The staff are very welcoming and friendly, and the food is very nice. A nice realaxed atmosphere. Would definitely recommend!

Went for breakfast this morning at Cafe Rouge,Epsom. We both chose the Rouge breakfast. I had my 2 eggs poached & my wife had hers fried. We also chose a latte & hot chocolate to drink. Very enjoyable drinks & breakfast, with excellent service. Will be back soon.

My husband and I popped into Cafe Rouge for lunch on Saturday and were very pleasantly surprised. I say this because the outside looked a little shabby but I have to say as soon as we stepped inside we were greeted by a warm welcome and after a few minutes we were given a choice of tables and then served by a very polite young lady, we ordered and our food was there, piping hot, within 15 minutes. The quality and size of portions were very good, a vety enjoyable lunch.

Epsom Cafe Rouge benefits from its dedicated waiting staff, food quality and authentic ambience. The relaxed atmosphere is ideal for long, lingering lunches with friends or for quick catch-ups. The food quality is consistently good, we are never disappointed. Hat's off to the management for getting it right when so many fail.

The restaurant was busy with a pleasant atmosphere.Our waiter was very good,friendly but without being over bearing.The food wasn't anything out of the ordinary but satisfactory.

The restaurant is in desperate need of TLC. The food is rather bland and a far cry from authentic French cuisine. The service is quite average too. Would definitely give it a miss in future

A lovely relaxing atmosphere with attentive waiter. We both enjoyed our three course meal. No complaints. It was also helpful that the restaurant is situated only a few minutes walk from the train station.

I could not fault the lunch (risotto, chicken and mussels) we enjoyed or the speed of service, which was attentive and not intrusive. The lunchtime special offer menu was good value for money. Cafe Rouge has an enviable position on the High Street, with buses stopping outside and the train station five minutes walk away. No complaints.

Fantastic food, atmosphere and service. I can’t recommend enough. I left a very expensive scarf at this restaurant and much to my amazement the scarf was found and as I’m not from the Epsom area, posted back to me! Needless to say I was extremely pleased! Thank you very much!

Met the fam for new years day brunch. We chose Cafe Rouge as they serve breakfast to 11.30 and it is is very good value for money and so much nicer then a cafe breakfast. We had a baby and buggy with us and the there was plenty of room to move the buggy and pop a high chair on to the end of our table. The restaurant wasn't busy today, it might be a bit different if all the tables are full as they are quite close together. Note you are not able to use any vouchers or meerkat codes for breakfast, our waitress advised they can only be used after 12 midday. We all had a breakfast choice of sort, I opted for a full breakfast with a poached egg which I really enjoyed. Service was prompt and good and we would definitely go back again.

Another negative review, I'm afraid.

I ordered a steak, chips and a salad from the main menu. No salad arrived and no waiter came by for me to request it. I could not see anyone to ask to reqest it. When I did eventually see a waiter I explained the problem and he said he was going to speak with the manager. It was too late for them to bring the salad as I had finished my meal by that time. The manager came to me and there was no apology except that she was going to deduct the salad from my bill. Well of course you would if no salad was received. I had also asked for a glass of water with ice. I got a glass of water with one tiny piece of ice in it. I thought it was very poor customer service.

Has the benefit of outside seating in an area where you can watch the high streets activities. It is Neo=french but having said that,yhe food is good.

My wife and I met three friends here for lunch and we were very pleased with the food, the wine, the service and the price. My boeuf bourguignon and my wife's duck confit were as good as they have ever been at any Cafe Rouge. Our friends liked their boeuf bourguignon and fish and chips too. I think the total price of £99 was reasonable for five main courses, a bottle of house wine and two soft drinks. The restaurant has character too, a quaint old building on the high street.

We hadn’t been here for ages but this was our second visit in 2 weeks which is unusual for us but very simply, the reason is consistency, from the excellent food to the superb service from the manager who is so friendly and accommodating.

Me and my partner we went for breakfast on Thursday, menu was quite big and had all the important stuff on it. I went for grande rouge breakfast and its was massive. lovely cooked poached eggs, nice sausage and plenty of toast. it was quiet and we had nice table next to the window. Service was good, our waiter Dominic was attentive and polite. We'll be back for more :)

I often meet a friend at this branch of Cafe Rouge for an early supper and the food is always excellent. Tonight's Beef Bourginon was delicious. I've knocked off a point purely for the fact that the waiting staff looked seriously unhappy this evening, not one smile all evening. Such a shame.

As a vegetarian I know that I don't have the largest choice ever here but have always loved the French classics of cheese souffle and dauphinoise potatoes add well cooked vegetables and it's lovely. While my husband has a French classic. Not so this time. Choices were anything but classic French and I ended up with a bland and dry chickpea burger and fries.

Good for that french flavour and with plenty of seats outside is fine when weather permits. I have sampled petit dejeuner(breakfast) and dinner, both of which were well presented and tasty. car parkin is opposite in the Ashley centre

Went here with friends. We had a Buy A Gift offer which provided us a 3 course meal from a set menu, plus a glass of Prosecco each. Our friends ordered from the main menu. I can recommend you try the garlic mushrooms for starters, the beef bourginoin for main ( the meat was so tender & melted in your mouth) & the cherry tartin for dessert. Our friends said the steaks were cooked as per their order & do give the bread & butter pudding a try, which has an alcoholic twist to it.

A shared platter and three mains plus wine £72. Platter pretty good but salmon and fishcake mains very average. Very ordinary wine very expensive. Service reasonable but whole restaurant in need of refurbishment.

We had a lovely cream tea courtesy of a present for my Birthday. With pots of tea and Portobello mushrooms croques, scones, jam, cream, 2 chocolate mouse and 4 cakes. I just couldn't manage the last cake!

We decided to go to Cafe Rouge for a late dinner and we were surprised when it was very busy. There were only people from staff but they did a great job. The food came out fast and it was the best meal I had in a restaurant in many weeks. Thank you Monika and Marius.

I visited cafe rouge for a quick cocktail and I saw advert for summer drinks. I ordered pink gin and tonic and the barman Marius prepared it quickly. It was just what I wanted

We visited this restaurant on a group on deal. Clean, friendly staff who were happy to chat and explain dishes and deals. We were not rushed and enjoyed a three course meal and a bottle of Malbec. Would recommend and will probably buy another deal to use in a different area.

Went here for a works do with 10 of my colleagues. The atmosphere was just right for what we were looking for. The food was of a very good standard and I can highly recommend the beignets. Nice to go somewhere thats different from an Italian or ‘pub’ food, like so many other places in Epsom. Will defiantly be back!

Such amazing time in the restaurant! I was there with my friends, we were served by Gosia, she is very nice and helpful. Food was delicious! We had onion soup and really tasted like soup from France . And the fillet stake with fries just amazing! I wanted medium rare and was perfect, plus peppercorn sauce amazing. Thanks you soo much for Gosia and chefs! I will recommend this place for everybody! :)

The Croque Madame is simple yet refined.

I was passing through Epsom and had a Great lunch in Cafe rouge. Food was delicious and The Staff very friendly. My waitress Monika recomended New Summer cocktail and it was very nice and refreshing. If I am ever back in epsom I will deffinitely come back.

My partner and I recently visited this gem for dinner on a Saturday night. We were impressed by the friendliness of both the management and staff. We had a lovely meal and nothing was too much trouble. Despite the fact that the restaurant was busy there was a nice relaxed atmosphere. We were also very impressed towards the end of our meal when our waitress suddenly realised that a gentleman who had literally just left the restaurant with his party, had actually left something personal behind on the table. She quickly followed them on to the street to return the item. Bearing in mind how busy the restaurant was, this was a very kind thing to do. Excellent service!

Came in for a breakfast while preparing for a day of work, and was greeted the very helpful Monika and her manager. Both where very welcoming. After having a well crafted cappuccino, I decided to go for 'The Rouge Breakfast'. Having the scrambled eggs, following the recommendation of Monika, I was not left disappointed.

I love this place, staff are friendly, service is good but the vegetarian selection needs expanding. But the Tagine is amazing so tasty plenty of it!!

We had a wonderful meal with my family. We were very happy that Kids starters came quickly. My husband had the delicious duck and I ordered fish and chips. A 6.30 booking with a friend for an 8.00 p.m. performance of Motown at the Playhouse - which should have been plenty of time. Walked in and the girl behind the bar was a right misery - could barely look up or smile - no welcome whatsoever. We ordered from the Groupon menu. By 7.00 p.m. we had to ask if our food would be much longer, we were told 'one minute'. We received our food at 7.10 p.m. and promptly ordered our dessert. My fish was good, but batter way overcooked. Mushy peas were a dubious colour, so didn't risk it. Tartare sauce, which I had to ask for, was laced with garlic, therefore, not edible. My friend's steak was over how she'd asked. In the end a rush. Lemon tart good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Three staff kept coming and asking if the meal was o.k. Leave me alone to eat - you'll soon hear if I have something major to say. If you're watching the time, I really don't recommend.

Had a lovely meal with good friend. Set menu food was delicious. Steak was perfectly cooked and the starters were phenomenal. Didn’t have room for desert. Definitely coming back here soon. Pretty flowers outside too.

Overall impression is very good, as the Menu is still the same - old lovely French meals, and vintage photos add to the atmosphere. It's a shame you can't meet many French waiters in and around London this days, but I assume that's another story ...

They have a very pleasant new manager at the caf'e, she is very welcoming, as well as the rest of the staff. You can sit outside in the warmer weather and watch the world go buy. Inside it has a lot of space at the back, and a few in the front, by the well stocked bar. Well worth coming in for well cooked meals throughout the day, or just come in for a tea or coffee if you want too.

It should be such a good place as it's cosy and warm with nice French pictures even though it's a chain , but my heart sank when it was decided our work friends would meet here, i did think it may have got better but a vain hope. No frites on or anything fried as the fryer wasn't working on the night. I ask you, the place revolves around steak and frites ! I did have rump steak which was as bouncy as a tennis ball and even cutting little pieces off was hard to chew. I felt sorry for the waitress having to put up with people who just want a simple meal reasonably priced being grumpy, not her fault at all .Either the place needs a complete revamp or closed down , we need a decent restaurant in Epsom , this isn't it.

I visited here on a weekday afternoon. I had a Vodafone offer for 2 free courses so was looking forward to a work lunch. I ordered promptly and waited for my food. I had gone for the Caesar salad and a croque. 30 minutes later and no sign of food..... How long does it take to prepare a salad? The place was practically empty so don't understand how the service can be so slow here. I asked the waiter where my food was and he told me 5 mins wait. 15 mins later I received my food. No apology from either the kitchen or waiter when I was clearly in a rush. I was left with 10 mins to eat my food before I had to be back in the office. Word of advice here if you're considering visiting this establishment - don't expect great service if you have a voucher or some form of discount!

Visited with friends on a Saturday night, dinner was awful, re-heated, over cooked and burnt all on the same plate, unbelievable a chef could send this out. Waiting staff were thankfully polite and helpful, but I went home hungry.

We visited Café Rouge prior to going to the theatre in Epsom. As one of us was travelling from London my husband ordered ahead of my arrival to ensure that we received our food when I got there. I arrived and twenty minutes later we still did not have our order. The waiter went to check and we were told it was coming shortly. Ten minutes later the food arrived when we had about 15 minutes to get to the theatre. The manager had taken the order but appeared not to have actioned. No apology from the manager or anyone else. The food was mediocre at best.

They practice preferential service here. We are rushed to make an order, but once we finished our main course we have to wait for 20 minutes before collecting our plates, while both the tables next to us get immediate service.

Went with a Groupon voucher I think we felt initially a bit like a second class citizens although they had only one other table occupied. However, the food was good and the service was Ok.

This review is unusual as it does not concern a VISIT , but a Telephone inquiry to Cafe Rouge at EPSOM .I made an enquiry about a upcoming change of Menu in late December and a Young Man called Daniel , explained that it was not something that he was aware of and referred it to his Manager “Monica”

This is the first time I have visited Cafe Rouge since being on a Restricted diet and I was very impressed with the choice of Gluten Free options. The service was excellent as was the food. I would eat here again.

My husband and I unusually had the opportunity to go out on our own so we decided to visit our favourite restaurant. As always, we had a fantastic time! 4 of us had meal here on a Sunday lunchtime. Restaurant was clean and staff welcoming. We had to wait quite a long time for our food. I ordered a salad with added smoked salmon. It looked good but didn't live up to its appearance. There was a small piece of cooked ham included by mistake and the salmon wasn't very nice. The sweet potato fries I ordered as a side were nice and crispy on the surface but soggy underneath. The dessert was good but I don't think it was made inhouse. The coffee was the best part of this meal...served hot and tasted very good. I wouldn't rush back to eat at Cafe Rouge.

The staff are friendly and the restaurant comfortable. The food is cooked well and they do well with the menu they offer.

Popped in here for lunch and enjoyed a pleasant meal. The menu offers a range of French dishes . Our food was served quickly and was delicious. Service was friendly and efficient.

I Visited Cafe Rouge in Epsom today . I ordered an afternoon tea as a treat for my niece and left feeling really disappointed. The savory consisted of what can only be described as two slices of bread sandwiched in between what tasted like a diarylea cheese spread/ triangle with melted cheese on top. There were no sandwiches or rolls, never had a cheese toastie with an afternoon tea before! The choice was either cheese and ham or mushroom. When i explained i was vegetarian and asked for half cheese and ham and half mushroom the waitress refused stating we had to pick one choice. My niece doesn’t like mushrooms so the waitress suggested we have the ham and cheese and she take the ham out!! The sweet choice was ok however nothing special and the tops of the Scones were burnt. Would not recommend, definitely not worth the money i paid.

We all had the Rouge Breakfast , but one had a vegetarian version and other ordered different eggs: poached, fried, scrambled etc... very tasty and well cooked shame the bacon was overcooked.

Booked for my son's birthday and it did not disappoint. Stylish decor in a warm and comfortable room. A good selection of starters with mussels being a popular choice at our table. Main courses were lovely too with chicken and steak being favourites. Limited choice of red wine and it was expensive, but still enjoyable. Total bill came to more than any of us had guessed it would be but nevertheless everyone went home full and happy. Beware not to bang your head on ceiling of stairwell on way to toilets like I did. It needs padding...

Cafe Rouge has a good choice on the menu and was an ideal place to use for an early snack lunch. The croques with a glass of wine were served quickly and with a friendly smile. And with the voucher for 25% off it was good value as well. Will definitely pop in again.

We went for lunch with my kids and we had a fantastic meal, staff are excellent especially Arind by being very attentive with my kids. Would highly recommend this restaurant. We had really nice time.

We have been to this restaurant many times before, and have always found the service and food to be very good. Our last visit was excellent and Erind who served us was very quick and friendly. Well worth a visit if you are in the Epsom area.

I expected more from such a chain but the food was acceptable. The onion soup was filling and rich, the mussels were sufficient for two but needed more sauce. However I wanted a smaller cheaper steak like you get elsewhere...steak frites. All steaks were £18 plus. I opted for hamburger which was awful. The creme brulee was good as was the ice cream. I just expected a little steak for lunch. The ambiance was good with a French lesson going on at next table. The service was good. Overall a OK experience.

Fantastic celebration, great attentive, helpful and accommodating service (I borrowed a pen, changed parts of my main meal and asked for ingredients of starter to be checked-all done with panache and grace!)

popped in with mate to refuel after i saw a voucher online, nice smiley manager (im guessing) seated us, menus blah blah.. had the chicken burger meal deal thing.. was cooked well, mate said his croque was nice. hadn't been here before but a nice place to grab a quick bite, beer and a cigarette a-la francais in the outside seating area.

We have stopped to eat here on several occasions over the last couple of years; the food is always good and the staff are always friendly.

We only came for cake and coffee as we heard it was a great place and just opposite the Ashley shopping centre so great location. Unfortunately both our cakes were dry and disappointing and the service was slow even though the place was not full.

Afternoon tea. Given as a gift for birthday. Advised no scones available. Even though booked over a week in advance. If you book prosseco afternoon tea, they don't include a cup of tea. Given tea instead of scones. Although told we could have a dessert instead of scone. Hardly afternoon tea without the scones and French version of sandwich, croque monsieur definitely different.

First of all I Want to say that the service of this resturant is good but a bit slow. the people who serve you are always friendly and very polite. The food however is not as good as id hoped which is quite sad.

Visited mid week on an impromptu night out with my wife. Have been a few times before and while the food is never spectacular, the building is nice and there's always a deal on so it's normally good value for money. Ordered some olives and aritsan flatbread to start with. The green olives were like leather and the black olives wrinkled and horrible looking. The artisan bread was dry and unappetising. For main I had the rouge burger which to be fair was nice. When I got the bill I was asked if every thing was ok. I mentioned that the olives were really poor and was told that sometimes they get a bad batch. No offer of a discount just a factual explanation. Before we went a member of staff approached me and asked some very odd questions that it would be unfair to detail here. All in all not a great experience but I should note that we had a buy a main course and get the second for one pound deal, so the price was not bad. Given there is a fair choice of restaurants and food pubs in and around Epsom I won't be back in a hurry.

Went here the other night with a friend and hadn't been to a Cafe Rouge for a few years now. Both of us had the set menu (salmon starter and then steak frites). Service was good but the meal was so, so bland. The most exciting thing on the plate was the ketchup!!!!

We regularly visit this restaurant and find the staff especially friendly and the food delicious. They have a very varied menu and the food is prepared and served very quickly.

We hadn't planned on having lunch in Epsom, but after a taxing morning where my youngest daughter had fallen and cut her peg quite badly, we decided we needed to have a break. They have a number of tables out front, and it was a sunny day. We say under the share of a tree, and ordered some drinks, and began to feel fairly mediterranean...
