Raj Balti in Bridgend

Recently ordered a chicken biryani. The rice was dry, didn't appear to be cooked properly and there was hardly any chicken. And the stuffed paratha was not up to standard.

Avoid at all costs. Extremely poor. Poppadoms burnt, prawn madras like hot soup. Prawn puree could not be eaten due to salt saturation. I do not enjoy negative reviews, can put up with poor food without complaint, however, credit where credit is not due is beyond me. Will never order from here again. P.S. late delivery also.

Never had a bad meal and delivery usually on time.

Food really not good, three dishes tasted the same, very greasy and chicken very dry left overs from the previous night I think. Also very expensive for what it was. Used to be good but won’t be ordering again.

Three times in 6 weeks we’ve had a delivery and it’s been so good Biryani and pathia are delicious Would thoroughly recommend 😎😎

Warning this place is closed. They left there JustEat tablet on and we ordered £80 worth of food for delivery at 1730 and after 2.5 hours we went down and found the place closed and looks like its been gutted out. WARNING they are not open!!!!

I've ordered food from Raj Balti for years and I've always loved their food I'm not sure if theres a new chef but tonight our food was awful, my husbands food was burnt I ordered chilli garlic chicken, I've ordered this food over and over and always enjoyed it but tonight it was so hot that I couldn't eat it, it was like eating pure chilli there was no taste of garlic it was just super hot, such a shame

Normally the food is very tasty with excellent portion sizes

Very very disappointing. I should have read the reviews before ordering... Where do I start?? Chutney tray, onion seen better days with lettuce going brown and a dry lemon. Snack box starter: soggy samosa cold in middle both veg and meat, bhaji black burnt on one side, how does this happen? Chicken madras, spicy as I like but lacks flavour, Keema rice: saw no mincemeat or tasted any. Poppadoms were fresh at least, arrived luke warm. A waste of £24. I doubt that the owners check the reviews, but if you do, can you please comment

Always order from here never normaly an issue had an issue this time with the food quality. Phoned to explain the issue problem was implied i had put the item there... was told he would come out with fresh and to deal with the issue. Deliver driver turns up with zero knowledge or care, and very unhelpful full order wasn't resent. All went in the bin won't order ever again. Work on your customer service..

Just had my food delivered. Tandoori mixed grill and the rajbalti box. My food was very very good. Order straight for Raj Balti and not other food apps. The price was very good too. Plus my food got to me very fast and was hot. Thank you Raj Balti.

Ordered through exotic shad were food has always been great, raj has now taken them over without telling people. Went to picked up takeaway thinking from exotic shad to make a phone call and find out its raj very strange Food was disgusting coconut sweet rice should of been special fried rice, chicken bhuna sour, onion bhajee soft worst Indian food I've had

Second takeaway from here. After a bad experience about 12 months ago where they took about 1.5 hrs to deliver the food I thought I'd give them another chance. Wish I hadn't bothered this time. Chips were reheated. Poppadoms dry like supermarket poppadoms. I ordered a prawn Karhai which I have had in many Indian restaurants and its normally rich, full of peppers and onion. This had hard undercooked chunks of onion and microscopic prawns and thats it. Tasted a bit like a jar of curry sauce mixed with a jar of sweet and sour sauce. I would not recommend ordering food from here and I certainly wouldn't try it again.

Absolutely disgusting food. We ordered 3 different dishes and they all tasted the same and had so much sugar in! My mum is diabetic and she wasn’t even able to eat it. We paid over £40 and were also told that we’d get free popadoms and we didn’t. We ordered a chicken tikka masala and it was dark red! Full of sugar. The vegetable dish was the sweetest and had raw vegetables. I can’t stress enough how sweet it was. Worse than a can of full fat coke. Absolutely disgusting.

Really enjoyed our takeaway. Curries were nice, decent breads, loved the vegetable samosas and Saag Paneer. Bhaji were very poor and wouldn't order them again. Excellent value for money, especially with 20% off on Tuesday via the app.

Advertising on Uber as a different business very rude after phoning to explain they have delivered a bag full of fat and mush substance £50 order that they can’t do anything about apparently will be reporting to bcbc to revoke their poor 3 rating to a 0 that they deserve as you can see from my reviews I have never done this before so it’s a very genuine review disgusting

Very rough and disgusting 🤢 behaviour so rude on the phone and thought it was fine to serv us so called food that was not fit for a dog !!!! A sorry and a refund would not of come to a 0 star review also reported to our local council

Don't usually do a mild curry but the korma and tikka were stunning. The rice was good too.

Just had a take away from here as has always been our go to for Indian food. I don't know if it's changed owners or chef but it wasn't up to the usual standard. Curry was nice but the pakora was mostly dense batter, very little chicken. The onion Baji was very dry and powdery and everything was a lot blander than usual. Worst thing was a piece of plastic packaging/ bag mixed up in the lime pickle 🤮. Won't let me add a picture for some reason . Unfortunately was out last order from here.

I don’t know if it has changed hands, chef or suppliers, but it’s gone down hill rapidly. Tonight my chicken pakora was inedible, the bahjee’s were burnt, popadoms soggy and stale, chicken tikka dry. Very dissatisfied

The food was tasty but unfortunately it was a big let down to myself and my family. We were all excited for a lovely meal and then it turned up. Now I’m not a smoking man, but if I were, I could have used the ‘poppadums’ as a skin and rolled a cigarette with it. They were terrible. Portion size was dreadful, the half and half was suitable for a young child, who had just eaten a McDonald’s 20 minutes before. But luckily the curry was very tasty, as it normally is. Very let down with our order tonight, maybe it’s time to try a new Indian, which is a grave shame

I ordered a take-away from Raj Balti, the online ordering experience was extremely easy. Unfortunately 20mins later I realised I placed the order in the wrong location, after phoning Raj Balti to explain I made a mistake I was offered a full refund. Thank you for being so understanding and honest.

Well what’s the point in spending money on food for you to be given bad ingredients, all night my stomache has hurt, had diarrhoea then sick multiple times, sort this out guys I’m usually a big fan of your food!

Great Indian takeaway. The staff were very accommodating especially when I was really hungry I asked if I could eat on their table, and they were more than happy to provide that.

It was my first time I ordered foods from raj bati. I ordered mixed starters including onion baji ,samosa etc.it was really tasty and it came with a mint chutney . Also, I ordered their special biriyani which I really enjoyed. They took 1 hour to deliver the food but worth my waiting .I do recommend this.

Arrived hot. Tonight but tandoor was so over cooked could not eat it. Vindaloo was like tomato sauce.

We ordered a take away and I thought a Tikka masala would be a safe bet orange red in colour and char grilled meat in a familiar sauce . How wrong was I ! Bright red watery with chilli and coconut ? I have no idea why it was so bad and no idea what it was supposed to be but we had 3 tubs of the goop! After waiting over a hour I ate the chicken and left the red slop …whatever it was ? Definitely one to avoid . If you can’t cook a tikka massala sauce you should stop now . About as authentic as a Tesco jar curry but not even that good. Our order was for a family occasion 8 meals ordered with extras . Very disappointed . What the heck , Abysmal food ! Over £70 worth of food that Was very odd and not at all “authentic” . I invite the owner or anyone to tell me that’s a Tikka Massala?? See image .

The food which provides by Raj Balti is quite tasteful and they give delivery on time. I would reckon all of you to take food from Raj Balti.

The food tasted like cheap products were used, the food tasted microwaved half warm and half freezing cold. Worst Indian food I have ever eaten. Will no be ordering from here again. Avoid Avoid! Ordered £25 of food thinking id have the chips and a mini taster of other dishes and save the rest for me and my partner tomorrow…. Tbh if you cant cook chips youre in trouble, and if theres no seasoning (salt) in two of the dishes and the lamb is only chewable if youre canine and/or starred in The Lost Boys…. Not one to review food, good or bad, everyone deserves a second chance but sometimes online reviews need evening up… when the best bit of the order is the side salad you didnt order, its time to feed the bin, and im very sad to admit to that

First time take away delivery and it didn't disappoint! Chicken madras and Chicken dhansak lots of flavour,hot&spicy! Lots of it, will definitely go back! Thank you for a great meal!

We have recently moved to Bridgend and decided to try Raj Balti for a meal. It arrived on time minus my garlic naan. Pilau rice was plain rice and the balti was over hot spiced. The cinnamon chicken was too sweet. The lnaan arrived cold and soggy. Not going there again it was awful.

Always used raj balti never bad a meal, small issues sometimes. But, today... Chicken tikka Biryani had no taste of what a Biryani should be. No nice fried onions, rosewater or ghee and cicken rubbery. Vegetable balti was too hot (spicy) for a balti and just small diced veg with big chunks of raw onion ( same sauce for the biyani without the onions) Keema naan was soggy. Not a great meal.

Ordered the food at 7.30pm, told it would be there at 8.30. I phone at 8.40 and ask where it is, then told it would be 9.15 latest but that ‘they are super busy so happy to cancel the order if I need to’. Food finally arrived at 9.30pm, 2 hours later. Offered £5 off after I prompted for a discount and the food did at least arrive hot, but I definitely won’t be coming back again.

First time ordering from this establishment and I am very disappointed. Firstly, the food was cold, poppadoms all broken and in little pieces, was missing parts of the chutney tray and finally, the chips were way too spicy. Would not be recommending or ordering from here again. I’m not looking for a refund, discount or anything, just giving feedback that really does need to be taken on. On a positive note the butter chicken and pilau rice were actually okay ✌

Ordered first time a few weeks ago, and got sent the completely wrong order after the delivery driver phoned to say he had to return to the restaurant to change it. Gave them benefit of the doubt and ordered from there again tonight, omg why did I bother, yet again the wrong order was delivered... buttered chicken that was spicy than a vindaloo and a madras that tasted like fruit... I can only assume the order was wrong or they need to get rid of the chef... will definitely not order from there again... waste of money....

Just ordered the Chicken Tikka Biryani through Just Eat. We were told it would take 45 mins for delivery but it came after 20 mins which was an awesome surprise. The portions were a great size and it was delicious. The peshwari naan was the nicest we've ever had - packed with flavour and not greasy like with some other takeaways. Will definitely order from here again, highly recommend! 2 very happy customers

Just had a meal delivered from these. We were very disappointed with our meal the sauce was very watery and tasteless. Not happy at all. Will not recommend this restaurant to anyone who who loves a good curry.

It's average food with average service

really poor food that used to be a good place for a takeaway. the chicken was rock hard and i couldnt cut it. no expert but it must have been recooked a few times. Bland flavours too for a dhansak curry. will not be going back and will not be recommending to anyone.

Use the restaurant regularly for a takeaway and decided to ask for a recommendation and had a fantastic meal.. highly recommend and always fast delivery time.

Just home from a 3O hour day with 2 long flights and 1 long drive and really looking forward to finishing off the holiday.Never in a million years would I touch this place again. Ordered on line and told a 75 minute wait which we can accept. 2 phone calls and a wait of 2 hours in the end our food was still not here. The very young boy on the phone refuses for us to speak to anyone but him and told us our food had been with the driver for 40 minutes and thought that was acceptable. When we explained that the food would be cold by that time and wouldn’t want it we were told that the chicken would be “reused”. Absolutely shocking service, disgraceful customer care, no food standards or health and safety taken into account for their consumers plus the manager refused to speak to us so I would encourage everyone to think very carefully about eating in this place.

Madras sauce was like water. Egg fried rice was full of coconut. Chicken was big hard and tasteless chunks. Keema nan had no meat in it at all was just stained red on the inside. On the plus side it arrived promptly but in an almost worrying timeframe. Never again will i order anything from here. Awful food

Best indian by far, the very best staff and the food is amazing, wouldn't go anywhere else, would highly recommend.

We ordered a takeaway tonight, for my husband, our two sons and I. It came bang on time and was hot enough. The tikka masala sauce was delicious, the tikka starter was nice and the green sauce was just spicy enough. The rice was lovely and had a kick to it. The bhajis were crispy and weren't floury like in some places. My husbands dopiaza was good too.. My only criticism is that they forgot my salad to accompany my tikka starter.

We have ordered meals several times from this local Indian in Bridgend when visiting friends in the area, which have always been fantastic and arrives in a timely manner. We first ordered the Rugby 6 Nations Platter back in Feb for 5 of us and at £50 the amount of food that came with the platter was enough for double the size of our group. The food is always flavorsome which you can tell has been made from authentic spices with generous portions and decent value for money. It is very rare that a local Indian takeaway was able to cater for everyone, as one of the friends in our group is Coelic and another a Vegan and the helpful members at Raj Balti was able to suggest menu options for them as well as creating dishes without cross contamination.If you want a top quality, authentic curry which is made from fresh spices I would recommend Raj Balti every time.

Ordered through Just Eat, website said food would be delivered at 20:30, it was with us only 25 minutes after ordering, made us feel that it was just waiting to be boxed up and not like it was freshly cooked. Food was ok, not piping hot. Sauces tasted nice and what little meat was in it was nicely cooked but just warm on arrival. Saag paneer was disappointing, lots of sauce and a few chunks of paneer. Onion bhajis were oily and tasteless. Peshwari naan was the best bit of the meal. Nothing wrong as such but wouldn't recommend to someone as a great place for a takeaway.

Really great food, very reasonable prices and large portions! Delivery time was within the time quoted over the phone and service was very impressive as staff are polite and we'll mannered. Staff were also very attentive to detail as I asked for a few alterations to my order all of which were met with exceedingly great care! Will be frequenting this resteraunt more often in the near future.

As mentioned above, this has been a staunch favourite when visiting the area before but there seems to have been a massive drop in quality since the last visit. Food still OK but portions have increased in favour of quality lowering across the board.

Was told to expect an hour wait for delivery. No food after 2 hours 20 mins.....cancelled the order, ate some toast. Toast was good, if you're thinking of ordering I would suggest considering toast.

Ordered food and was advised 90 mins wait which wasn’t a problem... 3 hours later no sign of food and when ringing the restaurant no answer at all ...... left a family without food which they wanted and no apology at all , will never ever use again and will discourage any friends or family from useing this takeaway which is a great shame

Placed home delivery order at 6pm, told 45 minutes to an hour, which was fine, however, after an hour and a half I phoned to inquire where my order was, was told he'd get hold of driver and call me back, had call back to tell me it would be another 20 minutes.... 25 minutes later the food arrived STONE COLD, obviously I refused the order and immediately got on the phone to complain. I would of accepted the food (after waiting 2 hours) had it been hot, very disappointed with the service and with plenty of other takeaways to choose from they are not doing themselves any favours by telling me they'll do a fresh order straight away with a £10 discount for the inconvenience.
