Bull in Maidstone

Seems like a very cold place. Rude staff. Probably overworked or under bad management. Highly recommend to avoid this place when busy esp on Sundays.

After waiting over an hour for food, the food came cold and wrong/ missing many things which was advertised. Ordered the hunter chicken schnitzel off the specials menu which was meant to come with rosemary salted fries, fries came with neither rosemary or salt, ordered the chorizo tail on king prawns, which came with prawns that weren’t tail on or king prawns, ordered the mac and cheese off the kids menu which then didn’t come with the cucumber or corn on the cob which it was advertised too, the carrots that did come weren’t peeled and looked like they were cut with a butter knife, the portion size of the mac and cheese was abysmal, finally a roast dinner was ordered which majority of the components were cold. Didn’t complain in the restaurant because we were waiting so long for food that we were so hungry and couldn’t wait longer

My daughter and I paid a visit to the Bull for lunch recently and were met by a lovely young lady called Kim, she led us to our table which had a lovely view of the heath, she was so attentive to our needs and nothing was too much trouble for her. Our food came which was very tasty and just a nice size portion. I would like to praise Kim for the fantastic service and her welcoming nature, she is a credit to the Bull and would definitely go back again and also recommend it to my friends

Came in on Sunday for a family meal and was not disappointed. The place was absolutely packed when we arrived, with large groups stood at the bar (just like pubs used to be!) and we instantly expected a long wait and sub-par service. The young lad behind the bar on his own asked us if we had a booked and informed us to wait at the end of the bar to be seated. We were then greeted by a young girl with glasses and promptly lead to our table. Service was absolutely amazing and couldn't be faulted, with three young ladies looking after us across the visit. Food was exceptional, and although we expected long waits because of how busy it was upon arrival the staff (and kitchen team) excelled under the extreme pressure. Will definitely be returning.

We were warmly greeted. The food turned up promptly hot and well presented. The staff were friendly and helpful The food was lovely. The visit was the most economical lunch we've had, main, pudding 🍮 and drinks x2 under £40 £ 38 ish i believe 😋

Money and time well spent, and the best Mixed Grill I have had in the last 10 years. Steak perfectly cooked and the service was exceptional from Debs and Kim. Thanks for having us.

We just had our mums birthday meal at the bull (10 of us), everyone loved the food perfect Sunday roast. Craig and he’s team went above and beyond for us. They brought out her birthday cake for us and gave us the best customer service throughout the period. Great atmosphere and very well looked after thought out the process. Another Family Christmas meal at the Bull , 23 of us and a 3 course festive meal. Food was served prompt , hot and delicious , staff were very friendly , fast and efficient. A great afternoon/evening had by all. We will be back next year for sure!! Thank you all and Merry Christmas

A very pleasant pub right o the green plenty of choice of beers, ample parking.

Nice family pub with a decent menus and decent prices. Nice secure garden at the rear with some kiddies slides and a bit of space. Out the front is bearstead green which is good for kids too - they can have a football kick around whilst adults can enjoy a drink just watching.

My friends and I had a delicious meal at The Bull and the evening was made even more enjoyable by the cheerful and attentive service from Jade and Charlee.

My family and I were staying nearby and wanted a family friendly pub that we could bring the dog along. We were very pleasantly surprised that not only this place fit the bill it is reasonably priced and the food was lovely. Kim and Debs were very friendly and gave us great service.

Service was slow could do with more staff.

Wouldn't come here waited 45 minutes and not even had our meals ordered very poor service

Excellent service especially given how busy it was for a Thursday lunchtime. Side salad was disappointing but gammon and my husband's Chicken Ciabatta were good. Thank you to Jade and Elle for looking after us. Very attentive and efficient.

Unfortunately my risotto was not great. The chorizo was overcooked and dry and the chargrilled peppers overpowered the dish. Shame. Kim our server was excellent. Peroni was good.

5 of us Came here for a meal the staff did not know how to smile apart from the one in the beige top (Charlie) she was smiley and happy the food was average food but the pudding was lovely

We popped in for a meal with some old friends to catch up. And we're served by the lovely Elle! We were a very awkward group (sorry Elle) swapping sauces etc, but Elle got everything perfect for us! We were confusing things but she got it right every time and with a smile on her face ☺️. Looking forward to coming back.

Came in on a Monday afternoon for a quick pint or two. Had a pint of Proper Job and it was fantastic, clearly a pub that looks after it's real ales! Even allowed me to use my CAMRA card for a 10% discount. Ellie and Isaac were brilliant bar staff, will be looking forward to coming back and seeing what other guest ales they have on

Visit 24/8/2024 We were a party of 4 with a booked table, which wasn't ready, despite being on time, so we had ordered drinks at the bar and sat outside. When we went to our table, we had a delay for someone to take our food order, so we left our drinks on the table to go outside for a vape, gone all of 10 minutes, only to find our drinks were gone and another party placed at our table! Finally, 15 minutes later, we were given our replacement drinks (which were all full).. and fair enough, the staff apologised. It was a very odd mistake to make, in my opinion. A member of our table went to use the toilet, only for a fight to break out with other patrons - and for police attendance - which I don't blame the pub for. However, by now, we were an hour into awaiting our food order, chased several times, only to be told due to a fight that had gone on.. more time went past (1 hour and 35 minutes) our food finally arrived.. all 4 of us could barely eat it due to porous cooking quality - that I wouldn't feed to my dog. We eventually gave up trying to order from the restaurant as others were seated after us/served before.. it felt more like our table was a burden to the staff. Yet, we had been polite and respectful over issues with the service - or lack of. This was a birthday meal for myself, and being a regular, I wouldn't recommend the bull inn anymore. This isn't the first issue I've had with the food/restaurant side. The last few visits, food has been below their normal standards and what seems to be a lack of care from the staff. Even trying to pay our bill, our "replacement" drinks were charged! Which by now, enough is enough. Just waiting on the bill. It took 40 minutes. It is with regret to leave this review as previously always rated this place, but now, I'd rather go elsewhere. It is such an ashame as being local/on the door step, I generally would have over looked minor issues, but this visit was beyond a joke.

Been here before and was very good,kid friendly and dog friendly.

Having visited the pub on a sunny lunchtime we decided to sit in the garden, which I have to say was a little better than when we visited a few years ago. However it could do with a thorough clean and tidy up and get rid of the awful plastic flowers!- -food ok ish -staff not rude but tired and disinterested and lacking in basic hygiene skills … the member of staff that served us cake tried to serve it with barehands!!! This pub has so much potential but needs much, much better professional management.

Visited as it was local to the care home I had been to to see a relative. Food was served faster than we had been advised... they were busy. Garden was lovely to sit it... tables not to crowded together.

We had a few drinks then a sit down meal which was fantastic and no small portions, the beef and ale award winning pie was very filling and superb. And the service was excellent many thanks

Paid a visit today and I must say it did not disappoint. When we entered the premises it was extremely clean, staff were welcoming and friendly and the food was absolutely delicious. What a fabulous pub to go to and will definately be returning , great for families too as grab a drink and sit out the front and the kids can play on the field situated just a step away :-)

Went today and sat in the beer garden which was absolutely lovely. When my friends received their food I was told mine would take longer but it ended up taking excessively long. I was blown off by staff saying how it would take longer but I had to wait almost 30 minutes for them to admit that they gave my food to the wrong table. I was disappointed as I loved the atmosphere.

After traveling 4 hours, myself and my mum wanted to get some food before visiting family, we stopped by the Bull and was served by Kim! She couldn't not enough for us! I asked if it was possible if I could have jacket potato with cheese and beans (it wasn't even on the menu) and without hesitation Kim took our order away and service was very quick. Would recommend this pub to anyone around this area.

Ordered four meals burgers were reasonable Mac and cheese was dried up Stodge and barely warm, asked for it to be hotter which they did although it made it warmer it didn't improve the taste or texture, I had the mixed grill which was mediocre the steak was meant to be medium to well but came rare, not for me, when the waitress came back at the end and asked if it was OK, I told her and she said I should of told her when she bought it, bit difficult as I hadn't tried it than and they never came back to ask, never mind lesson learnt wont be going back, used to be lovely meals there and went there frequently but not any more.

Nice location . Friendly staff. Beer good . Menu looked ok . Maybe try food next visit .

Had a great lunch with the family on father's day. Food was excellent service was fantastic and reasonable prices.

Came for lunch with my mum, daughter and her boyfriend. Our service from Kim was brilliant, always a smile on her face, even when dealing with guests who can't read the 'wait here to be seated' sign! Patience of a Saint! Food excellent, my lasagne was cooked to perfection!

We booked a table for 7 to celebrate my mother birthday. We arrived at just after 5 and were seated. We order our drinks, then our food a little wait but not too bad. The food was bought to the table for both starter and main, first 5 dishes, then quite a wait, then the other 2 dishes. We ate the food. Then we sat the waitess who originally served us did not reappear in our part of the restaurant, and the other waitress just kept serving her tables. We had to get up and ask about the dessert menu from the 2nd waitess who then cleared our table but never returned to take the dessert order. In the end after 2h15 minutes, we gave up. We gad to ask for the bill again the bar on our way out. We had children eating off the children's menu and it is a school night. Very poor service.

My wife and I had been going to the Bull 2-3 times a week since 1996, until moving to Canterbury in 2021. Always enjoying the,beer, food and atmosphere promoted by the good humoured staff, most of which I, even now, class as friends. Since moving away we have still frequently visited,(my father in laws favorite),when visiting my father in law. However the last 2 visits have been pretty abysmal. The atmosphere more inner city drinking hole, staff giving the impression that they had more important things to do like "vaping". The beer,(Abbott), was well below par, for an otherwise great beer. Then we come to the food! I know the Bull is never going to be Michelin starred.We ordered the basic but British staple, Fish and chips. Now to put you in the picture, I am an ex head chef, executive head chef, development chef and area catering manager for some national and international companies, including the pub restaurant trade, over the last 50+ years, so I have some knowledge of what I am talking about. I know most of the menu is pre- prepared, cooked and packaged in a factory style kitchen elsewhere, but at least get the few dishes you cook on site right. Deep frier oil should be strained and replaced regularly, basic kitchen protocol. What was served to us was pretty dire, to say the least, photos attached. Because this was my father in laws treat for us this time, we didn't want embarrass him, so refrained from complaining. The experience doesn't end there, the chef,(!!!!), and some kitchen staff then came out of the kitchen to go to the bar...basic food hygiene course needed all round

Had a very large approx 18 group reunion yesterday lunch time, all ordered and paid individually, apparently was waitress first day, we would never of known, she wasn't overwhelmed at all.. The pub under new owners, all enjoyed our food, lovely spacious garden and parking.

We had a lovely experience here with Jade as our waitress. She as friendly and efficient and made the experience. The food was good and very reasonable priced. I had Thursday steak special which was a great deal.

The place is falling to pieces, the entrance door at the side is literally crumbling and looks awful. The mismatch chairs aren't great,just a shambles. However, the food was amazing, one of the nicest roasts I've ever had. The lady that saw us to our table was friendly and checked all was OK

Nice pub, only ordered chips which were good but couldn’t believe the portions when they came out £3.95 for not even a handful!

The pub is lovely, the garden great for kids but if your eating it isn't great, the service was slower than slow, to the point that we had to ask for the table to be cleared after our mains, items missed the food was below average at best especially for the price
