Cafe Roux in Walsall

Booked mothers day afternoon tea for me and my mom. Upgraded to bottomless cocktails for an extra £20 each limited menu with not very nice cocktails . When our afternoon tea was served it was shocking for £30 per person staff member even went to aldi to get my mom a pork pie as my mom was shocked that I had paid £30 each for what we were presented with, our table was booked for 1pm our 1st drink was given to us at 1.45pm ( shocking) the staff new this was unacceptable so they gave us 2 x cocktails at the same time. Cost me £100 pounds for a totally disappointing experience ( shocking )

My sister booked afternoon tea for a special 30th Birthday treat with all my closest friends and family. Cafe Roux made an error with the booking time and kindly asked us to bring it forward, which we agreed too. Upon attending we were told we needed to leave 2 hours later as they had another booking.. again we agreed too this. However 1.5 hours into our booking we were not asked, but told to leave as the next booking had arrived. We explained we had been told we had longer at the table, to which the waiter disagreed and said we needed to leave. We were in no rush to leave, had she asked kindly and apologised maybe we would have left, there was not one apology for the mix up and a lot of attitude from the waitress. My sister and friend paid an additional £50 for 2 bottles of prosecco to add to the already “poor” afternoon tea experience. The afternoon tea was thrown together with a pretty rubbish selection of sandwiches. We have received an apology with a complimentary afternoon tea, however not one of us are keen to return after such a rubbish experience. We asked for a refund of the overpriced Prosecco to which we have been told “its not our policy”. So you can happily take our money, but cannot return it as compensation for your own errors. Have visited many times and will most likely never return nor recommend.

We were deeply disappointed with our Prosecco afternoon tea experience at Café Roux, booked for a special occasion—my sister’s 30th birthday. Here’s a summary of the issues we faced: Booking Change: Café Roux requested we move our booking 30 minutes earlier due to their mistake, promising we’d still have the full 2 hours. Arrival: Upon arrival, the tables were not set up, and the presentation was subpar—no Prosecco glasses or water on the table. Food Quality: The sandwiches appeared hastily prepared, though the cakes and trifle were enjoyable. Service Issues: Prosecco wasn’t served until we reminded staff. There were no regular check-ups, and tea/coffee wasn’t topped up. Early Departure: At 90 minutes (instead of the promised 2 hours), a waitress rudely asked us to leave for another party. Despite explaining the time discrepancy, she was argumentative. Compensation: Café Roux offered two free afternoon teas as compensation, which we declined. We requested a refund for two bottles of Prosecco (£48), but this was denied. Overall, poor customer service and lack of care ruined what should have been a memorable celebration. None of us plan to return

I was part of a party for my daughters 30th birthday celebrations. We had already agreed to change the time of the booking, as they had "made a mistake with the booking", so we arrived for 1.30pm promptly as requested, the tables were laid out, drinks arrived fairly quickly but the afternoon teas took ages, when the food arrived, the tiered plates were all loose and food was falling off them, poor selection of cakes and sandwiches and scones that were burnt and hard enough to break glass, like they'd been cooked 2/3 times very poor for £25 a head. To top it all a very rude little waitress, who clearly couldn't tell the time,came over at 3pm and told us we had to leave as the next baby shower party had arrived(we'd been there for just an hour and a half at that point) We told rude little waitress we had until 3.30pm to which she looked at the 3pm clock and said but it's 3.15pm, you have to leave, which we didn't. On the way out l explained to the next party exactly what had happened and how rude the waitress was, they said there booking was for 3pm and they'd been told they would be free to set up at that time, clearly cafe roux owners/management need to sort there staff out and maybe teach them some manners and how to tell the time, at some point my daughter was offered two complimentary afternoon teas as a form of compensation, however none of our party will be returning to take the offer up and neither will any of us recommend this cafe!!!

First time here as a recommendation from a friend. Went last night for the Motown Night , great vibes , fab singer , friendly and helpful staff I had an amazing night

We often have a post run drink in Cafe Roux on a Sunday morning. Sometimes it can be hit and miss with loo roll and whether they have the drinks we want. Today the service was excellent. Our drinks were fab, they had biscuits. The toilets were clean with plenty of loo roll. We were thinking of trying a new place but we will be sticking with here for now!

A weekend morning “quick” cafe trip turned into more than 2 hours! We waited more than 30 mins for our breakfasts to be served. Egg shell in egg which then got stuck in my throat No oat/almond milk, only soy and coconut available. Lots of orders around us were wrong, sent back, sent to the incorrect tables etc. The cafe was busy, clearly popular but not prepared to deal with a full cafe. Will not be visiting again.

Cafe roux is 5 mins to where I live, fantastic food, amazing staff, not too far to stagger back after a great couple of hours.

First and last visit. Solo walking for a drink at 18:05. place was empty, only 2 other people here, asked me what I would like, asked for a pint cider, then she told the fully booked at 18:30. Since it was 18:95. Plenty of fir a single pin. Very Rude refused to serve me. Since she said I had not booked a table. Really? Dont need a table to drink a pint of cider fir an empty place? Find the attitude awful. Will avoid in future. Service rating nil points

Absolutely awful server. I have life threatening allergies so I checked on certain elements to the dish. I asked if the bun was plain; next to my friend and was answered yes. I also asked for two other elements to be omitted. When my food came one of my biggest allergies was present - sesame seeds- I sent the food back and was told that I had not asked. I said I had and she argued with me and basically called me a liar. She was also talking about me and denying I had asked in front of other customers, one being another friend, then denied that. What a vile awful woman who thinks I would not ask about my allergies, then not even care, but thought it pertinent to argue and call me a liar over a matter involving my health. I ALWAYS ASK ABOUT THINGS I AM ALLERGIC TO MY LIFE COULD DEPEND ON IT, so why would I lie !!!! Unacceptable behaviour all around such a bad representative for the business. I shall not ever again neither will any of my friends or family. My burger was dry good quality meat content but unseasoned and bland.

Dropped in to treat my hubby to a big breakfast. Ordered the big breakfast and two drinks, cafe was busy but they were so attentive and big smiles all round. Food was delicious, eggs nice and runny, bacon cooked to perfection. My only gripe was that hubby got more mushrooms than me 🤣.

Second time at Cafe Roux and it didn’t disappoint! Me and 3 friends went for the Pink tribute night and had a great time for our annual Christmas night out! Service was quick! Food was amazing, portions were so big I couldn’t finish all mine! Definitely get your money worth! Lovely little place with friendly staff. Thank you!

Called in for a breakfast with work colleagues. Never been before. Nice layout inside. Fashionable modern look. Not particularly greeted with a happy smile from the lady taking orders. Our table had a nosy / broken air con unit above our heads. I ordered a large breakfast. 80% of it was cold. Not particularly appetising at all. Staff Never asked if food was ok once served.

Booked with a group of friends for weekend entertainment, food and drinks. The staff were very unwelcoming and not approachable. There was certainly no customer service here, although we had a pre conversation with members of staff about the kitchen being open till 8 and that they were happy for us to arrive at 7.30 to 7.45 to order food this was not the case. we arrived at 7.40 to be told kitchen was closed they had cleaned down for the evening because they had no further custom strange when we had brought 7 tickets and they knew we were coming our table had also been given to another group. Staff were not understanding quite negative not good service.

This little gem of a place has great entertainment evening's. My friends and myself absolutely love it, staff, especially Nikita go out of their way to make you welcome and are super friendly and efficient. Although I live quite a distance away, it's worth the effort, I try to see most of my favourite performer's and I am never disappointed. Oh....the food is delicious too😋 Thoroughly recommend 👌

Popped in for a quick bite to eat, was really busy and they had an event on but the service was still great very welcoming everyone was happy to help, will definitely be back but will book in advance next time

Always a brilliant night here watching the entertainment , we have been a couple of times now Buddy Holly was amazing last night. Looking forward to the next time we visit. Lovely food and staff and lush cocktails

Lovely little cafe with a great cake selection. The menu has a variety of options and the mochas are delicious Booking is probably best as it’s quite small. There is a baby changing facility and high chairs Gave 4* and not 5* because of the service. The staff are friendly and helpful but you do have to ask for a lot of stuff, like whether to order with them or at the counter, for cutlery, for condiments, the bill etc. wouldn’t stop us going back though. Probably just best to order everything at the counter because then you lay there too. Would recommend

Had the most fantastic Saturday evening food and entertainment was 5 star just wish I’d got a venue like this locally to where I live.

Visited last night and will be the last...... Cold in there only one toilet Coctails 8.95 and tasted disgusting no beer on pumps only bottled drinks. All drinks are very expensive. Its not as tho they have to cover the cost for the singer as u pay 10 per head. Ten minutes to be served a vodka and coke they bring to the table. If you raise the bar charging so much for the drinks we naturally raise the bar in our expectations. Simple as Ow and if u complain u get a mouthful back with an attitude of that's how it comes it's tuff. Avoid this place at all costs you will get much better going to bham for coctails if that is what u want. At least they taste nice for the high price u are paying

Such a wonderful little place! Went for the first time to see a Frankie Valli tribute. The setting and decor is beautifully done. It was so clean and so very welcoming. Staff were attentive and the night itself was brilliant! The food people were ordering look delicious so we will definitely be back to get a taste! Cocktails also looked divine. Definitely recommend and will 100% be back!

It is very rare that even if we love a place that we return frequently but for this establishment we have most definitely made an exception! Consistently good. Fabulous food and excellent customer service. I am a creature of habit when it comes to cafes and restaurants, don't try anything new and stick to what I know I will like. Last Thursday we visited .... again.......and this time, feeling rebellious I threw caution to the wind to test the system and ordered the ham and mushroom omelette ..... really this was against my better judgement as for me ANY omelette has to be served with NO runny egg present, in any way!!!! yes, I know fussy or what? So, I asked my server if she could note that my omelette should be well done. I was very pleasantly surprised when said omelette arrived, cooked to perfection. It was A-MAZ-ING ...... at last!!! a cafe where the chef and the team go above and beyond to give the customer exactly what they ordered. No prizes for guessing what I'm ordering next week.....thank you Cafe Roux brilliant as always. Oh! and the coffee isn't bad either LOLS! Keep up the good work, see you next time X

My friend and I went to Cafe Roux last Friday and I have to say it is the best night I have had in ages. Delicious food which was presented lovely. Fantastic atmosphere and great friendly staff. To top it the male vocalist was brilliant. Cant wait to go back

We've eaten here tones of times for both breakfast and lunch. The food is always great and the staff are friendly. Great to have such a place on the doorstep.

My friend had hired out the whole cafe for her baby shower afternoon tea. Food was great and good selection of sandwiches and cakes. Afternoon tea was reasonably priced and definitely get value for money as scones and cakes are large portions. My partner doesn’t like fruit scones and they were more than happy to sort this by giving him a plain scone instead. Service was prompt and fast, all staff members were happy to help. Will be returning to try other items on the menu!

I visited with a friend recently for lunch. Parking was a bit of a pain as the car park is shared with Aldi and as it was a Friday the supermarket was busy, pouring down with rain and a queue to park but i found a space after a few minutes. Upon entering Cafe Roux it was busy with most tables filled. I had thankfully booked ahead. The tables are quite close to each other which did concern me not because of Covid but because I have always liked personal space. The staff were friendly. We had soft drinks a meal each. I had the carbonara with ciabattia which i thoroughly enjoyed and my friend had a chicken a rice dish which she also said was good, hot chocolates to finish rather than coffee and a pud and all was good. The toilet was tastefully decorated and modern but most importantly was very clean. Our bill was £31 so pricey just for lunch although the food was worth it and we like a treat when we meet up. We will go again and may even try one of the entertainment nights that look good.

Second visit here we were a party of 11 and we had the best time, food was excellent and the entertainment was first class we will be back and definitely recommend overall a memorable experience

This cafe used to be a shop/off licence knowing the area well I was really looking forward to visiting here to see how they had made use of the small space .plus it was getting rave reviews from a lot of my friends . So...

Popped in for breakfast with family members and all four of us had a fab breakfast. Two had the full English which was delicious as where the omelette and poached Great service too.

Second visit at cafe roux and always a positive experience, staff are very friendly and always service with a smile. Food is amazing and so worth the money I had the cheese burger and it was truly amazing! Look forward to my next visit
