The food was excellent! Fresh vegetables, giving you healthy options , and dishes prepared with great care. The service was top too! I really recommend this place!

Food and service was exceptional. Best breakfast I’ve ever had and I’ve had a lot of breakfasts! I’d happily give Route eight stars out of five!! If you’re in Hackney eat here! My son’s pancakes were epic, partner’s veggie breakfast was delish, and the beans, OMG.

Arrived for a late breakfast and ordered the vegan shakshouka and smashed avo. The place was packed but service was swift and with a smile 😃. Had high hopes for the food and it didn't disappoint. Truly delicious. Highly recommended!

Great atmosphere, went in for lunch, also ordered food to go. Staff polite and great service. Polite welcome, was seated, menu brought straight over, ordered coffee to start, then food, all fresh enjoyable atmosphere and great decor.

Mediterranean breakfast was amazing! we had such a great time! Staff was amazing and thank you to the curly hair guy behind the bar, he treated me and my daughter, super kind and funny, I really appreciate this place and the staff working on it , if you are around east london looking for a brunch place u have to stop in Route !

We had a really good breakfast that included an English breakfast and a lovely pancakes dish as well. Service was great and good atmosphere. I highly recommend.

I went to the Dalston branch this morning (8 November 2022) at 9:00 am sat down and waited ...... There was a guy in the kitchen on his phone, and one two members at front of house and I waited ....... Eventually, after what seemed an age I got up and left making a passing remark to the staff that I was unaware route was now self-service Dreadful 'service'

Food was absolutely amazing, vegan and veggie small plants were a highlight. Was pleasantly surprised by good portion sizes and beautifully crafted food. Thank you to the servers too who were very welcoming. Would love to come back to try brunch and the cakes!

Excellent service & delicious breakfasts. Freshly squeezed juices & Turkish specialities are on offer. Large portions - smaller appetites could easily share. Large tables to accommodate big groups. Very friendly team who were super helpful. Large jugs of water on tables was a nice touch.

I visited with my daughter and family for an early dinner. The first problem was their version of Shawarma which was NOT Shawarma at all; it was Pulled Lamb! Actually it wasn't bad but not what I expected. Shawarma, a Middle Eastern dish, should consist of meat cut into slices stacked in a cone-like shape and roasted on a slowly-turning vertical rotisserie (Turkish version Döner). The second problem was that the chicken served to my grandchildren was raw! The server said that she would have it re-cooked but my daughter, quite rightly, refused this offer and asked for a new meal to be served. As compensation we were offered two brownies which we refused.! Eventually the restaurant was persuaded not to charge us for the chicken. The third problem was the toilet which was dirty with no toilet paper nor a working electric hand-dryer or paper towels.

Delicious coffee and pastry, will definitely return for brunch. Staff are just so plentiful and it’s an efficiently run cafe. The staff are all very happy and cheerful. I sat outside in the sun yesterday and a nice added touch was one of the waitresses just bringing me some water without even asking for it. I am always passionate about supporting independent cafes and this one certainly has my vote. The brunch dishes and fresh juices looked delicious. I cannot wait to return!

Nice looking place and food on the menu all looked interesting.Went for lunch and the service was quite slow even though there was definitely plenty of staff in the restaurant. The servers were friendly enough, but seemed a bit all over the place and where not very attentive. Our coffees arrived lukewarm and we waited about 45 minutes for our food, we ordered the vegetarian breakfast and pancakes. They arrived on hot plates but the food varied in temperatures. Elements of the meal were nice but just underwhelming overall.

A very good restaurant gets four stars from me and only the genuinely best get five stars. If I could, I would give Cafe Route in Dalston six stars. The salads alone are worth the accolade (four salad price is great value) and are enough to turn this committed meat eater vegetarian (in theory!). My adult daughter and I normally find the starters and sides are the best angle into most restaurants to create our own “tapas” meal but Cafe Route has a main course menu that was equally hard to turn down. Cafe Route provides you with food far tastier than you’ve ever known and knocks your pre conceived ideas of what you might like. My daughter insisted on the sweet potato and the broccoli salad both of which I would not normally be drawn to but both of which were amazing, particularly whatever it was that the sweet potato salad was served with.Conversely, my daughter was introduced to kibbeh for the first time and the best baba ganoush we both had tried. The kibbeh was a single large one with walnuts rather than pine seeds and was my daughters favourite dish at first try. As with the others, the peach salad was served with the main ingredient cooked perfectly.I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough

Unfortunately the staff don’t seem to wear their masks when no customer is in/ looking. Just kind of sad.

Quick pit stop to get out of the rain. A green bean salad I had for a snack was excellent. Modest selection of "craft" beers hit the spot.

After a disappointing brunch at Jones and Sons nearby, we came to Cafe Route for a coffee and cake. The chai latte was one of the biggest and tastiest I’ve ever had and the cake was huge and delicious! The service was lovely (especially in comparison to the service at Jones and Sons) - definitely regretted not coming to Cafe Route for our brunch as well! Next time!!!

Not bad but I’m not sure I’d return. We had an evening meal for two and, while the service was good, the food was pretty average so expensive for what you get. My friend enjoyed his vegan meal which was packed with flavour however my chicken dish was bland with over cooked veg. Underwhelmed.

Great cafe on the way along the canal. And as I am an avid walker, every once in a while I get to go by...now I know that I will have there that turmeric oat latte. And if there is Marian, the super smiley, pleasant gentleman behind the bar, I will get it with a smile as well. Possibly some day I will actually stay for something to eat , so far that was not on the cards. Thank you for being open, being welcoming and most of all thank you for the best turmeric latte in town!

This is a watering hole on the Regents Canal walk. During lockdown obviously there are only takeaways although you can sit in the ground next to the canal. There is a table outside but social distancing is difficult. We had lunch there and the beef burger was good and seemed "home made". There were plenty of chips with it that were also enjoyable. They also serve a variety of salads and I would return here.

The location is great and it's really refreshing to see a Caffe on the canal that serves such great quality beverages. The environment is really great and the coffees and cakes they serve are really to die for. The service was excellent and the waitress was very friendly.

He estado aquí muchas veces cuando vivía en Dalston, sin embargo el domingo pasado estaba cerca y decidí ir a cenar antes de ir a casa. El chico que me atendió fue muy agradable, comí 3 ensaladas que estaban bien, pero no como solían ser. Cuando fui a pagarle a una italiana rubia de pelo corto supuse que había comido 4 ensaladas y cuando me preguntó, le dije 3 así que puso cara como ¿en serio? Y luego, cuando ya pagué y estaba guardando la tarjeta en mi bolso, ella dijo oh, lo siento, tengo que hacerlo de nuevo, ¡olvidé agregar la propina! ! ! I had the shakshuka which was delicious, and my friend had the smashed avo which was yum (although a lot of mint in!). Very friendly service and nice little spot.

We went with friends who had previously been to this restaurant before going to the Arcola Theatre. We ordered a mix of starters and mains to come at the same time to share. I particularly enjoyed the stuffed bell peppers, lamb shawarma and lamb flatbread. We also had a couple of plates of salad. The food was very flavourful and well cooked. The quantity was just enough with very little left. Service was very good, the restaurant has a really nice, relaxed atmosphere. The price was also good, roughly £25 each including drinks.

Popped in for a spot of brunch, really nice decor and staff, coffee was good, food was decent enough, good flavours and reasonably priced only complaint is that some of the items on my dish were a bit on the cold side. Definitely would return though.

Omg I'm still salivating at the thought of it!Parma ham, sourdough bread, tomatoes, mozzarella and scrambled eggs, drizzled with basil oil. Every element was stunning.Lovely friendly, attentive staff.Can't recommend this place enough!!

We were staying locally for a wedding...about 14 of us ... and had a wonderful evening meal here. Nothing too much trouble for the lovely friendly staff. A very tasty menu . So much so we also went back two days for our breakfasts and the full breakfast was delicious. I also enjoyed the pancakes and great vegetarian options.Amazing freshly squeezed orange juice..squeezed when orderedA Lovely atmosphere and definitely a great place to visit. We stayed across the road at the Premier Inn and this made a change from the food on offer there.

We popped in one weekday afternoon for a quick cup of coffee and a cake. We both had flat whites and shared a brownie - both were delicious and the staff were welcoming and helpful.

En mi primera visita después de esperar 15 minutos para ser atendido (cuando el café no estaba particularmente ocupado) terminé yendo al mostrador para pedir un menú. Me dieron un menú y esperé otros 10 minutos sin servicio, así que fui al mostrador nuevamente para pedir mi bebida y desayuno. We often stay in the area and we always seem to go here. The food is different, tasty and wholesome. I enjoy the avo on toast with poached eggs, and the coffee is of a very high standard. Worth a try for sure!

Regresamos a Cafe Route en nuestra última visita a Londres. Retuvo su magia. Gran comida fresca de estilo mediterráneo, servida con estilo. El personal es amable sin ser intrusivo, el restaurante es limpio y peculiar. Las bonitas jarras de plata ofrecen agua a la llegada y rápidamente se sirve un pedido de bebidas.

Never been before, the breakfast looked amazing . Yet the service was horrendous , seated and waited for a menu whilst others came in got seated , ordered and had food served. It took a fellow customer on the next table to alert the waiting staff. A lady who I believe was not on her section reluctantly came to us began taking the order while looking across the restaurant . At the end she said any drinks and my daughter ordered hers and then sternly in my face said ‘ any drink? ‘. With that I left.

I visit Cafe Route daily, lunches are great and the ambience excellent. Try their salad combo, very tasty, filling and nourishing. Also the staffs are very welcoming.

Arriving to meet a friend for lunch, staff where all standing around talking to each other.. took 15 mins before someone even came to the table to serve us.

Food is surprisingly good here. They have a very reasonable lunch menu. Vegetarian lasagna was very tasty. Salad bar has some fantastic and unusual items with aubergines, cauliflowers, courgettes, beans. Highly recommended.

My wife and I keep Route as our regular date-night spot. The three-salad combo and grilled lamb are always wonderful. The wine selection is always interesting, and the service is friendly.

Really lovely place, attentive staff, good range of very tasty food and drink, including vegan options! Unfortunately the music choices were quite annoying, I'd have preferred something a bit more mellow, the choices didn't really fit with the tone of the place.

Came in with a friend for brunch last week and it was FAB! I had a full English and my friend had a Mediterranean. Both were GOOD! I especially liked the honey and cream that came with the Mediterranean. I also had an Aperol Spritz and a Bellini.

Service very friendly and efficient, and ambience welcoming but my food was very disappointing. The chicken was unappealing to look at, only just cooked and sitting in an oily gloop. Had somewhere to go straight after, otherwise would have said something.

Lovely food - lots of vegetable and deli choices and great Mediterranean feel about this up market cafe. staff very pleasant and helpful. Decent sized portions . Discretionary service charge added. Just a very pleasant dining experience. Would definitely return.

Popped into this place for breakfast as we were walking back to Kings Cross!! What a fantastic venue to eat, Décor Staff, briil, But the food was so so good It was the highlight, I had a full English and it was deffo the best ever ever ever bacon sauage egg tomato, mushrooms, potatoes, toast all cooked and presented in a beautiful way My advice is if you are near this place and want quality food VISIT HERE!

Flat whites were smooth and flavourful. The Shakshouka was perfectly cooked and the eggs were still liquid inside. It arrived at the table steaming with crunchy bread for dipping. The Mediterranean breakfast was huge and delicious. Eggs, halloumi, Turkish or chorizo sausage, potatoes with peppers, salad, toast, cream cheese, and honey. Lovely service and cool community atmosphere. This seems like the kind of place to meet friends and hang out over coffee or tea. We loved it.

Conveniently located round the corner from Dalston Junction station. The service was good, and the atmosphere pleasant although a bit dark. My onglet steak was served rare as requested and was of good quality. When I requested a green salad (crunchy green beans and other vegetables) they brought me one on the house. The fig kadaif for dessert was stewed figs on a bed of pastry threads with ?maple syrup ice cream: a bit sweet for my taste.

My absolutely favourite place in East London for food! Every time me and my boyfriend visit we buy 2 main meals and share, nearly tried everything on the menu and are yet to have a bad meal. Perfect place for coffee or a healthy lunch too!

Four of us had a very good meal - with large portions (too large for me) early one Sunday evening. Friendly and efficient service. Only minor gripe a very poor beer list, but they had a good choice of wines.

On one of the occasions I came here for breakfast, I ordered this new beetroot dish they had and I was really disappointed. It's a pity because I do really like this place and come here a lot. But I felt like for this particular dish, they didn't even try to make it in any way appetizing. Hopefully this was just a once off and I don't have another bad experience here

Went here for a quick breakfast. Orange juice was squeezed as I waited, but was tepid. Cappucino was small and not very hot. They stuck 15% gratuity on the till receipt which was steep and also hard to avoid paying. Nice location and friendly staff.

Estar al lado de la ruta de vuelta en cafe I para el almuerzo y desayuno todo el tiempo. Su buffet de ensaladas, sándwiches tostados y pasteles son deliciosos! Me encanta que puedes mezclar y combinar todo. Ofrecen una gran selección de platos de desayuno y también puede pedir cualquier combinación" en el menú "de cosas que le gusta. My second visit to Cafe Route didn't disappoint me. It's not cheap but you get food of very good quality. If you like variations of traditional breakfasts you should give it a try.

We went here for brunch on a Sunday with a few friend. The place was bustling and we had to wait a bit to get a seat. The food itself was good and the staff was friendly and we also enjoyed the coffee at the end. All in all certainly something I can recommend, thought not 100% sure what the hype on TripAdvisor is about.

I visited this establishment on 17/02/18 with a friend. We glanced the menu from outside but saw it was quite busy no space, as we walked off we saw the fresh salad arrangements through the window & said Oooh! We walked down to the next place hoping for a nice menu & space but it was Tapas, which neither of us wanted. As we turned back we saw some people had left & raced back.

Decent decor, coffee good but it all fails when they add a gratuity fee to your bill. This is unacceptable, it’s not a five star hotel or Michelin star restaurant. Avoid the place, go elsewhere. Note to the owner: don’t treat your customers like fools.

I came here with my partner and his cousin and we had a great time. The guys ordered food and they were very impressed. I didn’t eat so unfortunately I can’t comment on the taste. It did however look amazing and fresh. The menu had a great selection and the price was reasonable.

I tried their salad one year ago, salad is very filling and they serve quality food. Was very happy to found this place.

Pre theatre Dinner. Had the tuna. Very generous and good side dishes. Definitely worth remembering in Dalston. Good negroni as well xxx

Cada uno eligió el calamar y cangrejo como nuestro principal acompañado por dos ensaladas ambas porciones eran enormes, o mi colega optaron por la oferta de 3 ensalada por £10. Mucho más pequeñas porciones. La calidad y la mezcla de las ensaladas fue correcto, no especialmente bueno. Las croquetas de cangrejo de la carne marrón y bastante empalagoso dentro. Así que estaban bien. Había tortas caseras, pero que estaban llenos de esta etapa. Probablemente vaya de nuevo pero mantenerlo simple.

I am so utterly disappointed with many a thing at Cafe Route where I’ve gone quite a few times in the last two years.
