Cafe Fresco in Bridgend

Had a lovely breakfast here this morning. Staff are really friendly. Food was plentiful and really good value. Coffee could’ve done with being a bit hotter but generally a nice place.

We started to queue behind a single lady who seemed to be waiting by the ice cream serving hatch and not getting anywhere so she eventually turned on her heel and left. We were next up and waited …..and waited …..and waited! There appeared to be two staff behind the counter, but they were not particularly busy. One lady staff member definitely saw us and yet carried on chatting to the (clearly local) customer in front of her for what seemed like an eternity (They were talking about all sorts of things like school holidays and more), completely ignoring me and my partner. Ho hum!! After an hours driving I was ready to kill an ice cream!! I think what’s happened here is they’ve got used to the fact that Porthcawl is a massively tourist based town and for everyone they lose it doesn’t matter because there will be 10 more to replace us! No one seemed remotely bothered about even acknowledging us - so we too went elsewhere (in fact around the corner to Fablus which had amazing ice cream and VERY friendly attentive service and smiley staff! I only wish we’d gone there first and wasted less time! Love the town and craggy beaches highly recommend

Called here for coffee in the week. We ate outside, and I have to say the service was awful as it took 20 minutes to serve 2 coffees. I do not like giving bad reviews, but the area round us was full of cigarette ends, plus the ashtrays were half full. The area around had empty sugar/sweetener paper sachets blowing everywhere. The waitress saw it, but I presume she was more preoccupied with preening herself. Why cant staff have more pride in service and cleanliness??

Food here is always amazing and the staff are so lovely, went today and had such a short wait for very good food!

I work near this cafe and ate here regularly before work, until Saturday when me and my sister got the wrong drinks so we rang back apologised for there mistake explained my sister is lactose intolerant and asked for our Drinks or a refund to then get spoken down to by a young man and a delivery driver by the name of Zoe. We then messaged the company on Facebook and they read our messages and never replied. So shocked and upset will never be eating here again

Popped in on the Saturday friendly staff and a spotless clean place . We both had the large breakfast which was good value and all fresh and hot . They do a good choice of meals and some homemade . Well worth a visit .

Returned again. Same excellent service. Same value for money. Same freshly cooked quality food. We (and our greyhound) are going to be regulars for sure.

Was previously Sidolis until earlier this summer when changed hands. Soon after first opening we visited hoping to buy our favourite ham salad roll but these were not available, the display cabinet was almost empty and no-one was very helpful in telling us what was actually available . We left not buying anything. Later in the summer we thought we would try again and went in at 12.30 lunchtime. At 1.15 we were served our sandwiches and at 1.25 our drinks. There were 2 extremely overworked young assistants who through no fault of their own were unable to cope with the demand having no support from the management which appeared to be absent from the premises. Just as we were leaving the apparent lady manager came in and we were able to tell her what we thought about the service.We were not the only ones who made our feelings felt. We now go to Pietros on the seafront.

Excellent value for money, Great food and varied but popular options from old Brisitsh favourites e.g. Cottage Pie, Lamb chops, ham egg and chips and all day breakfasts (which looked great) to Lasagne, Mixed Grill, Curry, Burgers and Lamb & Chicken Shish as well as Jacket Potatoes, sandwiches and cakes to die for. The coffee was great too. At £23.00 for 3 x main meals with bottled drinks/coffee this cafe would be hard to beat and being pet friendly (for us) was the icing on the cake. The meals were large too (even beat me which is unusual!) and because my husband had not touched the additional mash potato which accompanied his Cottage Pie the chef made a point of asking whether there was anything wrong with it (which there wasn't it was purely just too much food for him) but brownie points for the customer service as well. This cafe deserves to do well and we are sure it will.
