Booked the venue for a party, staff were amazing, and the DJ they helped us book was awesome. The room was decorated beautifully, BUT.....the buffet food was less than desirable sandwiches were mediocre like it was a thin spreading of whatever sandwich spread they had on thin dry bread not even a sighting of a single piece of salad on their sandwiches, sausage rolls were just cooked and no more, very pale and soggy, these triangle things that were absolutely nasty. We had our wedding reception here 10 years ago and the food and buffet was amazing like proper homestyle food, mince and tatties, steak pie, macaroni, now it's all curries.

Stayed here for a night for Edinburgh airport, good bar, and the Indian restaurant was really good, the staff are very friendly and helpful.

You are not going to find anything good, quite the opposite: dirt, smells and reluctance. Don't pay attention to Booking (it doesn't publish comments)

Good parking, premises has wheelchair access. I went here for dinner and food was of a high standard, service was quick. Surroundings are pleasant. Prices were reasonable. I would recommend this place if you like Indian cuisine. We didn't stay at the hotel so couldn't comment on this. Give the restaurant a try , you won't be disappointed.

Room to small bed to small bedding inadequate cleanliness to be desired there 4 days housekeeper came in once only made bed no clean towels in 4 days had to ask reception for loo rolls and milk room so small bed was pushed up to wall bottom of bed was The bedside cabinets with the kettle on it and the wardrobe so had to climb over it to get out of bed no good if ur pensioners ,no chair or no lamp to read by and no extra bedding now we come on to the bathroom so slippy when using the shower no bin in bathroom No breakfast Available and no facilities to get anyway how many lunch and even a meal not everybody likes Indian menu wasn’t much of a choice for English either .

Lovely staff , food was superb , perfect portion sizes and very attentive. Only observation is that the 3 chilli hot dish needed a bit more “ bite” , however I do eat a lot of spicy food and the flavour more than compensated

Had a fantastic meal and was served by Sof and Ryan who were very welcoming and loved their table side manner it makes all the difference. The food was delicious well worth a visit.

Not really a hotel. It's more of a rented room beside a pub. The mattress on the bed not worth having there, you could feel the hard base through it. But bedding good quality and very clean.Staff very helpful but only indian food available in attached restaurant. Also very popular pub attached with late licence.

Without a doubt the best curry I have ever had. The staff were so attentive, welcoming and knowledgeable. I can’t recommend this place enough.

Sept 2020. The decor inside is nice service good but my lentil soup was only warm & watery. My lady friend had lovely 🔥 crisp hagis tubes BUT the base of her lovely presented round cheese cake was a bit too hard. Tue 30/4/24 Back in again at ten to one with my 2 American friends + a few others & they were most impressed by the service & the sampling of some off the sauses, & all the food that we consumed was spot on SO what more do you want than that. Monday 22/4/24. 12.15 pm Back again for the 3rd time, now that they serve up Indian meals. I went for their £13.95 two course from their lunch menu that's on from 12 - 3pm & the waiter who i thought was the chef said he would give me some chicken tikka along with my vegetable pakora - like what i would call a semi mixed starter & it was spot on along with the lovely tasting dip 10/10 MAIN COURSE Chicken Kolhapur & rice. There r some who might like the rice to be a bit sticky [which i don't] or better still fluffy, but this rice was more on the firm side & there was plenty off it & it was piping hot🔥 It's always good to see the red pepper 🌶️ 🌶️ 🌶️ symbols or emogies on their menu. It gives an idea as to how hot 🥵 the meal can be & i was told that they will alter the spicyness/heat of it if u so desire. There were NO tough chicken 🐤 in my starter or in my Kolhapur meal. 10/10. Now what wasn't piping hot - was my plate 🍽️ that Ryan (the waitress) put down on my table, i said to him there's a major problem here & b4 i could say what it was - he just realised & said the plate's cold & without any arguments he was happy 😄 to take it away & heat it up & apologised that it wasn't het up when it came. My dear departed twin brother said to me, always wait for 1/2 an hour b4 going for a CHINESE meal to give the wok time to heat up SO that might also be a good idea to give the plates time to heat up too. I will return with some friends at the end of the month, for their very pleasant waitress service, lovely seating areas, & great 💯% tasting food + reasonably priced soft drinks. So all those who haven't been here, take a trip out & you won't be disappointed 👍 Just make sure you don't get a cold 🍽️ < plate 😁

Very small rooms, nice warm, good facilities but missing chair and table to eat and drink English tea. needs more bright lamp too dark. bed too small for 2 people. Good bathroom. Parking lot has a hole in the street and is dirty and a large hole of water about 20 cm deep.

Fab food and waiters made it a great experience

The full experience was excellent from the welcome at the door! The staff were very attentive and helpful answering any questions about the menu as we hadn’t been before. The menu catered for the kids (teens) very well and they also loved the food/place. The food portions were perfect, taste amazing and overall 5/5! Highly recommend the place. Location easy with a car.

Me and my mrs went out to the oxgang tonight for a meal again. They have only gone and done it once again they never let me down the food is perfect the service is excellent and the staff are magnificent they are well mannered welcoming you from the moment you first step in. They ask you how you are doing. If there is any problems they get it sorted there and then. The places is spotless no dust or anything I’d give this a 10/10 well done oxgang.

Room, small, which was fine, squeaky floorboards, kettle wouldn't go under tap, fan didn't work, no chair. All of them not a real problem, just saying what we found, the room under £50 pound was ok .

I have been here weekly, usually for lunch with another family member since it opened however occasionally like tonight we go for dinner instead. Due to how popularly it is you need to book well in advance ( however it is truly worth it ). The decor and ambiance is nice, friendly & relaxed. You are greeted on entry with staff who are friendly and pleased to see you, when you have been a few times you then feel like you’re part of the family. Food is amazing, doesn’t matter what you get ( I have had a good few things ) all fantastic. Best thing - there is a front of house member of staff who is fantastic, from how he greets you on arrival to the quick chat as he’s taking the stuff away . He always has time for everyone. The owner is approachable and wants feedback, when this is given he acts on this( not that I have had much to feedback except great) however I did feed back when at other restaurant had tried a dish that was all right but not fab and right away owner asked me to try again at this restaurant, I did tonight and it was amazing. Would seriously recommend this place

Went in a group of 10 for the 2 course Indian Lunch menu. Food was delicious, service was top notch, really enjoyed it. Looking forward to another visit already.

Our 1st visit, having heard great reviews. We were met and shown to our table by lovely friendly waiter. The decor is fresh and modern. There's an extensive menu to choose from. We both had Indian and loved it. I ordered the lamb with a tangy sauce. It didn't look appealing, but it was delicious. Loads of chunks of mouth watering Lamb. My partner had the chicken tikka chasni and again packed full of fresh chicken. We shared the mix pakora, which was tasty, and the Peshwari Nan Bread was amazing, with plenty of coconut through it. We will recommend and most definitely return to try different dishes.

The hotel is very run down. As we were on a tight time schedule and it was a last minute trip, we threw out bags in and got on our way. It was late and we were tired when we got back so thought room was “OK” for the stay. When we got up in the morning we were surprised at what we hadn’t seen. A patch of black mould on wall from an obviously recurring leak,as it had been poorly patched up previously. The both windows were opaque from blown double glazing. The double bed was leaning to one side. Turns out a wheel is missing. The cheap furniture is barely holding together and the Formica type coating chipped in many places. The shower door was off it’s rail. Although I will say the bathroom was much nicer than the bedroom. The bedding felt thin and rough and although I didn’t remove it the quilt looked old and worn through the cover. We were going to book the Premier Inn but due to the location being closer and the photos of the restaurant and bar looking nice chose this. The restaurant closes a 8, and the food looked nice. The chef was very friendly as was the manager who booked us in. There is no breakfast option, and the bar is supposed to close at 11 but on the second night the girl closed it early. She said she’d called last orders but my husband was at the bar watching the darts and didn’t hear her. (Not a big bar). The evening before the lovely bar person actually asked us if we’d like another drink as she was going to cash up. Our friends from Grangemouth said it was more a “contractors” accommodation. Well if my husband was working away from home I think he’d expect a better standard of accommodation than they are offering. The car park is also in very poor condition with large pot holes. All in all very disappointed.

We had heard and read so many great things about this restaurant and it lived up to all our expectations. There were 4 adults in our group and we all had a different main meal and all said that these were some of the best we had ever had at any Indian restaurant. The food is so fresh and full of flavour without being too spicy. The staff were all very attentive and knowledgeable about the meals on the menu. We can’t wait to find any excuse to return.

We were on our Christmas Night Out on Friday evening @ the new Swaran Indian Restaurant at the Oxgang Bar & Kitchen. From start to finish our experience was fantastic. The food was absolutely amazing, the staff we so friendly and had a great sense of humour and the place was so clean! We had a great night and cant wait to return. :-)

We heard about the revamp and new menu so went for lunch. The refurbishment is lovely and comfortable, restful greys and greens. The staff were friendly and attentive. The lunch menu had all the old favourites, I had butter chicken with paratha and my husband had chicken bhuna with nan. Both very tasty, the butter chicken was the best ever, subtle flavours I could taste mango. I have to say I have eaten Asian food from Hong Kong to San Francisco and back. Yes really. This was one of the best and right on my doorstep. Fabulous, if they keep this standard up it will be a local institution. :-)

Absolutely brilliant... Went in on day 2 of the new menu after the change to Swaran Indian Cuisine. Tasty as anything, great menu options, extremely helpful & friendly staff, managers that seem to really care about your experience - and the football on in the bar! Ticks all the boxes for us. Visited here many years ago, but it's since been renovated and now very much looks the part. Very stylish inside with comfy seating, great lighting and a nice relaxed atmosphere. We went for the lunch deal, which consists of 2 courses for £14 or 3 for £18. I obviously had the 3 'cause my eyes are way bigger than my belly. We had: Salt & Chilli Tempura Chicken Margherita Pizza Homemade Chilli Bowl Chocolate Brownie Chocolate Nut Crunch w/ Ferrero Ice Cream What I will say is the portion sizes were good, and everything was served hot and quick, by very friendly staff. The food, unfortunately, was a bit of a mixed bag. My main problem was the lack of any big flavours. There was nothing here that really enticed you to want to come back and order it again. The Chilli was probably the most underwhelming of them all, with no real punch of heat or spice, and a very watery sauce. The desserts, on the other hand, were actually much better. They were well presented and definitely hit the spot on the flavour front. The Brownie being our favourite of the two. The lunch deal is a great price, and you won't be disappointed with the surroundings at The Oxgang, but overall the food just didn't leave me wanting more.
