Visited this lovely cafe last week, the staff are friendly, the decor is vibrant and the counter full of home baking was quite something to behold! I had the pancakes with banana and syrup, honestly the nicest pancakes I've ever tasted. I would definitely go back the next time I'm in Crieff.

I’m sure this is a great place, however, we went in to the shop at 13:20, the owner was busy chatting to other customers, he didn’t acknowledge us so we sat down and made our decision on what to have. He then approached our table and rudely asked “you aren’t wanting food are you?” When we relied that we were he informed us he has stopped serving food as is shutting at 2pm. No apology. We then left and went else where. I wasn’t aware it takes 40 minutes to make a panini but there you go. Disappointing

Very dog friendly. Parking can be tricky and hardly cheap. Pleasant decor. Not very large. The menu has the range of dishes you would expect and plenty of home baking is on display. Prices were fine and the portion size decent. Staff were very chatty and attentive. The toilets and the area next to them needs a complete renovation!

We popped in this morning for some breakfast with our son. It was very busy but Martin was quick to acknowledge us and get us a table as quick as he could. The food was great and very reasonably priced. We also purchased some cakes to take away and they were delicious. This is a place we will definitely visit anytime we are in Crieff. Highly recommended.

Visited today for lunch. Lovely little cafe, quirky decoration, which I loved. The staff, who I assume are the owners, were super friendly and attentive. The food was delicious, and I had a takeaway piece of cake, which was also good. My dog was welcomed and given a treat. This is a popular little spot and obviously loved by the locals, as almost everyone who came in seemed to be a regular.

On a very cold and damp Monday morning we stumbled upon this cafe having just checked out the nearby hydro hotel. Open from 10 and serving breakfast til noon made this a perfect find. My cooked breakfast served on massive pancake was delicious. The presentation was great and the kids breakfast had a small side of chocolate and a lollipop. Only negative was the temperature but it was very cold outside and it had just opened when we arrived. With a limited choice for someone to eat this place is perfect.

A warm welcome as soon as we arrived. Very friendly staff, great selection on the menu, service was quick, an added bonus was the little treats on the plate for my little boy. He was delighted. So delighted to be back in Crieff and at my favourite cafe! When so many places serve the same uninspiring stuff, handed over in a bag to eat on the hoof or in the car it was an absolute joy to sit down in a window seat to enjoy a beautiful salmon bagel with a fresh green salad, followed by a positively enormous slice of home made lemon drizzle cake and a vanilla latte. So delicious! The couple who own Cafe Rhubarb are always friendly and helpful even welcoming my Jack Russell terrier! More power to them! If you are in the area, look in on them - there aren’t enough places offering that individual experience - the one that makes you feel special and welcome.

When on a visit to Crieff I stumbled upon Cafe Rhubarb. Could not resist going in. So welcoming the staff were lovely but not over bearing. The cake OMG absolutely spoiled for choice. Freshly baked! My only regret is that I don’t live locally so I could sample more of the menu but my waistline is ever so grateful. Would definitely visit again

We visited this café as a family after spending a lovely weekend in Pitlochry. Although the café had little to no social media presence and no website, we chose Café Rhubarb due to their good reviews and were excited to visit and support a local business! Upon entering the café with my partner, we quickly picked up on a very unwelcoming atmosphere which was then backed up by a very dismissive, what seemed to be manager, who mumbled at us to sit down. We very quickly felt like an inconvenience. The café itself was not well maintained. The décor was chic but needed updated/maintained. There was a major ventilation issue as there was condensation covering every window and there were plug in heaters around the floor of the restaurant with cables draped over the booths – not a nice atmosphere to relax and enjoy some coffee in, let alone sit and eat breakfast! Our family then arrived, and we asked if there was a way we could sit together, the manager suggested pulling over an extra table if we were to move to another booth. This was a great suggestion, appreciated by myself and my family but what wasn’t appreciated was again, being made to feel like an inconvenience due to the managers dismissive nature. The manager explained that staff had let them down. I can only imagine that with the customer experience being dreadful, the employee experience isn’t much better so understand why there are staffing issues. At this point, we were all taken back by the service so far as it is certainly not what we expected, certainly with our experience of smaller local businesses (usually keen to leave an impression to ensure customers come back!). We thought that maybe the food would make up for the poor welcome… we were wrong. The menu was very limited, pretentious and overpriced. We are willing to spend more on a good meal however the food was not worth even half of what the café are charging. My 9 year old niece ordered banana pancakes without syrup, she was served banana pancakes WITH syrup and was disgusted to find a long blonde hair on top of her breakfast. We sent the meal back and had it replaced with a fresh plate. My partner pulled a long hair out of her coffee, so did not finish the drink. The food in general was very basic and not worth more than what you would pay in a supermarket. Salmon gate… My sister ordered a salmon and cream cheese bagel. When served to her, she immediately felt uncomfortable eating the salmon due to it dull and lifeless colour, not to mention the brown coating on it! We, as a family, enjoy salmon and have NEVER seen salmon look this disgusting. My sister took the meal to the manager and politely explained that she did not want to eat the salmon and had lost her appetite so didn’t want to order another meal. The manager, again, dismissively returned the plate to the kitchen where the chef loudly expressed her frustration with the plate being returned. This was HIGHLY unprofessional and created a, what seemed like it couldn’t get any worse, terrible atmosphere. When paying the bill, the manager rudely interrupted me to say the salmon was taken from the bill which was the least the café could do after an awful experience. The chef then marched out for the kitchen to, again, defend the nauseating salmon. A note to the chef, please simply google how salmon should look, no article online will confirm that salmon should have brown lining/spots. I calmly explained that the price the café pay per kilo for that specific salmon was irrelevant to me, what was important is that my sister was served a meal she did not feel comfortable to eat and that the café had no interest in providing any sort of service to make her feel more comfortable or improve our customer experience. Needless to say, unless the management staff in Café Rhubarb can swallow their unwarranted pride, listen to their customers, we will not be back.

As a group of three couples with a yong child, we were all excited to visit Cafe Rhubarb, the reviews were good, as was the cafe’s location in Crieff. Unfortunately from the moment we walked through the door our experience was poor and only got worse. The staff were all quite rude and the atmosphere was unwelcoming. We very quickly felt like an inconvenience. The menu looked great, a bit on the pricey side, but we were happy to pay more based on the foot being of good value. Unfortunately, the food that was served did not reflect the quality, the price or the reviews. We ordered pancakes with banana for our wee one, it arrived with a long hair - which later was made clear to have come from the chef - who came out without a hairnet. The salmon bagel arrived in an undesirable brown colour, the £7 two slices of french toast were both burnt, and we had to remind the waiting staff of drinks that were not delivered. We also had to ask for cutlery, salt and sauces after the food had been delivered. We were happy to leave the salmon without a replacement meal. The chef made loud comments about the salmon, which could be heard from the kitchen. It was made unpleasantly clear that she (the chef) was unpleased that our party didn’t wish to eat a the salmon. The cafe itself has an evident condensation issues. As all the windows, mirrors and even the toilet walls/mirrors and floors were soaked in condensation. The humidity was quite uncomfortable and did not make for the nicest environment to enjoy a meal. My partner being a National customer experience trainer, tried speaking with the server about removing the salmon from the bill. We were met with a very rude and defensive chef and server, who were very loudly and rudely defensive. This created a very uncomfortable atmosphere for my group and undoubtedly for the the rest of the cafe. Some of the food served was lovely and quite enjoyable, so we really hope that the cafe consider their approach when dealing with customer service in the future. We hope they address issues with health and safety like the condensation and the lack of a hairnet from their chef.

Picked this place based on good reviews and could not have been more disappointed. Cold reception from the minute we walked in the door, almost as if us being there was an inconvenience. Once seated we then waited for an extended period of time to even be acknowledged again for food and drinks order. The owner was rude and borderline dismissive while taking our order, after another wait the food arrived and my daughters pancake was laced with blonde hair, one of the poached eggs was like a rubber bullet and the smoked salmon looked past its best. The other owner reared her head from the kitchen only to match the rudeness we had already experienced. Super disappointing end to a family weekend away. Hair nets and customer service training would be my first recommendation.

Unfortunately first impressions were not good. We were only in the cafe for a short period of time and we heard the staff telling customerson numerous occasions that they didn’t have this, they didn’t have that, run out of this and that. Yes I appreciate that cafes run out of things but it was an actual joke. My husband ordered a Coke float and by the time it got to the table it had spilt all over the plate. Instead of it being taken away and cleaned up he was handed some napkins to do it himself. Someone came in for a takeaway coffee and a member of staff had to nip out the cafe to get disposable cups. It just seemed to be a bit hectic and not a very relaxing experience

The coffee and cake were really lovely but the sandwich chosen was a little bland (my fault, I didn't realise it would be gouda/emmental style cheese which is pretty tasteless). However, felt like it was taken from a packet and not so much homemade if that’s what you’re looking for. I also ordered an iced coffee which was barely cold. The initial service was great, but when it came to paying we waited some time (made it clear we were ready to leave by tidying our dishes neatly and putting on our jackets). It got the point we walked to the counter. Possibly it goes from table service to pay on your way out.Would try somewhere new when we next visit Crieff.

Another trip back to my favourite cafe. During lockdown they have tried so hard to get the cafe ready for this Covid era and what a great job they have made of it! The decor is still gorgeous, and while there is a mask policy until seated in the brand new pastel coloured booths, the changes, taken together, made me feel cosy, welcomed and importantly, safe. The menu has expanded to include icecream and the most amazing sundaes. I had to try the chocolate brownie one - so delicious! Couldn’t decide between that and a rhubarb turnover so had both. The couple who run Cafe Rhubarb are really nice as are their staff. It beats me how they can keep smiling when they have to deal with the extra demands brought about by the current pandemic coupled with some of the rude, intransigent customers who don’t want to comply or who delight in making lives more difficult. Pay Cafe Rhubarb a visit If you are in the area, I always do! . The food, savoury or sweet is home cooked and delicious and the experience most enjoyable.

We were house hunting in the area and stopped by this lovely little place for lunch. Very friendly, family run cafe and lunch was very tasty, fresh bacon, Brie and cranberry crepe for me and a bacon, cream cheese and ,apple syrup bagel for hubby, both went down very well. Washed down with a couple of nice hot lattes. Good value and something a bit different from the usual menu. Here's hoping we find a house we like so we can visit more often as the homemade cakes looked very tasty too.

I stopped in for a quick note to eat as I was passing through Crieff and had delicious soup then the Sundaes caught my eye and it made my day. Thoroughly recommended.

Had a disappointing experience at cafe rhubarb. Initially impressed with the friendliness of staff and the general atmosphere. Unfortunately toilets were far from clean, food was very over priced and did not match the rave reviews written previously. Ordered a milkshake that appeared to be just flavoured milk, a poorly presented peanut butter and jam bagel that came with a salad?? (priced seemingly high at £6.25 ish) and soup that wasn’t too great either. After seeing a member of staff touching their hair whilst holding food from the fridge with bare hands we were slightly put off. When jokingly mentioning at the end that a sweet bagel with salad is rather unusual we were met with two defensive staff members who told us ‘we have to serve it with something’ and ‘the menu said you can choose between salad or crisps’ - equally bizarre! Could be a fab wee place however poor staff attitude, random food selection and general lack of cleanliness fall short.

What a delight to stumble upon this lovely cafe. Delightful staff, delicious food, well priced . Great people doing a good job. The place was spotless and I felt very safe at such a difficult time . I will be telling my friends and family . Sorry they had to deal with two rude vegan customers today who just were not satisfied with anything . Can’t wait to come back .

We were made very welcome in this lovely little cafe with its amazing selection of fine cakes. It's dog friendly which is a real bonus for us and the owners clearly enjoy having dogs there. Coffee was lovely and service was quick and friendly. I would definitely recommend a trip here.

We just came across this place by chance but so pleased we did. Great service, amazing choice of food and they really cater for you. Kids sandwiches were just perfect with a little lolly and sweets on the site. A perfect treat. I had a nutella and banana crepe which was amazing!

Popped in for a coffee and a cake. Wasn’t surprised to find they serve the biggest and most delicious slices of cake known to man! Both owners and staff were very kind, and FAR from unkind or sarcastic. Can’t wait to stop by again!

Great breakfast- very fillingThe new ice cream is delicious!Dog friendly too!!Really surprised by the comments of one recent review as I find the owners to be really friendly and kind! They have made some fantastic changes due to covid regulations - they have managed to make the place safe yet still feel really cosy.

Cafe Rhubarb has been recommended to me many times and I finally made it along last week! First of the decor is fantastic. The owner obviously comes from a line of artists as the colours are so vibrant and you instantly relax when you enter. I was greeted with a brilliant smile from Laura the owner and I decided to sit down and have a meal. Even in these Covid times the cafe was full of smiling people enjoying their meal and coffee. Service was fantastic and I finished with some fab ice cream. I thoroughly recommend this cafe. Tell your friends!

Still my favourite Cafe! Always innovative and dedicated to giving their customers great home cooked food, they have recently introduced a fabulous three-tier toasted sandwich to their menu. It is full of melted cheese bacon, chicken, ham, lettuce, tomato and finally, a fried egg peeping through the top tier! It is amazing and so filling. But not so filling that I didn’t have room for a very generous slice of their melt in the mouth luxury caramel shortbread. Cafe Rhubarb is dog friendly and always welcoming.. Try it if you are in the area, it is just so nice!

Lovely little cafe in the centre of crieff. Very generous portions with a (FAR) higher than average taste. I had the house specialty, the rhubarb club sandwich.. it’s fair to say I was rolled out of the place hah! Over all, terrific food and outstanding service from all the staff. Thank you, hope to be in again soon!

At the end of one the most stunning long drives in Scotland is this hidden gem. Situated by the edge of the River Lyon, surrounded by robins and swallows, we enjoyed a relaxed lunch of delicious tomato and pepper soup, quiche and a warm pastrami panini. Accompanied by coffee and lapsang souchong tea and served by warm and charming staff. Magical!

We haven’t been to the inn for a while. But as Sunday lunch here has always been good we headed north for a family treat. And treat it was! They have a new chef, Thomas, who introduced himself to us (and other diners) and was keen to know if we had enjoyed our meal. We had! This is not a traditional Sunday roast - it’s above and beyond better. The gravy was sublime. I asked what was in it and he said chicken stock and a lot of love! Treat yourself this is the best ❤️
