Although not in the centre of whetstone , this restaurant / cafe one to to the ESSO petrol station is certainly worth a visit . Thief premises are clean and tidy and uncluttered . The owner was very friendly and personable . The menu offers a good choice whether you want breakfasts, full English , vegetarian and Middle Eastern or a more substantial lunch or evening meal. My wife popped in for a mid afternoon snack prior to meeting our son and daughter for a meal later in the evening . We both plumped for smoked salmon with cream cheese , my wife chose hers with ciabatta bread and I chose baguette. We both had a freshly made coffee that tasted good too. We thought the food was good value as was the more heartier dishes. Certainly worth the extra steps along High Road for good food.

Five of us visited the Mona Lisa Cafe for lunch last week, and we had a splendid lunch, as always. I have been going there for over 30 years, with all my family and many friends and have never been disappointed. Josh, the owner, is amazing and prepares fresh, very tasty, reasonably priced meals, snacks and take-aways. Best value in North London.

Just stopped here on the off chance while charging EV next door. The food was delicious, had the Chicken Schnitzel Holstein, the chicken was beautifully tender while the coating of breadcrumbs was satisfyingly crispy. Lovely host, very friendly. Perfect atmosphere, be it business or pleasure, family/couples or solo all would be welcome. Give it a go!! We will certainly visit again, highly recommend. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Great little café, friendly, welcoming owner, fresh cooked good quality food at a very reasonable price

This is an amazing cafe restaurant. The food is fresh and delicious and the owner is lovely. The salads are generous and so fresh, the smoked salmon in the salads is very high quality. Also they do the BEST chips around. It's a quaint cute little place and deserves highest praise for a casual lunch or dinner.

This local restaurant serves consistently good food at very reasonable prices. Excellent, attentive service . The chicken schnitzel is a delight.

We have been coming here for years! It's a hidden gem. Fantastic choices, all food cooked from scratch good wholesome foods served hot, fresh and with a warm welcome and service. Covid protocols all in place. I can't understand why it isn't busier, except its on the high Rd on a small parade. Parking in the daytime free opposite before 4pm.

Have gone to Mona Lisa for years... Last visit was after months of lockdown. All the C-19 protocols were in place, the food was still yummy, and best of all, the owners recognised us and knew our typical choices so offered those to us first. Talk about personalised service!

I've been coming here since I was about 7 years old. I'm 30 now. Wherever I go in the world, I will have a Chicken Schnitzel. As far as Tel Aviv to Beijing, I will find somewhere that does a Schnitzel. I got to say, the Mona Lisa one is still my favourite. I don't live in Whetstone any more but when I'm in England, I do my best to pop in - as do my parents. If you guys see this, I'm sure you'll figure out who I am. Hope you're well!

This is a a classic local cafe, one which I’ve been visiting on and off for around 18 years. Whether it’s a perfectly cooked fresh, clean breakfast or a delicious chorizo penne pasta or a fabulous omelette and a darn fine cup of coffee you fancy, you can’t go wrong with Mona Lisa. All wrapped up with friendly unpretentious service, it’s a must.

Absolutely delicious food and great service. The specials are so yummy, but nothing beats their desserts. Highly recommend.

Good food, fast service and good prices. The owners are very obliging and helpful. Portions are more than adequate and comes hot, unlike some places I've been to. Very popular with older clientele and middle aged but there is something for everyone. Nice people, good food and a pleasant atmosphere.

Came here for a late lunch with my wife and we had a great time. The place is so welcoming, the atmosphere relaxed and the service attentive. The food was wonderful - lovingly prepared, delicious and very reasonably priced. The salt beef had a lovely texture and flavour, the wiener schnitzel was cooked to perfection and the lemon posset with berries was so indulgently rich and creamy. Would definitely visit again and recommend to family and friends.

This unassuming little eatery is a gem of a place. The genuinely home-cooked food is prepared and served by the caring owner. Be sure to try the chicken schnitzel is delicious and the goulash is great. I always go for the salt beef :-)

My boyfriend and I go here every Sunday and without a doubt the food is always the same standard! The service is fantastic! Whatever you order you can guarantee you will get a delicious plate in front of you. Wouldn’t have a single bad word to say about Mona Lisa.

So happy with my experiences shared in this place, we travel all the way from Essex and are never disappointed. It is such a delightful place to eat with a varied healthy menu.

I went back to this restaurant today as I was in the area. The sea bream was delicious and looked fantastic on the plate. In our party, Salad Nicoise and Beef goulash were also ordered, all very good and generous portions. The owner is very friendly, checks everything is OK and then just leaves you to it. Nice and relaxed. He's been running the restaurant for 17 years, so that speaks volumes in my book. Whilst we were eating, others were coming in for takeaway food. It's such a gem of a restaurant and far better than the others further up the road.

He estado en todo momento del día y tuvimos una comida muy buena pero el inusual especiales son mis favoritas. Última visita tuve panceta de cerdo con verduras al vapor, un poco grasos, que es como debería ser y delicioso. Para los que se cuidan mucho más y Josh, el propietario, incluso toman pedidos especiales si él puede obligar. La decoración es simple, pero el lugar está limpio y sillas cómodas. Mi esposa siempre goza de su comida vegetariana y la pequeña selección de bebidas es siempre aceptable.

La comida sigue siendo tan buena y el servicio es perfecto. ! Tuve una ensalada encantadora Nicoise. Fue tan bueno, no pude terminarlo todo, ya que había mucho de eso. Estábamos a tiro pasado, ya no de aquí. Qué hallazgo. La comida era deliciosa. Tuve terneros hígado. No es del gusto de todos, pero estaba delicioso con patatas y verduras. El anfitrión era muy amable. Bien merece una visita. Si vivimos aquí nos gustaría ser redonda asiduas.

Han renovado el interior de Mona Lisa - claramente que era hora de ponerse al día con las otras cafeterías y restaurantes de postín en la calle alta. El menú de configuración de 8 libras por 2 campos es de un gran valor. Paté de hígado de pollo casero con guarnición de ensalada deliciosa. Las tiras de pollo bien sazonada eran fabulosas y no puedo decir nada en contra de las patatas fritas o ensaladas que eran parte del plato! Estupenda comida honestamente razonable.

He estado yendo a la Mona Lisa de al menos diez años, con la familia, los amigos, y por mi cuenta. Es un lugar estupendo, con buena comida, un servicio amable y muy buen precio.

Food is awful.. ..cheapest ingredients used..ie nasty cheap tea and margarine instead of butter Staff are ignorant and rude.
