Very slow service, forgot orders

Stopped off here after traveling 1.5hours having a good experience in another Marstons pub few days earlier thought I would try the one close to home. Ordered at the bar, asked where preferable to sit and wait for my food. The bar steward just looked at me blankly and said anywhere. Found a seat at a table at the end of the bar waited patiently for my food to arrive. Keeped looking to see if I could see a server bring it out. An Hour goes by I report back to the bar and was told by the bar steward that my food was ready and he had been looking for me. I told him where I was sat literally next to the bar where i could see him he didnt leave the bar to find me. 2 seconds later he brings me my food stone cold and the burger had lost all heat and moisture. I was so hungry and disappointed at this point I didn't want to send it back and wait for it to be remade so I ate it begrudgingly. No apologies or attempt to make up for the fact it took so long to give me the food I ordered or even offered to refresh the meal.

We went for lunch here and the pub itself was nice and staff were good, I was just a bit disappointed with the food. The macaroni cheese potion was small and the garlic bread a bit chewy. My husband had the vegetable chilli which he said was nice but again quite a small portion. However he loved the jam sponge for dessert!!!

Carlos and the team are great, couldn't do enough. I went for a couple of cheeky drinks Christmas day to let the kids play with their new toys, but I was late and they were just about to close up. Not a problem he said and let me stay for the drinks while having a great chat about Brazil.... sacrificing his time for others. A proper landlord. Thank you

I originally came to find out if the Liverpool vs man united game was on. The lady I was speaking to didn’t really understand what I was saying, because she was Spanish I think. I saw someone in there I knew, so I asked them & thankfully the game was going to be on. I left after that. I came back an hour later (4:30pm) to watch the biggest game in English Football. My plan was to get something to eat at Half Time. I sat and watched the first half with others sat around me backing both clubs respectfully. People were chatting away discussing the match and personal matters and I just sat there fixated on the game. Once half time arrived, I approached the bar and asked if the kitchen was open. This person understood me thankfully, but unthankfully, they remarked the kitchen was closed. I decided to get myself a Pepsi instead. As she used the pump, I ensured she was to use the full fat Pepsi, as at previous times, I’ve received Pepsi max. After me asking, “are you using full fat?” She replied,”I’m a mum and we don’t get things wrong?” I chuckled as she handed me my drink and I then took my seat to prepare for the second half. I also treated myself to some dry roasted nuts, as the kitchen was closed. I decided to make conversation with a spectator of the match and asked him who he was supporting. Of course he said Man United, as they’re the biggest club in England, like myself. We discussed the team, in regards to who should play, leave, tactics e.t.c. I found him really interesting. I chose the sit with him for the second half. By full time, my bag of nuts were almost empty. I was kind enough to share them with the new buddy I met, which I really liked! The game ended 0-0 and I was thoroughly satisfied as I knew it was going to be a really difficult game away to our biggest rivals who were top of the league. The other united fan however, was discontent with how we played out with the ball, which I understood. Countless times we couldn’t keep the ball for more than 5 passes, however we defended excellently well and limited Liverpool to half chances. He was nice enough to buy me a drink, but he got Pepsi max 😟. I was nice enough to drink it though and I was grateful, as there not enough nice people out there. We discussed more football, and we ended up adding each other on Facebook. He shook my hand and said, “it was nice to meet you.” He then left. I left not long after that and really enjoyed my time there, in terms of service, atmosphere, the reception and the drinks and nuts. Speaking of the service, the new bartender did approach me towards the end of the second half, whilst I was fixated on the game to tell me the kitchen was open again. The timing couldn’t of possibly been worse, but it was nice of her to acknowledge me

All round an amazing service, Mixed grill was amazing and the burger did look nice too, the service from the bar staff was fantastic and will be going back there again.

Was on Monday 2pm so can't really expect an atmosphere but if yiu walk into a pub and menus are on tables you expect them to be doing food turns out kitchen is closed on Mondays therefor menus should not be on tables also Carlsberg was quite flat

I had my birthday party in the private room space at The Burnt Oak and had the best evening I could have wished for! The staff were lovely especially Lukas!! The food was amazing. I would definitely recommend to anyone considering to host a celebration!

Spent this weekend at The Burnt Oak. Had a brilliant night dressing up for the Halloween Party Friday and finished off with their regular Karaoke Night, the staff were brilliant getting us up and dancing!

Went to The Burnt Oak Halloween Party on Friday and had a brilliant time, it was great to see the staff dressed up, service was super quick considering it was so busy and loved dancing with everyone to the SKAvangers.

I had an Amazing time at the Halloween Party 27/10/23. The decorations, atmosphere and bar staff were wonderful. And the band Skavengers just topped it off! Can’t wait till next year!!

Quite little pub when I arrived, the service was good and even had life football on the big screen. Ample parking overall nice place to get a few drinks. I did not order any food so can't comment.

We hosted our engagement do in the private room space at The Burnt Oak and had the best evening we could have wished for! Affordable prices and decent food for the price of it! The atmosphere is good especially on their band nights and karaoke nights.

Not a bad place to stop off for a quick meal. Food is very much akin to a Hungry Horse/Harvester. Staff were friendly and polite.

Food was great, atmosphere was excellent definitely will visit again, next time I'll get the ultimate chicken burger in stead of the steak, not saying the steak wasn't good because it was excellent, my mother's and wife's burger looked so amazing

We went there at Saturday afternoon and we had an awesome experience, good ambient nice hot food, with a fair price. I recommend the dessert which was amazing.

Didn’t feel like a family pub at all, just seemed to a drunken pub. The food was cold and didn’t revive the food as stated on the menu. My mums steak came out rare when I ordered it medium. Only thing that gives this place hope is that their staff hav a VERY small friendly side to them.

Bad experience. Can’t comment on the food as we didn’t get any! Booked a table, though the person taking the booking muttered something about one of the rooms being booked out, but said they could accommodate us in the main bar area (never been to the pub before so didn’t mean much to me). On arrival, no welcome whatsoever and no real acknowledgement of the booking. Said they couldn’t take a food order just now and would come over to us in a bit. But then showed no interest in us at all. Waited another 20 minutes, finished our drinks and left! Walked up to the Old Beams and had a nice meal there with helpful service throughout, despite them being very busy. Awful service (Burnt Oak) - won’t be going back there again.

Was OK small pub and the guy behind the bar had no idea what to do on the till. Also no deals on drinks such as wkd which was disappointing for the missus. Not bad but probably won't go back.

Plenty of parking spots and the staff was very receptive, and the environment was fantastic with nice lounge music, and excellent food with good menu options.

We were a party of 17. We were given the function room, which was perfect. The negatives were ....we ordered starters, which sadly came out at the same time as the main and actually 2 of the starters, came out at the very end once 2 of our guests had already eaten their main. The curry was quite watery, and the nan bread was tough and a little dry. The cheese wasn't melted on the cheesy chips, and the service was a little sporadic and took quite a while, we then had to clear our own tables, putting the plates onto other tables so we could cut and serve a birthday cake that we had brought. All of that said, PLEASE DON'T let any of that put you off going. The staff were incredibly attentive and honestly couldn't do enough for us if we asked. The fish was probably the best fish I and one other guest had ever had. It was absolutely faultless. There were also no complaints from other meals, the burgers, the scampi, the steak, etc. Despite my negatives, I would recommend anyone to try The Burnt Oak. I can't reiterate enough how lovely the staff were, and on reflection, my negatives weren't the end of the world. We were a large party, having a lovely time. I would definitely go back.

We could not have asked for a worse experience. On arriving we were harassed for payment. This set the tone for what was to come. I asked if I could have a piece of lamb, and the answer was blunt no. The starters were cold and probably the worst presented I have ever seen in my life. The main course was brought through with no Yorkshire pudding or stuffing. The table was not set. The Christmas crackers were dropped on the table. I complained to the chef and he started to scream and shout at us in front of the clients. The table behind us complained and received the same brash harsh treatment. A group of 10 came in and demanded a refund. The one table called the police. We were mocked by the lady behind the counter serving drinks. My dinner for my family on Christmas day was destroyed. We want a full refund and an official apology.

Shocking Christmas day experience, staff swearing at customers, frozen food and items missing from plates (staff no idea what a Yorkshire pudding is!) Refusal of a refund and police called against the staff!! Never visit this pub!!!!!!

Place is ok. Food looks reasonably priced but average quality, nothing gourmet. There are a few screens, one is large. Parking ok.

Had a works xmas party. The room was cold. The table cutlery wasn't set out The table didn't have any crackers on the table- we had to ask! Booked the table 2 months ago, nothing about pre ordering or deposit, rang 1 month ago to double check we didn't need to pre order food or need a deposit ( both times I was told it was fine and just turn up.) Then had a phone call 2 days b4 saying I needed to order the food and leave a deposit. Out of the 12 people who attended the Christmas meal, no one enjoyed it!!

Amazing night out and the live band was brilliant

Party of 4 adults. There were several menu items that were unavailable - steak & ale pie, apple crumble, appletizer. I ordered a lasagne instead, but it wasn't heated through, the edges of both bruscetta were burnt, and the plate garnish (?) salad (?) consisted of a pile of heavily wilted lettuce leaves only - inedible.

No real ales, no food as no chef We had to clear our own table Not even sure why you opened

It was a good visit. The music provided a good atmosphere and the staff were lovely. Adapting to a new children's menu, portions weren't quite right, but staff were quick to offer this to be remedied. The food itself was good, and though the chilli topping on my meal was A little smaller than hoped, it was tasty. My son is autistic and easily distressed. The staff were respectful and helpful. Menus themselves were nicely designed, though a little sticky. No complaints overall, and a place we will be returning to.

Only come here for a beer on a warm day, the alcohol selection was basic so can't really give more than a 3* review.

Worst experience I've ever experienced. Nathan and lexy and richie was so rude and didn't make me and my group of friends will comfortable and service was so bad worse ive ever had and I work as a manger in hospitality and pub work. Won't be visiting again.

We chose this pub to meet together as a family to celebrate my daughter's birthday. I can honestly say I had probably the worst meal ever. I ordered roast beef. When it first arrived after some considerable wait, the vegetables were cold. I informed the waitress and she apologised and took it back to the kitchen. When my second meal arrived the beef was so tough, and the Yorkshire pudding was rock solid. Various family members ordered other meals, there were hardly any chips on the children's plates. The knives and forks were very flimsy. Really disappointed. I did mention to the waitress that if a refund was forthcoming I would be grateful, but when we left she just averted her gaze.

The service was horrendous as well as the food. We were sat waiting for our food for 2 1/2 hours for it to come out stone cold and missing parts of the meal. The glasses for the drinks were covered in lipstick! What a waste of money and time.

Will not go again. Moderate cost . As the name says everything was burnt and tasted like burnt oak wood. We ordered cowboy burger, chicken breast, lasagne and kids meal. Only food that we were able to pass through our throat was lasagna. Our fork was broken in an attempt to cut chicken breast and burger patty was like rubber slippers (flip flops). Family next to us had same and raised concerns. Nothing much we can do when we go for exploring local foods. I felt the disappointment of Colombus (at least he landed in proper land) . Definitely needs lots of improvement. Good place for quick drink and chips. Tesco is right opposite, grab some food there.

Popped in for a couple of beers as not from the area. Very welcoming, friendly lass behind the bar advising on best value. Was quiet but comfortable & very clean. I did hear staff going round asking (regulars) if tv was too loud, just right etc. Good, tasty, cold lager!
