I attended a training course here and the facilities were very good. Up to date and easy to use. The buffet lunch was the highlight. The sandwiches were very fresh and tasy. A mix of bread, French bread and wraps were available. There was a range of both meat and vegetarian fillings. Both were plentiful and excellent. We also has a mushroom soup which was very flavoursome. The whole place was spotlessly clean, including the toilets. I would be very happy to visit again. Staff were very helpful and provided a warm welcome.

I used to eat here a lot as I worked in the building but having left that job I hadn’t been in for months. I took my teenage granddaughter for breakfast this Sunday morning and we decided to be adventurous and ordered the pancake with fresh fruit and maple syrup dish. We were disappointed to find there was one strawberry, a few grapes and a few slices of apple sandwiched between the pancake sitting on top of a dish of watery maple syrup. The pancakes were not freshly made and the maple syrup was thin and watery. The chef really needs to revisit this dish and put more effort into this. There should of been a variety of fresh fruit with lovely freshly made pancakes, made to order so you can taste and smell the freshness. The maple syrup should be served separately in a jar or jug also with some fresh cream or yoghurt. When I explained to the waitress she was not interested in what I had to say and told us the pancakes were freshly made. They did taste like freshly made pancakes, let alone the fresh fruit was very basic and sparse. As you can see from the photo, there was no imagination put into this dish whatsoever. The two portions cost me just under £14 - i guess you know why I was disappointed as for that price I was expecting value and quality. I was disappointed as I had read so many positive reviews for this cafe. Perhaps we made the wrong choice 🙄

I called in here for some lunch. The daily specials were steak pie or Scotch eggs. Both sounded good, but I opted for a baked potato with beans and cheese. It was pleasant enough, served with some salad on the side and a good helping of beans, maybe not so much cheese as I would like. There was nothing wrong with it, but I have had better elsewhere. Maybe I should have gone for an all day breakfast, which I saw someone else have, and it looked great. However I noticed several tables booked by people who had ordered afternoon tea, and that looked amazing, with a big cake stand in the middle of the table overflowing with goodies. There's no way I would be able to eat all that, but I would love to try. The selection of cakes and tray bakes behind the counter looked appealing too. That may be my next visit. The ambience of the place is very pleasant and staff were up to standard.

I have just had a great evening with friends enjoying an excellent buffet at this venue. Many thanks to Nina and her team at Cafe Coast who opened up 8.30pm till late for our private party. The excellent buffet included both hot and cold food, the bruschetta was particularly tasty. I have no hesitation in recommending this venue for a celebration, it is central with private parking, lovely food and the staff are very cooperative, nothing was too much trouble.

We go with friends every year at this time for a Christmas lunch. Normally the food is excellent but this time it was disappointing. The starters and sweets were fine but the main courses were of poor quality. I had the turkey and found the vegetables to be over cooked and the turkey came in rectangular slabs and a bit dry. The service was fine although the waitresses got the wine order wrong initially. We will still go back next year and hopefully it will be back to it's usual standard.

Ok is a rubbish title for a review but I genuinely couldn't sum up the visit with anything else. We stopped to have lunch whilst shopping with our infant son. The car park is too small in the first instance which to be fair is not the venues issue esp in Aberdeen however a large number of the spaces were either blocked off or reserved which didn't help. The greeting and service when we arrived was very average. I wouldn't class it as friendly or warm but they did get the job done in terms of seating us quickly and taking our order. We weren't explained the specials just told to look at the board which was a bit odd. The menu is good for lunch or breakfast. Basic choices but enough for a simple meal. The food did take longer that I would have thought to arrive given it wasn't overly busy but still in reasonable "not worthy of a moan" territory. Food was ok. Nothing to shout about. Good enough sized portions. I don't think I'll be back. It just lacks something, not sure what.

It was our first visit here but it won't be our last. It was easy to find and there were plenty of spaces in the car park. The café itself it lovely, it has a peaceful, friendly atmosphere. We had the afternoon tea which was excellent value for money (£11.95pp) and anything you don't manage is given to you in a box to take home. We all chose different sandwiches, I have to say I've had nicer brown bread, but the white was very soft and fresh, they all had plenty of filling and a lovely wee salad at the side. The scones were among the best I've ever eaten. Freshly made on the premises everyday, they were light and tasty, they also came with a generous pot of cream and jam.The cakes were excellent, there was a good selection and they all tasted really good, the lemon meringue tarts were really different and I could of happily eaten them all if I wasn't so full from sandwiches and scones! The service was faultless, warm and friendly and attentive without being overly fussy and the whole place was spotlessly clean.I've rated this four out of five, but it's so nearly a five. To get that extra mark I would have better bread and make individual mini cakes instead of small slices of larger ones. That said I cant wait to go back and try some of their other large cakes that were on display, all made on the premises and they all looked amazing.

Cafe Coast is a little gem amongst the myriad of eateries in Aberdeen and if you want a delicious yet inexpensive medal then you should definitely check this place out. We arrived as a party of ten and the waiting staff gave us plenty of time to read through the short but interesting menu. My wife ordered the fishcake with wilted spinach and poached eggs whereas I plumped for the haggis topped venison burger accompanied by crunchy wedges, salad and a beautiful creamy coleslaw. The food did take a good half an hour to arrive but it was worth the wait. The burger was rich, juicy and full of flavour. The haggis was spicy which is exactly how I like it but it was the wedges that stole the show. They were crispy to the point of almost being considered as burnt. They had been cooked in their skins which was a welcome touch and very tasty with little hints of rosemary. My wife's dish was fantastic although to be fair it didn't look anywhere near as good as it tasted. First off the bat it was big, packed full of fish and soft, creamed mash with a satisfying crunchy breadcrumb. The wilted spinach and two soft poached eggs finished the dish of perfectly. We will visit cafe Coast again next time we find ourselves in Aberdeen as the food is tasty, unpretentious and reasonably priced. What more could you ask for?5 out of 5

Needed a quick mid morning snack so popped into Cafe Coast for a scone and a coffee. There was a good choice including cheese, fruit and plain and I plumped for a giant cheese one. It was really tasty and very good value, especially given the size of it!Would recommend a visit - I'll be back for lunch next time.

I had lunch at Cafe Coast recently and enjoyed one of the best bowls of soup I have had in a long time. The menu is great value for money and the coffee and cakes are fantastic! The quality of the food and value for money is made even more attractive by the fact that the cafe is run by a local charity that supports people with learning disabilities.I will definitely be returning!

Having read reviews of the hood breakfast here came on a cold Saturday morning for breakfast, chose the all day with extra one for a pound (bargain) deal, waitress serving us was a Larger Eastern European girl with zero skills in customer service, informed her I didn't like eggs so would like my breakfast without them to be replied with a so they come like that take it or not, when good arrived some 45 minutes later ( only four other tables in cafe at this time) cut into sausages to find them undercooked yet bacon burnt to a crisp, decided not to wait for another one and was informed couldn't anyway as table was needed for Christmas function, overall staff choose to stand behind counter speaking amogst themselves rather that serving customers, I go to the bread makers regularly and like supporting local charities but this ones making zero effort for customer care, no stars

Went for our Sunday breakfast and weren't disappointed. We have been here on numerous occasions for breakfast and it's always first class. Food is always so tasty and reasonably priced. Service is usually first class but there was an issue today of the blonde haired supervisor being far too interested in 'chatting' with one of her colleagues rather than attending to customers. One lovely little girl was running around trying to do everything while these two chatted away. Hats off to her. Saying this we would definitely recommend here for food and on our previous visits the service has been second to none.

This cafe is consistent with its good food at all times of the day. The staff are attentive but not over powering. We sat for ages catching up with each other and no one asked us to leave, just provided more drinks. Fantastic - Thanks

I always forget that this place exists, prompted by our spree book, my Gran & I headed down for an early lunch. It was quite busy but all the waiting staff were pleasant & welcoming, nothing was too much trouble. The food was about average, nothing to get excited about it but tasty & filling all the same.As is a common theme in Aberdeen, I wish they had more selection for vegetarians/Vegans.

This is the 2nd time we have had lunch here and have been impressed on both occasions. It's very child friendly and great to find toddler booster chairs too. I visited with my mother and my two year old. As soon as we sat down at the table, the waitress came over with crayons and the children's menu which also acts as a colouring in sheet and kept my little boy amused. There is a good choice on the menu and the prices are reasonable by Aberdeen standards. Service was very quick indeed and no compromise on food quality. Portions are quite large and therefore my mother took some of her sandwiches home in a napkin as she just couldn't finish everything! The staff are very friendly and the lovely ladies at reception gave my little boy some bubbles as we left which I thought was a really lovely gesture. We will certainly return and I believe some of the other critical reviews are unjustified.

Having had lunch and snacks here previously we decided to try the High Tea. It was both delicious and excellent value. The prices range from £8.95 to £11.95 depending on which main course you choose and this includes tea/ coffee, toast, main course, pancakes, scones and cakes. The battered fish and chips was superb and I thoroughly enjoyed the macaroni cheese. The helpings were generous too with chips or baked potato as an accompaniment to each main course. The young staff were efficient and pleasant. A nice start to a Saturday evening.

Went to Cafe Coast this morning with an 'itison' deal voucher for breakfast for 2. Had reserved a table for 3, having been informed it would be OK for 2 of our party to use the voucher and then pay for the 3rd persons order. My sister & I ordered our breakfasts as per the deal and my mother, who is in her 80's and has a smaller appetite, ordered from the individual items on the menu (bacon, egg & toast). When the food arrived, the waiter (a somewhat pleasant term for him given his subsequent attitude) told us my mothers food had been accidentally added to my sister's plate (now comes the good bit!..) and that she would have to eat her own items from my sister's plate in consequence!!! After informing the waiter (a-hem) this was not a suitable option for my mother (i.e. leaning across a table and eating her own meal from another person's plate) he did finally go and remove my mothers breakfast from my sisters plate and (hallelujah, what luxury!) my mother got a plate all to herself to eat from!!! On a positive note, the food was good & so we managed to overlook the poorly trained waiter's understanding of 'normal' eating habits. However, things took a down turn again when we wished to pay the bill. After waiting for what seemed an eternity from requesting the bill, we got billed for all the food, inc. that which had been pre-paid by the itison voucher (note, we handed over the voucher when we placed our order). In trying to explain this to the waitress/cashier, she appeared to have no idea that Cafe Coast are running an itison deal and it was only by myself (!) finding our voucher lying beside the till that she seemed to accept 2 of the meals had already been paid for in advance. She then said she would be required to charge me for another 'full' breakfast on the basis of my mother's order (1 (half) slice of bacon, 1 egg & toast - all with individual prices on the menu). I told her this was ridiculous / not as per menu prices and as the 'discussion' had now become a bit heated, 'original-waiter-still-needs-to-be-trained-guy' re-appeared to (believe it or not!!) sort things out! He did some button-pressing on the till and although I still do not know if I was charged correctly or not, went along with what he said & paid, just to get out of the place! To (what could have been) their credit, I did get an apology for that which had taken place (which they said was due to their being busy) - however when I pointed out that' being busy' was not really reason for informing my mother she would need to eat her meal from my sister's plate, or the multiple mess-ups involved re. the itison deal / bill - I am sad to say their apology went down the drain as 'waiter-I-really-need-that-training-like-yesterday-guy's' response was to shrug at me in the context of "I really don't give a s**t". All in all, the worst service I have ever experienced when eating out, with the worst staff attitude imaginable. My advice is DO NOT GO, TELL YOUR FRIENDS & FAMILY NOT TO GO, TELL EVEN YOUR MILDEST ACQUAINTANCES NOT TO GO (especially if they are aged over 80 as, on reading at least one other Trip Advisor review about this place, it seems they are pretty ageist!! - shame, considering they're supposed to be a charity related venue!) and yes, I am hacked off after my Cafe Coast experience.......you have been warned Oh! potential victim (sorry, diner).

Went today with family members. My father is over eighty so asked for either kids or smaller portion menu. He was made to look foolish when told this was not allowed. We then heard the waitress talking to colleague about him and laughing. Our food was terrible. Spaghetti and meatballs stodgy and tasteless. Liver on liver and bacon dish was burned and could not be cut We told waitress but that was a waste of time. No apology. No compensation. Paid bill as my father did not want to make a fuss. Have been before and was ok but will certainly never be back

I suppose I'd be considered a regular. The food is usually good, they serve a good all day breakfast (and a veggie one too), portions sometimes too hearty. You'll get a good cup of coffee and a reasonable tray bake, the staff could sometimes be a little more attentive but they are friendly; there's also free wi-fi. The down side is the atmosphere, sometimes you can hardly carry out conversation for the noisy pop music (no, its not easy listening) and the chairs make such a noise when moved about they would give you a headache! Overall hygiene is good and the toilets are clean. The parent company (Inspire) supports people with special needs so I'll continue to be a 'regular' since I believe in what they do. However no-one should take loyalty for granted.

A social enterprise cafe in a good location with parking which, when we turned up, was busy and full of promise. Unfortunately, the food was poor and the service was worse. The burger and veggie-burger were mediocre, served with chips, but forgettable. What really let the place down though was the service. Someone from a table nearby made a request which couldn't be met and, despite being friendly to his face, when his back was turned the member of staff made a point of mocking him. This poor attitude continued in response to a couple of calls received when we were there and, as we left, it was clear the staff were speaking to each other in a language other then English. We're unlikely to return.
