Small portion of warmish chips. Possibly the worst I have had in a long time. Very disappointed. The scraps/scrumps were lovely very hot. Not good value for money

Outstanding food topped with friendly service too. The fish was really fresh, and cooked to perfection. It’s definitely a must be stop if you’re hungry and in the area.

1st time trying the Burton Chippy, firstly the good, the chips tasted amazing and so did the gravy. Unfortunately the rest forget. We paid £3 for fish bites (chips not included which was fine), for the cost you received 4, these were 2cm each at best which was horrendous value for money, we purchased 2 lots of these for the children, we would have been better off buying a full size piece of fish and breaking it into pieces, would have cost less and provided more fish! Also ordered the pies, which had been cooked and reheated so were soggy rather than nice flaky pastry. Whilst the chips and gravy were very tasty again portion sizes were very small. Sad to say we will not be returning

Ordered fish and chips x 3 in error from this business for 610 collection on a Saturday evening Then realised that I’d ordered from burton road chippy in Lincoln rather than burton road chippy in west didsbury Manchester Rang the Lincoln business to request a refund as it was a genuine mistake and was told tne food was ready It was fish and chips x 3 which I’m sure could be resold on a Saturday evening at 610 So £ 27.60 wasted but really unfair in my opinion

I was contacted by Burton Rd Chippy after my last revue about it being closed. HOW WRONG I WAS it is up and running just down the road. I sampled Regular Fish & Chips at lunchtime brilliant as usual, excellent size portions just as tasty and hot. So pleased it is still in business Social Distance rules enforced with no issues at all. Keep up the good work and hopefully see you again soon

WE were regulars at the 'old place' but started going back on Saturdays for takeaway after they moved to the new shop.We found there was far too much oil in the food trays after we had opened them to eat and the chips were rather soggy,not nice and dry and crisp like they were at the old place.Not going back !!!!!!!!!!!!!

We visited the nearby dentist on Thursday 11th March 2021 and hoped to visit our favourite Chippy to unfortunately find as we pulled up a huge TO LET SIGN and telephone number displayed in fish shop window. I can only hope that this is incorrect but I’m afraid that there website shows not taking orders.☹️☹️😂😂

Not had fish and chips in ages so decided to give the newly opened Chippy on Burton Road a go...wow ordered and paid online, chose a pick up time, husband arrived to find order ready as per time stated, don’t live far away, they were still red hot and absolutely delicious. Will definitely be having again and would have no hesitation in recommending them.

The chip portion sizes here are quite disappointing. We have ordered a large on a few occasions and each time these really could pass for a small/regular. When paying top end prices this is a real shame. The chips are lovely, but why scrimp on something as cheap as chips?

Been to this Restaurant many times,even recommended friends to it! We were on holiday and decided we would go for a take away on the way home on Friday,my husband, booked and paid for the meal ,but accidentally booked Thursday instead of Friday.the out come was we were not allowed to change the booking,not knowing it is in the contract we lost out,

Fantasic news Burton Road Chippy restaurant to close for good over a period of 4 years have eaten there. i never learnt people said try it again so I did same, old overpriced peas like slop small fish charged as large and horrible chips. thank christ its shut

Order 2 regular cod and chips off deliveroo and was not disappointed! The food was still hot a flavoursome and went down perfect with a bottle of Vino. Absolute delight can’t recommend enough

Dry, reheated/over cooked food, stone cold and delivered late. Contacted for a refund Saturday, was fobbed off to call back when manager available Monday to then be told no manager is available that day either? Stay away this is the second problem I have had with this place, and will not order from them again will also be contacted food standards!

Ate an early dinner on Friday. Waitress was very polite and helpful. We ordered grilled plaice for two. It did take rather a long Tim to arrive, possibly because we wanted grilled rather than fried fish. The waitress apologised and allowed a small discount as compensation. The fish was very pleasant and the chips were well made. There was a board which stated which farmer grew the potatoes and which ship landed the fish.

Cant seem no matter how I try to eat fish and chips in fat this wonderful place cooks in oil. Its crispy and is not greeasey any ex southerns out there will appreciate the taste of fresh fish and chips that does not start to stick to your mouth if you dont eat it quick enougth, I do understand different regoins cook differently my nan cooked in dripping and she made it to 100. The service was great and the restaurant was very comfortable, my brother says its very busy Fridays and Saturdays so maybe a mid week treat for the first time

visited at 8.30 on a friday evening and after waiting for a supposedly freshly cooked meal received cold fish cold chips and cold peas. Very disappointed

Not the friendliest of service, and a long wait although not very busy when I went in, due no doubt to the cod being specially cooked. The packaging, although efficient, is excessive and wasteful, probably adding to the £7 cost for cod and a small portion of chips. The fish was good, as were the chips, though I am not sure I want to go again.

We were not impressed with the chips here. They are never crispy and brown always white and flavourless. Have tried several times so not a one off review.

Been here for the second time, wasn’t disappointed, absolutely spot on, so tasty, service fab. Highly recommend!

Having never been into Burton Road Chippy before, I felt compelled to try considering their track record and I was overwhelmed by the warm welcome and exceptional customer service I received from the lovely Julie. Julie was very informative of the allergy and dietary points and ran through all the information clearly and coherently, putting my friend’s mind at rest when asked about vegetarian options. The prices are exceptional and portion sizes are even better! I whole-heartedly recommend this establishment, having been the best food I’ve eaten in Lincoln in years, and I will 100% be back as soon as I can!Thanks to Julie once again for the unmatched service and smiles, absolutely unbeatable!

We came here, our 6th visit and the fish and chips are the best. Lucy the waitress was amazing and now you sell prosecco it’s an added bonus. Excellent money and it maybe the last time we visit as our son graduates tomorrow. Keep up the good work! Yiamas!!!

As well as the traditional takeaway fish and chip service this establishment offers the attraction of a sparkling clean 60 seater restaurant too. Moreover, its licensed for beer and wine etc!

Two large bags of chips priced at £2.65 each and 1 large pot of curry priced at £1.30 should, realistically, be enough to feed 2 adults and 3 children, especially considering this from our usual chippy feeds us all with plenty left over too.

I love this place / its clean, professional and the fish and chips are fab. There’s a blackboard that states where the potatoes are from and which boat caught the fish! There’s a cafe too if you want to eat in - best chippy in Lincoln! There a place to park while you pick up too!

The cod and haddock here are generous and tasty. Never had a bad meal. Quick service, polite, friendly staff

Excellent fish and chips could not fault the delicious food or friendly service and even though I am. Grimsby fisherman’s daughter I have to admit just as good as Steele’s and papas also a shout out to the lovely lady who served us delicious scraps when we ordered and picked up on our second visit excellent value for money look forward to visiting again at Christmas.

Had lunch here yesterday with a friend. Excellent fish & chips, friendly service and nice eating area. Was recommended and I was not disappointed. Would visit again.

My husband and I have been using this restaurant for a year or so now. It is consistently high quality fish and chips. Always perfectly battered and non-greasy, quality of fish is second to none and in the restaurant it tells name of the trawler and the farmer who produces the potatoes. Great value for money.

I live close to this place and very occasionally grab a quick portion of chips after work. Every single time I go in I’m faced with the same thing called at least once, sometimes more, when waiting to order...’there’s a wait in chips’. The wait time is completely disproportionate to the quality of food in my opinion. Dry, bland, overpriced, and a tiny portion to boot. Everyone is crammed near the door at the ‘order point’ and a large volume of people are ushered to the other side to wait an age for their order. It feels like chaos...and it genuinely baffles me how a CHIP shop, are constantly out of chips....as I say, sometimes you could be in the queue and see it happen 2 or 3 times. I don’t have high standards when it comes to fish and chips, but the basics are missed.

We visited here on Saturday night. We sat down and were given the menus, the waitress took our drinks order. The drinks were brought to the table and the waitress asked for our food order and only at this point did she mention that they had no cod! This was very disappointing, a fish and chip chip without cod. We were told that they had been busy the night before and had sold out. They had a cod and chips special on the menu and I asked if they could offer a plaice and chips alternative but she said she had been told that they couldn’t. Plaice was actually 20p cheaper on the menu so I didn’t really understand why. I had haddock and chips which was very nice. I think that they should have told us that there was no cod before taking our drinks order and have allowed us to have plaice as an alternative. I think the customer service was disappointing and would try somewhere else next time. My advice check they have everything on the menu before ordering a drink if you want something particular. We were also told at the end you could order your fish skinless if you prefer, so that’s worth knowing.

Really disappointed. Before the incessant desire to meet Deliveroo orders this was a decent place. Now......

This was our second visit to Burton Road fish and chip shop. The food is great, no greasy fish and chips. The staff are lovely and the restaurant ambiance is cosy.

Very lucky to have Burton rd Chippy on the doorstep. Love the fact they tell you which boat the fish was caught on and what type of potatoes they are frying. Always a queue but with the wait.

The fish and chips are fantastic. Fresh, cooked to perfection, couldn't ask for anything more. Well worth a visit.

We carried out some work for des the owner and was treated too fish and chips. Happy to say the 5 star review is highly deserved as This is one of the best meals from a chip shop I have ever eaten. Also the kitchen (where we worked) is one of the cleanest we have ever came across in our line of work. Highly recommend and also des the owner is a top gentleman very friendly and welcoming.

6 of us went for evening meal, we all had cod or haddock and chips, mushy peas and pickled onions. One had fish cakes, all really beautifully cooked, not fatty or greasy at all, crisp batter and clean taste. Good value apart from our accompaniments which we found a little expensive, 70p for one pickled onion....

I popped in fairly late on a Saturday evening. I politely asked for pie, chips and gravy. Sadly they'd run out of pie and gravy. Now, that's OK, as it was late and I'm not a regular... I don't know the unspoken rules of pie availability at Burton Chippy.

Excellent little restaurant. Small car park but plenty of on street parking. Good choice on menu, not just typical fish and chip shop menu. Good value for money, good service and easily the best fish and chip restaurant in the area

Upon the recommendation of our B&B; landlady we visited this fish and chip restaurant. The menu had a good range of dishes, and we chose the fish and chips set meal that came with bread and butter and a hot drink, followed by bread & butter pudding and custard. Both courses were excellent/ good value and the house wine was pleasant. The service was efficient and conversations with the staff were welcoming and friendly. We walked out into the night fully sated of food and drink.

Yet another superb lunch at the Burton Road Chippy. Excellent service from Holly and Mel who are very efficient and friendly to everyone. The atmosphere is very relaxed and kept very clean.

Have been to this restaurant many times before so decided to take our family who was visiting from the south coast.

Thursday 24th January we visited the Burton Road Chippy as we very often do. We brought along a cousin and the three of us really enjoyed our meal. The friendly and efficient service from Holly as always was superb. Thanks Holly.

I truly do love this restaurant and take-away. I promote it every time I get the chance to as well.

A supposedly light lunch, the smallest piece of fish on the menu served with bread & butter, Mushy / garden peas, chips, home made tartare sauce and a cup of coffee at £15. For two that is. Served piping hot. Decent environment, spotless mens toilets.

Can’t fault the service or the food, never tasted better fish and chips, really nice resteraunt attatched to the take away shop, we treat our selves here every now and again, I challenge anyone to beat this place for fish anywhere.

I’ve visited Burton Road Chippy a few times and my visit last Friday was by far the most pleasant. Despite the fact there were two members of staff working on the floor, who were running round like blue a**** flies, the speed of the service was perhaps quicker than usual. This however did not lead to any slackness in the quality of the food - which was fresh and delicious. It is in these times where I do understand the plaudits. While I do not want to pick faults in the service, as they were excellent, they were so busy they didn’t stop to check up on us / ask if we wanted sauces. It so happened that I did - though was never given the opportunity. Therefore, only four stars. Give your staff more of a chance, put an extra body in the room/behind the bar/wherever. It was Friday night after-all.

The quality of the haddock and chips that I had was very good. The premises was very clean and invitingly presented.

Fish and chips £30 for the 4 of us. Good quality and good size portions. Staff were very friendly. There is a reason this place is always busy. People wouldn't go if it wasn't good. And the beef mince and onion gravy is delicious.

We came here for a chippy tea whilst on holiday and arrived after 8:30pm and the restaurant was closed but were intent on ordering at the counter to take away, anyway. The lady serving was extremely nice and very professional. We didn't have a long wait for our order, either.

Waitress kylie was excellent and dealt with our large table perfectly. Food was ordered and arrived reasonably quickly given it was freshly cooked. Great non greasy fish and chips. No complaints at all. Naturally busy so book a table ahead if thinking about going. Wife's halloumi was also cooked nicely and nobody left a thing! Will return.

Well, one of the bests if not THE best. Food is deliciously made, prices are very reasonable, good size portions and good variety in the menu. The service is excellent we didnt have to wait too long for our food even the resturant was full. Great service from Sean. Very clean. Pleasant staff, pleasant place, couldn't find fault if I tried. Can’t complain about the food at all. The fish is as good as it gets, the curry sauce and peas are bang on although the chips are what they are; just chippy chips.

I have now been about 3 times to this fish chop in the last month and every time i have been there the service and speed (or lack of it) when ordering take away is terrible.

We were so hot inside and the roof windows stayed shut if they had opened these we would have had a nice cooler breeze. The staff looked like they were suffering too. If you haven't got a pole to open them please invest in one or turn the aircon on and shut the doors. Food was ok, service and staff were great.

This please is so over rated I really don’t know why people go on so much about it?? To start its over priced greasy and the service is slow really was disappointed with the meal

Very friendly staff. Tables and chairs etc kept very clean. Great value for money, really good portions. A very full and varied menu. Great mushy peas! Would certainly go there again.

Walked from Lincoln Castle to this chippy because a local said it was award winning. Very disappointed, we found the chips to be dry and lacked flavour while the fish and fish batter were heavy. On the plus side the staff are friendly, the eating area was spotless and we had a nice cup of tea

After reading they had got voted good chippy thought we would give it a try. Who ever voted this chip shop one of the best have surly not tried all the chip shops in Lincoln or there own staff voting for them. Don't get me wrong staff are friendly that's it could not get parked car park was full but I don't think by customers and has it's a busy road you struggler to get near.Food was tasteless and dry.Will not return plenty of better chip shops in Lincoln

After believing the hype.....the chip shop rated second best in the Nationals 2018. We went this evening for the first time & we were very disappointed with the meal. We left most of the chips as they were ‘dry’ & tasteless. Very poor value.

We visited again as our usual fish and Chip restaurant was the other side of town. The staff were much better than last time and the overall service much better. However the chips were so bland I don't think I have ever NOT tasted anything as awful. Even Tesco own label oven chips have more flavour.

Brilliant fish and chips. We are in the restaurant on a Friday lunchtimes and it was a good sign there at least 15 other diners. Lovely service from the waitress. Would highly recommend.

Visited Burton Road fish and chip restaurant whilst on a trip to Lincoln and was very impressed with the politeness and efficiency of the staff and cleanliness of the restaurant. The food was freshly cooked and presented very nicely, there was sufficient to satisfy the biggest appetite.

A long-time fan of Burton Road Chippy. Always great friendly service in the restaurant and a proper comfort food for the take away. They have continued to adapt and improve the facilities and the restaurant is a great place to sit in and enjoy some decent fish and chips. Big fan of the large haddock, always a winner.

Had the sit in special haddock and chips tonight. First rate responsibly sourced fish with light crunchy batter. Fast and friendly service with a smile from Sean our waiter. Top notch!

Visited the shop following a request from family members who said that it was worth trying given its award. I must say that I was not over impressed with the all of the food which was no better quality than my regular chippy in Lincoln. The fish portions were smaller than I would have expected for the prices charged and overall, it was generally a lot more expensive than I normally would have paid elsewhere. Luckily, we managed to order before a large queue developed outside, which was not helped by what appeared to be slow service handling customers.

Four of us ate here early evening on a Saturday. The table was booked like several others and the restaurant was soon filling up. We were served by friendly and courteous waitresses who quickly came to take are order. The food was very good and excellent value for money. Would certainly recommend.

Just ordered 2 large Haddock (Beautifully cooked) chips....just like everywhere else ! pale and tasteless. Mushy peas also tasteless. I do not understand why they can’t cook the potatoes until Crispy and golden. A disappointing experience. Sorry.

This is the first time I have been to the fish and chip shop. It is definately the best fish and chips I have had in lincoln . I like that it tells you where the fish was sourced from and you can taste that it is good quality fish

We could'nt decide where to eat out on Friday, but as we fancied fish and chips, some friends recommended this fish and chip restaurant. I was surprised at the seating area, which was spacious and pleasant. I was expecting a squashed corner with people queuing beside me at the corner, but the restaurant/eating area is separate from the take away. There were other choices on the menu, but the fish and chips was our choice and excellent it was. It came with a pot of tea and bread and butter and was well cooked and very tasty. The portion sizes were good, I think you could choose between large ,medium and small/children's. All in all a really good meal with attentive service.

We sat in the restaurant and had the fish,chips,peas,bread, and a soft drink offer for a very reasonable £10.95. I had my fish grilled instead of batter and it was very tasty as we’re the chips and peas. There was plenty of chips and you couldn’t really fault it. The girl serving us was pleasant and friendly.

They serve a variety of dishes in the restaurant part of this and although I’m tempted to try something else, the fish and chips are so good it would seem wrong not to order them. Obviously it’s not a place with plush surroundings nor is it in an area which is very close to a decent pub but well worth the effort and they have parking.

Polite friendly staff ... clean well maintained shop ... only had chips and curry takeout but very, very good...not the cheapest around though ....but i don't mind paying more for quality !

We read about this chippy in the news as they were runner up in the annual competition for chippies. It was a worthy choice, we were in Lincoln so thought we would call in. Lovely staff and amazing fish and chips.

Went today for a fish and chip lunch, good service and reasonably priced. We all three ordered from the specials menu - but the menu was fairly extensive. The only down side is there is little or no parking available.

Just recently had Fish & Chips, tasted so amazing & will be coming back for sure , lots of room in restaurant to sit down and eat your food

Eaten in the restaurant and had take away.Prefer the take away,the restaurant to me is quite expensive for what it is,nothing special.Take away can be a bit hit and miss,last order was not hot,and fish was very greasy,everything about the place is very clean and staff are nice.

Visited Burton Road Chippy on Thursday 21st December 2017 and were shown to a table and asked if we wanted to order drinks. We chose to have our tea and coffee after our meal and this was not a problem for the very friendly waitress. We ordered the pensioners special of haddock, chips and garden peas or curry sauce, and this included tea or coffee and a choice of white or brown bread and butter. The portion was very generous and the quality was something special. Light crispy batter on the fish and light golden chips - both straight out of the pan and piping hot. Absolutely delicious and you will not find better fish and chips anywhere. Please give Burton Road Chippy a visit - you will certainly not be disappointed.

I have only ever visited the take away side so cant comment on the restaurant service. Always busy when we’ve been. Beautifully cooked fish, ships are not soft and soggy that you get elsewhere but nice and firm. Cooked in vegetable oil so ‘healthier’ with Eco friendly packaging. Runner up to a national award and reflects in the taste.

We decided to eat in the restaurant as it was lunchtime. We were greeted by a very friendly girl and given a very nice table. The restaurant was very clean and tidy hygiene was very good. We ordered our meal and were given a pot of tea while we waited. We probably waited longer than expected but it was busy. When our meals came it was worth the wait. The meal was piping hot and freshly cooked the haddock was very good and we finished it all with the exception of the bread and butter. Thanks for good service and good fish and chips.

Eating in with table service in the evening. Service was friendly and quick. A good menu but had to have fish (cod for me),chips and peas and a slice of bread. Food was cooked great, nice batter. A desert was also on the cards I plumped for the syrup sponge and custard. Pricing was fair for a sit in and table service, you expect to pay a little more for quality.

We went in to get takeaway on a busy Saturday evening. I don't want to express any negativity towards the staff, the two who served us wore trainee badges and they were polite and apologised for the long wait. I don't want them to feel blamed. For all I know, they were overwhelmed and stressed! It was indeed very busy in there, the queue was coming out the door, but that only raised my expectations - I do not mind waiting, if the food is good!We had a 10 minute drive home, but that can in no way explain the fact that most of our food was completely. Stone. Cold. I am not exaggerating, and I don't mean it was warm. The chips were cut very thickly (the thickest chippy chips I have ever seen come to think of it) and had, I'm sure, been precooked and then fried again - and not for long enough! The coldness was right in the middle of them. The peas were the same - the mush was warm; if you got a whole pea in your mouth, it was cold. The fish was nothing special; if anything, a bit thin and chewy. The only item my partner liked was a portion of onion rings (the frozen kind)And I'm not saying it's a dealbreaker .. but we also asked for scrumps ... and we didn't get any :-(We think this is the worst fish & chips we have ever had.
