Cafe Roehampton Gate in Richmond upon Thames

Terrible unhelpful rude staff. My son was injured and they advised they had no first aid kit and then wen I asked for ice I was rudely told no and then they gave me no other options and staff were staring at me. Also the wait to get your icecream once you had paid was very very long with staff saying they would not serve as they were off shift.

We have just experienced 2 of the rudest staff ever. From somewhere in Europe, they were surly, expressionless, and had a vile way about them. Not a smile in sight, and everything was too much for them. I as close to giving them a volley of abuse, but I’m better than that. Employ nice people.

We had the Buttermilk chicken sandwich, Coffee and 2 muffins, portion size was large burgers hot and fresh.

Ordered 1 latte and 1 hot chocolate and if I’d was asked to blind taste these I wouldn’t have known what either were. Hot watery milk was pretty much what we received. I don’t remember this cafe being that bad but it has really gone downhill since Covid. Avoid if you don’t like being disappointed.

Horrible coffee, dreadful croissant (almond) - the worst I have ever tasted - and no heating despite the 1 degree temperature outside. A miserable experience. I guess as they have the monopoly in Richmond Park they don't have to try very hard.

We went to Colicci Roehampton Gate Cafe today and will never be going back. It was bitterly cold in there with one heater on next to the serving area. The woman serving us was surly and uninterested. The coffee was tepid because the cups were so cold and the food took so long to arrive we had lost our appetite when it eventually turned up. Other customers were complaining too. They had taken an order over the phone which they were preparing before the customers that were in the building! Rude staff. Bland food that took forever to arrive. Like sitting in a refrigerator. Rip off.

My daughter and I visited the cafe after a nice brisk walk in the park . Looking forward to a full breakfast and coffee, ordered just that once the cafe opened. Firstly the coffee was handed over, then we waited at the table to be called to collect the breakfast by the till. Both of them almost cold, the four slices each were dry and no butter given. I went up to ask a man, older than the girl there, but by 10 years or so..just as miserable, yet I still managed to smile and ask politely for some butter. He came back out of the kitchen handing me two small rectangles to share. It was if he had just parted with his last £ in the world. We ate what we could, we even passed the plates back , not leaving them on the table..not a thank you, not a goodbye and of course didn't dare ask us if we enjoyed the breakfast..NEVER again..

Popped in to the cafe as I had some time to kill and ordered a flat white and bacon bap. Coffee was freshly made in front of me and hit the spot, unfortunately it was all downhill from there. The bacon baps are not freshly made and sit under a warmer so my brioche bun was like a rock, I popped it back to the counter and asked for a fresh one, after a few mins it was brought over, unfortunately it was not fresh, the bacon had been moved to a new bap that was half stale and being the original bacon was cold and unappetising. It does not take long to make a bacon bap and the cafe was quite so should have been much better.

Bought two oat banana smoothies here Sunday - watered down small bottles tasted awful £4 each!!!! Total ripoff & quality terrible. Suggest bring your own.

In a great location , lots of families and cyclists. But quality is not good. Feels like reheated frozen stuff , pretty tasteless! And expensive.

Sunday brunch with daughter. Lovely soup but chicken and avo salad tasty but needed tomato. Staff nice.

We stopped here for a quick lunch after a mammoth training session for an upcoming charity walk. It's very busy with walkers and cyclists and the outside bench tables are sociable with people shifting up to let others sit in the sun. It's counter service, select your own, with some dishes cooked / prepped to order. The sandwiches were tasty, lovely egg and cress, and very welcome!

Great coffee, food looked really fresh,this is a great location with fantastic views, nice and quirky, friendly staff and quick.

Great location. My new favourite place for lattes - the sausages are good too. I haven’t tried any of their other food so can not comment on that. The prices are high so 4 rather than 5 out of 5 from me.

With such a great location near the Roehampton Gate in Richmond Park (good sized car park right beside the cafe, park cycle hire shop next door, hundreds of walkers passing by) it’s a pity this cafe does not try harder. Good coffee but poor food. Cakes and pastries (all I have tried) are not of a high quality; the muffins are fairly tasteless. Service is offhand and not particularly quick.

Great choice of cake. The ones we’ve tried have all been delicious, except for one dry raspberry muffin. Labelling the cakes would be helpful for both customers and staff. Toilets are a bit of a walk. Very busy at the weekends but there surprisingly isn’t...

Just been Spanish water doggin in the park and stopped for a cup of coffee from the cafe and a piece of cake. £5.40 would be okay for a decent cup of coffee but I wondered if there was any chance that they had reused...

This is an ideal spot for a coffee shop with inside and outside seating. The coffee was fine but the cake seemed as if it had been frozen as it was a bit soggy.

The cafe is in a good position and offers a variety of food, but the cakes are very expensive and were stale and hard. They were obviously old and left out all day and should not have been sold. Avoid these!
