I went to Cafe Riverside's Greek evening which is on every Saturday evening. Small cosy restaurant with the feel of a traditional Greek family run taverna. Proper Greek /Cypriot food and wine - all very good as the manager is Greek Cypriot so knows the real dishes. Menu not too big but not too small. A good alternative to the standard but rather bland corporates.

Not a great visit, almost all of the menu was sold out, even basic lunch items. we ordered halloumi fries which were just lumps of oily halloumi fried in a pan, no batter or bread crumbs?? we had chips aswell which were very oily Cheese & Ham panini was served as a dry piece of poorly cut Chibatta bread, hardly any ham. All that and a 45 minute wait for it all, if it was busy I would understand but it was us and another table only. Won't be visiting again, other cafes in the town are miles ahead in terms of food and service.

Went for coffee and cake here, but was very disappointed.Firstly we ordered two specials, which was written CLEARLY on the black board in the middle of the shop-coffee and cake £2.95,LOVELY...only to be told when paying, with no apology ‘oh that should have been rubbed off the black board’You now have to pay for coffee and cake separately and it’s more expensive’...OK!!!!Well maybe you should rub that off???-Should have really argued the fact that it was advertised but being polite we just payed the price. My son had a chocolate milkshake, which he said was tasteless and looked like the milk had gone off, lumpy and curdled...yuk!!The staff didn’t seem very happy in their work and quite frankly we would never go there again....

We have been twice to one of Tas’s Greek nights and both times thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Plenty of wonderful authentic Greek dishes, you won’t go hungry! All served with a smile and the charm of a real Greek taverna. It was especially good in the heat wave last summer when we sat outside!

Interesting evening use of cafe to use as greek taverna style meal. Described by the owner as greek village style home made cooking, which is an apt description vs what one may expect at a regular meze restaurant. The fact that they are not licenced was a plus what with a small Tesco near by to fulfill your needs. I think this would be a good venue for a crowd as they seem to be able to accomodate most requirements. On the day I thought there was a number of houmus dishes where there could have been an alternative, salad was a bit sad.

My sister in law and I thought we'd try a newish cafe for lunch last week. It was rather disappointing. The menu had plenty of choice but when we asked for tuna and sweetcorn with may and jacket potato we were informed that they had run out of sweetcorn. Despite the fact that it can't be more than 100 yards to Tesco so someone could have quickly gone and got some. The mayo was rather scant. My smoked salon and cream cheese bagel was very nice, but the menu said it came with chives. They didn't appear. I decided to have a speciality tea. However the waitress didn't seem to know whether the Persian Pomegranate was available, I gave her my second choice and she had to look to find out which was in stock. If it's out of stock it shouldn't be on the Specials board. All the food was good, but I do have an issue with cafes running out of basics, when these could have been easily provided. The service was average and not as good as my usual haunts of South Street Pantry and Rosey Lea's.

We stumbled upon this little place as we were trying to find a coffee shop before leaving Bishop’s Stortford. This turned out difficult, as on Sunday most places close very early, but this little treasure was open and we were welcomed with open arms! Not only was the tea lovely, but the owners were incredibly lovely people! We were treated to beautiful music and a delightful conversation! The cafe is newly renovated and has a great home-y feeling. They offer affordable, home-made food; as well as various delicious cakes. The cafe also offers themed events (such ad a greek night) and fun events (such as a quiz night). Though we didnt have an opportunity to attend one, I recommend for anyone who can to parttake! Really lovely place! 100% recommend!!!

Popped in for a bite of lunch on Sunday, just off High Street past B and M stores. Independent Cafe with nice menu of food and drinks much more individual than you get in a ‘chain’ We had freshly prepared toasties with lattes very tasty Very friendly service and after eating the Owner Taz came out and had nice chat with us about his business. We will certainly return when in Bishops Stortford

With such a strong European feel and with a fantastic selection and choice of coffees, I cannot fault anything in all the times that I have been in here. The family run business and staff are always polite, friendly and welcoming, and will do their best to accommodate to all needs. I have also been to their new monthly Mythos Greek inspired night, IT IS A MUST TRY if you love European flavours.

We chanced upon this cafe just off the Main Street for a light bite in the middle of the day and although we only had coffee and a bacon and crusty roll with garnish we found a very warm welcome and the food was both very good and very reasonable in price. We would certainly make a point of returning again should we be in the area and we send the cafe owners every good wish in their new venture

Called into this cafe for breakfast while passing through Bishops Stortford, the first thing that hits you is the friendly atmosphere and warm welcome which is always good in a cafe, we all decided on the breakfast, I can honestly say that everything on my plate was cooked to perfection, after our breakfast we decided to treat ourselves to the lemon drizzle cake and it was a treat, mouth watering, will definitely be returning next time we find ourselves in Bishops Stortford.

Like one of those little place in London that serves perfect food in some little alleyways, this is a little hard to find, as well ;-) but the place is an absolute delight. It will be a nice surprise if you are just wandering about in the town and come across it.

Forget about those commercial cafes. This little cafe off the main street was a cute little oasis for a well deserved tea/coffee break. I had a excellent latte, good conversation and the shortcakes are fantastic. Will drop in next for breakfast!

My wife & I found this little gem in Bishop Stortford whilst out shopping when we decided to get some lunch. We shared a pot of tea with our paninis which were excellent. They were very fresh, tasty and not greasy. Afterwards we each had a slice of chocolate orange cake which caught our attention when we first walked in... the cake was fantastic! Very moist, good taste of orange and chocolate without it being overpowering and sickly. Worthy of a Paul Hollywood handshake I'd say...

After lunch here today with ourc17 month old grandson I was told there was no baby changing table in the toilets (it's advertised as a family friendly pub)so as a 68 year old grandmother I had to change my grandson on the FLOOR of the disabled toilet.I then disposed of his UNSOILED nappy(it was just wet) wrapped it over and place it in the flip lid bin in the toilet) The manager then came over to me and informed me in front of a FULL restaurant to remove the DIRTY nappy from the toilet bin and takecit home"We are a pub"we do jot have baby changing facilities"???.It was not dirty and I felt humiliated in front of the other diners.I shall not return.
