£4.50 for a soda water. Barman poured it out from a plastic bottle. Knew what he was doing. I’d just paid 70p for one in another bar. Shoddy.

Wow. What a place to do business! We sat in the garden and were energized by our espresso martinis. However, drinks had a tendency to spill - went all over my business partner! :( On the upside, drinks were a couple 0s cheaper. Overall… super good chakras. Decent feng shui. My word of the day: ssssensational!

I've been here a couple of times. It's on a popular street for food/drinks but slightly hidden by its 'cafe' front. It looks small and unassuming from the street, and although there are only 4-5 tables inside and the bar takes up much of the thin room, talk to the bar staff and ask if there's any space outside. If they say yes, then check it out. Down the stairs and out onto an open terrace (sheltered by retractable canopies and a semi-roof at the end. Benches in the middle and comfortable seating under the semi-roof. Chilled vibes are playing and the heat lamps are great for those times when it's a little chilly but you don't want to move inside. It can get noisy if large crowds of people arrive, but generally it's a nice spot, away from the busyness of tourist Waterloo, to have a drink, chat and catch up with friends. I would highly recommend it.

After a great meal at Cubana this bar was just round the corner, table and stools outside it was an ideal place for people watching. Prices were reasonable and service was delivered with a friendly chat which is great. Great beer to the rear of the bar with ample seating, tables and toilets a real hidden gem of a place.

I’ve been commuting via Waterloo for years but only recently explored the area outside with various colleagues and mates. Cafe Del Marsh is a unique little spot away from the mass chain pubs and has a French cafe / bar feel. Excellent beer garden to the rear and they serve some good strong continental lager which goes down well!

My boyfriend and I stopped here on our way to the hotel for a bit of lunch. As far as we could see the only hot food they actually served was a choice of 4 paninis. My boyfriend got one of those and I got a pain au chocolat, and we both had tea. The tea was served in mugs, already made with milk (so no choice there then). Honestly everything was fine until half way through my pain au chocolat a massive hair got stuck in my teeth. I was nearly sick. The girl behind the bar had disappeared somewhere into the courtyard though and didn't come back for at least 15 minutes. I decided to just pay for it and not complain (I'm a waitress, these things happen (though the thing cost me £3 and I wanted to scream (and I also wasn't certain that she wouldn't think that I had planted the hair there myself while she was gone))).I gave her Scottish £20 and she disappeared again for 5 minutes to ask her manager if that was alright. This is a café right beside Waterloo station, how could she not have seen Scottish money before? My boyfriend used the toilet and told me that it was basically just a garden shed out the back with a urinal and a sink and there's spiders everywhere.

A lovely chilled bar in busy Waterloo however spoilt by the smokey garden. The garden area which is mostly covered has been deemed as a smoking area and has a constant haze of blue smoke which is disgusting!! We thought the comfortable sofas and chilled music were great but did not realise we were entering a smokers paradise!! Can the bar owners please re consider this as there is plenty of room for the smokers to have their nicotine fix outside the front of the bar ? I don't understand how a covered garden area can be considered as open space ? I have not seen so much smoke since the 1980s !! Nice garden but wholly spoilt by the smog beware your lungs could be damaged here !!

This is an area of London with not much to it. Cubana is the destination of choice for most, but I advise missing it if you see my review of the place. The Camel and Artichoke is pretty good (yet another review), but Cafe del Marsh is a phenomenal find. From the outside, it looks tiny - a little panini servery. Inside, you'll find a large and beautiful beer garden out back. It's an absolute civilised oasis. Beers are all bottled, but a surprisingly large selection considering. I can't recommend this place highly enough for the area, and it's where I'll be going exclusively from now on when out near Waterloo.

In my opinion, by far the best of the possible coffee stops on Lower Marsh Market. The decor is bright, tasteful and pleasant. The coffee was top notch, quite reasonably priced at £1.80 for a very generous cup. The cappuccino was on point as well. There's a nice enough little garden. The visit was only enhanced by the cheerful and accommodating attitude of the barista. A real gem, and recommended.

This place doesn't look like too much from the outside, but go straight through to the garden! It's pretty big considering the small shop front. Great framed posters, and the crowd in the garden sounded lively. A lovely find.

I first went to Cafe del Marsh with a friend who lives locally for a coffee - I was immediately struck by the simple stylish surroundings and the very relaxed atmosphere perpetrated by the proprietor James. Excellent coffee and toasties. I was looking for a venue for the occasional drinks party with my clients and decided to go ahead and arrange as there is a useful and attractive inside/outside space at the back. Since then we have held half a dozen drinks evenings and Christmas parties and James has developed the cafe and outside space so well - we always have a wonderful time there - candles on the tables traditional tasteful decorations and tree at Xmas and he will arrange simple snacks and finger food if you like. If I really had to be very picky I suppose the loos are a bit small but quite adequate. Whether you are half way through a busy shopping trip or office day or want somewhere to meet a friend that is attractive and relaxed and not too expensive - go to Cafe Del Marsh - love it - thanks James!

The gentlemen who left the last review did not order coffee or ask me to throw away his cup. He wanted to sit outside the front of the shop with it while he ate his panini.I may well have overreacted a little in hindsight, it is just I care a great deal about the coffee I sell here, and will not allow Starbucks/Costa or any other outside coffee here in the shop. I think this is very bad manners, and consider this a more important point of principal, than any one particular sale. I have run my business here for the last nine years and I started with nothing, I appreciate every customer I have.

I must point out that I did say to the cafe owner that the Starbucks coffee cup was empty and that I was going to put it in the bin. Still he refused to serve us because we walked in with it. Clearly he doesn't need the business. Avoid at all cost. Unless you like to be treated like trash.

This is a cafe run by genuine local residents and in central London they are truly a dying species! So there is a personable friendliness about the place that you would never get at Starbucks. They started out as a coffee bar but have evolved into to a sort of Bistro selling drinks in the evening. With the nice coffee are simple snacks. So this is a great place to pop into during your travels daily.

Really disappointed. The café has recently come under new management and the quality of the coffee and pastries plus the service has really gone downhill. Hostile atmosphere from the staff. Terrible coffee (milk either burnt or lukewarm, doesn't look like they know the difference between a latte and a flat white). Out of date pastries. This used to be a great little local spot but not anymore. The new owners need to make an effort to train their staff and get on top of fresh produce deliveries (what happened to the amazing almond and chocolate croissants?).
