We had lunch for two. It's more a hotel with a sprawl of rooms for seating areas with a restaurant vibe rather than a pure play restaurant - I had a burger and a side of skin on fries which were great. Service was a bit hit and miss, nothing bad but really young people working and I don't think they've had much direction, and for the price, you'd expect just a bit more care and attention to detail that's all. Overall I really liked the place and the food was brill which is the main thing to get right!

Wouldn’t even give it one star, came to the Bull 3 times, 2 out of 3 times the service has been the worst place we have visited across the Cotswolds, it’s overpriced and underwhelming. We had breakfast and when I say the bacon was like dust as it was that DRY. The service, wow horrific. The lady on the breakfast shift this morning, didn’t even look up at us for about 5-10 minutes and when we approached her she just pointed to an available table without interacting, miserable, rude and has put the nail in the coffin for us. We will never be returning to the Bull unless you wish to be ripped off and met with the rudest people in hospitality.

I wouldn’t go back. The other half and I had been before in April 24 and had a nice time even though it was very quiet and a bit lacking in atmosphere on Friday evening. We went back in October just for one night on our way to the West Country. It was our anniversary so we booked the “Honeymooner” but when we checked in and went to the room it was almost as icy cold as the stare the better half gave me. The helpful young lady tried to get the heating turned up and brought a half bottle of champagne to say sorry but after an hour it was clear the room wasn’t going to warm up any time soon. She then offered another room, it may have been a cosy room or the drunk tank, a very small room on the top floor, overlooking the kitchen vents. I fondly call it the “gravy” room as it was very stinky of cooked meat in the evening and of cooked breakfast in the morning. Fine by me after a few beers but maybe not what the good lady expected on our anniversary. The young staff are all lovely, very cheerful and helpful but seem a bit overwhelmed. If you’re a pal of the owner or a famous face your experience may be very different but for us it was a big let down. £60 quid off the bill didn’t convince me there was any real effort to make up for a poor experience so I doubt we’ll return.

They have a fabulous poker table, they have started to do events in which anyone can come to. You don’t have to be staying at the hotel

Beautiful setting, last went to the Bull when it was old fashioned inside so to see the work done after the restoration was amazing transformation. Had 3 course valentine meal for special occasion. Lovely girl served us all evening and she was kind attentive and outstanding. However I think it's important to point out the things that I found disappointing. As valentine's is an intimate occasion I feel we were packed in like sardines. The tables for 2 were inadequate in size for a coursed meal. No space to comfortably spread out, being comfortable is an important part of paying for an experience which has been looked forward to. Ridiculous long lights from low ceiling were a nuisance. I'm short but still managed to catch my head on it every time I got up and had to negotiate them, a pointless exercise. The set menu had to be pre-ordered. No problem except I was looking forward to seabass ( I ordered this) what I got was stone bass which was quite tasteless if I'm honest and it sal on a huge pile of tagliatelle...which just looked stodgy and unappetising. I love Samphire, but there was hardly any on the plate at all. Mussels were a bit dry and chewy... No room on table for a bowl for mussel shells or finger bowl. Scallops and canapes were bland really. Crem brulee, Martini... Coffee thing was underwhelming...didn't enjoy it as I have enjoyed others. Shame. We spent over 200 quid which as a special occasion is fine but the night before we went to the pub at the top of the road and the food was 60 quid and in my opinion better . Big disappointment and a shame. If the service hadn't been great I would have said something but the young girl who looked after us on the night was lovely and on it. Maybe its more focused on being a luxury stay. I hear the bed rooms are fantastic but on the whole for me very underwhelming. Such a shame beautiful building lots of character, ergonomically not that well thought out for dinner

Best Sunday Roast ever! Just delicious, soooo good, everything cooked to perfection and with quality ingredients, good servings, perfect lamb and pork and fast service . Dessert really good. We loved it. Congrats to the chef and kitchen team! Sorry no photo of Sunday roast but you can see what we left! And dog friendly🐶

I can't comment on the rooms because we didn't stay. The interior design is really interesting, the service was good and the steak I had was one of the best I have ever eaten.

We stayed at The Bull in December and honestly didn’t realise how fabulous it would be. Truly dog friendly—our boy was welcome everywhere, and the staff were so lovely with him. Breakfast in the Horn restaurant was stunning. À la carte, exceptional quality and completely faultless. We also stayed for dinner one evening, and it was easily one of the best meals we’ve had. The bar and snug are so cosy—perfect for relaxing by the fire. The renovation is next level. Every detail has been so thoughtfully done, from the artwork to the decor. The rooms are gorgeous, with a bed that’s actually huge (not a glorified double!) and ridiculously comfortable. The linens and pillows were unreal—first hotel I’ve not needed to ask for extras. Blackout curtains, a calming bathroom… they’ve completely nailed comfort and relaxation, and I do not say that lightly! Burford itself is beautiful, and this hotel is a dream stay. Don’t hesitate—just book. You’ll love it. P.S. If you’re staying, you must find “the larder”—such a brilliant concept. We absolutely loved it!

I cannot comment on the rooms as we only had dinner at the bull and it was an average experience for us. We had booked for a birthday dinner and expected it to be pricey but along with the price also great service unfortunately we didnt get that tonight. When we were shown to our table we were given menu s and asked if we would like water which we were given upon it being poured it was spilled on the menu no apology or new menu given, we were asked what drinks we would like and took our food order our drinks never came until we reminded the staff and then they came we then had our main and again our drinks were forgotten about until we reminded them and once we had finished outlet meal we had been forgotten about. The place wasn’t busy so no reason for the staff not to be like this. We did speak to one of the staff and he would take it on board so at least he asked. The food was ok to good and the building was stunning but unfortunately the service was a let down we were going to come back to the fire restaurant but not sure now.

A great place to stay. I feel very spoiled with a super comfortable bed in a nicely renovated room. I love the cool details like an electric blind, cool mirrors, and wooden glass frame around shower screen. If I was to be very picky, I would mention that there are no hooks or towel racks in the room (which I’m aware aren’t issues in other rooms). The shower was also luke warm, (also not an issue in other rooms so it could just be me). The bed side tables are also quite small. Despite my pickiness, this hotel has been one of the nicest places I’ve ever slept in, and to me the bed is the most important part, which gets a 10/10.

What a fabulous quirky hotel. No Tvs but I did have a box of harmonicas in my room! And just looking at the amazing artwork filled my spare time. Staff were excellent and very professional. Food lovely too. Great location but just need to park on road but no great hassle. Room had slight noise from music below

Gorgeous in every sense! Stopped for a drink on our drive through and wasn't disappointed. Ice cold Rose, a pint for the Hubster plus a couple of light snacks from the bar menu (we sat outside on the terrace). Beautiful way to while away 60 mins or so. It's a little bit pricey, but we will be back.

Dropped in for a drink last night and had to drop a review as this place is beautiful inside and out, friendly staff. However they have a limited drinks menu and some of the spirits are expensive. It has a nice vibe though and would have stayed longer if more choice of ales and gin

A must-try culinary experience in WILD! We had such an amazing experience dining in WILD today. Chef Callum was not only knowledgeable but also incredibly friendly, taking time to explain each dish with passion and detail. The service was flawless, with attentive staff Amy who ensured our meal was perfect from start to to finish. This trully unique experience is something everyone MUST try. WILD is a perfect spot for special summer lunch outside with friends and family, combining exceptional food with a welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended!

We had been recommended to stay here by some friends who had been for dinner and said that the restaurants were worth a visit in themselves. We decided to stay here too rather than just go for dinner as we were told they had four restaurants... When we got to the room we were beyond impressed. The giant bathtub, the comfy bed, and immaculate staff made it all feel really special! The welcome Negroni in our room was a stylish touch too - It really set the tone for a place full of incredible art. If you stay here definitely eat at Hiro and Wild. Once in a lifetime experiences that I've not come across elsewhere.

I cannot recommend this lovely hotel enough. Our room was tastefully decorated but super cosy, we didn't really want to leave it! Helpfully though, we were given maps with stunning walks (including through the most incredible valley I've ever seen) and other recommendations of things to do in Burford. You'll eat well here. Plenty of great breakfast options (including for those with dietary requirements like me) and our omakese dinner at Hirowas one of the best meals of my life. I'm sure I'll be back - thanks for the wonderful weekend!

Lunch at Wild We were super fortunate to enjoy eating here in April with the sunshine, and looked after by the wonderful Leanne as part of 6 guests enjoying a shared/ communal lunch. Chef Adam was a BBQ king (once he finishes his apprenticeship he’ll be an incredible head chef) preparing scallops, prawns, lamb and beef ribs. Josh was a wonderful sommelier allowing us to taste and enjoy a few interesting wines. And lastly we had the pleasure to meet Charlotte who was a fab host even on her day off.

I never usually write reviews but couldn’t not for The Bull. In my eyes it should be 5* for the quality, experience, food and ambience . I took my mum for the night and we had an incredible time. Instantly felt relaxed when we walked in and like we were at home. They have a ‘trough’ which is an unlimited 24 hour snack bar with so many delicious snacks and healthy ones too. When we arrived from London we made sandwiches here and the bread and food was so fresh and all local. I was so surprised it was all included, never experienced that at a hotel before! The rooms are insane. I stayed in the standard cosy and my mum was in the junior suite. I think it was really good value for money and actually quite a bargain tbh! For the quality and standard of everything you get in the room, you’d expect to pay a lot more. If you are a fan of art, then you will be in awe. There’s just a casual original Banksy in the entrance, Basquiat, Bella Freud and more. It’s so subtly blended in, it feels like you’re at your best friends cosy but beautiful house. You feel so at home. The night we arrived they also had a choir at the local chapel. We joined about 10 other people both local and hotel guests and had singing / choir lessons. It was really magical. Again, an offering I’ve never experienced from a hotel and truly so memorable. The staff were so friendly and knowledgable and gave us a tour and told us about all the history as it’s quite a new hotel. There’s also loads of beautiful walks nearby which they told us about. Food musts- the smash burger - OMG and the flat bread 🤤 I’ve already booked to come back soon, it was that nice! Excited to come back and use the snooker room! Thank you to the bull for making us feel so at home and such a great stay. I hope lots of people get to experience what we did!

We absolutely loved it here. Think humble opulence, the guest larder for late night snacks being revolutionary. The poker table in the wine cellar, complete with an instructor for novices, is a stroke of genius. Dining at ‘Horne’ and cocktails in the bar by the fire was perfect. We’re looking forward to experiencing ‘Wild’ during our next visit (there’s a 2 month waiting list so book well in advance)

The Bull was a delightful place to stay. Service and food was outstanding with great attention to detail. We had one of their smallest rooms because we had a dog with us but it was still a wonderful place to be. The atmosphere is so friendly with a shared table at breakfast that we ended up chatting to a lot of the other guests. The ice cream in the shared pantry was delicious. Dinner at Hiro was outstanding and unmissable. We will return.

If you enter this establishment from the rear courtyard you may miss the entrance to the UNSIGNED bar. If you have the misfortune to ask a member of staff named Olga she will bark directions at you. You had better understand first time or you will really incur her wrath. I know the owners don't care that her attitude probably lost c£40 in drinks/snacks. That's the problem isn't it? That breeds contempt for customers. What was that great line from Pretty Woman .......BIG MISTAKE?

One of the best Sunday roasts i've EVER eaten! The team at the Bull were amazing from booking/planning to communicating and then delivering. I dealt with Amy and Camilla and booking for 26 was never going to be easy. We walked around Burford before descending on The Bull and into the private Horn restaurant they'd booked for us. Standard of food was a unreal and service matched. Would 100% recommend - we'll be back!

Stayed in a fantastic suite and ate at Wild with my wife. Great hotel that has a unique character with art everywhere. Loved the concept of Trough, giving you access to snacks and drinks 24x7, really worth the money especially for an occasion. Dinner was a great experience, loved the concept of a shared table at Wild. Made the whole evening far more social and the food and service was first class. Special shout out to Guy who really looked after us and was willing to spend time answering any questions about the hotel, artwork and their history. Throughly recommend.

Great location and the staff were good but like many services today people don't tend to know their products. We decided to have roast beef lunch. We noticed that there were no parsnips with the meal, so we ordered a side as we asked the question, does it come with parsnips. The answer was no, and when the meal turned up, it had parsnips. I know this seems petty, but apart from parsnip overload, we both think that what if you had an allergy would this establishment cater for you or just forget. Without pulling the dinner completely apart, I did expect more quality for the price, but I will let you decide from the photos. I thought the roast potatoes and vegetables were overdone.

I think this is a great little pub. The staff are always friendly and attentive. I've been visiting fairly regularly for the open mic night on a Sunday, which is good fun. It's currently run by Laura, who does an Excel job and whoever attends to perform is always greeted with respectful applause. There are 2 main seating areas which help separate the talkers and the listeners and in the summer, there is a gorgeous beer garden. The open mic then moves out there, which allows a much greater audience to attend. I haven't eaten here, but again, the drinks deals on a Sunday are terrific. All in all, lovely.

I was sceptical about this being an “authentic Italian,” restaurant. I was delighted to find that it was. The chef the first visit was from Naples and he did a good job with the food. I’ve had starters of seafood and then spaghetti bolognaise as main. The tiramisu was finished but the chef made a fresh tiramisu for my husband, which he enjoyed. On our second visit we took our daughter, keeping our fingers crossed it would be as good as before. We needn’t have worried it surpassed our expectations and was a delicious experience!! We all had starters, onion and tomato salad, vegetable soup and seafood. We then had spaghetti bolognaise, steak with pasta and a seafood risotto. Pudding and coffees followed. All of the food was fresh, hot and excellent. We were enjoying it so much I forgot to take any photos. We will return to this restaurant and hope people visit to keep a great restaurant going!
