Food arrived hot and fresh, despite ordering from one town over. This is how delivery is supposed to work, puts other places to shame.

Fabulous breakfast bap, lovely staff, good music and good coffee.

They don't have a huge selection but what they do have is freshly cooked and tasty .most of the menu is gluten free so is good for people with celic .the staff are really friendly.

Super tasty burgers and fries. Great atmosphere. Don't go here on a diet or if you're watching your cholesterol, cause you'll just watch it hit the stratosphere. But your last thought before you black out will be how delicious that burger is. Also, get the Jack and Blue. You'll thank me.

food was amazing. great burgers and loaded fries but just eat took over an hour and a half to pickup the food however cafe 77 gave us free cookies and drinks for the wait. amazing place

Cafe 77 had a stall at Goatfest. I waited 15 minutes for a cold burger, which was supposed to be freshly cooked and clearly was reheated, with unmelted cheese. I took a bite and gave it straight back. Dreaddful! I was one of many with the same issue.and asked for money back. Thank-you for the response. Unfortunately not. The burger was clearly not cooked to order, otherwise it wouldn't have been cold. The only thing that could be offered, like many others, was a refund.

burgers always great, but the skin-on fries seemed to be just normal unsalted fries this time, which was a little disappointing as they're usually lovely. also since they started bagging the fries instead of delivering them in the cardboard containers they used to do a while back, the fries seem to sweat more so lose their crunchy edges (though still better than many).

Went to Cafe 77 before a night shift. Perfect staff. Served by Nate, Emma and Chloe. The food is fantastic and the coffee will satisfy any coffee lover. Many thanks.

Visited cafe 77 while staying in Hitchin for work. I ordered the cheeseburger with skin in fries and I have to admit it’s the tastiest burger I’ve had in a longtime freshly made and piping hot. Next time I’m down I’ll definitely be paying them a visit.

Staff and food is so good probably the best in hitchin town centre. The person who took my order was friendly and efficient. We will be back

took an hour and a half to get my food! not sure if it the restaurant or delivery guy at fault but just terrible service.

I used to love it here because the meat was really good quality, unfortunately this time it was very disappointing. The bacon was dry and chewy, the egg wasn't runny at all and the sausage patty is a bit strange it's seasoned nicely but is quite dry and not sure on the quality there. The staff and atmosphere are lovely though, so maybe just avoid breakfast time.

Have just enjoyed lunch here and took advantage of the lunchtime £10 deal. The food was superb, probably the nicest burger bun I've ever tried. Fantastic, friendly service. Will definitely visit again.

Stopped at Cafe 77 by chance as was making my way back to work in Essex on an early morning run Served by very friendly guy, Latte was excellent and I really recommend the Maple flapjack. Bit of a shame I didn’t have time to sample any of the hot food as the menu looks very tempting :)

I go to ‘77 in Hitchin on a regular basis. So feel I am well placed to post a review. Firstly, nothing is too much trouble for the ‘front of house staff’. I drink a lot of decaf latte and the skill and care James puts into each cup is reflected in the taste. I have tried a number of items on the menu, and they are all good and well prepared, but the burger is my personal favourite, they are always moist, a decent size and a great taste. #highlyrecommended

This has becomd a firm favourite place for my father. Having recently moved to the area, he enjoys a good cafe meal and of all those in hitchin this is his favourite by far. From taste, menu, great friendly service and excellent coffee. He just wishes they were open every morning.

Great place for breakfast. They take their coffee seriously and you can tell by the taste. Bacon and sausage patties are both very good. Small place but enough space to seat about 14 or so. Staff are helpful and knowledgeable

Food (burgers, breakfast & chips) were amazing for me and the family. Good portions, freshly cooked. On top, Dom, was exceptional with his customer service. Super friendly, even with our 3 yr old who insisted on singing.

I think I’ve tried most things at Cafe77 as I absolutely love their food My go to is cheese burger and waffle fries 😍😋 Sunday I switched it up a bit and had their chilli cheese toastie, WOW absolutely loved it! It’s one of my wife’s go to but I had never tried it! The taste was amazing and the temperature was perfect which is not the case with most toasties I have found another favourite 😋

An hour for 1 burger delivered an hour after ordering. £17. You tell me.

Best burger in Hitchin. We’re spoilt for choice if you fancy a burger in Hitchin, but Cafe77 wins my vote every time. The breakfast’s delish, the cheeseburger is my fave and throw in some tots and my night is made!

Update: Got a rather unprofessional response in under 24 hours, surprisingly quick for this establishment. It appears I have been labelled the Grinch of Small Businesses this festive season despite leaving glowing reviews for most places (who are deserving of it). It’s as they say; “if you can’t handle the heat, get out of the kitchen”. Sounds like great advice for these people! As for my Christmas, it was fantastic and I ate much better food in much better company for my Christmas dinner! I hope a wee bit of criticism didn’t ruin their New Years as much as they act like it did. I wonder if there’s a lack of negative reviews because of their guilt-tripping responses to them? Doesn’t work on me unfortunately. Ps. Happy New Year! This place wouldn't survive up North. Extortionate prices, clammy, claustrophobic, gimmicky and an absolute rip-off. So much so, I'm going to break down the review per star: 'Food' (Prison food and served on a metal tray like it): Would be impressive if it was served after WW2 rationing. Bland, tiny portions, bland, overpriced slop, bland. I would've felt more satisfied throwing £10 at a sea otter clapping than eating this '''food''' for free. But apparently, this place makes the locals of Hitchin clap like sea otters, so good for them I suppose. But the food wasn't free, it was priced unreasonably. ''Service'' (Not worth a quip): This place is a hack, hence the 'wouldn't survive up North' comment. I think the wealthy locals of Hitchin may perceive this place to be 'rustic', 'American inspired', a 'wholesome independent business and a great eatery for the whole family (but mostly the palate-less children) to enjoy. I do not see this place from that angle. Cheap food sold at an insane mark-up. You can get the same quality hot dog from Costco for 4x less with a refillable drink to boot. Service wise, the server's idea of 'cleaning a table' (when she got round to it) was brushing other people's crumbs and table juice onto you instead of away from you. Not to mention the bloke seems to have a penchant for spilling the pricy drinks. '''Atmosphere''' (of a NASA space-shuttle that's malfunctioning): Did I say claustrophobic? Credit to the people who run this joint, they can't help the size of the building of course. But who's bright idea was it to put a ''restaurant'' in a hobbit hole? It had potential for a lovely little bookstore. But no, it's a sweaty, greasy, dark, damp, murky burger shop. I do hope that deep in the owner's greedy, money grabbing, dark soul that they derive a bit of humour out of this review. But I have essentially called their baby ugly for about 1-2 reading minutes. So they can take it as they please. But if it wasn't obvious already, I won't be returning. TLDR; No, I didn't like this place. Bit of a ripoff innit.

The Jack and Blue burger will change your life.

My first ever experience of this place was a Breakfast Tray delivered to my office just before Christmas. £9.90 I paid (!) (there were also breakfast rolls at the same price delivered - they didn’t look great either) I was very underwhelmed indeed…. People have been raving to me about this place… why? ? See my photo… not great value for money, overcooked, and all very dry with no beans or anything similar to “wet it up”.

I love Cafe77, best burgers in Hitchin I think. They do simple, classic smashed burgers amazingly well - So nice! I love the fact their menu isn’t over complicated. Have ordered countless times and have never been disappointed at all. Cheers

Amazing food, stumbled across this small restaurant by chance and really wasnt disappointed. Burger was so tasty and juicey, pulled pork fries were incredible. Best pulled pork I have had for years! As good as Reds True BBQ chain quakity and taste wise. Manager was really welcoming, polite and knowledgeable. Top restaurant A+ and will recommend to all our friends.

Found out about the shop from a work colleague. The burger was yummy. Bun fresh and had a good meaty taste. Just as for garnis, like gherkins, tomatoes and lettuce.

Really good burgers in a brioche bun and great fries. Really good service in a small cafe with outside seating. The burgers really are excellent. Good choice of drinks as well and the breakfast and brunch options look good too. Does takeaways as well. Can highly recommend.

Unfortunately the food didn't live up to the high hopes I had of Cafe 77, hence the review. One burger was squashed. BBQ sauce was missing. Loaded cheesy fries arrived in a clump because it was literally just barely melted cheese stuck on top of some bog standard fries. £10.50 for a hot dog is literally daylight robbery for what it was. Food was lukewarm. HATE leaving a negative review but so disappointed.

I first tried this place at this year's Street Food Awards and remember being blown away by the flavour of the food. So much so that they had my vote as the best of the (many) institutions I tried that day. They ended that particular event being rewarded with the well deserved Best Burger title. Having realised that the restaurant itself isn't too far from me, I felt obliged to visit and try out the rest of their menu. Expectations can be a tricky thing but thankfully I was not disappointed! The quality of the ingredients and the care with which they are prepared is extremely evident with every bite. Lovely juicy patties with a crispy exterior. Fantastically flavourful quality meat that is seasoned perfectly to my taste, satisfyingly toasted and airy bun that still has enough structure to stand up to the gloriously juicy burgers. Beautifully judged sauces. The basics are all you need in a great burger and they are all done exceptionally here. Personally I would stick with the normal double cheeseburger. There are other options but the toppings can overpower the delicate flavours of the burger and you really don't need to. For instance in the Jack&Blue burger - the blue cheese added a lovely punch but the caramelised onions were a bit sickly sweet. Same goes with the BBQ sauce in the pulled pork burger. I mean, if you've got a great steak, why cover it in salad cream right? It is of course personal preference but for me the plain old classic double cheeseburger is the perfect option. Last mention goes to the waffle fries which were soooo good! Delightfully crispy crust, with an inside of pillow like fluffiness. They were fantastically moreish and cooked to perfection. Probably a top 10 burger for me. 👍🏽

Nice little cafe close to the city centre that you can enjoy good burgers. Freshly made food with vibrant flavours and lots of sauces to choose from. There are a few burger options to choose from and I went for the one with blue cheese and it was amazing. I didn’t know about waffle fries and I am a big fan now. For people with big appetite like me I would suggest to go for double patty. Overall well worth the visit and planning to visit again.

This was a first time experience of Cafe 77 and I was left somewhat confused. First things first, it is expensive, but I am happy to pay for good food that is made with care. The bacon cheese burger met that description perfectly. Excellent burger, good taste and traveled surprisingly well. The fries were also excellent. Still hot and well cooked. The hot dog, ordered by my wife was however a disaster. Tasteless ‘dog’ lost in a big white roll. Genuinely awful and went in the bin. The difference in quality between the two products was genuinely confusing. At £40 for the food (including delivery and tip) it proved a very, very expensive take away for one. I would nip in for a burger again if passing, but afraid would not risk delivery again on such expensive food given the inconsistency.

Food is fantastic produce ,cooked the way you like it ,best breakfast in Hertfordshire by a mile ,staff always friendly and bubbly which is rare nowadays, we eat here myself and wife most Sundays and take our dog olive top place
