I have visited this town center hotel many times over the last 30 years, and have seen many changes to its character. At this hotel, I have been event DJ, restaurant and spa/gym customer. I have not stayed here overnight. Firstly, the food is amazing. Top notch, and perhaps Workington's finest? I recommend sitting in the bar, overlooking Washington Street. Ohh, and ask for Andrew to serve. :) The function suite is situated on the top floor, (awkward for entertainers carrying equipment.) However, the experience is light, refreshing and spacious. The function suite has well maintained themed downlighting, which is a wonderful addition, and enhances the atmosphere. The dancefloor is large, and easy to fill. I have also DJ'd smaller parties here, were the room was partitioned. In both areas, there is mountains of energy in the atmosphere for a great night. The gym is surprisingly good, well stocked and maintained. I like the swimming pool (formally a car showroom), it has its own atmosphere, with a relaxing ambience. My son had swimming lessons here too. The hotel is well managed, and complimented with kind and sociable staff. 5 stars.

Only went to the coffee shop but the service was dreadfully slow. The place wasn't particularly busy but we waited so long for someone to take our order that in the end we walked out.

Stayed for two nights with my brother. Great service and food in the restaurant/bar area. Beds are very comfortable. I will stay again and recommend.

The hotel lives from the remaining good employees. Breakfast: Coffee can be chewed and is very weak. You can choose from the menu, but more than half of it is to be paid for. Dinner: Very good service and high prices. Food fits very well, I can recommend it. Elevator was broken 3 weeks out of 3.5 weeks. Rooms: Beds and co are from the early 2000s (if not 90s). My bed sheets were not changed once in 3 weeks and not even one of them was vacuumed. I reported 2 times that my toilet did not flush. The second time I was able to change the room but only because I got upset in the evening that it still wasn't working. The employee fished the note out of the garbage where it was written...

The hotel staff from reception and housekeeping to kitchen and waiters are nice and friendly. There are different places where you can eat but restaurant serves very good food. The swimming pool is of a nice size, sauna and jacuzzi plus a work out area that overlooks the pool. Parking is not so easy at the hotel as spaces are limited where two spaces are for electrical cars and around 7 spaces for other cars. If you keep window open sometimes at night you can hear seagulls or people and in the morning where our room was, you can hear trucks backing up unloading. If you’re by car Tesco superstore is 3 minutes away and Morrisons with a petrol station around 5 minutes away. Beds and pillows are very comfortable. Overall it was a good stay.

Friendly staff, pretty decent facilities (pool and sauna are good, gym is very limited but functioning) and comfortable bed. My room was, um, compact. Yes, that's the word. And my view was a roof about 10' away. Happily I wasn't there for the sights but for the sleep, and that was good. Bathroom a bit cramped but water was hot and pressure was good. Food was pretty reasonable as well.

Worst hotel ever!!! The price for this hotel is very high, and the hospitality is terrible. When we first arrived, we discussed the rooms and received keys that didn't work properly. After getting new keys, we found that the room was already occupied. Finally, we were given another room, but when we tried to freshen up, we discovered there was no body wash in the bathroom. The staff was very unhelpful. The next morning, we went to the buffet, but there was nothing to eat except fruits, cereals, and bread. We ordered from the menu (which was included for free), but when we asked for croissants, they said they had run out after serving only 10-15.We encountered numerous problems like these, and the staff was consistently unhelpful.

Oh Bill!! As a born and bread Workington local who is now the owner of a national successful business I am not only disappointed but ashamed! Advertising and charging under the banner of the Washington Hotel and supplying what is nothing more than a below average hostel room is daylight robbery! The room once accessed via the master key after several visits to reception was basic , dirty and not worth the price paid! It is not very often that I leave a review like this but I’m hoping that this may reach someone that might actually take notice!

I attended WC venue for a bluecrest check up. First impression was negative - there is a terrible smell inside and the recepionist was rather unhelpful which was also commented on by the bluecrest assessor who used one of their rooms for assessment. The only people who were spotted working hard were the cleaners.... Outdated place that needs more investment and some massive culture boost. Poor sinage and confusing directions made it difficult to find the assessment room.

What better way to celebrate a birthday than visiting Wonderful Washington! After walking up the grand staircase you enter the bar area which is always very cosy with a mixture of sofas and tables. The service from the skilled, knowledgeable, professional, friendly staff was fantastic. We shared a veggie sharing board which was a delicious mix of various dishes and was superb value for money. Our classy cocktails and a sumptuous bottle of Rioja were extremely satisfying! Our teenage children loved their choice of lasagne & chips and chicken supreme with delectable mocktails!

£23 for two hot chocolates and two slices of cake! Absolutely extortionate! There were no prices on the cake cabinet, but had we have realised how much this was going to be and we weren't sheltering from the rain, we would have left. Service was also poor. It was table service, but after a little while of no acknowledgement we decided to go up and order, where we still had to wait to be acknowledged whislt three employees stood behind the counter chatting. Didn't make for a great overall experience sadly.
