Burds in Newcastle upon Tyne

First time visiting and would definitely go back. Nice feel about the place, lovely location, and enjoyed the food. I had scrambled eggs, not a huge portion but enough for me and very tasty. Would order again.

we went there early one morning after having to be in the area and we decided to have two veggie muffins. They were delicious. They were well presented as you can see from the video. They looked good they tasted good. We also had a pot of green tea and a cappuccino. The pot of green tea was nice and I even had a sip of that cappuccino and had some chocolate on top of it and it tasted excellent. The only reason I’ve given it four stars is because it was very cold and maybe that was because we were very early

I’ve eaten here before and the food is actually really good however this morning we arrived on opening and waited 45 mins for drinks - we were asked twice again what we ordered and we asked three times if the staff could let us know how long they would be. More than one table arrived, had their drinks and left in the time we were there. Instead of waiting any longer for them to forget again we decided to go elsewhere - who knows how long the food would have been!

Beautiful presentation of food in a lovely setting. Expensive but it's clearly great produce!

Lovely place they have indoor and outdoor seatings. I had a french toast and an americano both were great, only thing was that the food took longer than expected

There was three of us, the staff were really lovely, helpful and efficient, the food portions were small, too small, and I’m not a big eater, food was nothing special and I thought the coffee was tasteless. Nice place to sit, inside and out, thought maybe a bit of salad with the food would have been a good idea. Unfortunately won’t return as I don’t think it was value for money.

Hidden location, but what a beautiful find! The food was lovely - definitely coming back for more hashbrowns and eggs Benedict! The matcha latte on oat milk was incredible, perfectly balanced and not too sweet. At 10:30, there were only two tables taken, but by the time we were leaving, the place was full, with even three tables occupied outside. Great atmosphere, friendly service, and absolutely worth a return visit 😊

I've seen this place a few times when visiting Drake House but the time has never been right. I was in the area today with my sister and we managed to grab lunch. Wow, what a great experience, it was everything I could have hoped for and then some. Talk about taste the difference. Everything was so fresh and of the best quality. Great atmosphere, so friendly to dogs and humans. My new go to place when in the area. Keep up the great work, well done Graeme B

It's a nice cafe. The seating is beautiful and naturally quiet. The coffee and sweets are very delicious. The workers are friendly. It's worth a visit.

Been twice now and both times everything was 11/10. The autumn hash today was one of tastiest thing ever had. We were gutted the sprinkles cookies weren't on which had last time that were class. Nice chilled place unreal bait

Some of the most delicious food I have eaten in a very long time. The staff were incredibly friendly and the cafe has a lovely cosy atmosphere which was perfect for a lovely autumn afternoon. And I cannot praise the food enough and at such a reasonable price. Will definitely have to come back and taste the rest of the menu.

Absolute hidden gem, I had the Eggs Burdy, poached eggs cooked to jammy perfection, generous helping of ham and black pudding, browned butter hollandaise and muffins. No doubt Nellie would complain there wasn't enough sauce but she's at work and it was one of the best I've had. Added mushrooms but could have quite easily gone for chorizo or hash browns. Really good tea and a generous pot.

Love Burds for brunch - met a friend there after a Sunday run for some good food (and French toast too). Lovely staff and great quality food.

Nice food however very disappointed with the service. We were told it was a 30 minute wait on food however it took double this time and it even took 20 minutes just to get two coffee's!

20 mins for 3 cappuccinos, whilst one of the servers photographers a cake. Poor to say the keadt

I think Burds is my favourite place for brunch in Newcastle. The setting is superb, the staff and service are splendid and the brunch is brilliant. I will definitely be returning. Everything was five stars.

Absolutely disappointing and rather unpleasant. Poor service when you just walk in, overcooked eggs in eggs royale and dirty cutlery. Stunning location for a Saturday brunch however unwelcoming stuff, would not recommend to anyone.

Really small business and walk in’s only. They do have outdoor seating but when we went and it was torrential rain we couldn’t sit out although it it’s light rain or sun you’ll be fine👍🏼 Comfy seats, and outdoor heaters. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the food was delicious. Would defo recommend if you in the area and there’s normally plenty on parking outside (you do pay for)

Incredible small cafe hidden on the outskirts of Jesmond. Amazing heated outdoor patio area. Incredible coffee. And the star of the show - the food. Top marks all round!

Chef here tried to serve a black burnt piece of sourdough covered in avocado like we wouldn’t notice. Sent it back and took so long for a fixed order to come and replace it that my partner had eaten and finished their breakfast before mine came back out. Staff weren’t helpful and didn’t even offer a free coffee to make up for it, kids who just stand around, pretty useless customer service skills. Won’t be back which is a shame because it was the staff that let this place down.

The best teas and coffees anywhere and tucked away in an exclusive area if jesmond. Try the hot homemade freshly cooked pastry with chocolate infusion wow double wow you'll go back for more. Brilliant herbal planting scheme done by a professional landscaper an enthusiastic up coming landscaper you watch ! I have always enjoyed my coffee experiences here. Unfortunately this morning was a disappointment. The croissant was not warmed up which I requested, it didn't taste fresh as in the past. Also the flapjack wasn't a good standard and seemed almost pure sugar. For the price I would expect better quality. Hoping this is a one off as Birds is a lovely asset to this part of Jesmond.

Was a little cramped as not much seating inside but is more outside then in if u have the nice weather. Partner had the BLT which was nice but a little bit greasy

Great place to go for good food, I had eggs -benny and the service was both friendly and professional. Well worth a visit.

I love this place. The food looks beautiful and tastes even better, everything they have on the menu is delicious. They change it seasonally and I make sure to always try their new dishes. It’s very tiny from the inside and you don’t always find seating, they have an outdoor area which is great during summer. I would be aware when ordering anything that has mushroom though as I was unfortunate enough to have to bite into rock hardened dirt twice. The way they handled the situation was excellent and the chef explained they use locally sourced wild mushrooms and honestly the place is very clean and the team is absolutely lovely for that reason I would still continue to visit and gave it 5 stars.

The food is delicious and incredibly reasonably priced for the quality. Loads of local produce and other local business working in collaboration. Really welcoming atmosphere. Sam and Ross were always so welcoming and friendly and had time to chat with me and my toddler. Very often make a rubbish day better!

A fantastic unique cafe hidden in Jesmond. All staff are super friendly and accommodating. All the food is fresh and seasonal and uses local ingredients and suppliers. Highly recommended a great little find!

This place is closed. I went there last week during business hours on a Wednesday.

What could be better that sitting outside in the sunshine for breakfast at Burds. The food and coffee was great and Sarah and colleagues looked after us well. I look forward to working my way through the menu!

Absolutely sensational brunch. Classic dishes and seasonally inspired options too. Exceedingly high quality.

The food and ambience is good. Service can slow down when it gets busy but that happens everywhere. Unfortunately I won’t be returning as I’ve now had to change my plans to meet friends here three times in the space of as many weeks because business hours are so unreliable. Businesses that are serious about looking after their customers need to be there for them when they say they are going to be. Closing for random days here and there and shutting the kitchen 3 hours before your self-publicised closing time with no notice is a sure fire way of sending customers elsewhere.

Absolutely loved visiting Burds for the first time recently. The terrace is so lovely and chill, the beetroot salad was unbelievably tasty and anywhere that serves Pink Lane coffee is a hit in my book. Will definitely return soon!

Funky little coffee shop tucked away in jesmond. I had an espresso which hit the spot, and a delightful chocolate orange cookie. The food looked delicious so we’ll probably be back!

A lovely place in a super quiet location. Very pleasant outside seating in the leafy suburb of Jesmond. Nice coffees and snacks too but what I really like about it is the Mediterranean style and flair!

Have visited Burds on 2 occasions and was served with excellent food and drinks. Love the atmosphere the location and the friendly staff. The beetroot salad comes highly recommended.

A bit of a disappointing visit today. We didn’t realise it was in Fleming Court so we took a while to find the cafe & food is not served on Mondays. It was quiet when we arrived so we ordered coffee but several folk arrived after us & received their orders promptly while we waited for our coffee. When the coffee arrived it was lukewarm. Too be fair the cafe did not charge for one of our coffees & maybe we were just unlucky on our visit. The menu did look interesting & tasty when food is available.

First class food first class coffee, first class service. Highly recommended.
