Cafe East Oldham in Oldham

I went to Cafe East last week. There was a group of 6 of us and I have to say all 6 of us were very impressed! The service was exceptional. The waiters constantly made sure that we were okay and checked to see if we needed anything at all throughout our time there. The food and drinks were great. Personal favourites of mine were the Masala Chips and the Samosa Chaat. Delicious. To top our great experience there, the owner had come to us at the end and we had a lovely chat over some complimentary festive chocolates. Overall, we cannot fault our experience there. Will definitely be visiting again. :)

Had a fantastic time today and managed to take advantage of the free 3 course meal as part of the birthday month offer that they have going on. The owner was even kind enough to put the extra drink and side that I had ordered on the house. On top of that the food was superb and the staff were fantastic! Will definitely be coming back and this place will sure to be a family favourite!

The food and service were pretty good in this restaurant. But my lord the pricing for the food and drinks are atrocious. I got the Lahori Parmasen, which was good, but the price for it was £16.95. It wasn't even big enough. It was literally just a regular chicken fillet. If you had that as a burger at a random takeaway, it'd probably be like around 6 quid. The food also took so long to be given out. I was with my family, so yeah, we obviously had to wait a while for our food, but my god it took so long for us to even get our food. We arrive there at half 4 in the afternoon and ordered our food a few minutes later. It took 2 and a half hours for all of our food to come. That's just absurd. Never coming here again. Absolutely not worth the money.

me and my family arrived at half 4 and ordered our drinks and starters. as we were waiting for them we ordered our mains. the drinks and starters came quite quick and we all thought our mains would take a similar amount of time. it took around 3 hours for our mains to come. very disappointed. the waiter was nice and dealt with the situation well. we won’t be coming back again

My family and I were the first people there, we had booked the table in advance for a big party so it's not as if they didn't know a big group of people were coming. We got there on time at half 4. Drinks were nice and so were starters however they did take a bit of time to come out. The main issue were the mains. They took over 2 and a half hours to arrive and when they did the food was freezing and not appetising! You would think for the price of the food you would get a normal amount but you don't, portion sizes are way too small and you definitely do NOT get your moneys worth. Waiter was lovely but unfortunately service was extremely slow which is even more concerning since there were only 2 or 3 more people that arrived after we did so it was not busy. When we asked to speak to the manager we were told he wasn't in and then we asked to speak to the cheff and we were told he wouldn't come out as he was "too busy". Save your money for somewhere else. Won't be coming here again!

Disappointed with this place. Had a lovely starter and drink, then took 2.5 hours to get our main meals. Portion sizes were also v small, cold food, slow service. No thanks.

Waited 3+ hours for food to arrive and half an hour for drinks. If you want to wait 3+ hours for tiny portions of mediocre food then come here. We were also the first one there and was the last to serve. And not many staff. Had to order take away because no one was full

If you enjoy waiting 2.5+ hours for your main meal to arrive and paying £16.95 for a portion of food fit for an infant, then by all means do try. Lovely waiter, but service was extremely slow and it seemed as though there were only 2 members of staff running the entire restaurant (1 front of house, 1 back of house) whilst there were 20+ customers seated.

The timeing took to long (3 hours) Only for starters ,when my steak had come , the peppercorn sauce looked unpleasant and I asked for medium steak instead they gave me well- done steak.

The worst experience ever! We came as a large group expecting to be served soon. Starters came through fine with the drinks. 2 hours later we were still waiting for the mains! Extremely disappointed. The quality of the mains definitely didn't speak the price. Cold veggies and refried old chips! Came home to have to buy a takeaway too! What a waste of time. There was no manager around and the chef was "too busy" to speak to us! Lovely waiter but it's a shame he's the one who has to deal with all of the difficulties.

Food was alittle over priced however Service was brilliant, the waiter really went out of his way. The mocktails are so tasty and look amazing. The ambience and decor is probs the best in Oldham. The biryani was somthing else, fresh and tasty.

Unfortunately a poor experience with takeout. We ordered ‘jumbo chops’ and were met with 3 ridiculously tiny and THIN chops. Huge misrepresentation considering what they were described as. Genuinely very disappointing and a huge let down. The Lamb rogan Josh was unfortunately more peppers and onions in sauce as opposed to any meat. Fell extremely short of standards and expectations and for the price we expected a lot better. Won’t be returning.

Our new go to Indian. Everything we ordered was cooked perfectly and delivered still hot. Will definitely be ordering from here again!

Excellent customer service, delicious food and desserts, and beautiful atmosphere. We went for my sons Birthday meal, and he thoroughly enjoyed it and also got to meet Mithu (Shahzada Ghaffar). Thank you to all the staff for singing Happy Birthday to him. He was full of smiles all the way home. We will definitely be back. (Congratulations Kamran and family).

Such a lovey hidden gem in Oldham. Food was lovely, well worth the visit & the owner was so friendly. Would definitely recommend and visit again

Hi so I went here for my birthday meal. It was quite firstly and then got very busy, every seat was taken up. Firstly we ordered a mix starter and popdoms with chips two mocktails Followed by mains which were lamb and spinach with chicken biryani and naan. Our waiter was absolutely amazing so kind, helpful made us feel so welcome. Now the food - Popdoms where yummy Mix starter- was tasty full off flavour. Chips - good Mocktails- 10/10 Biryani - was presented nicely but was bland and flavourless Lamb and spinach- had to be sent back because it was bland and tasted horrible. Second time it arrived it tasted ok, if you ate just the lamb with the naan. I nearly felt sick after eating the biryani mixed with the spinach lamb. It had a horrible flavour Naan-nice fluffy yummy. My friend started having bad cramps, and was feeling bit nauseous over the food. So we left. We didn't even eat much, the mains where bad. The staff where amazing and lovely. Very respectful, kind and considerate 100/100 for them. Atmosphere - beautiful deco, clean, stunning place. Great location situated - Oldham Town center. Total cost £55 -

Friendly staff. Food was OK but not special. Quite a posh/smart feel but a bit sterile. No atmosphere. We were the only customers there on a Saturday evening.

A nice and quite place for a family meal. Food was nice but I think the biryani needs more spice (personal choice). I will definitely visit again and would recommend it for an authentic Asian cuisine and experience.

I took 8 volunteers plus a colleague to Cafe East last week and although I was dubious about “Punjabi cuisine”, I ordered a lamb curry dish with naan and was very impressed. I cleaned the plate until it looked like it it had been washed. All the people with me were very impressed by their choices

Great service and nice to eat inside with family. Food was alright we got steak, pasta and a curry between us. Service was brilliant 👍🏼

The service here was awful. The manager in the blazer was extremely rude and walked off while I was explaining what was wrong with our food. I have never ever seen a cheese nan made with burger cheese and the lamb chops are definitely not jumbo, they weren’t even normal size. But even the size of the chops wouldn’t have been as bad if they didn’t look already chewed on. But what made it worse was when we tried to give them back the manager explained that’s how they serve them. The curries weren’t bad but honestly the way the manager handle it put us off from ever coming back.

Been 3 times now and I've really enjoyed the food every time. Really enjoyed the mocktails but was disappointed to find out the bartender wasn't in last time to make them. Can be a little slow when busy but the staff are very attentive. Prices are very reasonable. A very wide range of food with spice levels tailored to everyone. I would highly recommend the Chicken Kakrvi to start which was like a parmesan with delicious veggies and perfectly cooked roast potatoes. For mains the biryani and the nihari were spectacular. Try the magaz if you're feeling adventurous but it's an acquired taste. Would love to try the desserts one day but the portion sizes for the previous courses are so big I don't make it that far.

The food is amazing but the rainbow cake doesn’t have any flavour at all I wouldn’t orderd that again! Other than that I would rate it 8/10.

Last minute decision to come here. Ordered the mixed grill starter took about 15/20mins. Came fresh and was delicious and actually flavoursome. For the main we got chicken steak, sirloin steak, chicken biryani and chicken karahi. The biryani was one of the best we've had and the chicken karahi was very nice and flavoursome. The steaks are good but would recommend the biryani and currys more. The server was super friendly and chatty aswell. Give them a try!

Stale popadoms, frozen veg curry I couldn’t eat full of sugar! Not as good as the first order. I won’t order again! Lazy cheffing.

I placed an uber eats order from this place. The kebabs were undercooked. The curry I ordered was Haleem. What arrived did not look like Haleem. It was brown.Ptoper Haleem is yellow not brown. Taste was mediocre. I ordered pilau rice but what they sent was something that looked like yellow rice. It was expensive but below substandard. This was my first order and will never order or eat at this restaurant ever again. It was a disappointment.

I could make a better curry myself, wouldn't come back. Prices were cheap £90 for 4 but the lack of quality showed why it's cheaper. Drinks were the best part and one person didn't like their drink so...

1st class restaurant with a welcoming atmosphere. We were a group of 7 adults and 4 children. We made our booking a couple of weeks ago to celebrate a family birthday and did not realise it was Ramadan until we arrived this evening. Upon arrival we were made extremely welcome, the food was divine and the staff so helpful and courteous. We can not wait to visit again. Thank you. 😊

My 2nd time here. 1st visit was a birthday party and the food was pretty decent. Today we went for iftari (break of fast) they had the buffet menu which was advertised as 50+ dish's. However the 50+ dishes weren't there. Each part of the salad was classed as a dish. So for example cucumber was 1 dish tomatoes was another dish...lol Anyways the starters were probably the highlight of the night. The mains weren't the best. The service was on point and the atmosphere was nice and calm.

MashaAllah excellent food and service. Went for the Ramadan buffet, could not fault anything. Food was delicious and service was incredible. They cater for food allergies which was an added bonus. Would definitely recommend and will be visiting again soon inshaaAllah

The best AUTHENTIC Biryani in Oldham and Manchester. It is made freshly in a pot. Unlike other restaurants where rice and curry are mixed together and they call it a biryani. Steak and drinks was also good.

Very nice place and clean … food was very tasty n juicy however we waited for a very long time for our food. I wanted a mojito but there wasn’t staff (on two separate occasions) Overall a good experience.

Madras was good, spicy as described and expected. Lamb masala was red and just tasted of coconut- not nice. Onion rice was good.

Very few places that ticks everything. This place is amazing. From Value to quality and quantity. Service from Afruz bhai was top.

First 2 times I went it was good .. this time I went it was empty yet had to wait an hour for the food. The steak was not cooked properly it was all watery . Told the staff it's watery and he took it inside only to bring it back burnt but said its "well done".. the fact that he was not accepting that the steak was burnt is just not on. Iv had steak before and I know what "well done" means and it definitely dosnt mean burnt.

Been here a couple of times and it was fab food and good service. It's not your typical greasy oily curry kind of place. A fab choice of dishes and there buffet during Ramadan was great.

Can't fault the cooking. Really excellent food with special praise for the Punjabi daal. Exquisite. Nice people too. Clean and modern. Prices fair. It's not licensed but the lassi is great. Amazed it wasn't full but Oldham is getting a bit quiet in the evenings. Recommended!

Best Example is of “unchi dukan pheeka pakwan” 1 hour waiting time for a tasteless chicken karahi and seekh kabab. Jug of lemonade was served in 5 minutes of order, assuming the main order will be served in 10-15 minutes. Which actually took almost an hour, and when I said plz change the lemonade because its just now a sweet water, I was really surprised to hear that I have to pay for it. First and last visit.

10/10 breakfast was amazing 👏 had the Bangladesh thali others had full English breakfast. Food was hot and tasty and the service was wonderful will be going again.

This restaurant is a little gem ,I visited this yesterday for the first time with my sister and friend we had a lovely Day ,I do a lot of home cooking so it does take a lot to impress me however I found the food amazing and I definitely will be going back to this restaurant and would definitely recommend to anyone .

We've eaten here 3 times now, our new favourite restaurant Lovely steaks and had a great time in the VIP room for a birthday party.

I pre-booked to hold a party for my sons first birthday. The owners were very supportive with what i wanted to do and how i wanted to set up the area they provided for me. Hats off to the chef as the full lamb and other food i pre ordered was a 10/10. All my family loved it and are already thinking when they want to come next

We really enjoyed our meal here.it was freshly cooked with obvious passion, full of flavour and so tasty. started with mixed samosas that were crisp and delicious ,also tried a prawn puri which was also good. We then chose the meat biriani ,the lamb was on the bone but was so soft it fell off easily. The spices were fresh and tangy ,we also ordered a keema paratha but could only manage a few lovely mouthfuls ,we took the rest home. Too good to leave. Friendly enthusiastic staff and owner who obviously take pride in their authentic dishes. Not your generic anglicised curry restaurant.

Yesterday I went there, I ordered starter and Biryani. Starter was OK but the chicken Biryani was awful, it Was made before like yesterday, you could tell it wasn't fresh, tasted old. Waiter told Me it was microwave seriously! Saucer plates was dirty, dirty cups, plate hads chips on the side Service was unprofessional, waiter serving the wrong drink, basically he said he didn't understand my language , awful service bad food.

This is my and my families first visit Firstly, this place looks amazing from the outside in. On arrival we were greeted with a warm welcome asking where we would like to sit We had an option which was nice We were given the menu which is a full fill full of amazing dishes We came specially for the sindy bhryani. Which a friend recommended The atmosphere was amazing The seating was very comfortable The wait for the food was long but it was well worth it The food was a 10/10 it was served nicely Services was great We got grill starters Sindy bhryani Ajooba Steak Sirloin steaks Chicken fillet burgers Strawberry mocktails Drinks Mango lassi Everything was spot on we complemented the chefs too and we were introduced to the chef which was nice and it's good to encourage people who really work hard making delicious dishes Well done At the end we were given really snazzy hot tissues pods Thats was a nice treat for the kids to experience Over all the experience was great food was amazing atmosphere was spot on I cant complain about the wait as it was worth it And, the food came out really nicely and presentable However our only complaint was the toilet 🚻 there was just one toilet in such a big place and there was no soap in the soap dispenser 😬 sorry bit somthing you could maybe consider 😉 Thank you for an amazing experience food and all my children really liked the food too We will be back all being well Thank you again 😊

The samosas, biryani and lamb handi all tasted so nice! The lamb was sliding off the bone and you could tell it had been cooked well. The roti and naan were fresh and the raita is very tasty. The staff were attentive too and kept checking in on us. Will definitely be coming back again

The food was excellent however the service was a bit slow.

Visited Cafe East a couple of weeks ago, with a little trepidation due to mixed online reviews. Though decided it's important to support and experience a local business. I prioritise food quality, customer service and then atmosphere/venue. Though, with Cafe East it's vice versa. The starters and biryani were alright. Disappointingly, the chicken curry was not. It was obviously presented with old and new pieces of chicken! Notably, the old chicken pieces were re-cooked and disintegrating. If fresh naan is the highlight of the meal, what does it tell you about the quality and taste of the food? If you are paying a premium price in Oldham , you expect quality food. Unless the venue is the highlight of your visit.

Visited Cafe East a few times and they have been consistent and exceptional with both their food and service! We have booked their VIP party room and they have catered extremely well for large family meals. It’s nice to be able to visit a restaurant of this high standard in Oldham without having to travel to Manchester. Would definitely recommend this to everyone who has not yet been.

Food was amazing, chef was very thoughtful and added extra veg strains dishes and allergies and intolerances were taken very seriously. Waiters were very attentive and all the food was hot and delicious!

We were invited to my cousins twins birthday party last Saturday and it was my first time, the food was amazing n the set up for a separate room upstairs for a party was really nice. The staff were committed to great service and very friendly well organized had no issues. They were also very helpful with giving me some takeaway containers when I asked for some to pack some food away from party no questions asked. The atmosphere was warm, classy and comfortable, I would definitely recommend my friends to go and check it out. Thank you so much n keep up the good work
