Burnout BBQ in Oxford

Tried out the new BBQ burnout in westgate Oxford and was disappointed. While the service was fine, the food wasn't. The meat was luke warm, and the flavour wasn't great. Come back tommys, at least you cooked food to order so it was always fresh.

Good: Booked for 5pm, and was sat down quickly and on time for our booking. The food tasted phenomenal and came in large quantities. But the bad points: Although being seated quickly, the menus were thrown on the table with no communication and returned 5 mins later to say we need to order at the bar. Upon ordering we spent £80 on food to be told there was no onion rings or corn but gave us an alternate side. We then had to wait just over an hour for food to arrive. 20 mins later, three quarters of the way through our meal, we was told the next booking had arrived and that they need our table. Despite 2 large tables finished just after we sat down, and they were still there after we left and hadn’t ordered any extra food. For £80 and an hour wait for food, I don’t appreciate being moved on so quickly… despite me not feeling finished or food being settled after a heavy meal. Didn’t even get a chance to look at desserts.

Was recommended this place and what a recommendation the food was fabulous with good variety and loads on the plate staff were very friendly and atmosphere found me silently singing to the tunes, all in all a very excellent experience

Popped into the Westgate in Oxford on Saturday to try Burnout, ordered the Tex Mex brisket bun and the Pulled Pork loaded fries…..both were amazing, the bun was packed with juicy brisket and the chilli jam gave it a nice kick. The loaded fries were seasoned well and topped with a generous amount of pulled pork, cheese, pickles and bbq sauce. The staff were all lovely and with no long wait for anything topped it off, obviously it wasn’t a restaurant setting being a shopping centre food hall but there was plenty of seats and a very informal atmosphere, we will definitely be going back again and trying some of the other items on the menu.

attended all locations and they are absolutely brilliant, tried the westgate one and it was not up to the others expectations, even part of the meet was really fatty and under cooked , staff didn't seem to know what they was doing and wasn't very accommodating when asked what's best to eat and where to collect your order from

There are restaurants that fail because they are too bold, too ambitious for their own good. Burn Out Bar-B-Cue in Oxford is not one of them. It fails in the most pedestrian, soul-crushing way: by being a monument to rudeness, bad taste, and the kind of arrogant complacency that only comes from never having had to earn one’s place. Let’s begin with the so-called hostess—a blonde woman whose temperament can only be described as a cross between a DMV clerk and a jaded traffic warden. Her greeting (if it qualifies as one) was less hospitality, more border control. One gets the sense that she isn’t paid to make guests feel welcome, but to remind them they’re a nuisance. Rudeness is an art form in some cultures; here, it’s just bad upbringing weaponized by a name tag. Service was not merely inattentive—it was spiteful. The waitstaff carried themselves with the moral urgency of a Roman senator being asked to clear his own plate. Every request, no matter how modest, was met with a cocktail of disdain and passive aggression. One wonders if the staff have been trained in reverse hospitality, a kind of anti-service ethos where the goal is to maximize customer regret. The food? Irrelevant. In a place where human interaction is this degrading, the food could be a Michelin miracle and it would still taste like shoe leather. (It wasn’t, for the record—it was lukewarm, over-sauced, and as emotionally vacant as the atmosphere.) To dine here is to witness the entropy of civility—how institutions rot not from financial collapse, but from the quiet cancer of small indignities. Burn Out is not merely a bad restaurant. It is a parable about what happens when you let mediocrity marry attitude. Avoid it the way you’d avoid a Ponzi scheme or a philosophy seminar run by undergrads. There are better ways to be insulted in Oxford. At least the dons quote Cicero.

Loved the food as always, favourite food to eat. Service is 10/10 very chatty and helpful. The atmosphere and music is great and love the vibe they have in there. Will definitely be back, always recommend

I had an amazing experience at this restaurant! The food was absolutely delicious, full of flavor, and perfectly cooked. I tried the philly cheese , and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. The portions were generous, and everything was fresh and well-seasoned. The service was also excellent. The staff was very friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed. The atmosphere was great, with a nice vibe that made the meal even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food and outstanding service. I will definitely be coming back!

Absolutely fantastic food! Can't fault any of it. It tasted great with generous portions. Staff were really friendly and helpful. It was a perfect place to eat. Although I don't have any photos of the food as I took advantage of the 10% discount for locking my phone away, I can only describe it as amazing. 😅

Food portions are large and you are expected to eat within an hour and 30minutes which isn’t a problem provided your food was hot when delivered which it wasn’t and then once replaced to be told we had 10mins to finish and yet we had only been there for 1 hour! After spending £77 not impressed- imagine if we had ordered the Valentine menu which was 3 courses!

They Accommodated really well on a Sunday afternoon for nine of us including two in high chairs. We had enough room, the team that were on shift were amazingly friendly and catered to our needs really well. The food was flawless, incredible portions and tasted absolutely delicious!!! Can’t wait to go back and try more from the menu!

Service is unbelievably poor and the prices are absolutely ridiculous. I waited 50 minutes for chips. There is absolutely no excuse for that regardless of how busy the restaurant is. The food should come out quickly as none of it is fresh. Joke

Overpriced, takes ages, not worth it.

The service is quick and prompt and the food is perfect for a drive by stop in town. The atmosphere can be a bit dry sometimes, but overall a good place to have a meal. Would recommend.

Came to Oxford for the weekend and ate here after a long day. Portions are massive, meat is melt in the mouth and the staff are friendly. Great little place

Phoned on Wednesday for table for Friday table for 2 got there no reservation got asked to wait at table till someone left was not happy with that so left me dad come down from Middlesbrough for my birthday to see me and we ended up leaving not the best birthday tbh

Overall experience was fantastic!! Only a small restaurant (I think maybe 10 tables?) so recommend booking in advance if possible. First time so we tried the sharing platter so that we could experience as much of the menu as possible... Now, we're big eaters, but still took home a box full! Service was great, friendly and down to earth but very laid back vibes. The food was exceptional - not a single part didn't go down well. Seasoned fries, salted corn, huge selection of dips, and all of the meat - ribs, wings, burnt ends, pulled pork and brisket - were absolutely outstanding and cooked to perfection. We will absolutely be back, and soon, too - especially for more brisket and burnt ends!

This American-style restaurant emphasizes the rich flavor of grilled steaks and takes the à la carte route. This time I ordered two burgers (Buffalo chicken and Beef meltdown) plus a grilled chicken wing and a bottle of Coke. It tastes really good and the steaks are juicy. Coupled with the thick sauce, it tastes very satisfying and is a filling burger. It seems that you have another choice when you are craving for food!

Had some take away food from truck in Marcham happened to serve same happened to be run by the same owners as this restaurant. It was delicious.have no pic as it was take away and finished before i even got back to my car ! If it is as good as BBQ chicken burger Must be fantastic ! OXFIRD. CHEF

Visited at 8 on a wet Wednesday, so no trouble getting a seat. This is pretty authentic stuff. I opted for the burnt ends tray, which was easily enough for two. Probably 200g of meat, a smoked sausage, pot of beans, slaw, gravity, another 200g of chips, a cob of corn and a bun (American Yorkshire pudding thing). For me, the burnt ends weren't burnt anywhere near enough, anthe sauce was too sweet, but that's personal taste. Go if you like food with a Southern States vibe (just without any chili's).

Had a lovely dinner with the wife and kids. We had the platter to share and couldn't finish it so had to put it in boxes to take home. Slightly expensive for what it was and parking is a c××t but overall if your passing it's worth a stop.

Small venue, one mixed toliet in an American theme. Others in the party loved the brisket but the buttermilk chicken I had was barely edible which was a shame. Large portions but don't go for the chicken.

I had the best time at burnout, I would like to give a MASSIVE thank you to the waitress, Sharday. She was extremely helpful with helping me what to eat giving her own recommendations and what she thinks I would like. Her service throughout my whole time here was more than excellent and made me feel really welcome 🤗. Due to this service I am 100% going back to eat again and I will be telling all of my family/ friends to come here. Amazing restaurant!

We came here for my nans birthday. When booking it asked us if we was booking for any occasion which we was, so I selected birthday. The staff went out of their way to make a birthday sign for us. I’ve experienced multiple times at OTHER/DIFFERENT restaurants where they ask if your celebrating an experience and you select yes and they don’t do anything in response which is fine but why ask? Any way…. Burt out bbq when above and beyond and they took good care of us and and pay attention to detail. Food was tasty (and my nan is quite fussy and she enjoyed it) and customer service was fantastic. They helped bring my nans party to life and we’re so very accommodating. I recommend 🥰

Went here a few weeks back and the food was not nice at all couldn't eat it , Shame as this pace is highly recommended, One bar staff not helpful , but the other bar staff was quiet helpful, On this I don't think we will return

The place was pretty full so we had the takeout option and waited at the bar with a pint. The wait wasn't too long. And the food was gorgeous I went for dirty fries aswell. All in all was a very nice burger and lovely dirty fries. Definitely recommend

I have had many deliveries and dined in twice, the food is always mouth watering! The staff were very accommodating to the stag party and when I returned for my birthday they decorated with balloons and a happy birthday sign! 5 stars just doesn't do justice to how delicious this food is!

Great music. Personally my favourite kind. Country, blues guitar. Service was warm and friendly, was shocked that the price was so low. So worth it. The owners are doing something right . And nothing is skipped out on. All ingredients good quality. Beans interesting. I’d recommend them to allow tips on card payment as I felt I wanted to tip. But was unable. Will be returning here soon. So much food, I couldn’t eat it but they allow you to take it home so that’s great too .

Gosh, I really dislike leaving negative reviews, but upon reflection, I think if I were the owner of Burnout, I'd want to know if I was losing business over something that could be easily fixed. The food is really quite good, but after ordering more than a few times, I have come to genuinely feel like Burnout don't want to do takeaway orders or in person orders to pick up if its not deliveroo. We've had 4 or 5 negative experiences with takeaway orders, both over the phone, in person, or via the app. When talking to the front of house staff, it feels like talking to somebody who doesn't really care and would rather not be there. This would be perfectly fine if the service came through without issue, but that's not been the case in our experience; we've had frustration with mixed up orders, food requests being ignored, being forced to use an app (that is unstable), and being refused telephone orders when the app fails with little remorse, frankly. Which has left me feeling that Burnout is 'risky' and 'not worth the trouble' for larger orders, which is sad because, as I said at the outset, the food is really quite good. Hope it can be remedied somehow, thanks for all the ribs.

You really get what you pay for here. The meal sizes are monstrous and the meat is absolutely divine melt in the mouth perfection.

As an American living in the UK, I was so happy to run across this place! We had the ribs, pulled pork, brisket and burnt ends. All of it was delicious. Great sauces. Even the gravy was good! Only addition I would make to the menu is cornbread, but the dinner rolls were great! Wish I lived closer to Oxford!

Burnout BBQ is an absolutely amazing American dinner/ bbq resturant. They have great service and bring your food fast so you can enjoy it as fast as possible. I highly recommend going there especially on the weekend so you can order there burnout box.

I recently visited this restaurant and was thoroughly impressed. The garlic and Parmesan breaded wings were absolutely delicious—crispy on the outside and bursting with flavor. The ribs were wonderfully tender and full of rich, smoky goodness. I also tried the hot dog, which was a delightful surprise with its perfect balance of spices and toppings. Overall, a fantastic dining experience with great food that I highly recommend!

Visiting this lovely restaurant today with my mum who has been very ill and has had no appetite for some weeks due to medication and an illness, and is also quite frail, we were looked after by the most wonderful waitress, Lauren, who really encourage my mum to order some food, that would really suit the small appetite that she’s got. Lauren was incredible encouraging my mum to order something fairly simplistic, plain chicken bites and fries, I must have had ribs and chips. Lauren was exceptional. I went the extra mile to make my mum feel welcome and not a toy stupid as my mum was embarrassed that she’s very frail and hasn’t really had food for some weeks due to a major illness. It was lovely food and we will go back and thank you Lauren for being such a wonderful kind support to my mum

With our hotel abit out of the city centre we were apprehensive about finding a restaurant we clicked with but this went above and beyond- with really cool decor to delightful, flavourful and filling food it was an experience to come here and we will definitely be back!

Really good food, brilliant value as well

Easily the best full on Americana I’ve had outside of America itself. Food is indulgent and delicious, service and atmosphere are great, and waiting times are brief. A real hidden gem highly recommend it to anyone in the area.

I was told by 2 separate staff members that the chicken was halal at 2 different times for the chicken burger. Now I'm told by another staff member only the chicken wings are halal meaning I had the chicken burger twice when it wasn't halal. Do they even know what halal means?

First time getting a takeaway and I wish I had booked a table because it was a lovely restaurant and the atmosphere was amazing We placed our order and then we was seated at a table to wait 15 minutes or so It was so worth the wait and because the music was good the time flew We we arrived home opened our bun boxes and it was like a gift in its self it was the perfect size and became the plate I was astonished how the bun was restaurant quality in a box amazing The food was banging it was full of flavour and totally somewhere I will definitely be returning.5 stars doesn’t do this justice but thank you for the great food x

Lovely food. We had the ribs which were very tender with BBQ sauce. The waitress was very helpful and gave us a very nice welcome . We have dined here before and will be visiting again.

Came here for my boyfriend’s birthday and we had a fabulous time!! The staff were so attentive and friendly , and they even decorated the table and gave him a birthday dessert!! The food was amazing and the place looks really cool inside. I would definitely recommend this place and we can’t wait to come back with friends!

Went here for my son's birthday. I had chicken wings and ribs and my husband had brisket beef, absolutely delicious. The staff were so friendly and helpful and brought out the birthday cake for my son. Went here again today. Had ribs and sweet potatoe fries. Lovely.

This place is a must visit. First time going here but definitely we will come back. It's a little bit pricey but you pay for how its served and how it looks the place and the food. Quick service and the ladies who work there are really kind. Food was really good. We had the bucket with ribs, chicken wings, fries and onion rings & fries with pulled pork. Im not fun of the meat usually but i really enjoyed of the fries with pulled pork. My husband said the ribs were really delicious too. Corn is something i always ordered if its on the menu, but i wouldn't order again here. Not my taste, it was too watery and had very heavy butter taste. However we are definitely coming back to try something new.

Lovely little spot! There’s not much in the way of good BBQ diners around Oxford. The halloumi bites and “chicken wings” weren’t great, the ribs were a bit too chewy, the brisket was a little dry. That being said, super awesome place to come and pig out! The portions were massive, loads of options on the menu so something for everyone. the sauces are to die for and although the brisket & ribs aren’t perfect in terms of tenderness & moisture, they are really tasty and packed full of flavour. The milkshakes were also amazing. If you come here usually you’ll spend between 20-40 pp but definitely worth it because you will absolutely leave with a full belly. Will be back.

The brisket bun and buffalo chicken burger were so good I would die for them and I loved the American style and decorations. This is the review my 12 year old boy gave me! I could lock my phone in a cage to get 10% off too👌

If you starved for good barbecue and live in Oxford, this is going to be a surefire hit. I'd recommend visiting on Friday, Saturdays and Sundays when they have the BBQ box options, which offer the best value for money

We are an American and British duo. I'm the American and I ordered the chili cheese hot dog (upgraded to beef) with brisket fries which I added American cheese to. My husband had the waffle beef taco and the burnout full throttle. Ordered one milkshake and a couple sodas. The food was okay, but we feel this place is overly hyped and overpriced. We spent a total of $87 here. We've had brisket at several other places in the area and it was comparable in flavor and quality. (Served in Mexican food and Asian cuisine). The hot dog had good flavor and was generously portioned. My brisket fries were a let down. We paid extra for adding American cheese (as nacho cheese) and they put the smallest drizzle. After eating the top layer of the fries, the rest was left very dry and lacking so I couldn't finish it. My husband thought his waffle taco was a good concept, but we agree the food itself is average. Good food ideas but without proper execution, it's just an average food place.

Eaten here twice, the service and atmosphere are spot on, sadly the food seems to be lacking seasoning on both occasions. If you're looking for bbq, in Oxford, this is one of only a few options. The pulled pork is probably your best bet. I found the beef brisket a little plain. Adding some less heavy bbq items to the menu might tempt me back. The pin needs updating but you'll find it from the picture's.

Distinctive venue in Summertown that I was keen to try. Fun lay out with a 1950's American diner vibe. Menu not huge but wider options from Friday through the weekend. Not an impressive choice of wines, but I doubt that is an issue for the demographic who attend who fit the criteria of 'young'.

Myself and my partner love the food here, the staff are always friendly and the food is always amazing, it is also extremely good value for money considering the amount of food you get, you never leave hungry. When we got to the resturante they were in the middle of serving a pretty big booking and the other tables were all reserved (we were getting a takeaway) we ordered our food and was told there would be a little bit of a wait as they had the large booking in, we asked how long roughly and the young lady behind the bar told us a minimum of 20 minutes, however she wasn't 100% sure how long it would be, not a problem, we went and waited outside as we did not want to be in the way (we were told we could wait inside), maybe 15 minutes later we popped back in and we were apologised to and told we could sit at a table and our food would be out shortly. After about 10 more minutes of waiting our food was brought to us by the young lady behind the bar, she came with two bags and lots of appologies for our wait. We had our food in one bag and 2 complimentary bottles of coke in the other. We had waited litrally 5 more minutes then we had been quoted at the bar and we were told at the bar that 20 minutes would be the minimum time, yet despite this this young lady still went above and beyond to apologise for the wait. We could see they were busy and of course its a Friday night so we had expected to wait and were in no rush at all. This place is amazing and i can not fault the service, the staff or the food. Thank you.

They made our room look fancy and modern. They were super neat and always cleaned up after working. They listened to what we wanted and had great ideas that fit our style.

The place is supposed to look like an American diner. While the outcome is debatable, the food was abysmally bad. The service was actually good and we tried our best to like the experience. However, the food was truly not acceptable.

American theme is killing it, food is Incredible, and people are so kind. I honestly think this is one of the best food places I've been to.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Burnout BBQ, and I can honestly say that it was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. The restaurant is located at 263 Banbury Road, Oxford, OX2 7HN, United Kingdom. It's a bit of a trek from the city center, but it's well worth the journey. The restaurant is housed in a beautiful old building with a rustic charm. The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, and they made me feel right at home. I started my meal with the pulled pork nachos, which were absolutely delicious. The pork was tender and flavorful, and the nachos were topped with a generous amount of cheese, salsa, and sour cream. For my main course, I had the smoked brisket, which was cooked to perfection. The meat was so tender that it fell apart with the touch of a fork, and it was packed with flavor. I also had a side of mac and cheese, which was creamy and cheesy. To finish my meal, I had the chocolate brownie, which was warm and gooey. It was the perfect way to end a perfect meal. I highly recommend Burnout BBQ to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic barbecue experience. The food is amazing, the staff is friendly, and the atmosphere is warm and inviting. I'm not a fan. All the BBQ sauce was incredibly sweet, not in the fun Texas brown sugar way, and the brisket was swimming in it which is incredibly weird for me. Might be a difference in taste between US and UK though. But definitely not for me.

Since moving from the US to the UK five years ago, one of the things I've missed most is the lack of decent BBQ food. No one in the three cities I've lived in has ever done pulled pork or brisket the way we do back home - until now. This is the place I'll come whenever I'm homesick. I had the Philly fries with coleslaw for my main and the Cajun spiced Mac n cheese appetizer, and both were delicious and very generously portioned. I felt quite stuffed from these and didn't have room for dessert, which was a shame because the milkshakes look amazing. I'd recommend coming with friends and coming hungry - the portions are very big, and great value for price. This is definitely a casual joint, perfect for a Friday night. The waitresses are super friendly and the food comes out quickly. I'd highly recommend this for a casual, laid-back night.

Came today with my family- greeted with a smile. The sharing tray was to die for and more than enoigh for the 5 of us!!! Liked the idea of locking our mobile phones especially when eating out with 3 teenagers then getting 10% off our bill by doing so. Went home with full tummy and some take away loaded fries!😄 Will come back again!!!!

American here - this is the best BBQ I've had in my life. Huge portions, perfect meat, and great service. I mean it: the BEST BBQ. I recommend The Burnout tray for 2 people.

Huge portions and very good food. Tables almost too small to hold it ! Fun place and atmosphere is good.

Great meal we traveled from rugby for my sons birthday was really great just not able to finish the food it was so nice..service was excellent and friendly can't fault at all and would definitely recommend a visit.. we will be going back Soon ....
