Lord's Restaurant in Norwich

Not sure why this restaurant has good reviews. Starters were good but it was just prawns. No one enjoyed the main courses. My main was inedible, it was octopus and it was so tough, you couldn’t chew or swallow it. Sent it back but it was the same the second time. So I had no main course and ate what my partner left. The seafood in his was very over cooked, I would think it had been reheated. They seemed to have people in reviewing the food. There were a few tables they were making a fuss over and we were neglected and service was slow. The only redeeming thing, was the cocktails were good but food and service were bad.

I came here as part of a large group on New Year’s Eve. The lad who took care of us, Ewan, (apologies if I’ve misspelled that) really brought his A-game. He clearly knew his menu and his wines and was very helpful with recommendations. His banter was on point as well. Food was beautiful, I had sea bream which was meaty and full of flavour. My friends were a bit more adventurous with octopus and other seafood which they all seemed to enjoy very much. The menu also had options to cater for those of us that aren’t quite so keen on seafood although my top choice, which was beef ragu, was out of stock at the time. Otherwise, great food, great service, great time and would happily come back again in the future!

Cannot recommend, food was poor, will definitely not be back. Such a shame as we were looking forward to it based on previous reviews. Has great potential but needs to massively up their game to achieve it.

First time visit and was very disappointed. 3 of us had the scallops, they were very over cooked, tough and dry. My wife’s calamari starter didn’t actually arrive, likely due to the front of house dealing with another very unhappy customer. When we did get his attention we asked that the kitchen didn’t bother sending my wife’s starter out. We then had the seafood linguini and the tuna pizza. All the pasta dishes were served in stone cold bowls with uncooked mussels. I managed to open one of mine and it definitely wasn’t edible. There was no sign of crab in any of the dishes nor any clams or sea bass in mine. The pasta was actually well cooked unfortunately the seafood that was in it wasn’t great although to be fair the prawns were good. The tuna pizza was ok, thin base and had plenty of topping. The wine was also good. We did ask to speak to the chef as the food was that poor but was told he doesn’t speak English. For an establishment that advertises itself as a seafood restaurant the chef needs to seriously up their game. Perhaps they had a very bad off night but to send out mussels and clams that aren’t open on a plate is not acceptable. The waiter was very apologetic about the standard of the food and did reflect it in the bill that we paid.

After all the good reviews we tried it what a shock terrible night felt sorry for the guy serving us . Not going back.

Delicious food with top notch service. Early days so not overly busy but this place is a real gem and should be fully booked every night! Get yourself along to this place, I can’t recommend it enough.

Really amazing food, beautiful presentation quick and really nice service ! Enjoyed every single part of the meal , starters, mains, dessert and the cocktails were splendid!

Decided to give Lords a try as Norwich is short of a decent fish restaurant other than Jarrolds, which is not open in the evenings. Front of house staff were amazing, very friendly. I understand that from Monday 16th October the menu will be changing hopefully with a few new additions. The Breem we had was absolutely delicious and well cooked, unfortunately the vegetable offering was OK but quite cold. Some sourdough with oil and balsamic would have been a nice touch with our drinks. Will definitely give this place another try. Hopefully it will become the go to seafood restaurant in Norwich.

The food was very lovely. I am not a huge fan of seafood. I came here for a friend. I left loving seafood. It was so well cooked. Lovely and fresh. Very different from any seafood I had had before It's a shame that this place isn't advertised more. It was quiet It has such beautiful decor It was reasonably priced as well I would happily return

Visited with friends on a Saturday evening. The first thing to say is that the front of house staff are really good. Very friendly. Quite quiet for a Saturday evening. Despite this service was very very slow. It was an hour before the starters arrived from time of ordering. And about that again for main course. Food was ok but elements were cold and had obviously been standing around for some time. Menu quite restricted and unclear. Prices full on both for food and drinks. Needs a lot of improvement if this place is going to survive.

Food was absolutely delicious, the oysters were the best we’ve ever had. Unfortunately, the wait was atrociously long, we waited 25 minutes for staters, then after plates were collected another 30 minutes for mains even though it wasn’t very busy. We ordered chips with our dinner and side of salad but received veg instead. The chips come after we finished all of our food. The waiter bless him couldn’t recommend much as said he hasn’t eaten too many dishes there. The seafood platters aren’t very large or offer a big variety to fill but It was a really enjoyable experience and will definitely be back, but hope the timescales and service improve with time.

Wow! Absolutely fantastic meal here last night. The food is phenomenal. I had prawns as a starter which were cooked perfectly and my partner has octopus which was also cooked to perfection and the flavour of the little fresh peppercorns worked so well with it. For mains we had sea bream and linguini with mixed seafood. They made a slight mistake with the order but it was rectified quickly and the food again was fantastic. The fish all cooked perfectly, the pasta al dente and the sauce was out of this world. The only suggestion I have is that they serve some tools with the crab as it was the best crab I have ever tasted but I struggled to get it out of the shell without the correct tools! We will definitely be returning, really excellent meal. Service was friendly and they went out of their way to please.

Amazing new restaurant in Norwich filling a gap so desperately needed for a great seafood spot

We visited this restaurant at the weekend as it was newly opened Staff wear very welcoming and the restaurant had a nice atmosphere The food we had a prawn starter prawns wear lovely and fresh and very tasty For main we had salmon and a seafood platter with sea bass all fish and prawns west lovely and fresh presentation on the plater could do with some work also what’s on it for £60 I think the menu could do with expanding as there wear limited options no lobsters, local crab or mussels on the menu I hope this is seen as constructive criticism as we did have a lovely evening

An absolute (hidden) gem if you love seafood! This place took my oyster virginity and I don’t want it back! It’s an intimate little restaurant offering a variety of fresh seafood dishes, including octopus, whole sea bass and a variety of other delicious treats, I’ve not yet tried 😍 The cocktails are expertly mixed- we requested mojitos. They don’t serve mojitos. We got mojitos 🥹 so yeah, service is top notch too!

Everything we ordered was delicious: three appetizers, octopus, salmon, and scallops; salad; chips, and tiramisu and pane cotta for dessert, with a couple of tasty Italian beers to accompany our meal. The serving staff were absolutely charming and the atmosphere of the little restaurant is very nice. The music, acoustic versions of classic and recent hits, augmented the experience nicely. But again, THE FOOD was so fresh, flavorful, and beautifully-presented, we were delighted. What a find! Generous portions of great value because everything on every plate, even the garnishes, was delicious. Highly recommended!

I am very upset. It was father's Day yesterday and I had a table reservation at Lord's restaurant, which I booked way in advance. I had even given them my number if there was any problems or changes like for instance the restaurant being closed for maintenance!! This would have been nice to have known rather than walking up to the restaurant all ready for a lovely meal with my parents just to find it shut. Please can you explain why I wasn't contacted about the closure, as I had to completely change my plans and ended up spending alot more then expected due to it being last minute on fathers day. I look forward to your response

We had a lovely meal here before we went to the theatre. Norwich has been lacking a good fish restaurant for a long time (the one is Jarrolds is fantastic but isn't open in the evenings). We had Sicilian prawns to start with, followed by a mixture of the sea bass and sea bream. All cooked and presented beautifully. The fish wasn't dry, was very tasty and the portion sizes were ample. The desserts almost looked too pretty to eat! We had a great time here and will certainly be back. Waiting staff were attentive but not intrusive. I really try to support independent restaurants and hope this one is a success.

Very nice restaurant and delicious food!!

Visited last night the food was delicious and tasty. A good portion of prawns for starter and then sea bass, chips are home made and then the panacotta best I’ve ever had. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. Very good friendly service.

We thought we would give a new restaurant a look but unfortunately left very disappointed. Staff were very lovely but unfortunately the food was very poor. Our friends had the steak which was escalopes with a sauce which was far from mushroom and tasted awful. My fiancée had fruit de mare pasta, mussels good linguini very chewy. Waited a very long time considering there was only 2 other tables. Prosecco and other drinks very over priced. Such a shame would not recommend sorry.P

The decor is bright and fresh, the welcome is really friendly. The food is superb. It's tasty and very good value for money. I whole heartedly recommend this restaurant.

I was there today for dinner I had fillet salmon it was amazing highly recommended, staff are super friendly and can’t do enough for you! 10/10!
