Winter day in November. Restaurant very cold. Radiators not operating. Only apparent menu pinned to wall at servery with very small print.and difficult to read. Cheese and chutney toastie. white cheap bread, tasteless cheese, chutney very nice.,diced salad fresh but placed on plate with bare hands, four Pringles. Come on! You could do better than that . Menus on tables with request to order at counter. Decent bread from a baker - wholemeal, sourdough, seeded or anything else. Choice of brown.or white cut a bit thicker to look better. Invest in a reasonable cheddar. Chunkier salad - perhaps a bit of fruit in it - grapes, blueberries orange. Make it a bit different. Crisps - crinkle cut? -would look better than four stacked Pringles. Think about it. Above all, heat the place and if the system is broken tell people and apologise -they will understand.

We are not local and have not been here for a few years but our days out are usually around the Borders area so we decided to come to Caberston for coffee. We had always been seated outside previously when we had the dog and the service was excellent. Good to see this is still the case. The choice on the munu is very good, my partner is a great fan of cheese scones and the Caberston cheese scone went straight to the top of his list. The choice of cakes was very good and I thoroughly enjoyed the coffee cake. We're getting on a bit now but as long as as my partner is able to drive we will definitely be back. Helpful friendly staff and great food, what's not to like.

Passing through, and stopped for a coffee in exchange for 'using the facilities' Such a great discovery. Plenty of parking. Courtyard area with outside seating, so fine to take the dog. Place was busy which was great to see. Unfortunately not as pleasant a visit as our original. On entering the cafe we stood with no welcome or eye contact whatsoever. We actually discussed leaving. Eventually the lady looked at us with her notepad up and ready, I assumed I was just to start ordering food but she didn't even say hello. Food was ok. Soup, cake and coffee really good but tense atmosphere and customer service was non existent. Even when we stood up to leave, another waitress failed to ask how our meal was or thank us/say goodbye. Generally a let down.

My wife and I eat at this place fairly often. Today as usual, the food was excellent. We both had the roasted red pepper soup and a sandwich combination. My concern is, that the blonde lady, who was preparing our sandwiches, cleaned her hands on a cloth, then wiped them on her apron and then carried on with preparing our food. With the current coronavirus situation, this was highly unsuitable. The hygiene needs to be sorted out in this cafe.

Stopped here on our way home from Peebles on a Saturday morning. Ordered coffee and breakfast rolls (with an extra filling). Order taken quickly and arrived after a short wait. I had bacon & haggis roll and it was perfectly cooked as I asked for the bacon crispy. Really tasty - best haggis I’ve had for ages! Hubby had sausage & tattie scone and enjoyed every bite! Cost just over £11 for 2 double breakfast rolls and 2 coffees, very reasonably priced. Only a couple of small negatives - the size of the coffee cup - tiny! (Next time he’ll ask for a mug). Secondly, it wasn’t very warm inside as we sat with our jackets on so didn’t stay very long. They also allow well behaved dogs (front part of the coffee shop) which is a huge bonus if you’re enjoying the local hillwalking. Toilets spotlessly clean. Plenty off road free parking too. Would recommend and we will visit again for sure.

Been coming down to this cafe more or less since it opened. A fab little place that looks not much from outside but inside you get a surprise. The food is great & reasonably priced. The staff are friendly & welcoming & nothing is ever too much bother. Ive seen it change hands a couple of times over the past few years & think the recent new owner is doing a fantastic job. Im shocked at a few of the negative reviews on here recently, especially the one about the soup & sour faced woman. I have the soup on most occasions (delicious lentil) & know it is still being 'home made' by Raymond (the last cafe owner) so no change there. As for the 'sour faced woman' comment, the only sour face i ever saw in there was the old woman, whos worked there for years. Have sat within earshot while shes gossiped to people about the staff & customers. I believe shes retired now. Bad reviews - Good reviews, Still worth popping in yourself to find out

I love this cafe. I cycle there from my home in Peebles to enjoy a large mug of coffee (Earl Grey tea in the afternoon) and a superb scone - I used to choose the fruit one but have now found how delicious the cheese ones are as well so it's cheese in the morning and fruit if I am there in the afternoon. I've also been there for lunch with a group of walking friends. A choice of two homemade soups is available every day. There's plenty of space for groups and small tables if you are on your own.Situated in what is probably the best mountain biking in Britain it is patronised by locals and visitors alike all of whom are welcomed by the friendly staff. Caberston Coffee Shop is a small, family run coffee shop in the little village of Caberston in the Borders. It is nothing fancy, that is not what it tries to be. It is a homely, friendly and welcoming place with simple, mainly home-made food. Service is quick, prices are good, atmosphere is warm.Just fantastic as a stopping-off place on a car journey or if you just need a wholesome bite to eat while in the area.Loved it!

Went here for lunch after our walking group outing. Food was fine if a basic choice. Was seriously overcharged and while I got £5 returned still not convinced that I was due back another 50p. On a soup and a sandwich and a toastie plus water I think alarm bells should have rung in the waitress's mind. I doubt anything would have happened unless I had done a bit of mental arithmetic.

This is such a lovely café. Always a nice buzz about the place, spacious without feeling like it's a barn. The staff are friendly and efficient and the place is spotless. The home baking is excellent and the number of beautiful cakes on offer is amazing. I think there were 5 of them the last time I was there (Coffee cake, ginger and chocolate, Victoria sponge, lemon drizzle, strawberry...). The quality and variety of baking puts many cafes to shame!Good scones, filled rolls and soup as well. Very reasonably priced. Highly recommended.

We called in to this cafe on our way through to Edinburgh and we were delighted with the warm, friendly reception we had when we walked in.The place was very busy - mainly local people (judging by the accents!) - but we were served quickly and efficiently.

We were staying next door at the Crown Inn to attend a wedding in the area however commencement of their lunch service was leaving us tight for time so we popped in here instead in the knowledge we’d get a decent snack. The stairs may be a challenge for the less able however it’s worth the effort as the produce served is very good. We both ordered quiche which was served with salad, coleslaw, crisps and a Balsamic dressing (£6.50). I’m not usually too keen on Balsamic however I used some from the small pot provided separately and it turned out to be fine. The quiche itself was very good. We had coffee (£3) and tea (£2.80) which were very good too but since we were a bit pushed for time we had tray bakes as takeaway - Millionaire Shortbread for my wife and a slice of Aero Mint for myself. Both priced at £3.50 they went down well with a coffee the following day when we were back home! Service on this occasion by the two young females serving was pleasant and efficient. Overall cost for lunch was a reasonable £25.80.

Just had a delicious lunch here with the best bowl of soup I think I've ever had. I can't recommend this place highly enough... Friendly welcome, quirky surroundings and all home made food, the bread included. Worth a visit to the town for the food alone! Thanks for having us... If we're in the area again, we'll be back!!!

Had been looking forward to my visit made specifically to try this place out. Noone else in except the numerous staff all talking away happily to each other. After looking at menu which looked fabulous I went up to order as none of staff looked vaguely interested in taking my order. No sit down we will come to you. I sat and waited and the place started to fill. 3 other tables came in and someone came from behind the counter to clear dirty dishes that had been on a table when I went in. Finally someone came to serve me and I commented on my wait to which I was given a story about the coffee machine not working which was why staff were chatting. Hmmmmn really. Then as of course luck would have it they were out of the very thing I was there to have. I will give them another chance another day as the menu was interesting but the service was shockingly bad especially if they then are having to tell people no coffee! Zero recognition of interaction with customers and I speak as someone with a long hospitality career. Great location great menu but lacking in customer connection.

My husband and I stopped by here for lunch. The train ticket we had purchased had taken us to Tweedbank, but we quickly reboarded after realizing there were many more options to be had in Galashiels. Dave's was one of the places that popped up after a Google query. Despite having just made it past the lunch rush, the person at the counter was very cordial. We told he that we were celebrating our first anniversary/latermoon and gave us a baked treat and a recommendation for a nearby park whereby to enjoy it. I'd highly recommend Dave's if you are looking for a tasty yet affordable lunch spot.
