Got a chicken salad sandwich and it was terrible( too much mayo) But we also got a cheesy toasties and it was lovely And the tea was lovely

Amazing little cafe, relatively hidden from plain sight. They serve a great Scottish breakfast Among other food. Coffee is great. and atmosphere is cozy.

Lovely little cafe in the heart of Edinburgh! It served as a great place to grab breakfast while waiting for the nearby National Gallery to open. Also has some great little streets to explore around the University of Edinburgh building as well as St Giles’ Cathedral. My wife and I split their full breakfast, and it was fantastic! Very reasonably priced, and a large enough portion that we struggled to finish it between the two of us. The staff was lovely as well. Would definitely recommend for a great breakfast or a quick snack while in the area.

Fragrant breakfast and warm service. I ordered the Ying breakfast. The yogurt bowl and cake were all good. There is also luggage storage service. It is very close to the attractions.

A casual, cost-effective cafe among the expensive restaurants around Edinburgh Castle! If you order a sandwich, it comes with salad, coleslaw, and potato chips, so this alone will fill you up. They say you can get a discount if you have an international student ID. Highly recommended for those who don't want to spend a lot of money near the castle!

From the outside it is almost unnoticed but once inside everything is perfect Very well decorated with a very Scottish style and good food. The little extra: they can keep the suitcases using the stasher application

A lovely hidden gem. The menu is excellent with lots of options and the quality of the food is brilliant. The atmosphere is friendly and welcoming and the staff are lovely - all had a smile and were professional and helpful.

Absolute chaos. It took 20min for a simple breakfast of coffee and porridge to arrive and then another 10min for my partners pancakes to come. All the while different meals were brought to the table. When it was mentioned that the service was slow and chaotic the server said "well we are busy at the moment " Not acceptable. Suggest go anywhere else.

Cute cafe but took an hour to get our breakfast and the chai teas were very small compared to what we get at other cafes. We will not be back.

In and out just getting a couple bits before heading to the castle. Nice little cafe with a selection of sweet treats on display. Triple chocolate pain au chocolat was very nice, so was the lemon white chocolate muffin, although stale in parts.

Lovely decorated chilled cafe. There are a few couch areas & both low & high tables that are spread out. Nice variety of artwork on the walls. Huge selection of sweet baked goods. Toasties, panini’s, potatoes & soup on offer along with the usual hot drinks & a variety of bottled fridge options. I chose carrot & coriander soup, a cinnamon bun, cappuccino & a take away tray bake. All were decent portion sizes & taste wise however what really let it down was the service of the lady serving. Enough for me to make a mention of it. Ordered & paid at the counter & was given the cakes immediately. Coffee was brought just over 5min later-bit much foam but hot & not overly strong. In that time another table of 3 patrons sat down, & in total 3 take out orders for 5 patrons. The lady initially came across as unfriendly, disinterested but not rude per se-and we’ve all had “one of those days”. But 20 min later I was still waiting on my soup! I’d now had to munch a good chunk of cinnamon bun & 2/3 of my coffee was gone. I was now getting annoyed as the soup just needed to be ladled from an urn! I caught her eye & only then did she move to fill a bowl & bring it over. No apology for the wait. I clocked a gent sitting next table over who had been there 15min with his drink & 5 min later was also served soup. Maybe she had a fear of soup?! But I was glad I didn’t order a panini that needed assembly & heating! Soup was a big bowl, hot & served with proper bread & butter & was a normal carrot soup, no seasoning & there was only sugar on the table. Bun was a tad heavy & dry but not overly sweet & soaked up my coffee well. Raspberry millionaire cake was tangy with layered textures which cut down on the sickly element of the regular type. Noted that tables were not cleared after 30 min but there were plenty of free ones. Never felt rushed to leave even after an hour. Noted that you can also pay to leave your luggage here. There is a small parking area out front, a ramp & space in the cafe for a wheelchair/buggies however I didn’t see a down stairs toilet. Roughly 7 steps to toilets. There is a Christian bookshop opposite in the same building so maybe it’s somewhere else. Overall, a nice chilled cafe with basic options at a good price with nice views & 10 min to both Old town & Princes street. I would come here again for the peacefulness & hope the service was a lot better. Visited Wed 2:30pm

The location and the place is very nice. The service friendly. The food was good, but there are places with tastier dishes for a similar price in my opinion. Of course, you also pay the location.

Nice chai latte. My sons blt looked lovely with lots of extras on the side. My other son said the pancakes were hard in the middle. I had avocado on toast with a fried egg, the 1 piece of thin toast wasn't much bigger than the fried egg for £9.50.

The Full breakfast is huge and very tasty. The staff are pleasant and helpful. Excellent.

Nice and cozy interior and the staff were very nice. Nice hot and cold drink selection. I got the BLT but it was all too cold for me. the bacon wasn’t cooked and the bread was untoasted. I should have asked about that before getting it. It was a nice sit down lunch experience otherwise.

A great spot off the main thoroughfare of the Royal Mile to rest and eat. It was really quiet when we came in, which was a bonus since most other places were packed with tourists. We visited back in July 2022.

Paid £9.50 for avocado and egg on toast- very small portion, very average taste - eggs were overdone and a tiny slice of toast and smidge of avocado. Overall quite underwhelming, unfortunately.

Really good chicken mayo tortillas and stuffed hot chocolate! Although hot chocolate was not hot enough. Enjoyed our time there, tried Nutella pancakes as well and it was good. Toilet needs more cleaning. Highly recommended!

Nice little no frills restaurant to grab breakfast at in the Edinburgh area. The staff was really nice and the food and coffee were decent. The price is also very reasonable for the area and had some gluten free breakfast options.

Inconspicuous place with nice food, decent prices and friendly staff.

We came here today, hoping to find a good, authentic Scottish porridge. Unfortunately the porridge seems to be made with the most basic rolled oats and milk (?). Ours came with sliced bananas, both of them were still completely hard/not ripe, therefor completely tasteless, just tossed over the oats. Instead of quantity you guys should improve the quality of your dish: less oats, more variety of topping, authentic whole oats. At least that’s what I would hope to get served when ordering a porridge in the capital of Scotland. Edit to reply to the message of the owner: We made steel cut oats our selfs dozens of times. The porridge served that particular day and time clearly wasn’t made out of steel cut oats. The consistency and the fact there were still uncooked/unsoaked oats at the bottom of the bowl would reveal the truth of what the porridge was made of to even a laymen. What so ever. Responding to an observation of a costumer by making fun of that person is not very strategic in my eyes. As I/we only shared our honest experience, not criticizing the location or what the employees wear. Our review could have simply been taken to improve the business.

Good food and service. Not quite as "touristy" as much of the surrounding area. A bit of an oasis really.

Essen so la la. Der Service war nicht in Ordnung(draußen ganz viele unsaubere Tische), ebenfalls die Toiletten waren auch nicht sauber. Das Bier war in Ordnung. Ich würde den Ort nicht das zweite Mal besuchen, bestimmt gibt's bessere Alternativen in der Umgebung.

Small cafe on a hill that oversees the National Gallery and prince street, and walking distance to the Edinburgh Castle and several museums. The staff was friendly in recommending me food, and it came very quickly. Good location to start your day or rest while in the center of Edinburgh.

Hier gibt es gutes Frühstück! Sowohl klassisches schottisches Breakfast, als auch vegetarisches Avocado oder Hummus Toast mit Salat. Der Einrichtung ist sehr einfach gehalten und lädt nicht unbedingt zum langen Verweilen ein. Aber das wirklich frische Frühstück und der höfliche Service ist sehr empfehlenswert.

Food isn’t bad, but isn’t great either. The location is really the main upside here. If you have time, other places have better stuff nearby for the same price.

If you're starting off early in Edinburgh, come here. The breakfast was, as the BFG would say scrumdiddlyumptious!! It will keep you going for the whole day. 10/10

Cakes are nice and the tea was ok, but only teabags so hard to mess up. Prices are a bit high though and apparently no customer WiFi? Loses a star for that I'm afraid. Nice setting though. Update: revising this review after subsequent visits. They do have WiFi, whether that's been added or whether the member of staff I asked previously just didn't know. Star added. Food is decent and the full breakfast is massive.

One of the best chai latte I have tasted so far. Cozy and cool decor with a city view (currently view is blocked due to maintenance barrier). Entrance is kinda hidden from the main street. Totally recommend it.

Cosy little cafe right by the castle. Great food and friendly, quick service. Very clean.

Visited yesterday and was so disappointed. Sweet chilli chicken panini was poor and very overpriced. Roll and sausage was also poor. £3.50 for a bottle of juice is ridiculous and totally unnecessary. A very poor lunch came to £17 and wouldn't recommend it at all.

We arrived at the cafe just as the manager had been informed that a member of staff had rung in sick. Despite this. The manager still managed to take orders, prepare and serve food with a minimum of delay. Another member of staff soon arrived and what I believe to be normal service was resumed. Admittedly we only had a bacon roll and a brew. The bacon was very plentiful and the rolls were equally as fresh and tasty. We visited later in the day and had an equally as tasty muffin and a refreshing brew. The cafe is tucked away behind a temporary barrier. The sign showing the cafe does take a bit of spotting. It is no frills, but it is certainly not as pretentious as other cafes in the area. It is also approximately half way between Prince's Street and the castle, so it is a nice stopping off point for a quick rest.

Clean shop, attentive staff, nice easy choices for hot food and cold snacks. Super cake selection.
