Cafe Belgica in Falkirk

Stats don’t lie ! Shocking meal and so say everyone thats reviewed this furniture cafe in last 3 months - had to give this 1 star as cannot give zero - not ex employee but very unhappy customer- no need for abusive reply ps from management as not be back for sofa or soda!

Over the years Our family and friends have regularly had beautiful food at Cafe Belgica and we often went out of our way to recommend the venue to others. Our visit today however was horrendous. Poor menu - where has the lovely steak pie gone -the tasty gluten free macaroni cheese that my sister so enjoyed? Instead we were served burnt baked potatoes, overly dressed salad which had more onions than salad leaves. It seems to me that there is no chef in the kitchen at all as the menu consists of breakfast items, sandwiches and toasties none of which require much expertise to prepare!!! And. … how do you burn baked potatoes? Worse still who actually expects their clientele to eat them, pay dearly for them and then return for a repeat experience. False economy because I for one don’t believe that the cafe did not pay its way. That was the highlight of people’s visits to Belgica. Prices have remained high(£53 for 3 of us!!!!) Not acceptable for such poor quality!choice and food. poor attention given to those with dietary restrictions and needs. I certainly will not return and will warn others of the rapid decline of Cafe Belgica. Interestingly the manager appears to have been first to alter his lunchtime arrangements -conspicuous by his absence in the cafe today.????

Was favourite of ours for a coffee or lunch, not any more after todays offering. Far reduced menu, the toasted sandwiches we were served were terrible and vastly overpriced. Cafe used to have a nice vibe and always busy but not anymore just depressing and half empty.

We have been regularly using Cafe Belgica for over a year and enjoyed the warm, friendly welcome from the regular staff backed up with a great chef and kitchen team serving delicious hot food. Additionally there was always a good selection of moist, flavoursome and tempting cakes to choose from to go with your coffee or tea. Sadly all of this has been taken away with a vastly reduced menu and only the odd cake now available, the latest of which was dry and tasteless. Clearly, it had not been baked recently and was poor quality. We are at a loss to understand why these changes have been made as it is no longer a lovely vibrant and busy space with happy staff serving enticing food options. Sadly, we will not return as there are much better options available elsewhere.

What a disappointment Care Belgica . 4 of us went for Brunch and we couldn't believe the difference, the menue has been grately reduced, the selection of cakes had gone from excellent to very poor. We had booked for opening time on a Sunday so one of the first tables in, as it wasn't busy at that point you would think the service would be quick, not so. Although our order was taken quickly our drinks eventually arrived minus my husbands coffee. After waiting 35 minutes our food arrived, minus my husbands order. By then our drinks were finished and we had to order another 3 drinks (husban didn't bother as he had waited so long for his first one). The food was OK but nothing special. Sorry Belgica but we won't be back which is sad as when we have been in on other occasions we have often bought other things, including at one point new bedroom furniture and I am sure we are not the only ones that have done that.

Oh dear....total binfire of a place 50 minute wait for food, forgot to bring our drinks, 3 of us had finished before the 4,th got her food. 'Belgica'?!? Judging by the speed we got our lunch I think Belgium must be where the kitchen is.

Have been going to Cafe Belgica since it opened most weekends and the staff are friendly and food good. However the new gentleman is very abrupt and rude, the menu has been reduced that much there is very little choice, food I would normally eat no longer there. Cake selection now is terrible. I feel so sorry for the staff was such a lovely place met lots of lovely customers over the years. Unfortunately such a change is going to lose so many of the regular customers. Kerry, Justine, Pauline and the rest of the girls do such an amazing job it's just a shame the owner has made so many changes to what was a lovely friendly, homely place.

We go here alot and really enjoy it. However, yesterday there was a male who appeared to be a new manager. Everything about the place was still as good but if he is a permanent fixture there now I don’t think we’ll be back. He was very rude & abrupt the way he spoke to us, and the way he addressed the staff really wasn’t nice. Such a shame because we do like going here.

Delicious food, good quality and great service. We had the open sandwiches, Brie and cranberry and goat’s cheese and red onion chutney- gorgeous!

We are regulars at Cafe Belgica, and have noticed a gradual decline in the meals being served over the last several months. The quality of food has remained the same, I think, but the actual cooking and correctness of orders has changed. It was clearly underlined this week, when we came in for lunch at the beginning of the week (when their old chef was covering) - everything just tasted better - seasoned, cooked and presented to its best. After lunch today again, things have gone back to being less flavourful. Pity that their old chef left, really…..

Wonderful cafe ,tasty food and staff that couldn’t be more helpful .Even though it is inside a furniture warehouse the cafe is wonderful .Very attentive staff and so friendly and helpful .Extensuve menu and very tasty .My only criticism is the portions were too large ,One lunch would have fed the both of us .

First visit to cafe. Delicious food. Large portions of both Steak pie and fish & chips. Fresh tasty side salad. Beautiful decor. Will return.

Was out shopping with my wife a few weeks back and popped into Belgica to look and furniture and decided to have some lunch during our visit. It was Saturday afternoon around 12.30 and the café was busy however we managed to get a table. The team of staff are all very welcoming and were very busy throughout our stay. I ordered the Burger that came with salad and chips. I asked for no tomato or onions however I managed to get plenty of them on my plate when it arrived. The burger was nice well cooked and presented, the chips were ok, not that many of them and the salad & slaw was good once I had removed all the tomato and onions. The café has a good atmosphere, lots of different food choices from snack style, full meals or coffee and cake. Would go back again if ever in this area.

Coffee was lovely. Cheese savoury sandwich was revolting, hardly a grating of cheese was on the sandwich with a little onion and a load of mayonnaise. Personally I wouldn’t have served this to anyone . If you ask for a cheese savoury you expect cheese in it. When we went to pay nobody asked how our meal was, customer service severely lacking. Won’t be back for food.

Accompanied by my husbands protests that "It's a furniture shop, not a coffee shop' we stopped for coffee and cakes on the way back from visiting Kinneil House. Excellent coffee and a good selection of cakes and my friend had a very well filled roll and sausage. Not just a furniture shop at all!

Just a chance lunch time visit when out for a drive and going through Bo’ness. Looks nothing from outside but such a surprise inside. Beautiful furniture store with luxury cafe. Gorgeous furnishings in the cafe and delicious freshly cooked breakfasts for us (just made the midday cut off for breakfast). Well staffed and nice to see lots of local young people working there, being trained up. Reasonably priced and delicious food.

I decided to book for lunch as I knew it would probably be busy. I I was right in no time the cafe was full. We had baked potato with coronation chicken and salad and a hot dog with onions. Coffee and cake to follow. Delicious. Service was excellent. Afterwards we spent time wandering through the showrooms. Beautiful display of furnishings etc. Will certainly return.

Keep your coat on, even the staff were freezing. Although our breakfast and warm coffee heated us up nicely! Breakfast was delicious, would definitely recommend! We arrived at 10am and there was plenty of seats available, however by 11am it was starting to get fuller. It might be worth booking if you plan to visit at busier times.

Lovely coffee. I had a fruit scone which was delicious. My husband had Eggs Benedict which was a generous portion and well cooked. Other meals being served looked great too. Wide range on menu. Will definitely go back 😊

Throughly recommend, fantastic food and pretty good value for money. Soup and sandwich was excellent, coffee and cake did not disappoint either. We will definitely return.

My son and I have a breakfast league, after this morning's visit Belgica is currently in top place. Smashed avocado (with peppers, red onion and cherry tomatoes through it) is in fact the best ever, served with toast and poached eggs it was delicious, son also rated his vegetarian breakfast as the best in a long time. We're lucky to get a table as they were almost all reserved and listening to the phone calls they were booked all day. Lesson - definitely book ahead. Will be back soon.
