Having been tersely rejected at other food establishments because we didn’t have a booking we wandered into the Oddfellows, cold, hungry and tired. “Yes, of course we can eat here,” we were told by their welcoming staff. The food was good. My fish was fresh, tasty and properly cooked. Which is more than can be said for some of the other local restaurants. My daughter described her bangers and mash with onion gravy as “to die for.” It was well priced too, a good meal and a drink for less than twenty pounds. It had a nice atmosphere where the locals seemed happy to mingle with and chat to the tourists. I’ll definitely be going back next time I’m in Keswick. Thanks Oddfellows

WOW! If there's a place in Keswick that has an atmosphere for all "walks" of life, get it ;-)? Then this is it! I visit Keswick frequently, even lived and worked there for a couple years and this venue was a bit hit and miss.. but my most recent visit last week, the pub caught us off guard, we only planned to stay for one, ended up dancing the night away! Great staff, clearly managed by a great landlady! Such a turnaround, I hope to experience the same on my visit up in December!! Keep it up xx

Visited today after avoiding the place like the plague for months due to the horrendous urine & stale beer smell from the previous tenants lack of hygiene and cleanliness. Really pleased to see the place clean. Bright. Friendly. And actually open! Gobsmacked to hear off the new manager about the state of the pub and the amount of cleaning that had to be done to get the place open. Friendly happy staff compared to the previous gormless staff who couldn’t even crack a smile. Will definitely be back visiting again once they’ve managed to get the kitchen right to open again. Best of luck!

Great Service. Great Staff. Great Atmosphere. I visited Oddfellows over the weekend and I was pleasantly surprised by how charming and welcoming the staff were, nothing was too much trouble. There was live music on and the atmosphere was really good. The pub was extremely clean and there was a good selection of drinks. I definitely recommend this pub and I will be back!

Having been away from Keswick for a good few years I returned recently and revisited a few of the local bars and pubs. The Oddfellows (Oddies) has greatly improved since I last visited. The staff are warm, welcoming and (unlike a few places I've been to) polite and professional. It's lovely and clean, good taste in music but not so loud that it ruins any chance of a conversation. Great service from lovely staff, and an improvement in the decor and atmosphere. Marstons could do with hanging on to whoever they have in place here as they've clearly got a good grip on the Keswick pub scene.

Visited the Oddfellows Arms in keswick. The live music on Saturday night was excellent, a guitarist with great music. Had lots of people up dancing and singing. Last orders was called by the artist at 10.50. I went to the bar at 10.53 to be told 'we're closed' in quite a rude manner. A small group of us were singing, within 5 minutes of the guitarist having everyone having a brilliant time. Staff came over and said 'stop singing'. We were having a conversation when the landlord came over shouting 'this is my licence'. He was asked to go away as this was a private conversation. He then ordered us to leave, even though we had agreed to when we finished our 1" of beer in our glasses. But the threat continued, and we left. This episode ruined a really good night. The pub itself needs updating, decorating and maybe some bar staff training in customer interaction. Won't be going back.

Absolutely brill until the live music goes off at 11pm and the staff kick you and your friends out. Only ones dancing and singing 9-11pm to be told at 11pm that you can’t sing and chant and chat to your friends. Friends asked to leave for no reason and threatened by staff. Won’t be returning

A group of 7 of us attempted to enter the oddfellows arms looking for a pudding and a cocktail after a day of hillwalking. Firstly, there was a musty smell as you walked in. Then, the staff were rude from the minute we walked in. We asked if they did puddings or cocktails and were told no and we don't do hendo's either and proceeded to be really rude. Nobody had consumed any alcohol and we were a very relaxed calm group of people at about 730 pm! Thankfully, we ended up at a lovely pub across the road with polite staff and better atmosphere but would not recommend here at all!!

I remember when the Oddfellows used to be a great pub, called in Saturday night for a couple of pints, the pub wasn't busy at all, ordered a pint and a half only to be served in plastic glasses, I asked if they had no proper glasses to be told "there's a beer festival on in Keswick and we don't have time". I replied there is no beer festival on in here to which the bar person replied "all Keswick is using plastic glasses" I replied this is the only pub I've been served with plastic glasses. We left this pub and visited 3 further pubs that night, all pubs served us with proper glasses. We were at the beer festival on the night before and even they supplied proper glasses. I'm sorry but when you pay top whack for beers I don't expect plastic glasses. Won't waste my time going back to this pub.

We went in for Sunday lunch, staff were friendly when we arrived but went downhill from there. Literally the whole time we were there all we could here was one member of staff going on and on and on about the till being down. The 3 roasts came and they were all cold, as was the gravy. The lady that served us was very apologetic, the plates were taken away and the meals heated up, how they were sent out like that is beyond me, we were the only people in at the time so the head heater upper can't have been that busy. Before we left i used the toilet, it was a mess, certainly not cleaned from the previous day, bits of toilet paper lying everywhere, empty toilet rolls lying around and the smell was awful, chewing gum in the urinal, admittedly this should not be there in the first place but still needed cleaned up as did the whole toilet area. Needs better leadership and the basics sorted, let's hope it improves.

Not good enough to serve lukewarm nachos without the guacamole listed on the menu (trade descriptions?), and have off beer on tap at the start of service. Real ale should be checked before service starts for condition, not leave it to the customer to complain. Someone in the kitchen should know the guacamole had run out, and customers informed when ordering in case of a change of mind. We spoke to 2 staff members, one of which was suitably apologetic and went to check with the kitchen. The other cleared the table and went off in a huff when I suggested a good pub would have checked the beer before opening (we were the first customers and there were plenty of staff to have done this). On the positive side Wainwright Amber was in good condition, and the barman who served us at the bar was personable and efficient. I think it a real shame that the pub now appears to be just another anonymous Marstons plc venue with standardised menu. It used to have a slightly quirky great value "local" menu, but now I could get the food anywhere.

Odd Fellows pretty much sums up the bar staff. poor interaction and no appreciation of a standard drink. Good food, extremely fair pricing and big portions! Second time dining here as of recent. Generous portion sizes and really fair prices considering the area can be more on the expensive side. Really good grub, we got the Fish and Chips, Scampi, and started with the vegan nachos. They could do with a bit of vegan cheese as a point of improvement, and to have plenty of fish ordered in, as that's twice now there wasn't enough in house. I reccomend a visit, there is a kids menu but you have to request a verbal one as there wasn't a print put version just as a warning! Once again, good food and fair price.

Visited here the other week and it seems to have a new owner. Staff were friendly and polite. We ordered food which was really good for the price. I had the gammon and my partner the mixed grill, at the time they had a promotion on so we got 30% off the price of the food. The food was excellent for the price. It's a dog friendly place with treats for the dog at the bar that were free. The food is what you'd get at a pub in Carlisle for example at a very reasonable price considering its Keswick and very pricey if you eat elsewhere in Keswick. Its a lovely pub and the owner took the time to have a chat with us. I gave some feedback concerning the lattes that we ordered because they came in a cup rather than a mug so I found the coffee a little pricey for a cup and would of expected a mug of coffee. My partner and I visit Keswick quite frequently and will make this place a must have place to eat considering the very reasonable price and friendly staff. Great little pub with plenty of seating outside for when the weather gets warmer. See you soon. 👍

With the biggest & best beer garden in Keswick and access straight from the lake-ward car park, this is a very popular pub. Its insides are smaller and the bar not easy to access - being effectively also the corridor in the centre of the pub. We couldn't get served first visit and second time, as the heavens opened on a summer Monday, the bar tender was alone, under-stocked, coffee machine-less and, frankly, like a rabbit in the headlights - though I'm sure doing his best. I have visited this town center hotel many times over the last 30 years, and have seen many changes to its character. At this hotel, I have been event DJ, restaurant and spa/gym customer. I have not stayed here overnight. Firstly, the food is amazing. Top notch, and perhaps Workington's finest? I recommend sitting in the bar, overlooking Washington Street. Ohh, and ask for Andrew to serve. :) The function suite is situated on the top floor, (awkward for entertainers carrying equipment.) However, the experience is light, refreshing and spacious. The function suite has well maintained themed downlighting, which is a wonderful addition, and enhances the atmosphere. The dancefloor is large, and easy to fill. I have also DJ'd smaller parties here, were the room was partitioned. In both areas, there is mountains of energy in the atmosphere for a great night. The gym is surprisingly good, well stocked and maintained. I like the swimming pool (formally a car showroom), it has its own atmosphere, with a relaxing ambience. My son had swimming lessons here too. The hotel is well managed, and complimented with kind and sociable staff. 5 stars.

£23 for two hot chocolates and two slices of cake! Absolutely extortionate! There were no prices on the cake cabinet, but had we have realised how much this was going to be and we weren't sheltering from the rain, we would have left. Service was also poor. It was table service, but after a little while of no acknowledgement we decided to go up and order, where we still had to wait to be acknowledged whislt three employees stood behind the counter chatting. Didn't make for a great overall experience sadly.
