o overpriced. The pasta carbonara was tasteless, shop bought pasta and portions were small. The staff were lovely and service was reasonable it's just unfortunate there is limited choice in Dundee for authentic Italian restaurants. Please Don Michele's do better I really want to love this place again and recommend to family and friends 🧡

Servers were all lovely. However felt like we had all been packed into as many tables as possible for Valentine’s Day. Had to squeeze past multiple tables to even walk to the main part of the restaurant. Then once we sat down we ordered drinks and food at 7:30. Our starters still hadn’t arrived by 8 so we asked someone and he got them out for us. Then, we waited for our mains which was until 8:30, when we asked someone again where are food was. We got told it’ll be out shortly. Finally our mains came out at 8:40 but one of them was incorrect. Overall, waiting 30 mins for a starter and 1h10m for a main isn’t great. Members of staff kept saying they weren’t busy and that was the reason for the delay but I think a bit of preparation would have helped. Was first and last time here.

Really disappointing experience. Service staff were nice but not forthcoming at all, it took over 20 minutes to order our food as they kept walking past and even after making eye contact they still ignored us. Starter was served quickly which my partner said he enjoyed. However we then waited over an hour for our mains where we eventually left as we had plans for after the meal so never ended up eating it. The wait didn’t bother us so much it was more the lack of communication from staff, if we had been told it was a long wait time or if they had come around prior to update us/offer more drinks orders it would have been appreciated. I understand it was busy but everyone in the restaurant was getting unsettled waiting so long for food without being told why. I won’t be returning again.

Booked a few weeks ago for my ever luming 40th. When we arrived they took us in like walk-ins (they later sent my partner an automated message cancelling the booking. Staff were overly friendly especially the older gentleman with my 2 girls. I was told there was no other options except for the Christmas menu. Owner rushed over 'we will accommodate' Food portions pizza was a great size, the steak and sides were incredible, but the lasagne not so much portion was teeny the garlic bread wasn't worth putting on the plate nor was the salad. I asked for broccoli with my dinner and was charged a small fortune. Won't be back in a hurry

Cold, wet Sunday night. Not many people in the restaurant. We ordered white wine and pizzas. 1stly the wine wasn't chilled then our pizzas took an hour to arrive. No communication from the staff,no offer of bread or olives while we waited, when we enquired about the delay we were told they had problems with their oven but they seemed to manage to cater for people coming in for takeaway pizzas. Very unprofessional to leave us just sitting there for so long. We won't be back, which is a pity because when the pizzas eventually arrived they were excellent.
