Buongiorno in Northumberland

Went in as a walk in on Friday evening, pre theatre. A table was swiftly found for us and drinks served. We had the sharing charcuterie platter to start which was huge and delicious, cold meats, cheeses, pate, tomato bruschetta, olives etc. Ample for two, as a main even!! We followed with a cheese and mushroom pizza, beautiful thin crust and cooked to perfection!! Sadly no room for desserts. To drink we had Verdiccio of the very reasonable wine list. As the evening progressed the restaurant filled up, not noisy but a very good vibe. Attentive staff, speedy service. We hope to return!!

Best Italians in Hexham without a doubt.

1st time visiting this place for lunch. We had the spaghetti carbonara which was fantastic and the spaghetti bolognaise which was nice. It’s a nice intimate place for a meal and a bottle of wine. Will be definitely visiting again to try some more on the menu.

Lovely food and friendly staff. Great atmosphere. Went for my wifes' birthday and they brought out a free dessert for her and sang Happy Birthday. Lovely.

A little gem of a restaurant with a warm welcome and excellent food. Reservations recommended, as there aren't many tables and their reputation is growing. Happy hour prices are available for 1, 2 or 3 courses, or there is a full menu available. Buon Appetito!

Popped in without a reservation and they could fit us in, just! Good menu with the usual crowd-pleaser dishes, pizza, pasta, risotto, plus some nice looking specials. Wine menu is small but perfectly formed with some decent reds. Restaurant is small, all on one level, intimate but also relaxed and social. Staff are really friendly and it's kind of like being in someone's kitchen, in a good way. Early bird specials are crazy cheap and the food portions are rather large. Great experience, a new favourite 👍

We were in Hexham for one night so popped in for a meal.We were there on a Thursday night so it wasn't too busy. The food is nice and service good.The food is not too expensive I think mains were around £15.00-£20.00 on average. The only thing I didn't like is paying £4.00 for a small bottle of Larger which I think is a bit much so I only had the one. I'm sure they would sell more if they dropped the price.

I went for my mother birthday and the food and atmosphere was absolutely amazing. The workers were professional and really friendly this was the best service I have ever received in a restaurant. I would 100% recommend this to anyone. Thank you so much for a great experience

The food is delicious but the takeaway option is weird! They seem to decide when you ring if they are prepared to do a takeaway or not despite advertising it as an option. In addition the price of the takeaway is always about £3-4 more than stated in the menu. When queried the reason given is they are really old menus but nothing to indicate prices have risen! I won’t be ordering from here again unfortunately because I didn’t appreciate the attitude I got when asking a perfectly valid question about the cost difference. Customer service is just as important as food quality and I’m afraid it isn’t great.

Lovely. Not as nice as when it had an upstairs years ago but nice enough. Like virtually all venues in the UK in 2023, overpriced but that's the UK not this restaurant in particular.

Takeaway pizza was below average quality …very mean on the toppings

We regularly visit the restaurant along Backstreet, usually on busy Saturday evenings. The staff are always pleasant and friendly, not pushy or waiting on you to finish before scooping up your plate! The food hits the spot everytime. It doesn’t matter if you order a simple pizza to risotto or spicy seafood, your guaranteed absolute quality from the tiny kitchen. Some may say the place is a little small, but we love nothing better to be eating in a bustling little restaurant with the wine flowing! Our first choice for Italian, in the Tyne Valley.

Very Italian. Good food. There were several lone men just sitting with coffee. There aren't that many cafes that are so man friendly.

Spotted this restaurant the previous day. Didn’t book so made sure we arrived early for evening meal at 6.15pm. . The restaurant was packed and no tables available until 7.30. Not a problem, so headed for a few drinks elsewhere. Lovely staff, we learned it’s a family run business. Food was delicious; garlic bread (pizza style) was fab, would recommend, and our pasta dishes (lasagne and spaghetti carbonara) were very tasty. A bottle of red wine to share which again was lovely. Thank you! Would definitely recommend trying this restaurant but make sure you book in advance!

Buongiorno is becoming our go-to if we want lunch in Hexham. The veg risotto is always lovely and never quite the same twice (depending what veg is best at the time, most recently it contained asparagus tips as well as aubergine and courgette). Hubby is fussy about his coffee so the fact a double espresso always ends our meal here speaks volumes about the quality. Staff always friendly and helpful.

An excellent restaurant, we were on our way to the cinema and popped in on the chance of a seat. The staff got us one and were so helpful and friendly. The meals were excellent, so tasty just knocked slightly as we like a little salad with ours, but that's our taste. This was the best spaghetti I have ever eaten. I had the special spaghetti with king prawns and courgettes. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere lovely. My family had pizzas and calamari and these were delicious too. Highly recommended.

This was our first visit to this restaurant, which is extremely friendly, with a cosy, intimate atmosphere. The staff were marvellous, the food was excellent and service was prompt. The pizzas are the best in the area, thin base and very tasty. This restaurant is thoroughly recommended. We will be back very soon.

First visit to this restaurant and we will go again. Service was friendly and timely and the food was very good. The bread basket starter was huge but slightly expensive and a cheaper smaller portion might be better but that is only a very small thing.

Fantastic takeaway pizzas and pasta for my son’s birthday meal with friends. Such friendly and warm and professional service, and the food was excellent. When we collected our order the place was packed, there was a lovely atmosphere, and we will definitely be booking to eat in the restaurant next time.

Visited two nights in a row while staying in Hexham and on both occassions enjoyed some wonderful food and wine. Staff are very polite and pleasant, the atmosphere is relaxing, and the menu choice is extensive. Wish we had room left for dessert.
