Visited on Saturday lunchtime with a walking group. Really nice small local cafe - excellent snack type lunch. Friendly, helpful staff/owner. Sensible prices. (Helpful with advance booking, table ready etc - nice to see !!)

Visited today with my friend for early lunch. Wonderfully decorated tea room with very friendly staff. I had the jacket potato with prawns and my friend had salmon and cream cheese bagel. Both came with side salad and coleslaw. They were freshly made and tasted so nice. Lovely pot of tea for me with delicate china and a biscuit. My friend had a latte which she said was delicious. The total bill was just over £22 which we thought was very reasonable. Will be back for sure.

What a hidden gem! Easy parking outside, lovely inside, lovely staff and decor, the cakes were very tempting but we went for eggs benedict and poached eggs and avocado. Both perfectly cooked and served hot. Coffee and a hot chocolate (which came with a choc chip cookie!) to finish off. The scones, cream and jam looked scrummy too. Nicest place to eat in thundersley village!

I love it here. I’m a local and whenever I get time of I’ll make a point of meeting a friend for breakfast or lunch here. Small, cute, friendly, welcoming place. It’s worth booking in advance. The menu is vast and varied but quality food and they don’t rush you. I’ve always felt refreshed and revived after coming here and friends always comment on how nice it is. Option to sit outside on warm weather but they have had burners and blankets out there to keep you warm too. Highly recommend!

This is a great little cafe where a lot of thought has gone into making your visit one to remember. The decor is that of a fine English tea room and the food was great quality. The staff were welcoming and friendly as well as being attentive. The food was of good quality particularly bacon and sausage and cooked to perfection. It had a lot of taste and the price was fair. It was our first visit but it will definitely not be the last. Highly recommended.

I held my Mums 80th birthday afternoon tea at By George for 20 people, it was a private function on a Sunday. All the guests absolutely loved it ! This is a great place to have an intimate party/ celebration.

Lovely friendly place, really pretty decor, staff smiley and friendly, excellent food and service, can't wait to go back!

My mum had afternoon tea delivered to us for our daughters 1st birthday today. It was lovely! All on a unicorn cake stand the sandwiches had a nice selection (coronation chicken, egg Mayo, cheese, ham & tomato) and the cake selection was equally lovely we thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend this to anyone who wants to brighten up someone’s day.

Dropped in today whilst on the way back to Westcliff-on-Sea for breakfast. Lovely attentive staff with a great attitude and really pleasant, as was the lady owner. Full English freshly cooked, the quality of the ingredients really standing out, slightly on the slow side but given we were quite late in and it was all freshly cooked no problem there. Maybe slightly larger serving of beans and things would of been 100%.

Opened the door to dapper delivery man who said I have afternoon tea from my daughter who lives in Warwickshire. The afternoon tea was superb. So fresh, so yummy and so big I saved the cakes for a little later. Have had afternoon tea at The Ritz and at Harrods which was lovely, by By George was superb. Everything about it was quality !!!

It was my birthday yesterday, in lock down & not been out for 8 weeks, so thought let the day pass & look forward to next year. Well was I surprised when a knock on the door brought a delicious birthday present for me. My darling thoughtful niece who is away at Uni had ordered an afternoon tea for myself & husband. We had lovely sandwiches in a variety of fillings, a scone each with jam & cream & a selection of small cakes, all delicious & they even included a teabag each & a chocolate. It was a lovely & unexpected birthday treat & made my day, Thank you the food was yummy.

Master baker, the mother of the drizzle, a moist sponge, these guys can make it happen, the best cakes for miles and miles. Loving the service, even the pooch got a bowl of water (outside of course). Forgot to do this review when we popped in after the sunday stroll. Keep it up.... 5 stars *****

Had a lovely lunch at this little gem of a tea room, met my friend for a catch up had a delicious ploughman’s lunch with plenty of tea and coffee, atmosphere was lovely staff friendly, would definitely recommend

Great selection of sandwiches, jacket potatoes and breakfast items. Beautiful decor and very helpful staff. We had toasted Ciabatta sandwiches which came with generous salad garnish and lovely homemade coleslaw. Coffee for 2 was served in a huge Cafetiere, enough for almost 3 cups each - just what we needed! Will definitely visit again. Thank you very much.

First trip here since change of ownership. We were impressed with the decor , service and the food. The lunch came up beautifully presented and was very tasty. We will definitely be coming again

I have never been to By George before, but went with my daughter who lives locally. Lovely food,atmosphere and friendly staff. Although I live in Westcliff I will come again and bring friends. Well done.
