Cafe Andeluz in Edinburgh, City of

We stopped by Cafe Andaluz while exploring the area, and it was a convenient option for a quick bite. It was the first place we came across, and after a morning of walking, we were quite hungry. We tried the haggis here, and it was by far the best we had during our trip, outshining what we had at two other places. If you're looking to try haggis, this is the one to try. Despite the restaurant being empty at the time, the food did the trick and satisfied our cravings.

5/5 it was amazing, quick and friendly service. All plates of food were delicious. Highly recommend. Ideal for kids or couples.

The food here is great, the atmosphere is also very good.

A lovely location with reasonable food. Unfortunately the Service Staff seemed a bit overwhelmed, and when I explained that our 1st bottle of wine was 'corked' I was 'challenged' on my opinion, without the waiter smelling or tasting the wine. Rather sad, because it was a lovely Family evening.

The atmosphere is beautiful and the service is great, but unfortunately I had pain in my stomach after eating.

A superb place with a great atmosphere and ambience. Excellent value for money and delicious freshly cooked food and wine too. A great location with good access for disabled people. Friendly and helpful staff. Recommended.

Delicious GAMBAS PIL PIL GF and Paella 😋😋

As most “Spanish” restaurants this one also completely lacks in authenticity- As a Spanish person. The “tabla Ibérica” was extremely disappointing consisting of a few sad pieces of cheese and embutido. The jamón was cheap and low quality. With name (Iberico) you would expect better jamón - came completely drowned in olive oil. As a Spaniard never in my LIFE has jamón or cheese been served drenched in oil, it washed away any flavour and ruined the enjoyment of the dish. On the note of flavour also disappointed, dishes such as the Pollo al ajillo did not have a trace of garlic flavour and most of the tapas were extremely bland as well. The “croquetas” were not even croquetas just fried bland cheese balls. Only enjoyable thing was the pan tumaca. Would not recommend

We decided to try this lovely tapas restaurant on a busy Friday evening. We had a table in a booth and loved the decor especially the bull centrepiece! Our server Megan was friendly and efficient! My selection of tapas was absolutely perfect! It was also a fantastic price as we ordered before 5pm so had 3 dishes each for £18.95! We also added a dessert for £6. The only negative is that we don’t live in Edinburgh so we can’t return anytime soon. If we do come back we’ll definitely be paying another visit! Thanks all so much!

Had a lovely ‘pre theatre’ menu this evening. The food was absolutely delicious and great value for the 3 tapas deal. The asparagus with lemon hollandaise, the goats cheese, and the haddock were particular favourites. But I couldn’t fault any of the dishes we had. It’s a lovely atmosphere and really friendly staff. Special shout out for our waiter Jason who was really helpful and friendly (and patient coz we took ages to decide!). I would highly recommend and will definitely be back when I’m next in Edinburgh.

Our paella was phenomenal, I immediately had flashbacks to my time in Spain. All the servers helped each other out which allowed us to be served quite quickly but a tad disjointed. I will absolutely be going back!

Went there for lunch, music was a tad too loud for me. Service was good, nice waiters and low wait time. Overall the food was ok. The tajine was good, so was the tortilla, but the croquettas were very sub par.

Great spot for a feed, Staff are very nice, food is quite enjoyable.

Went here with a few friends, they all really enjoyed their meal however I just found the food to be very uninspiring. I think maybe ordered the wrong things for myself, but then again I’m ordering what I liked the sound of and didn’t enjoy it very much. My parents love this place though and they recommend the Black Pudding dish.

Brilliant food, super tasty! Went for tapas options, only slight let down www the Spanish omelette as slightly over cooked but overall the food was great! Slightly busy noisy atmosphere though as we there on Saturday evening so think I’d maybe prefer a table by the wall but that’s just my personal preference. Would visit again as there are so many more tapas options to try! Unfortunately ate all the food before remembering to take a photo!

El sitio es muy bonito y la gente amable pero la comida fatal, no tienen ni idea de comida española ni andaluza. La tortilla eran patatas cocidas con un poco de huevo, todo seco y quemado, el pollo al ajillo era pollo con una salsa ... no pedimos postre porque no nos atrevimos . Un desastre

All of the tapas plates were delicious- pork skewers, asparagus with manchego cheese and hollandaise sauce, scallops, fish, peppers. Sangria was delicious! Dessert was creme brulee and limoncello mousse!

We had a great visit to celebrate a family birthday. The music was a bit loud and jangly for a while, but it settled down later. Our table of seven was in a corner which we liked. Staff were efficient and friendly.

Thay trid serving as dishes we hadn't ordered this happened on three occasions then added these items to the build despite her so explaining we have not ordered them. Service was very chaotic.

Food and service were both absolutely lovely. No dish disappointed, and absolute loved the variety of flavours. Had very cozy seating and loved the ambience. Can’t wait to come back!

The best of the best. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. We loved the food, the deco, but the service , was wow, we were attended by Pine a very nice guy. We will return for sure, in our next time in Edinburg.

Does not allow dogs indoors. Lovely food though a little pricey (but average for in town prices). Staff very attentive but not very personable and if you go during early times it feels a bit like you are being rushed to free up your table for the next people. Very accommodating if you ha e preferred table

I had a wonderful birthday meal tonight. Food was outstanding. I would also like to say that Jason in a particular was a breath of fresh air. He went out his way to make my meal special and is clearly an asset to Cafe Andaluz.

I’ve been here a few times now, the sangria and tapas are always excellent! Service is always lovely. Shout out to Iason for being an amazing server last night despite what looked like a very full section. He elevated the mood of our entire table and was attentive and so friendly! I’ve been a server for years and have never seen such energy. Thanks again!

Love this place. Visited once in August 2023 and again during 2024 Fringe. It is a great venue with an authentic Spanish feel. Food was really good both times. 3 of us stuffed ourselves and the bill was £105 including drinks and tip which I think was great value for the whole experience. 9/10

I am really surprised the ratings are so high here. The food was very average, some of the worst tapas I have ever had. Everything was under seasoned, stale and the ingredients were cheap. I would not recommend and would not come again.

Lovely food and service on George IV Bridge. My husband had the sardines and chicken, plus a potato cream dish. I had the beautiful piquante peppers and salad, plus patatas bravas. Really lovely. Can we have more vegan dishes please as these were just lovely and I want to return to try more! Our waiter was so nice, it was a really pleasant meal out.

The food is tasty, but overpriced and portions are very small. Not the place to go if you are hungry. Also, butifarra negra looks more like haggis than the original catalan butifarra.

Always amazing food and wine, great service and even though we visited during the festival and it was incredibly busy, we didn’t feel rushed and food was absolutely fantastic- definitely recommend a visit!

It’s a large place with a lot of buzz . Friendly staff . Extensive menu . Most of the stuff is decent to good . Sadly the sangria and the seafood paella have zero bite . The sangria in fact was closer to disaster than mediocre . Cheap alcohol, no fruits and no taste . For a Spanish restaurant to mess up a Sangria is a crime .

We dropped in on a busy Saturday afternoon during the Festival. We were offered a table and from the start, the service was amazing. Special mention to the lovely Jason for being charismatic, welcoming, hilarious and just was such a fabulous addition to making our day out so special. The food was fabulous and the white sangria was a revelation. We'd go back in a second! Try be in Jason's section...😁

Delicious food, great service, even at such a busy time of year.

While the food tasted good, the service provided wasn’t what I would expect. When we first arrived the greeter was rude when we asked for a table for four. She asked if we had a reservation, we said no, but they said “we could have a table but only for an hour and 20 minutes then we need it back for a reservation” when the restaurant was seemingly at least only 50% full. I’ve never had a time limit on a table before, even where I live which is extremely touristy. Our server wasn’t very welcoming either - which maybe she was having a bad day but still. And while we only had the table for an hour and 20 minutes, it took 15 of those minutes to even get water.

This is a busy restaurant with a vast capacity across two floors. Staff are very attentive and the bar and cocktail list is good. Nice range of Spanish dishes on the menu. We had the paella for two which was nicely cooked and nicely presented but nothing special. Well worth a visit.

Great atmosphere. Dishes were overpriced for what you get. 3 meatballs for over £7 ? Service was great. Didnt have to wait too long for the food. Paella rice was undercooked.

Bravas were cooked 2 days ago. Terrible. Vegetables weren't fresh either. Lettuce seemed to be from 2 days ago (attached photos). Very disappointed with the quality of the products. Very expensive for a low quality product. The worst Spanish restaurant I have tried in my life.

Went today for lunch. Had a lovely friendly server. Restraunt obviously busy for the fringe. We were seated in a corner, our table was crammed in. I had to sit half off the seat to be in line with our table. Service initally was really quick but we sat for a long time waiting on someone coming near to clear the table or order more drinks/dessert. Most food was good however we ordred creamy garlic layered potatoes and the potatoes weren't cooked.

Fantastic staff amazing service especially Nathan & Ritesh. Every time I come in here with a large tour group Nathan and Ritesh always greet us with big smiles, the service is outstanding and the food is delicious. These two run a very efficient speedy service great team. Thank you Cafe Anduluz !

Cafe Andaluz although a chain restaurant has lovely food and is a goto place for me anytime. Brilliant tapas and the staff are always friendly, helpful and welcoming.

All excellent. Various tapas dishes plus Sangria in a quick visit. Hope to return soon for longer visit and to eat more!

Easily the best tapas in Edinburgh - the black pudding superb. But make sure you leave room for dessert (especially the semifredo)

Visited here last year during the fringe. I thought we would call again as we enjoyed it so much last time. This time we came during the fringe but we were also celebrating our Silver Wedding, food was delicious, sangria very much enjoyed and staff although busy were very friendly.

Lovely vibe and decor. Lively yet sophisticated! I especially loved the quality of ingredients and the availability of healthy whole-food options. Our waitress (South Asian lady with a long black braid) was sooo smiley and helpful. This is a great place to come if you have special dietary requirements too ❤️ P.S. sorry I started eating the food before taking the pic

This place serve French fries as patatas frittas . I think that that's shocking and very brittish

Very ,very busy and extremely noisy but it was festival time. Had patatas bravas which according to website is cubed potatoes but we're small potatoes cut in half and over cooked . Also had pan catalan. Nice piece of bread but the tomatoes were nearly liquified. These 2 items were disappointing but also had 2 other items which were very tasty. Overall 50/50 but may have been due to festival. Nice wines on offer

A lovely restaurant, great food and a lovely atmosphere.

The staff were really nice and the service was fast and efficient. However, the food was really disappointing. Of the 6 dishes we ordered, only one had any flavour. The rest were just really bland.

Several times we had to ask for drinks. There were some small challenges with too much and too little salt in some of our dishes.

Unfortunately, the food does not live up to the hype. I had missed out on this restaurant the last 4 trips. I read good reviews and was eager to dine here. The potatas bravas was the only good dish out of 8. The mushroom dip was also good but the restaurant doesn't provide bread without an extra charge so it was really not the best experience. I really wanted to love this place. But food is just not there. Sorry.

Not all typical Spanish Tappas options but a great variety for a great price, making it easier to try more (and good bang for you buck). The options were all delicious, really can't go wrong

Food was really bad - smelled like fresh out of the microwave. Not sure why a 4.4 here, but this is definitely not even a 3.0 in Spain. Service was very friendly though. Wine: tasteless.. :-(

I have been to this restaurant 3 times. It’s my favorite restaurant in Edinburgh. All the food is amazing and staff is friendly! One staff Jason left deep impression on me and my friends. He is always happy and keep smiling to everyone and warmheartedly help us solve problems. This restaurant is my top choice when dining out with my friends.👍👍👍

Loved visiting the Aberdeen branch of CA so when the daughter graduated we let her decide where she wanted to go and she wanted some tapas , service was exceptional as always , friendly staff with a professinal charm , the food was as usual tasty and varied andi found i really enjoyed the sangria that the girls ordered for the table , a great way to spend a relaxed evening in edinburgh

Nice that they have the tapas menu. Although many of the choices have an additional price which is detrimental. Internal decor seems traditional to the cuisine and service was prompt and pleasant.

Myself and 5 of my friends ate here and we all thought the food was stunning. We ordered multiple plates and everything was amazing and delicious. Found staff be be nice and service was fast.

Vibrant, great atmosphere.Service was good and waiter knowledgeable on dishes. Had tapas and the flavours were delicious.

We walked at 6:30 for dinner and were seated promptly and politely. The waitress was patient in aswering questions. We ordered 6 small plates, vegan for me, meats (no Pork) for my husband. The dishes were lovely and delicious. A party of 14 arived in the next room, so it became quite noisy, but we were finished with just enough room to walk back a block or two for Scotish homemade ice cream. Delicious.

Blown away by the delicious seafood paella and the grilled goat cheese with orange and chili marmalade. The flavors were exquisite and perfectly complemented each other. The ambiance was lovely and the service was top-notch. I highly recommend this restaurant for a flavorful and satisfying dining experience.

Nice decor and good staff. Toilets are downstairs - not sure if there is a lift. Paid street parking a short wall away.

If you are Spanish, don't go, I ordered Spanish tortilla and I thought it was a burnt souffle, in Spain what they put there is thrown away, the explanation that the waitress gave me about the burnt tortilla seemed a little surreal to me, the padrón peppers They are so big that they can be stuffed and the mushrooms, well they had a pass, they just looked like mushrooms to me, anyway, as I have read there, it is an insult to Spanish cuisine. Do not go!

Lively place for tapas. Good good , lots of it , served in succession. Good assortment. Good rioja wine. Thought the place was too loud for conversation, but it did have good vibes. Not the biggest fan of tapas but this place was very good and I would recommend.

Situated on George IV Bridge the back of the restaurant gives a lovely view of the surrounding environs and the atmosphere and decor invokes that of a quaint Sevillan tapas restaurant. The staff here was friendly, the prices fair and the food delicious, having tried myself the Patatas Bravas, the Albondigas, some Croquettas de Jamon y Queso and some churros. I will say the Croquettas did not taste exactly as they should, but overall still delicious. This is a great choice to eat out at in you’re in the city.
