Bush Inn in Allerdale

We popped into the Bush Inn today and so glad we did. The bar was so welcoming and the food was amazing- 3 had Thai meals and 1 had a pub classic couldn’t complement the chef enough. This is a gem of a bar with a separate eating area. If we are in the area again it will be our first stop

Walked in expecting a great pub meal, as we had been here before a few years back. What we got was an exceptional 5* Thai meal. (Pub food also on menu). Friendly atmosphere, a great place to spend an evening. Would definitely recommend.

Food average and a little overpriced for the amount and quality. Service friendly if a little on the slow side. Beer very good .

Nice cosy pub in Cockermouth the food here is very good and a nice choice of beers. The staff are very friendly. The only bad thing about the pub is the landlady who is very abrupt with people and quite rude with paying customers. I spoke to a local lady while i was eating my pie and chips which were very nice and she told me the landlady was leaving soon to run a pub elsewhere which will be good for Cockermouth as a lot of locals have stopped using the bush inn because of this rude lady in charge.

I live just outside Cockermouth and visit the Bush regularly, Never had a bad meal here, food is always really good and in generous portions. The manager always has a quick chat and comes to make sure everything is well with our meals. Food can sometimes be a little slow, but they have games in the bar area to keep kids happy whilst you wait.

The food was lovely, freshly cooked and great quality. Even had home made chips! The staff were great, so helpful and friendly. Very reasonable prices. Definitely recommend.

How this pub has 4.5 stars I will never know. Unfriendly is an understatement, go to Fletcher next door or blackbull down the street

Went to the bush inn at cockermouth for Sunday lunch with my missus. The beef was absolutely melt in the mouth, the veg cooked to perfection as were the roast potatoes and yorkshires! Absolutely brilliant would throughly recommend!

Absolutely brilliant Steak and Ale Pie! Couldn’t have been better. The pub is light and welcoming and the Cumberland Ale was bang on.

Absolutely excellent Sunday Lunch. Great price . Freshly prepared and so tasty. Landlord ,Landlady and bar staff were so friendly. Will definitely be back. Our dog was made to feel welcome also and was given a plentiful supply of gravy bones 😂

Lovely proper style pub. Popped in with a friend for a catch up. Met both the landlady and landlord, Paula and Tim, who were very welcoming and made me feel as if I had known them for years. Had an excellent meal of fish and chips which was great value and well presented. Lovely atmosphere with locals coming in and out all evening. Great place and looking forward to my next visit.

The Bush Inn is a delightfully old style, traditional pub and we always make a point of popping in when we are staying in Cockermouth. It is smart, clean and cosy and has excellent beers and good service. In other words - it is spot on.

Had anywhere else in the town been open we’d have walked out. The rudest, disinterested staff member I’ve ever encountered who is clearly in the wrong job. “You’ll have to hurry as the chef leaves soon!” She growled. (We’d booked our table the day before) The food was awful. Tasteless, stale slop that was microwaved to death. Grey mash potato that had been clearly sitting around for hours. Lasagna totally tasteless with meat that resembled corned beef. I really can’t find anything positive to say about this place.

A really lovely, traditional, Cumbrian pub. It has a great atmosphere, really friendly staff and beautiful food. It's a perfect place for a catch up with friends. I will definitely be back!

Visited at the weekend with our German Shepherd, were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. The staff and regulars were good fun, polite and very attentive. When back in Cockermouth, would not hesitate going back and taking the dog.

We have been coming to Cockermouth for 7 years and this is by far the best pub. It’s such a welcoming place, the staff and customers are always friendly and helpful. The food and service are wonderful and every care is taken to make sure you have the best time. There are special offers on beers and ales during the week and live entertainment at weekends. It’s recently been redecorated and it’s obvious a great deal of time and care has gone into this. It’s just as you would expect a good local pub to be, a vital part of the local community.
