This spot was great. We had fish and chips and a burger and it was delicious. I would recommend stopping here if you are hungry or needing a quick bite. They are super friendly and fast too.

Okay place and food but in a possible attempt to get customers to trade up, pricing of chips only is not obvious. For a regular portion they are in fact £4.50 which I feel is too high and probably aimed at tourists.

I ordered a veggie burger with fries and had a question about it and the guys working behind the counter went above and beyond to answer my question. The food was delicious, and I got a piece of chocolate for free. Win, win.

Very very friendly staff, fish is very crispy and steak pie is very good as well. Made my night and would recommend to friends coming to Scotland!! Price is reasonable as well :)

Kebab with Haggis EXCEPTIONAL, the garlic sauce was stellar! Fish and Chips a solid 7. Last but not least: breaded and fried Mars, unusual but remarkable. It's worth a try if you're craving something special. Final note: Particularly friendly salesman.

An amazing chippy with everything you need. Chips and cheese were cooked to perfection and the customer service was on point. AND a free deep fried mars bar for us. Get yourself there, you won't be disappointed.

One of the worst battered ‘fish’ I’ve ever had, like chewing a grey bicycle tyre soaked in vinegar. Chips were stodgy and tasteless. Worst of all though - the prices. I ken Edinburgh is an expensive place but £17 for a single fish and an order of cheesy chips is mental. Overpriced and disappointing. Sad to see a great institution go downhill.

Perfect location city centre I love the customer service the owner introduces himself shop is very clean and welcoming this is my 4th time here and happy customer all round reasonable priced keep up the good work guys

I came to Edinburgh with the hope of trying the iconic deep fried mars bar! The experience did not disappoint - walking across the city to find this spot! Very friendly staff and a clean environment.

Possibly the worst fish and chips I’ve ever had, this is not my regular place but I know now not to even put this place on my list at all. It’s famously known for its deep fried mars bars which is probably only thing keeping this place running. I went in tonight for a fish supper and paid £15 for a soggy, barely cooked fish and an abysmal portion of chips. The fish supper was ready within 2 minutes of me ordering it and there was none behind the glass so I know they had to make a fresh one, alarm bells did start to ring when the guy asked what would you like on your supper within 2 minutes. The guy who cooked it was just lazy in my opinion and should consider a new career if you can’t be bothered to cook people’s food properly. Awful.

Was looking online for a place that did deep fried mars bar for my wife and her friends to try for the first time. Which they all enjoyed. The service was very fast & friendly aswell. Hope to go back before heading home in a few days.

Cafe piccante is an ok place for fast food in Edinburgh, service is fast and efficient, portions big enough and prices ok. Meat could be better though, I had the chicken wrap and had many burned or dried pieces.

The customer service was really good, I’ve never tasted a mars bar so amazing, would highly recommend to anyone who I know is thinking of visiting Edinburgh!

Food was nice as usual......2 kebabs! However, felt a bit sickened after eating and visiting the toilets, to see the guy who served me/food handler, leave the toilet cubicle without washing his hands! Bad enough if he'd just gone for a pee, absolutely revolting if he'd done anything else! Vile! I was right behind him as he went upstairs to serve an unknowing customer. Come on, it takes 2 minutes to wash your hands!

Been coming in here for years as on the way home from a night out on the town. The food used to be decent and the service and atmosphere great but recently the food has been awful especially the portions literally no chips present and the price extortionate. I guess this is pandering to tourists and festival goers at expense of the local custom

Been coming here for many years every time I'm through in Edinburgh and it's usually pretty good. Took some visiting family members to get chips and were shocked by the prices...£7.95 for chips and cheese ! I understand it's during the fringe but for less than the price of a sausage supper I can go for a 3 course lunch to restaurant in Glasgow. The food has went downhill too, sausages peelly wallly as were chips some uncooked...... We met a local regular outside who explained that because nowhere else was open that late they get away with it, she said she had no option as the other chippys were all shut. Tragic!

The food is really below average. I really do not recommend to go there unless you are starving and nothing else is open. Got the wrap, meat felt it was old and not properly put in the Freezer.

The food is simply terrible. If you are used to eating decently, run away urgently. Good luck to you

A friend told me that pizza crunch (deep fried pizza) is a signature dish to try in Scotland (also known for deep fried Mars bar). I read this was the best place for it in Edinburgh and am super glad I came! Delicious food and very kind service, would return 👍🏼

Only go here if nothing else is open. The prices are extortionate for the quality and size of the portions. Note that I have previously worked in a fish and chips shop. The smallest portion of chips with curry sauce cost £6.50 and were drowned in sauce that I couldn’t finish them.

This place was recommended to us by a local who works at Cocktail Geeks as he said Cafe Piccante does the best fried Mars bars. He was absolutely right. The chocolate just melts and it was so delicious! Highly recommend!

We came hunting for dinner options at around 11pm. We landed in Cafe Picante, as it was near our hotel and to our fortune open during late hours. The vibe was amazing, the music was awesome. We ordered margarita pizza, garlic bread and doner kebab. All of it was amazing. I recommend everyone visiting Edinburgh to visit Cade Piccante right in the heart of the city. The staffs were very hospitable and the service was quick. Abd the taste was cherry on the cake. Highly recommend 👌 🤩🤗

I ordered kebab and can of beer( they sell beer cans what not for individual sale and it’s illegal) I paid £17,5 absolutely rip off Wasn’t nice at all Wouldn’t recommend

Freshly fried fish and chips which arrived promptly and were perfectly cooked. Proper traditional fish and chips with a clean area inside for eating too, which was helpful given the Scottish weather outside.

My partner got chips and cheese from here and I had to stop eating the food because there was a small dark hair on my chips. This is quite clearly either a beard hair or pubic hair which is absolutely disgusting. Please ensure your workers wash their hands in the future and follow basic hygiene, I’m genuinely appalled!

We tried the deep fried mars bar and it is truly an experience! Although the batter does not add that much, the mars bar itself is perfectly melted (the batter has to be added so it doesn’t dissolve during frying). Thank you Murtaza for a unique and friendly culinary experience!
