Cafe 91 in Dumfries & Galloway

Waitress not very helpful regarding deluxe milkshake flavours, failed to mention all the different types(oreo,biscoff etc) we saw later when paying at the counter. Traybake dry, tasteless and awful cheap chocolate topping. £3.70 for a very small hot chocolate.

Lovely cafe on the main street through Lockerbie, the food was fresh and tasty, great service and reasonably priced, the only downside to 'Cafe 91' is their toilets, they could certainly do with a re-vamp, no hot water and the hand dryer was a waste of time, but this won't stop us from visiting the cafe in the future

Great little local cafe with great community feel. Excellent choice on menu. We visited for breakfast. Bacon rolls were delicious along with a big mug of milky coffee. Service excellent and prices very good. Highly recommend if passing Lockerbie or looking for a stop off the motorway.

The food is good simple fayre . Nothing fancy but all fresh and tasty. Staff are mostly friendly and helpful and the toilets are clean if in need of a freshen up. But the decor?!! Whoever was in charge of the redecorating should be ashamed of themselves. As can be seen in some of the photos, the rich red walls and warm welcoming colours have been replaced with soviet grey and silver wallpaper, drab furnishings and cold LED lighting. It couldn’t be more unwelcoming on a cold autumn day if it tried. Relatively cheap and convenient is as far as I can enthuse!

Stopped here on a trip to Glasgow, hoping to find enough to eat at around 2pm that would keep us going for the rest of the day - it was a good choice. Clean and light, with nice curved seating along the wall, it makes a decent first impression. I had the Big Breakfast, which was tasty, full of loads of different elements (e.g. tattie scones, haggis) and with no oil left on the empty plate when I'd finished. My partner equally enjoyed a ham and mushroom omelette with chips and peas. Good coffee too - nice and hot. The staff were helpful and friendly, and it's now certainly on our list as a great place to stop on the Carlisle-Glasgow route.

Popped in for a Saturday lunch. The place was packed. The staff were ran of their feet but the server let us know she would be with us soon and couldn’t have been more apologetic. We did want to have some cakes but nobody came back to clear the table despite it quieting down. Food was tasty.

Had macaroni and chips When they took the macaroni out of the tin they should have warned it up the chips where more fat than potato. Did not risk eating just payed and left no tip.

Don’t understand the negative comment about the staff we found them to be very friendly nothing to much trouble. The breakfast was just what we needed nice and hot and great prompt service. Well done everyone involved.

Disgusting customer service by one of the young girls that work here had an altercation with staff , she was really rude staring at just our family the whole time whilst paying the first bill she just held the card machine to us not a single word spoken , so i asked how much it was she said “19” … 19 what ?? The attitude was vile i said is that your customer service with every one , “yeh it is and what, it wasnt even your bill so whats your problem” , the food was undercooked the chips were pale , my sisters who both had panini meals are now ill , expensive for absolutely disgusting greasy food the childrens chicken nuggets were undercooked and soaked with grease so much it squeezed on to the plate the toilets were vile and the smell was horrible.

This was one of the best breakfasts we have had in a long time!! It was really hot, cooked perfectly and delicious! Staff very friendly and dogs allowed which is a plus for us!

Would give 6 stars if I could, stopped off motorway on way up to Scotland, found this gem of a place.massive breakfast, freshly cooked, piping hot tea served in china cups. Porridge was Devine, best I’ve ever had served with cream ,yummy. Give this superb cafe a visit you won’t be disappointed.

Biggest breakfast ever attempted! The warm welcome and friendly staff made this an essential visit. The food was tremendous and excellent value. I'm not normally beaten by a meal bit I had to take a doggie bag away with us.

We popped in for lunch on a Sunday afternoon the cafe was fairly quiet, we sat down and looked at the menu the young girl that took our order didn’t actually speak to us. We waited a long time for the first meal to come to the table then waited further 10 minutes for the second meal to arrive both meals should arrive at the same time! One meal was supposed to come with toast and it didn’t appear. All the staff were very young and very rude. There was no can I get you anything else, no one checked that the meals were okay. When we have been in the past the staff have been lovely and attentive. The staff that were working on this day need some serious training in customer service.

Really disappointed. Visited here a few times and service and food has been lovely. Today we ordered drinks, 2 soups, a ham salad roll and a ham and cheese sandwich. We got our drinks and after 45 minutes we still hadn't received our food. I went to pay for what we had and the staff member apologised but no explanation why we didn't receive our food. I'm sorry to say we won't be back.

Just had tea and scones, must say they were up there with the nicest we've ever had. Bank Holiday Monday and Lockerbie was very quiet but the cafe was a constant flow of customers.

Terrible customer service, left after 30 minutes still didn’t get an order taken. The cafe was busy but nobody even acknowledged our presence or spoke to us.

Went here for a light bite, ended up with a big breakfast! Under £10 including tea and toast. Couldn't fault it, it was the best breakfast I've ever had in a cafe and my hubby agrees. Food was plentiful, cooked well and hot. Staff were polite and friendly. I couldn't eat it all so took my sausages home in a takeaway box provided by the very helpful staff. Will definitely be back soon.

We broke our journey from Edinburgh to Bowness on Windermere here, just as we did 20 years ago. This time, the pub was closed and there was bo Sunday roast as it was bit a Sunday. Cafe 91 had good reviews and I am glad to say it did not disappoint. I had the full breakfast while the missus ordered the steak pie with salad. The food was good and service was even better.

I found this a lovely cafe with welcoming staff, good food and table service! If I had been to the Ladies toilet before my meal I would not have eaten here. The toilet door did not fit and would not shut, the door was in dirty and scratched condition and each corner of toilet and washbasin floor were black and dirty. If only this was as welcoming as the rest of the cafe! Such a shame!

This is mine and my wife’s go to café when we are travelling back down to Leicester from Scotland. We know that we are going to stop off here after a couple of hours on the road so don’t have breakfast before we depart from wherever we are staying. It’s such a short detour off the A74 (M) to get an amazing breakfast with plenty of parking nearby. The café is always immaculate with tables cleared and cleaned as soon as they are vacated. The staff are lovely and the food always hot and tasty. They have an extensive menu of great value dishes, but we always plump for the breakfasts. You really can’t go wrong paying £17 for a huge breakfast, Vegan breakfast, bread and butter and tea for two, with the food being perfect and service first rate.

Café 91 is a lovely, bright café in Lockerbie. We found a table and were greeted by a smiling, friendly waitress. An all day breakfast and a Panini and side salad were ordered, both with coffee. The breakfast was absolutely amazing. My son enjoyed every piece of it along with a large mocha. I thoroughly enjoyed my panini. Also the side salad was a lovely assortment, not just a lettuce leaf and tomato which I've had in other places! There is a super menu with such a wide variety of eats to choose from. Worth visiting and I'm sure you'll want to return. I've been 4 times now and have had wonderful welcome, service and meals. Well done café 91.

Arrived in Lockerbie about 10.30 so popped in for coffee and tea noted prices were very reasonable pleasant staff coffee was lovely tasty treacle scone and toasted tea cake after shopping we didn't have a lot of time so popped in for a quick lunch only had time for soup and crusty bread reason for four stars and not five the lentil soup was far to salty and the chicken and rice had peppers in it which made it sweet noted other meals going out which looked fab and large portions would return if back in area but not for soup when paying Bill noted they had some nice cakes

This little restaurant / cafe has a great menu ( does an excellent eggs benedict) and this was the second time we visited and we were not disappointed. Coffee excellent too. Nice decor and some seating outside, perfect for people watching in the sunshine ( yes we had an excellent summer!) swift and efficient service from friendly helpful staff and we would definitely return.

A simple cafe in a small town - nothing special. The staff are friendly and there is a fairly long menu, but the decor is basic and dated. The food was tasty, but once again fairly basic. Nothing to write home about, but a simple option for a quick bite.

My friend had the big breakfast. It lived up to its name. WOW it nearly defeated him, well he did leave a little I have never seen such a big plate, full of really well cooked food.. Will definitely be back but need to go on a diet for a few days before.

We stopped at cafe 91 on our way to Glasgow prestwick for breakfast .located near the police station and tesco it's very easy to find but located on a busy high street not much on street parking we parked in tesco as we had popped in there as well for toilets and shopping .The full breakfast was great just what was needed after driving for hours from county durham came with toast and a cuppa in a mug and I thoroughly enjoyed it even if couldn't finish only complaint fried egg too well done for my liking but the fried bread made up for it brought back memories of my dad only person I've known that could make lush fried bread normally limp and soggy this was lovely and crispy would definitely call again sadly our return journey was a Sunday and was closed or would of called again

Stopped here one morning on our way down south after checking with Tripadvisor on where to have coffee in Lockerbie. It was very busy when we were there with numerous people having breakfast. The staff were extremely pleasant and it was good value for money. As we only had coffee and cake (which was good), cannot really comment on quality of cooked food but it certainly seemed to be very popular.

We called in here on recommendation from a young man that was looking after the National Trust Thomas Carlyle Birthplace. Very happy staff and very comfortable seating. A great choice menu. It was a hot day ! My husband had ploughman’s lunch. It was fabulous... various cheeses pickle bread various salads pork pie all beautifully presented. He thoroughly enjoyed eating it all. I had egg mayo salad and crisps. Lovely . We cannot fault this cafe and we would return without doubt if up north again .

It is a while since we ate here and were not disappointed with this visit. I was very good value for money and the food was good.
