Burdock in Islington

I went last week with my family and I have to say we had a great time it’s nice place, good and fast service, I loved the coffee made by Julian great service!!! I will surely come back, thank you for a good time.

Don’t waste your time - food not great, not a large table, but all the food tuned up a different times. So much so, they gave us free wine as the food was so late. Won’t be on my go-to list again!

The restaurant is in the doorway of the hotel and has a look and feel more like a shopping centre cafe than an expensive restaurant, I actually walked past it thinking it must be a coffee shop and the restaurant elsewhere. It was absolutely freezing with all the hotel guests coming and going and opening the door to the outside world, I can’t imagine who thought that right by the door was a good place for the restaurant. The customers eating and staff were wearing coats and it didn’t exactly give the place a luxury feel. We played shuffleboard after dinner. That too was in the open plan area by the door and cold. We tried to get pudding, but after waiting about half an hour for it we left and went somewhere warm. I’ve given a score of 2 stars as the food itself was very nice, but completely let down by the venue.

terrible service. Chaotic, slow, ran out of beer, tried to charge us for drinks we hadn't had. Would never go back under any circumstances.

Nice enough bar, moody staff Took my team here. All good, but the manager floated about - he was rather unpleasant and menacing. Played shuttleboard, which is central in their bar. We are in our 30’s & 40’s, so hardly raucous. An aggressive bouncer by the name of Christian came and barked at us for no discernible reason. He was moody and unnecessarily aggressive. He was sitting in his stool prior to this, with a look that seemed to suggest that he was rather keen to interject at the slightest excuse. The bar manager was not sympathetic. We drank up & left & shall never return. There are so many places in the city. Avoid this one if you want to have a fun night.

I'm still smiling from the most wonderful visit to Burdock! I had to organise a lunch for 13 of us and I was immediately taken with the cosy and cool design of the space. I was greeted by the wonderful Nesli who is the most welcoming, friendly and helpful person ever! I knew we were in safe hands. Straight away her and her team had arranged a perfect space for us all. When our group arrived for lunch we were made to feel at home, given some excellent food suggestions and our groups allergy and dietary needs were covered too. The food was of course incredible! As is everything here! Some friends and I shared a platter which was delicious and the perfect portion size. A shout out to the amazing Rosalea (I hope I spelt that correctly!) who also took care of us and made sure everything ran smoothly. I will definitely be back here in the near future! If lunch was this good then I can't wait to try dinner! 5 STARS! :)

Was lured in by the now obviously out of date website, which promised an all day breakfast menu; a lunch menu and a bar menu. Apparently that is not so. Only a bar menu was available. We arrived on Valentines weekend and the bar/restaurant is at the entrance of the hotel which was busy and had queues into the restaurant. We weren’t sure who was who and had to reach out to a man who almost passed us by without acknowledging our presence. We had shuffleboard booked first and then a table for a late lunch. The gentlemen who we greeted asked if we wanted food or shuffleboard first. We said food as he assured us that getting a shuffleboard game in later wouldn’t be a problem. Apparently not so as when we were ready to play shuffleboard, the tables had been taken over by a birthday party. I would like to say that the waiting staff were very pleasant but they were overworked and it showed. The starter platter we ordered did not have one of the items stated and we agreed to double up on another item. We asked for French fries and it came with curly. Couldn’t be bothered to ask for those. Platter is not worth the money. The salmon with noodles was salty and was supposed to come with edamame of which there was no sign. They did eventually bring some for us. Burgers looked generous and my sons were happy with those. One thing in their favour is that when I expressed my displeasure over my main, they did remove it, our drinks and service cost off our final bill. We won’t be going back.

This is the best service I received ever in London ! I will definitely recommend . There was only 3 staff members and dealing with so many guests . It’s amazing !

Lorenzo and nesli were genuinely The best Waiter and waitress I have ever had in my life. They were so attentive and so kind and made the whole experience of eating and drinking the best.I will genuinely come again because of how they treated me. This bar and restaurant is just inside the Mountcalm Hotel on the ground floor. We visited on a Sunday afternoon. Good cocktail list and some draught beers available. Nice efficient service. Didn’t eat so couldn’t comment on the food menu.

We were staying as a family in the same hotel. We came here for the first evening and whilst I really appreciated the fusion menu inspired by a south Asian cuisine; my wife was less impressed. You can order a burger if you old from the bar menu if that’s your fancy. Nice place to people watch, entrance of the Mountcalm hotel and the staff were very friendly.
