For years I struggled to take my daughter shopping. At the mention of shopping she would disappear into thin air, which can be difficult when you need to shop for school uniform or shoes. Then we found Cafè Gelato. Ta-da! At the mention of it, she transforms herself into the most enthusiastic shopper on Earth , providing we make a Gelato stop as part of the shopping experience. You might call it bribery, I call it magic. There is such a wide range of flavours, all either sourced locally or imported directly from the best regions in Italy (eg: Sicilian lemon), that you are truly spoilt for choice. The flavours are intense, the prices reasonable and if you fancy a coffee, Cafè Gelato is perfect for that too. Best dessert place for miles.

This is proper ice cream (well gelato). This is a must visit in Norwich if you want a real taste of Italy, or just want an ice cream. So many tasty flavours to choose from, authentic and traditional.

Caffe Gelato reminds me of my favourite ice cream in Rome. The pistachio was outstanding, as was the Norfolk strawberry.

The highlight of my granddaughters visit to Norfolk was a treat we had here. The gelato is dreamy, the flavours are too many to choose from but she had a refreshing Sicilian Lemon & sharp Raspberry cone. I had hazelnut and pistachio. A pure delight.

This place is well worth seeking out. The gelato is superb – as good as any we’ve ever had in Italy or Sicily. We’ll make sure we visit again the next time we’re in Norwich. Highly recommended.

Then quality has gone downhill. Honestly the milk/ingredients taste and smell spoilt. I felt so sick after eating here. Was vomiting non stop.

I used to frequent this store a lot and even recommended it to friends as well at work as well. However, the heavy set lady that works there is not only extremely rude.

This has been our go to since it opened and every time it has been exceptionally tasty, be prepared to queue as everyone wants a taste of Cafe Gelato. Ordered an oat Cappuccino with an icecrean in a cup / another in a cone. Couldn't make our minds up so went for both hot and cold. Amazing Cappuccino :) Top people. Grazie Mille 🍦☕️

Beautiful ice cream. So smooth and creamy. It's amongst the best ice cream I've ever had anywhere. Tried the orange and almond flavour which was fabulous. Wish I lived near Norwich so I could visit often and try more flavours.

Best gelato outside Italy! And a few inside. I have been to Italy on a few occasions now. And love to try the gelato's. Cafe Gelato has a wonderful array of flavours and great sorbets. It is run by an Italian family who really know there craft.

There is a bit of a queue at the entrance but it's worth it. An excellent artisanal ice cream. How to eat it in Italy, congratulations!

A queue outside tells you that this is something good. We spoke to a local in line who assured us we were in for a treat. I tried the pistachio which they particularly endorse based on their recipe and i can vouch - it was delicious. So creamy but so strong with the wonderful taste of pistachio. Paired with cheesecake ice cream. The vegan chocolate , mango and raspberry also really delicious if you are done with dairy like some in my group!

Wow best and most authentic Gelato I've ever had in this country. And some in Italy. This cafe is run by an Italian family and it shows. You can have several flavours in one pot or just go for one it is also served in cones. You can eat in or take away. We'll worth a visit if you are in the city.

You can see the wonderful Café Gelato in the start of the film starring Emma Thompson called "Good luck to you Leo Grande" and it's currently on NETFLIX!!! Sandro & Jenny..... You do a great job. You're both film stars!??? A regular visit for us. Probably, no, definitely the best ice cream in Norwich and really nice people. They do terrific coffee too. Try Afogato... I haven't seen an ingredients list. I'd be interested to see one...... Good toilet too🙂

The BEST gelato I ever had in England, proper Italian ice cream. I was going to take my daughter to Italy for her to try among other things a good ice cream, I’ll bring her here!!!!!

Although I love ice cream/gelato (and think of myself as a bit of an aficionado🙄😆) this was our first visit and we were not disappointed! Between the three of us we had cherry, chocolate and rhubarb. We all agreed that the rhubarb was the best, really ‘rhubarby’ and fresh/natural tasting, inspite of being very uniformly pink in colour and unnatural looking! We don’t mind a bit of colouring! The other flavours were very good too but rhubarb ice cream/gelato is not common and perhaps that’s why it was our favourite. I gather this is a family run shop with the gelato made in the kitchen at the back. There was a steady stream of customers which for a weekday early in April shows they are offered a quality product. A nice clean shop with 5 or 6 tables, some seating 2 and some 3. £2.90 for 1 scoop, £3.90 for 2. Highly recommended!

This is an extremely tasty ice cream shop, Best ice cream I’ve ever tasted in Norwich! The strawberry gelato was smooth and tasted so fresh, would be amazing to have during the summer months on a hot day. Friendly staff and was very busy when I went in but the service was really quick.

Literally the best gelato I've ever tasted! (or ice cream, yes I know not the same thing but it beats all the ice cream I've ever had too!) The Norfolk strawberry and the caramelised fig and mascapone are ridiculously tasty.

Came here recently for ice cream, while we still have the good weather! Service was fast, there are plenty of great choices for ice cream and some sorbet options as well. All looked and tasted great, so was worth the price. Very happy with experience overall. Would recommend!

You cannot fault the gelato, great choice of flavours and taste and everything gelato wise is perfect. The only reason for 4 and not five is the staff do not look happy to serve you, no smiles, all have faces like they are annoyed for you to be there. I think deep down they aren’t like that, but a smile goes a long way, especially when your paying £2.70 for one scoop of gelato.

Highly recommend this place, very busy with lots of people queuing. Lot of flavours to choose from and very authentic, high quality gelato. The flavours tasted natural, not artificial at all, and just like the fruit itself. Service was great, welcoming and despite the queues, we were served quickly. I should go back and try more flavours and their coffee as recommended by others.

Amazing gelatos! We come here very year when we’re on holiday. Flavours are amazing, all home made no additives. Can have on a cornet or in a tub, prices very reasonable, staff friendly and helpful. It’s a must visit if you’re in Norwich

Well, if you like ice cream then you need to taste the silky smooth flavours on offer at Cafe Gelato. Rich dark chocolate and powerful pistachio are great but a true winner for me is the caramelised fig and mascarpone. I need to go back to try the others for a fair comparison

Friendly staff. Clean place, well displayed. Husband had Madagascar vanilla and said it was very tasty. I had orange and almond which was delicious. I'm hard to please with ice cream and this was in my top two ever had!!

I come here every chance I get.  There's always a very welcoming and friendly atmosphere, regardless of whether it's just me in the café or there's a queue of 20+ people outside the door.  The gelato is second-to-none and available in individual servings (a cone or a tub, available with 1 to 4 scoops/flavours) to eat straight away or a "brick" to take home, which is available in 2 sizes.  There are so many flavours all made by the family that run this little gem, and I've yet to try one that I don't love.  From fruity sorbets (and a dark choc sorbet that is just 🤌🏻❤) to dessert-flavoured gelato (the tiramisu is a taste of heaven) and everything from the classic to the inventive, there really is something for everyone.  The flavours change throughout the year too, so you don't have a chance to get bored of having the same thing (not that you can!) - they do some delicious Holiday Season flavours that make for a nice, rich-yet-light alternative to Christmas Pudding.  The café also sells soft drinks, tea, hot chocolate and the best coffee in the city!  This isn't regular coffee, this is Italian coffee - it's smooth and has a rich flavour without any bitterness.  Being quite the coffee fiend, I've tried a lot of coffee shops, both independent and chain, and I make espresso at home.  The only place I have coffee without sugar is Café Gelato - you just don't need any.  To go with your coffee or other drink, the café often has a small selection of handmade cakes, biscuits and pastry treats such as cannolis that are also worth a try if they've not all been snapped up. The coffee isn't only better than elsewhere, it's competitively priced.  The gelato is ever-so-slightly more expensive than the café's competitors, but it's infinitely superior in every way and the servings are a decent size.  The café itself is immaculately clean.  And the family that runs this business are lovely people - they never rush you, they chat a little when they have time and they always have smiles on their faces.  As I said, I come here whenever I can, whether I'm with friends, family, on a date or just out for a wander by myself and fancy a treat.  Next time you're nearby I suggest you treat yourself too, and pop in for gelato and a Cappuccino Italiano!

Cafe Gelato is located at 6 Opie St, Norwich NR1 3DN. There are different ice cream that the tastes are really fantastic. You may actually have the same feeling of tasting real fruits. The favorite choices include Pistachio, Beach, Nutella, Hazelnut... etc. You will never forget the excellent tastes and wonderful experience. Highly recommend.

Quality ice cream , first tried their ice cream at my daughters wedding , she had a van and picked 6 flavours for guests to eat , I had a tub of all 6 flavours , since then I pop in and get a double cornet while waiting for the bus , gradually going through all flavours , haven't found one I don't like , and don't expect I will 🤷‍♂️ . Always good service and can get very busy 👍👍👍

Can't rate this place highly enough, absolutely incredibly icecream, I had white chocolate and vanilla ice cream and my partner had mango and peach scoops and they were all incredible, dont let the small pots on the counter fool you, there portions are more than generous more icecream was mounting outside the pot than inside!!! First time I went to this place today and I'm definitely going back, especially in this heat wave ❤️

The large queue outside spoke for itself! Exceptionally fast and efficient service. Really friendly and authentic. Absolutely loads of choice and reasonable prices. I had chocolate and biscof flavours and it was delicious. A few seats inside which was useful after a day walking around the city. Toilets inside were also clean and modern. Very happy and not a surprise that there was a long queue as it was certainly worth the short wait.

On my visit to Norwich I had ice-cream here. Dark chocolate sorbet, unusual but very delicious. Coffee is good too. I would definitely recommend this place.

the flavours were all really delicious. service was good and prices were not too expensive. we did have to queue for a few minutes, but the staff was really efficient.

Never been in here, that said the queues are long and it is very popular, the fun bit comes when they shut, the music is loud and they all sing and have fun. 3 stars is due to Never tasting their Geleto as I park outside to pick up my wife from work. Had such a lovely day thought to try the Gelato, unable to comment on the tiramasu as they sold out, the cherry 🍒 was a true delight! Wife had the salted caramel and gave it a thumbs up !

If you are looking for proper Italian gelato this is the place to go! They make their own ice cream and use only the best ingredients. They even sell big tubs like in Italy too, you can choose 3 or 4 different flavours depending on how much you want to spend, I find it's totally worth it. Small place, and usually very busy especially during the warmer months. Totally worth the wait though 😋

Been coming here for years, one of the best places in the city if you ask me. All of the flavours are absolutely incredible. My personal favourites are strawberry sorbet, Nutella and tiramisu. All of the staff are so fantastic and welcoming. There is some seating but I recommend taking your treats up to the castle to enjoy. Recently moved away from Norwich but I have no doubts this amazing spot will remain unmatched. I will 10000% be visiting every time I’m in town 😍❤️

It was interesting to discover that beside the incredible gelato they also make coffee, hot chocolate and tea! The herbal tea I got was very good and they had different types I need to try. Never seen this brand at any supermarket! Unlike other cafes...
