Lovely little Biker Cafe. Great food, service, parking and atmosphere... if that's not enough there's a big biker-gear shop attached for all your biking needs... They claim they will match any better price you can find on clothing elsewhere. Would have given 5 stars if it weren't for the cafe prices.... ouch!!

Pleasantly surprised as to how nice the food was. Tried to get a pasty but they had sold out, it was late, so they offered a sausage roll. When it turned up shortly it had a delicious side salad with it. Fresh and crunchy. Also staff were very friendly and polite. All in all 10/10.

One of Alphington's few places to eat at, which is shared with a motorcycle shop. I usually come over for a mint tea, but I also like trying out a piece of a different cake or other pudding bake each time I come. Lovely decor and setting however the server was a little brash and of you didn't get what she said the first time she will shout at you, I experienced it as I I saw another 2 people did, very grumpy attitude!!! Unfortunately the breakfast seemingly seemed to all be cooked in the same pan so there was a generic grill flavour throughout everything I ate, the egg was black with what i can only assume came off the sausages? not great so Unfortunately overall will not be going back

Went in with a friend for a breakfast. Great range of cakes. Breakfast was reasonable not absolutely too quality. Sausages were average. Bacon average. Beans, toast and tomato were very good. Had the larger breakfast which was inclusive of filter coffee. This coffee has a slightly overburnt flavour as with filter coffee when it's been sat for a while. The espresso with a bit of water after this had a similar flavour, coffee is a dark roast. Staff were helpful and friendly. Service was swift. Plenty of people in there. Recommended 👍

Great value and excellent flavours. Not the cheapest, but the big breakfast is made with noticeably better quality ingredients than the average cafe: sausages are meaty, bacon thick and with flavour, eggs had rich yolks, and quality bread for the toast. Even the tea (included) came with the bag in and milk separate so I could have it how I wanted it. Well worth a tenner! Thoroughly recommended.

The staff really don't want to make contact, they seem really miserable and unfriendly. Not a single happy smiley face. Went there Tuesday 24th and Friday 27th October. Tuesday's sarnies were good. No where to sit because tables weren't being cleared, so went outside. Friday had coffee cake and it was very dry, sticking in your mouth dry. Left half of it as it was hard work. A guy near us had soup in a coffee cup that looked disgusting! Wanted to try the place but think I will stick to Union Road Moto-velo in Crediton. Can't fault the cake there. Yours disappointed.

You don’t have to have a bike to eat here! We have been having breakfast here since Cafe 53 first opened as run a dance class at the Alphington Village Hall every week and living in Heavitree it can take sometime to get across the city. So we leave early and enjoy a lovely breakfast being, although just beans on toast for one of us, and for me a well done bacon bap. Denise has really made this a great place to eat and drink and she has done an amazing job in building a brilliant team behind her and a beautiful cafe worthy of 5* Service is always brilliant with all the staff making sure they put the customer first. We would highly recommend Cafe 53 for a great meal and have a look at the bikes as well!

Came back to Cafe 53 after a year with my family. With four staff working at 10 am I was saddened that I had to make people aware that we were there, as it actually made the Marie Celeste look busy,,and we did want to purchase some food. On the plus side the food and coffee arrived and the bacon Sarni was banging. Thanks Emily for the scrambled eggs they were perfect.

Cafe 53 is a good café with great food. The staff work hard but unfortunately after today I won't go back, despite normally visiting regularly. I ordered a bacon sandwich and, after 45 minutes of no show,I went to ask if it was on the way. Without checking, the manageress actually shoved the short staffed sign in my face. I had to point out that I wasn't complaining, merely asking if the order had been forgotten? As it was, they had forgotten the order. Fair enough, it happens and that's not a problem. Having a sign shoved in your face when you're making a polite query is a problem, however. It's rude and unnecessary, particularly as if i hadn't checked, i wouldn't have got any food. The rest of the staff were really good and tried to resolve things promptly. It's just such a shame they were let down by the incredible rudeness of their manageress.

First off the food I had was very nice. But if you order a large breakfast I don't expect to pay extra for a cup of tea and be asked if I want Mushrooms and black pudding as a additional cost. We visit Cafe 53 every week before our dance class at Alphington Village Hall and thought it was time we wrote the Cafe a review. We always have our breakfast here and De use and the team always serve it just as we like it, we are quite fussy! The food is always cooked fresh and nice and hot. The cafe is always busy and now with the increased sweating area it is lovely to sit outside and enjoy the lovely sunshine whilst enjoying the lovely food. We would highly recommend Cafe 53 as a great place to eat whatever the time of day.

This is a pretty popular cafe at the side of Bridge Motorcycles. The road outside can be quite busy, so there can be quite a bit of noise and exhaust from cars depending on when you visit. The outside deck is currently being extended so there will be a lot more outside space available shortly. It's nicely decorated inside with lots of wood and motor cycle number plates. I would say that the inside seating isn't particularly comfortable (low 'school' metal/wood chairs) so you might want to sit on the bar chairs or outside of your back isn't great. Food and drink .. especially the cakes, are great as there is always GF selection available.

It's probably best they should advertise themselves as a coffee bar not a cafe because we went in at 3:45 now in the place close at 6 p.m. to be told that they weren't doing any hot food. We have given this place to stars because we were unable to actually give a review for the food and service because it wasn't on offer. Why do establishments do this start clearing up and stop doing food long before they close question mark it just smacks of laziness

I discovered this place when the nearby supermarket cafe was closed and haven't looked back since. It is part of a motorcycle dealership, having been set up originally to give customers somewhere to have a coffee and bacon sandwich while waiting for their bike to be serviced. Over time word has got around and its reputation has spread, so that now the majority of customers are not bikers. In fact it has a wonderfully diverse clientele, with local residents; bikers; tradesmen and commuters all enjoying great food together. This mix of customers really does add to the atmosphere, which is always welcoming and laid-back. The menu is classic cafe with an emphasis on breakfast as well as coffee & cake. There are various permutations of breakfast (small or large English, bacon/sausage sandwich, bap or baguette, pancakes) all of which use very high quality ingredients. Their butchery supplier deserves a medal as the sausages and bacon are always delightful, the latter wonderfully smoked. The selection of cakes is outstanding, with an utterly addictive range of cakes, slices and strange chocolatey things that almost break your fork but taste sublime. I challenge anyone to find a better carrot cake; orange, lemon & lime cake or honeycomb lush square. They are generous portions and always fresh, on the basis they sell out so quickly and aren't standing around for long. The coffee is good quality and consistent. On a few occasions I've eaten lunch and the burgers are something else. A double cheeseburger here is like the best dirty burger crossed with a Findus quarter pounder from the 1980s. If you are hungry, order the potato wedges that are monolith-like slabs of seasoned potato, pre-cooked to within an inch of their life so they are fluffy & soft inside but crispy on the outside. Don't expect posh presentation, just great food. Everything is cooked to order and this can lead to a wait because everything is prepared on a single grill plate that is not much bigger than a tea tray. How the staff manage to do this all day, every day, I know not and they deserve credit for managing a constant stream of orders. All the team - Ang, Dee, Cath, Emily, Lily - are friendly and hard-working. When it's busy you may have to wait a while for your food and some other reviewers have been critical of this. When you can see that somewhere is busy and the staff are flat out, you should be prepared to wait a little longer. If there is a wait, you'll be told when you order and if you are in that much of a rush, you are probably in the wrong establishment. The prices are reasonable, certainly not excessive, and with the very high quality ingredients and the pleasant environment, combine to create a great place to eat. Highly recommended.

Last Thursday we went to cafe 53. We have heard a lot of good things about it. But unfortunately, our experience wasn't good. I had a coffee and my husband had a coke, we also ordered a bacon sandwich. After 20 minutes, we asked the young lady how long we would have to wait, and she said rather bluntly that it was coming. After 30 minutes, the lady that was dealing with the food ordereds came out with an order for another couple who came in after us, so we asked if she had forgotten the bacon sandwich since we had been waiting half an hour. She replied 'i don't think it's been 30 minutes' however it showed on our receipt that we had, in fact, been waiting that long. After another 5 minutes our sandwich finally appeared. Since we live quite close, it would have been quicker for us to go home, make a bacon sandwich and come back. If they were busy we would understand, but since they were quite quiet 35 minutes for a bacon sandwich is not acceptable. We also found that the employees customer service skills were lacking.
