Overall food was decent, service from cafe staff was great on the other hand the atmosphere felt hostile as the security team was being unprofessional and disrespectful, the short guard Abdul made me feel unwanted and hated as I was with my Bangladeshi colleague and she was wearing a scarf as she was Muslim, the attitude he showed was unbelievable as he came from a Bangladeshi background also, this was a bad experience for me and my colleague and made us feel as though The Salvation Army was not a welcoming place for all backgrounds and ethnicities

This place is clean, reasonably priced and convenient to both St Paul’s and The Tate Modern (just across the bridge). Met a friend after 2pm and had a small bowl of Mulligatawny soup for £2.75. We'd been on a walking tour of blitz sights, the walk finished beside St Paul's and the guide recommended various places for lunch, including here, the Salvation Army café. Several of us went there and it was excellent - clean, lots of space, tables available, a good choice of food and very reasonable prices. My wife drinks decaf coffee and said that it was excellent here, far better than Prêt. Highly recommended.

We have returned to London on a couple of occasions just to continue exploring the infinite number of historic sites. On each visit we make sure we plan our day so that we are only a short tube trip from the Salvation Army HQ. The Cafe 101 sits in the basement but still has some natural light feeding through. It is clean and very spacious with a very relaxed atmosphere. And it is cheap, for London. The staff obviously have been trained in the Salvation Army ethos as they genuinely seem happy to be there and to serve you. There are downsides of course. As it is in the office block you must go through a bag search. The menu is very limited, more or less a cafeteria in the old style. But we always found good food to eat. If you have a business lunch and want to impress then this is not the place. But for a tourist walking around London, tired and needing a break from the busyness around you then this is a great spot to get away from it all for lunch.

We were walking across from St Pauls to the Globe Theatre and spotted this place, which appears to be in the basement of the Salvation Army HQ. It's basically their staff canteen, and open to the public. Lots of uniformed officers were getting their lunch when we were there. We really enjoyed our soup and salad lunches, with great bread. Now we can tell all our friends about having lunch at the Salvation Army while we were in London.

We were very close to the closing time but we were given a warm welcome and did not feel hurried. Cafe 101 was very clean and well decorated. Although we had only lovely tea and cakes, the quality of the other food on offer looked wonderful. Fruit was beautifully presented too. Best of all was the calm and serenity of the surroundings. We wanted to stay but we were down for tourist stuff so we reluctantly rejoined the rat race outside. Unsurprisingly, we felt well refreshed.

Cafe 101 is perfectly located between the Tate Modern and St Paul's Cathedral at the North side of the Thames. The Cafe is clean, spacious and airy and can be accessed by stairs or lift from the entrance level. It opens early enough for us commuters to get our daily coffee fix and serves main meals, sandwiches, paninis, salads and snacks throughout the day, both eat-in and take-away. There is a different menu every day for main meals, and is always a vegetarian options. One other review has mentioned paper cups and plates, but this must have been on a busy day as I normally have proper cups and plates. The seating is also good - with choice of small comfy chairs and tables, small round tables or long tables for larger groups. I have seen people having business meetings, as well as families visiting, so it caters for a whole range of people. Staff are very friendly. Wifi is also available.

I was not confident of finding a good place for a cheap lunch near the City of London, but came across Café 101 as I passed the Salvation Army building on north side of Millennium Bridge. One look at the large open-plan eating area and the menu persuaded me. The choice of lunches is very small, though the range of salads in serve-yourself mode is very good, but in terms of VFM this was as good as it gets. Wifi included! This is not the place for a romantic tête-à-tête, but if you are on a budget and want a relaxing lunch it would be hard to beat this place.

DISAPPOINTED…..! AWFUL EXPERIENCE… I WANT MY REFUND! I went to MONKEY 47 Gin experience yesterday on 13th September just to be relaxed and have some new experiences. Obviously I have had no idea about their gin cocktails. When I asked to the stuff they had no idea what’s on the menu. 3 people came and can’t explain what’s good or what I’ll have experience from their gin. The service was awful. I have waited too long. I ordered some canapés on the top of the fish. And they’re one of gin cocktails. The canapé came and ℹ finished all after 20 min. My drink came. It was seriously unpleasant. I said I want to get a bill and not drink any cocktails, I just want to go… *** They pretty much know I WAS NOT HAPPY WITH ANYTHING. THEY CHARGE ME £11.25 for 3 little slices of canapés and they took the service charge as well… AFTER I PAID one of the Chinese or Japanese girl SHOWED ME THE DOOR. I WANT MY REFUND!

It seems to be a black tea inspired by Japanese tea and Japanese culture. As the title of the store suggests, the packaging is designed to look like a postcard and is stylish.
