Great food and service. But… Prices were a bit higher than expected. The only toilet is outside, the lock doesn’t work, there was no soap and it was dirty. Staff didn’t seem to care and said “oh”. But apart from the toilet issues it was good.

We visited Butterfingers cafe twice on our brief visit to Grange Over Sands. This venue is a clean pleasant cafe with good choices for drinks and cakes, light lunches etc. Friendly efficient service, great teas and coffee. I had Scrambled egg on toast with Bacon and my Wife had home made Lasagne both were lovely we had a pot of tea and a flat white coffee to compliment. They also provide a few tables outside but under a canopy for when it is inclement weather. All in all a pleasant experience and wouldn’t hesitate in returning again. Cheers

We fell upon this place after being disappointed by The Hazelmere down the road which was so unfriendly. This place however was great, we were welcomed with a smile and a chat. The breakfast was delicious and really cheap for this area. We loved it so much we came back for breakfast for the remaining days of our holiday. Would highly recommend x

Haven`t been here for about a year, but we were not disappointed on this visit. We called mid afternoon, had a simple late lunch, and the food was excellent, served quickly, & piping hot, the staff, as always, are very pleasant, the place is clean. We always try to use Butterfingers, when visiting Grange. All in all, a lovely, homely eaterie.

We were out & about photographing Good Friday and couldn’t find many places open for a breakfast on our way back from the Lake District but after a couple of google searches we found this place open. It’s a very clean place and the staff are very friendly, our breakfast was cooked fresh and was hot and really nice and great with a hot cup of tea. I would definitely recommend if you in the area 10 out of 10.

We’ve been before so we knew it was going to be good, and it certainly lived up to our expectations. Ii was a miserable day and I needed a comforting lunch so I chose soup of the day; leek and potato. This was served with a warm roll and butter. The soup tasted homemade and had chunks of vegetables. It was absolutely delicious My friend had a toasted sandwich with theirs and this was good too. We felt like treating ourselves so chose scones with jam and cream. The scone was warm with a generous layer of jam and an even more generous pile of cream. Very decadent! The tea was a proper English brew too! Highly recommended.

Last Sunday, Two friends and I, all in our sixties were told their were no tables available. Many had reserved signs on them but there was two tables free that could have been put together and some outside. We got the impression that we were not welcome as had motorbike gear on. Went here on 8th October with 2 friends. There were 7 customers in, 3 tables reserved, 2 inside tables vacant and all outside seats vacant. We was astonished to be told they didn't have a table for us. They clearly did have tables and the only reason a can think of for them saying they didn't is that they couldn't be bothered. The owner doesn't bother to reply to reviews either. We went to the cafe on the prom where we got great service.

I visited today one of our first family trips out with our 3 week old baby. We chose butterfingers because we’re local and we know they do good food. The food was lovely and the service was quick. When I went up to pay, the lovely lady with the ponytail told me it was cash only. I said I didn’t realise and that I’d nip to the nearest cash machine. The older lady with red curly hair said “there’s a big sign outside!!” In a sarcastic and rude tone. I must admit, I didn’t see the sign, which is my fault. I was too busy trying to bundle my newborn out of the car and into the cafe whilst it was pouring down and I didn’t look up to see the sign. I nipped to the cash machine and went back to pay, no harm done. Thank you to the lovely lady who served us our drinks, you were warm and friendly throughout. I won’t be coming back though, local or not. I shouldn’t leave a cafe and cry in my car.

I have heard plenty of decent reviews of Butterfingers and decided to try this cafe on a visit to Grange over Sands. I was quite impressed: my meal and coffee came to £13.50, which is perfectly acceptable these days. No complaints with the quality and quantity- my haddock and chips were well cooked and the portions decent for the price. Also the waitress and lady on the till were friendly. Another reason you might want to visit Butterfingers is apart from the cafe side, they sell Lake District tea towels, biscuits and souvenirs and none of these looked kitschy or cheap. I bought a decent tea towel for £4.95 for my kitchen.

didn’t go there expecting much but still left severely underwhelmed. The tap water was rancid, the food was bog standard if not below and definitely overpriced for what you get. Not really impressed with the service either as the waitresses both looked and acted like they had better places to be. Overall atmosphere was pretty poor too as the heater must have been set to full blast and it was dead silent in there - which made for awkward table conversation. There’s nicer and friendlier cafes nearby which would be more worth your while/pennies. Unfortunate but there was nothing worth calling home about.

The lady was very happy to let the dog in and we put him on a towel. Really good as could eat inside. Lunch was a cooked breakfast and other sandwiches with lashings of hot tea and toast. It's been a little while since our visit, but as I was leaving a review for another cafe elsewhere, I thought I'd do one for Butterfingers too. My partner and I popped in for an early-ish lunch one day, and made our choice from the menu. I had the steak pie, my partner had a ham salad. The food arrived in less than 10 minutes, which we didn't feel was bad given the place was over half full. Butterfingers is the sort of place where, when your food arrives, you can tell it's been cooked and plated up with care. Everything looks just perfect. And it pretty much is. We didn't bother with a sweet course on this occasion, as we were a little pressed for time, but all in all, Butterfingers ticks the boxes. Recommended.
