Soup was awful, tasteless, not even a trace of leek and potato as described. Waste of money , dreadful. It was hot flour and water , like bechamel sauce only thinner.

Despite saying they are vegan friendly, they are not. They used to be, and that’s why we went. Now, all you can have is a burger (you can buy that and cook it at home) or breakfast without an egg, or soup. Very disappointing.

A fantastic find by my cousin. My sister is back in England for a week and its been over 40 years since she was here last. I was there with my two sister all 3 partners and my cousin together with her husband and my last remaining Aunt. This was the 1st time for over 50 years since we all met. The atmosphere was lovely and we didn't feel rushed but the staff were very nice ,friendly and helpful. We spent several hours catching up without feeling rushed at all. I can recommend the food and desserts. We left feeling sated but hoping it won't be that long before we see each other again!

I have watched this café develop over the last 7 years from a motor bike showroom with a café, to what it is today. The food is superb, the staff so helpful and friendly. We hadn’t been to Gillingham since we purchased a motorbike from the now defunct Moto Corsa, but passing through we dropped in on spec as we’d heard it was now a cafe. Fantastic food beautiful building wonderful bikes. Came here with many friends on a bike weekend on our way to the New forest. Service was impeccable. As a group of fifteen people we’d thought getting meals out pretty quick and tighter normally is a problem but these guys managed to hit it perfectly. Hot yummy food and at an amazing price. Great environment with all the bikes. Some great history and really is greatly arranged. We’d been sat on an extremely long table and didn’t feel all huddled together. Loos clean and tidy. I visited with my family as we fancied breakfast out. It has a really good atmosphere and if you like motorbikes then it is the place to be as you are in the showroom and surrounded by bikes. I felt it was a bit overpriced (£35 for 1 large breakfast, one full English, Scrambled egg on toast & bacon and eggs, 2 coffees, 2 soft drinks) The menu was a little out of kilter though, the Large breakfast wasn't enormous but the scrambled eggs was huge. The food was good quality though and the atmosphere was fun - lots of beautifully behaved bikers from all over the South. It was a miserable day when we went but it has a lovely outside area. It was great for slightly older kids but I wouldn't go there with toddlers as there are too many bikes to knock over and a very large pond (with an island) plus 2 more ponds so plenty of hazards for tiny ones.

Cafe Newt is fast becoming a firm favourite. It is in a converted old building which is now a motorcycle showroom. You can walk in the front, but parking is at the back and access is through the garden, which is lovely, with plenty of room to sit out at the summer. Inside the cafe is clean and welcoming, with wooden tables and chairs as well as a sofa and arm chairs.. This is by no means exclusively a bikers' cafe, and everyone, including the dog, is made welcome by the friendly and helpful staff. The menu is very good cafe fare. Stopped in passing, attracted by the wonderful display of motorcycles. Best described as a cafe within a motorcycle emporium. Browse the 'bikes whilst coffee being prepared. Enthusiasts should fetch a camera to record images of MV's ,NORTONS, APRILIAS, HARLEYS, 'GUZZI's, and 3 BROUGH's. Now to the cafe, a proper Dorset welcome from both staff and the manager. Coffee, an americano, and a skinny decaf latte were very good. Food consisted of a tuna melt and a Cornish pastie and side salad. These folks are professionals, they know to keep cucumber away and separate from

We held our daughters baby shower for 25 people here at the weekend, Alex put on a superb buffet and drinks (non and alcoholic). So helpful in letting us set up the room beforehand with a balloon arch and arranging a few tables. Everyone commented on what a lovely venue and how nice and friendly the staff were looking after us all afternoon. Alex and his teams award winning cocktails are a must to try,

We popped in today as our usual cafe was closed! I can see now why we don't visit the black cactus. This isn't the first time, but the two members of staff, who weren't busy dealing with lots of customers, weren't the most friendliest unfortunately. I completely understand they were writing the memo board and sorting that out, but I don't understand why they cheerfully couldn't have explained they would be with us in a minute. There were no happy faces etc. Then the flap Jack's we had weren't the best, but you win some and lose some. When it came to leaving, it was like we weren't even there. No goodbye, thanks for coming, nothing, and to reiterate, they were not busy serving customers. I'm sure many people have had great service there, but unfortunately we have not. So we won't be returning.... Shame!

Eye wateringly expensive if you need to buy something to take home for lunch. 3 slices of quiche £22.50. Only 50p each less than having it heated on a plate with salad. Arrrgh.
