This place is like a subway meets burritos. You choose the size, rice, beans, meat, toppings, etc. The food was ok. I personally hate my burrito filled with a bunch of rice so it was nice to opt out on that. However, I would also have loved to have fried beans and also some jalapenos. Also it would have been nice to have the burrito warm and the cheese melted. The food was ok and for the location the price was ok, too. It seemed clean, so that is a plus.

Awful awful burritos. Firstly went to get the £3 meal deal. Believed that was what I was getting and then they ask for £7.50 after I obviously didn;t spell it out clearly enough I wanted the £3 burrito that all their signs were advertising. There was no mention of a different size or type or PRICE. The burrito itself was just a complete wet, soggy let down. It had ZERO flavour apart from the horrible after-taste of courgettes! they DO NOT belong in a burrito, especially when they are wet and soggy and limp! There were literally about 5 black beans and the sweetcorn, which again doesn't belong in there, just fell out all over the place. IF YOU WANT A BURRITO, STAY WELL CLEAR OF BURRITO CAFE. GO TO TORTILLA FOR £2.50 LESS AND GET A FAR BETTER MEAL.

This is a great spot for a tasty burrito. The food choices are straightforward: chicken, beef, pork or veggie; burritos. Simple. Plenty of choices of sauces and extra fillings. Prices are cheap, especially for central London.

Extremley disappointed with the groupon offer: only 3/4 tables and chairs huddled in tight corner unfriendly staff but most disappointing was the quality of food ordered through groupon voucher which was served after 20 minutes and churros were very soggy and definetley not cooked from fresh as had stale taste and heavy on the stomache the chocolate dip was very cheap quality chocolate mixed with icing sugar and only option of hot drink was coffee which was served after requesting three times from staff who was too busy chatting to a female colleague. In brief unappealing environment, bad quality food and poor customer care skills. I therefore do not recommend cafe burrito.

Thumbs up for the Living Social deal - something like £10 for two burritos, two beers, two lots of churros and hot drinks! Not bad!!! Burritos were great and we polished off the churros. We skipped the hot drink as the coffee looked a little instant-y (bleurgh) but other than that no complaints! Great deal and good value for money. Not sure I'd pay the full £7.50 for one burrito though....

We went along to sample the churros and chocolate sauce, which had been recommended by a friend. When we were there churros were tough rather than fluffy and only just warm rather than hot. We ate them, but we won't be hurrying back again. The staff were friendly, but it didn't really have a buzz about it, which was disappointing.

Went on a Thursday lunch time and the place was dead. Ordered two burritos and the containers were scraped in order to be able to fill them enough! The guacamole looked like a supermarket bought one, and the veg looked like it had been out for hours. A couple came in after me and were told it would be 20 minutes for the chef to send down some new meat! So many good burrito joints in London and unfortunately this isn't one of them.

This place was a great place to stop off for a quick bite to eat. I often used to pop in if I was on the way to a gig or off to the pub. The tastecard made it a bargain, and the very casual cafe style atmosphere worked well. However, I popped in on a Monday, having noted that the tastecard isn't on offer, hence was a bit reluctant. I was surprised with the improved decoration, tables and candles. A nice touch I thought. However, I then realised that the cafe is now trying to 'do service', which means I couldn't select what I wanted in my burrito. I was also dissuaded from having a hot sauce, and what I got was.... tasteless. I noted that the prices have gone up significantly - and for the new prices, it is better to go to Wahaca which has much better value given the prices are so similar now. We ate our disappointed burritos and left. Probably not to return.

I took my twins here in the summer holidays for a treat. Probably the worst ever. Not hot chocolate available. The Churros were frozen. We knew this as a plastic bag was on the floor with them in. When they arrived they tasted, as my daughter pointed out, like Chinese food. We can only assume they got their 5 spice and cinnamon in a muddle. Service was okay but management were awful. My kids didn't want any toppings on their nachos, so basically they wanted a portion on plan nachos. I was told the minimum price was £6.99, toppings or not. No forks were available to eat with. So not much of a treat.

We had a groupon for 2 x Burritos, beer, coffee, churros and chocolate and were not disappointed. The Burritos were packed with our choice of filling, and delicious. My husband preferred a soft drink over a beer and this was accommodated with no problems. The churros weren't the best admittedly, but I wouldn't let it put me off visiting again for a burrito and beer.Great little find and much preferred over standard fast food outlets.

We didn't know this place existed, we just walked in without any expectations. The atmosphere was good. We got a warm welcome and were seated. Tables are a bit small, and so are some of the seats. The waiter was very friendly and service was quick. After ordering we didn't have to wait long for our food (one beef burrito and a variety of tacos). The portions looked a bit small but in the end turned out to be large enough. The food isn't very spicy but tasted very nice. We found the price reasonable for the amount of food we got, and for the quality. I think we'll be back sometime.

The service was great and the spicy chipotle Chicken burrito was yummy. The beef burrito wasn't as tasty. We had a 2 for 1 meal voucher, which made the overall cost very reasonable. Without the discount it's quite pricey. I expected the venue to be like a subway with just takeaway facility, judging from photos. However the venue was nicer than expected. With cosy sofas and tables for eating in guests. Latin music and dimmed lighting.

I went last night to the Burrito Cafe to use my Groupon voucher. It felt like we had travelled quite far for what seems like a fast food chain but nonetheless we had a good time. It's in a good location, so we wandered around Tralfagar Square etc afterwards. The burritos are made to order (Subway/Chipotle style). If you want beef or guacamole, they charge extra so I stuck with the shredded chicken. The burrito was not bad but not amazing either. Tip: Don't ask for lime because they drench it and you end up with one hell of a soggy burrito!I was happy with the free beer. My friend and I enjoyed the Churros and coffee to be honest despite seeing negative reviews of this. Burrito Cafe is really just a fast food mexican place, but for the price we paid we were pleased. Also, I have seen some reviews on the service; the lady that served us was friendly and pleasant. All in all, the place and food is pretty average. I would prefer a burrito from Chipotle (down the next road!).

Came into the burrito cafe yesterday and was greeted with truly sub standard service. The workers didn't seem too clued up on what to do and more importantly, weren't very helpful as we decided what we wanted. We decided to go for Burritos, Churros and beers. Honestly, I have minimal complaints about the Burrito's but the Churro's were not french, salty and left quite a nasty after taste. I visited this cafe yesterday and was appalled at the manager's rude manner.I was going to order a chicken burrito and then I noticed (in tiny lettering) on the menu that the chicken is HALAL only. I do not eat halal and view it as an abhorrent and cruel practice but that is a different argument. As I do not eat any other type of meat, I could not eat at this cafe and had to sit and wait for all my friends to finish eating. I asked the manager why the chicken was halal only. He refused to answer my perfectly legitimate question. He flapped his arms and shooed me away!A complete and utter disgrace. I cannot ever recall being met such a bad attitude. As I sat down and waited for my friends, he continued displaying his offensive and bad manners to everyone else who had the misfortune of entering this sorry excuse of a cafe. The sour look on his face seems to be permanent feature of his, and it is enough to put anyone off their food.In summary: Shocking customer service that will leave a bad taste in your mouth. And if, like me, you disagree with halal torture of chickens, this place should be off limits for that reason too. Eat elsewhere. You have been warned.

I went here with the groupon meal for two with a friend but it was a waste of time and money. You don't save much and a touch of guacamole costs £2 extra - ONLY TO BE TOLD AFTER THEY'VE PUT IT IN. I don't have anything against the staff but they could be a bit friendlier and actually be able to communicate in English better. Pretty typical of many London eateries where staff actually don't have decent communication or customer service skills. Churos were made off-site and transported in freeze safe bags i suppose. Avoid and take your business elsewhere and let's start a movement against Groupon from marketing lame restaurants - I am not sure who is to blame more - Groupon or this place. Avoid at all cost

I have visited this place pretty frequently and i must say the burritos are pretty good. They are quite filling and tasty having been made with fresh ingredients and the chilli sauces gives a nice kick to it. Service is pretty fast and is always done with a smile. This is now my go to Mexican place when i am in the city. I have found that depending on who is serving, your burrito can be quite a bit smaller but i am sure if you asked for more filling they'd oblige.Notes:Vegetarians beware, though the staff change the gloves when you say your are vegetarian (a really nice and appreciated touch) i have noticed that when meat burritos are being made, as the staff pick the meat and bring it to the burrito, meat juice drips into the bean containers. This may be okay for some but am sure it will bother strict vegetarians who will unwittingly consume meat juices in their veggie burrito!Burritos don't keep well and go soggy so eat with a couple of hours (i'd be surprised if you had the willpower to not eat em so quickly!!)

Like many got a groupon voucher-large burrito, Sol beer, churros, and coffee for two - £15. So firstly a great deal, but if I have full price listed as around £32 on groupon I would be very disappointed. This review may seem harsh, for £15 for 2 it was great. BUT if I had visited without a voucher I think this review is fair.Service- I think I was served by the manager as he wasn't wearing a uniform, he had zero customer service skills. I had not been there before obviously as I had a groupon voucher and there was no greeting, or explanation of how it worked however brief, but fine a small thing but made the experience a bit less personal. it turned out it was like subway but with burritos. There were bits in other containers eg cheese in sour cream (again much like what happens at subway). He poorly made my burrito and it ripped as he was rolling it. He stopped and looked slightly awkward and carried on anyway, and wrapped it with sour cream on his hands meaning it went onto the foil which I was meant to hold to eat it by. Ironically I think the female member of staff, from what I saw was much better, explained things and seemed to roll burritos better. Food - was excellent value. It was huge and of reasonable quality even if not made very well. Churros average- warmed in a panini machine got out of a plastic box. All abit depressing when you love Mexican. Coffee-couldn't see any sugar, plastic cup. Average could've made it at home. Atmosphere - a bit amature, a couple of frayed straw hats on the walls, which I guess is trying to be Mexican? Spotify was playing. I know this because it wasn't premium so we periodically heard the ads. All of the above is fine when you pay £15 for two for 2 course and two drinks. But it isn't fine at full price. It was all abit depressing, and half hearted.

Groupon advertised the deal as worth £12 (saving £6) rather than £8 (saving £2).The churros came out of a pre-packed bag, heated in the panini machine and the filter coffee served in plastic cups. Not the fresh fried churros and excellent coffee that we were expecting and made the special trip for! Went here with my partner for a nice quick meal, and to be honest we weren't expecting much, however the place was really good. The interior of the restaurant (definitely more a restaurant than a cafe) was perfect, and had a lovely Mexican theme to it, and actually resulted in us eating in instead of getting take out. When this was added to one of the warmest welcome's i think i've had upon entering a restaurant in London, we really couldn't fault the place. The staff are so friendly and welcoming and really goes a long way to helping you enjoy your meal. And now the food - whilst you shouldn't go here expecting a gourmet meal, this is one of the best burritos i've had in London. The size of the meal is HUGE! I managed to eat about half of mine, and even my partner who can usually eat his own meal and then most of mine, was full by the end of his. But please don't think the quantity affected the quality - it absolutely doesn't and the food is really yummy! Just perhaps don't visit on a first date, as I'm not sure there is any way to eat these burritos without making a mess!

These people need to try proper churros before advertising and selling them. Then, there was no other drink option rather than simple machine coffee and common tea, not even the advertised refillable soft drink so we had to purchase something else for the kids. Overall I was highly disappointed and would never get churro's from there again, they were horrible. It's the first thing I look for when I'm in a new location.I hadn't tried the Burrito Cafe so I was looking forward to it. The chicken burrito was one of (if not the) best burrito I have had in London. It was a nice touch to have a pot of the three salsas on the counter to be able to dip a tortilla chip in to taste. I went for the extra hot and it was good. Service was really friendly. Sometimes when you are making use of an offer the portions seem a bit smaller or the service a bit rushed. Weekday lunch, service was friendly and fast and I applaud the range of items and including peppers. But it was a very dissapointing Burrito: pork very mildly spiced (flavour not heat) and watery, lettuce wilted, tomatoes unripe and guacamole too oniony/synthetic. And poor construction - yes this isn't tidy food, but no it shouldn't split in half before you open the foil.At £6.50 + £1 for guac, it's no contest versus Benito's Hat, Poncho 8, Chipotle, Chilango, Daddy Donkey or even Tortilla.

They are reasonably tasty, nothing to write home about when you compare to the likes of Benito's Hat, Freebird and Chipotle... it's really the quantity that makes them worth getting. This is all well and good but the service here is TERRIBLE, there are numerous times where I have ordered a large burrito and got a pitiful amount of meat... words cannot describe... to make it worse, there have been many occasions where both Chicken and Pork have both run out leaving only beef, which they still charge you the extra £1 for despite it being the only choice. Only having one meat at the start of the lunchtime rush is simply unacceptable, and then making you pay extra for it is ridiculous. The staff are hardly attentive, they get things wrong, gyp you on meat.I actually sent an email complaining about the service I had received and got no reply, this wouldn't happen anywhere else.Poor, Burrito Cafe, poor.

Visited Saturday early evening using groupon voucher. Found service to be very friendly and helpful and the burritos very nice . Small suplements are added if you want beef or other fillings but all in all the burritos were very filling, and with a beer as well this represented very good value for what would be described as fast food .Recommended.

With so many burrito shops around the area, the main thing that sets this one ahead is their large helpings of awesome burrito, friendly staff and good prices.

Passed the guy handing out the flyers for a long time without experimenting. Finally got round to having lunch there. Really friendly speedy service. They sell coke by the glass bottle. When I selected one I was offered an even cooler one from a special fridge. Nice touch.Great burritos, very tasty and nicely presented. Will definitely be back.

Being a burrito virgin I wasn't sure what to expect. The service was good, the lady wore gloves to make the food, and explained what we could have etc. However, two thirds down I my pulled pork burrito, I found god only ones what artery/aorta from a pig....hopefully. It resembled a mouse! If I work out how to, I'll upload the picture. Anyway....this should never have been cooked, let alone served!

I have been here a few times (which may sound strange given the rating I am awarding). It's good value with a Taste Card (meaning the burritos are half price so about £3 each). For this, I thought the place was okay - they're not the best burritos in town (and there are a lot of places like this now so the competition is increasing) but it seemed to have reasonably good ingredients and made tasty burritos. The staff are always helpful and friendly.Last week, I ate in the cafe and half way through my burrito noticed a mouse scurrying round one of the tables looking for food on the floor. It certainly hadn't just come in from outside as it looked very much at home, jumping back up into the seat bottom before coming out again a couple of minutes later.Part of me thinks that these things can happen in London (or anywhere for that matter). So out of curiosity, I looked at the official rating the Foods Standard Agency awarded this location. It scored 1 out of 5 which is defined as "Major Improvement Necessary". The inspection was done as recently as 31 July 2013 and so is up-to-date.On this basis, I would steer well clear of eating here from now on as it is apparent there are fundamental problems with food hygiene and safety at this location.

Staff are very professional and extremely friendly. Food tastes great. Store looks a little drab for central london. Cool, authentic music made me enjoy my food even more. Well done Burrito Cafe

The portion size of the naked burrito at the Kings cross branch used to be generous and good value for money. Over the last month, portion sizes have decreased and what used to be perceived as a good value lunch is now pretty expensive for the portion served. It's actually detered me from going there even though what you get is tasty.

I bought the voucher and went today. The burrito tastes alright, nothing special. The staff were friendly but seems inexperienced in serving the food. Overall it was okay.

So I brought a voucher via Groupon which enabled me to find this really cool place, located right in the heart of the city. The burritos are really nice, quit standard, looks like every other burrito place in London. However the big bonus this Burrito has, is the Refilled Soft Drink option which is a big plus in my opinion!I definetely recommend this place to anyone who love burritos like me.Ill be back.

The portion size was excellent and the flavours of all the ingredients combined really accentuated the whole flavour experience. The choice of ingredients to be able to pit in the burrito was exhaustive. The only improvement would be that the spice quantity could be higher in the chilli sauce!, to represent proper Mexican food.

Having tried a lot of different burrito shops in America, I can tell you these burritos are good with different healthy options. We had the pulled pork which was very juicy and tender and my daughter had a bowl with just chicken and cheese just the way the wanted it. The staff was very helpful and cordial. It seems a lot of people get the food to go because while eating our meal a lot of people stopped by to get lunch.

Wonderful service (visited both branches same day), I have half pulled pork, half chicken, half white rice, half tomato rice, half medium half hot sauce. That sauce combo is hotter than hot in Mission Burrito.A lot more flavour than Mission. Great decor too. Relaxed and fresh. Despite in London, same price as Reading.

I like it here. I have actually bought a voucher to go again because the food was tasty.Bought initially on Wowcher, and no re-advertised on Groupon.£9 for 2 Burritos and a bottle of Sol each.Very central - 5 mins from Charing Cross. It is not so much a restaurant, more like 'Subway' style with counter that you order from, and some café style seats. Not very big inside, but big enough for was is necessary.Great idea, as I love burritos. The burritos are very large! Very filling!I highly recommend this little place for a visit if you want a quick bite, out of the ordinary.

The soft drinks are refillable & there are a few tablets to eat at. Would definitely go here again. Very tasty & good location to Covent Garden!

My boyfriend and I came here for a pre-theatre dinner on a Friday evening. There are a few tables to sit at but this is more of a takeaway place.Food: burritos were yummy, well-filled and you can pick and choose what goes in them (subway style).Drinks: decent selection of drinks.Price: 2 for 1 with a Tastecard, making it excellent value. The food is priced pretty decently anyway for the West End. Tastecard isn't available on the meals though, just individual burritos.Overall, really good place for a quick, yummy meal.

Last month, I was able to buy a voucher via Wowcher that entitled me to two burritos and 2 beers for £9. I felt this was a good deal to purchase and new I would have the opportunity to use the voucher within the 3 month time frame. Having had burritos at places like Chipolte in the centre of London and also having been to Lupita in Villiers Street (between Embankment Tube and Charing Cross Station), £9 for 2 burritos alone was a good deal without the beer being included.I went on a Monday afternoon with my friend and only one other table was occupied at the time. I presented my voucher and we were offered the choice of 2 burrito sizes. We both opted for the large although I did not realise there would be a choice and since we are both vegetarian, we opted accordingly. I cannot complain as the burrito was filled with mixed peppers and courgettes, along with beans (a choice of 2), rice, (again a choice of 2), mixed salads, sauces and cheese. We could have as much or as little as we wanted and I felt there was no scrimping on portion size considering we were using the voucher. 2 bottles of beer was also included as part of the deal and I felt the burritos were tasty and the ingredients were fresh and flavoursome. I think 2 large vegetarian burritos without the beer would have cost £13 so I was more than happy with the £9 that had been paid. The burrito is certainly a filling enough to have and a quick and easy meal.I have no hesitation in recommending this branch of burrito café and would certainly considering having another burrito from here when I am next in the area and need something to eat.Venues serving up burritos and similar Mexican food seem to be springing up everywhere and this place certainly did not disappoint. There are around 6 to 8 tables to eat inside and while we were eating on this visit, only one other table was occupied at the same time.

The cafe was difficult to find as I had a voucher bought earlier the same day on line, which gave as the address Charring Cross. Having come across the cafe, quite by chance now, it was empty, on enquiring if they were closing, we were told no not untill 11 pm this was around, 5-30 pm.The food was average nothing inspiring, but the young woman who served us was friendly helpful and polite, which goes a very long way to make up for an otherwise non event. The cafe was clean, but the food was not the legal hot hold temperature of 63 celcius, and there was nothing to indicate the length of time the food had been sitting on display.

It was only by chance that I ended up having a burrito here before going to a nearby theatre. There was a guy giving leaflets offering a free drink and I decided to go there. I had had a couple burritos before somewhere else and wasn't particularly impressed, but the food here was truly tasty. First impression is a bit like a Subway, as you can see all the ingredients and ask them to make what you want while you wait. Then there is a seating area at the back, and the loo is downstairs. I went for a large chicken burrito, and was able to choose all the ingredients (1 quid extra for guacamole) with a free mineral water, total 7.50 quid. Friendly and helpful staff, they had some nachos with the sauce options for you to try the hot, medium or mild sauce... the hot sauce was not scarily hot so I went for that one and truly enjoyed the kick.Service is extemely fast, they make your burrito (or other option) in a minute, you pay and there you go. Chicken was delicious, the guacamole was very nice, and the meal was truly filling for the rest of the day. I really enjoyed it and will certainly look for this place anytime I end up close to this area. They also had bags of nachos for 1.50, but I was on my own and thought that they were a perfect size to share but a bit too big for only one person, so I had to pass. Never mind, the burrito was so filling that I wouldn't have been able to have a full bag of nachos too!

I went in recently with my wife and mother. We received top notch service, from speedy and smiling staff who guided us, burrito novices, through the varieties on offer. When we got the food it was tasty and filling and set us up for an afternoon of sightseeing in the nearby national gallery. I went for the naked burrito, which was lovely and had plenty of meat in it, I had the hot salsa which was spicy and fresh tasting. A highly enjoyable experience which is a rarity in central London fast food restaurants.

What can I say, one of the best burrito's I've tasted, better even than the Burrito Boyz in my home city of Toronto which make some good burrito's. Great, quick service, good quality food and being a tourist in London it was very affordable. I will be back for more when I'm back in London.

Went a couple of weeks ago - a really good experience, staff were very friendly, portion size was more than generous and most importantly it tasted really delicious. I had the pork, which was really flavoursome and tasted like it had been cooked for hours. The guacamole is excellent too - tasted so much better than the stuff you get from a supermarket! There is loads of choice with regards to what extras you want - I had a squeeze of fresh lime, jalapenos and the hot salsa. Looking forward to my next visit - want to try the quesadilla!

We were sat across the road drinking coffee and thought what a nice little clean place this looked, a couple of hours later feeling hungry it seemed like a great choice for a quick lunch. We ordered a beef burrito and a chicken quesadilla, both of which were constructed kin front of us, a little bit subway style, ingredients other than the meat were two types of beans, tow types of rice, guacamole, cheese and sweetcorn, amongst other things, oh and of course a range of salsas, we chose the hot one. The quesadilla also came with a portion of tortilla chips of the side, we rather foolishly opted to go large, but will probably stick with regular next time as there was so much food, however large was only £1 extra. The food was so delicious, really fresh and very tasty, we have been to Cancun a few times and never had food this good, for some reason the 5 star hotels think that people wouldn't want something this good for lunch! Not sure why. We will be back for more. Well done!!

Do NOT buy from this place. The food quality is very poor. Meat portions on burritos and boxes are very stingy to push for people to pay for a double portion. If you have allergens then tough luck because staff handles ingredients without washing hands or changing gloves. Not only that but also the staff is very rude and can barely speak basic English. Terrible excuse for Mexican food and not even fairly priced

Came here for lunch. Service was very quick, food was delivered within 10 minutes of entering. I had the el pastor tacos. I felt that although the flavours were good the meat was quite dry and not as great as similar tacos I have had elsewhere. It was an ok lunch with no major issues, but I’m not enthused to come again

I was a fan of Poncho 8 for a long time. Their spicy pork Burrito was a Regular Friday treat. Having visited today Poncho 8 is no longer one of the places that I will recommend to visiting friends and colleagues. Today’s Burrito was a massive disappointment. The staff were glum and unhelpful, not a smile amongst them. The burrito was half the size of past Burrito with very little content a complete disappointment. Poor value for money... Poncho 8 has more dropped off a cliff than let its standards slide. Poncho 8 are putting profits ahead of the product they provide :(. Avoid! Many more better places to eat in London.
