Bufi in Barnet

For years this was myself and my wife’s favourite Italian restaurant in all of London. We have been going consistently for approximately 5 years. The last few times we went, we noticed the quality had declined. It took 3 visits for us to verify that it wasn’t “just a bad night” as any establishment may experience. The Paccheri Con Zucchini, Salsiccia E Burrata used to be my wife’s favourite pasta dish EVER. But unfortunately they have now changed this completely. I can only assume that there is a new chef. It is really disappointing and i hope they manage to turn it round to its former glory. The pizza’s are still good but have suffered cost cutting measures. One last thing, they need to do something about the draft in the restaurant. There are two doors at the entrance, one is permanently open and the second doesn’t close properly. This has resulted in cool air running through, forcing many customers having to wear coats.This should be an easy fix by fitting spring in front of door.

This is a terrible restaurant. Avoid it at all costs. The owner is rude and acts like you're inconveniencing her for being there. We paid £75 for 5 meals that were barely edible. What a mistake! Almost anywhere else would have been better.

Booked a table for Sunday lunch via App on their website. Booked for 3 people at 1pm. Website says they open from 12:30pm on Sundays. Got to the restaurant and it was closed. Called the number on the website, it just rang out. Tried 3 times, no option to leave message. So I sent an email to address on their website and it bounced back. An hour later got an email from their booking agent asking about my experience at Bufi. Well this review is my answer.

The takeaway pizza we had this evening was exceptionally poor. It looked like a child had thrown on a random assortment of toppings, making it far too dense. The garlic pizza was burnt, and the wrong type of mushrooms were used. Overall, it was basically inedible. We definitely won’t be ordering from here again.

The chicken (milanese) was uncooked, pizza burned !!!

Once again Gas 'not working' so can only get pizza - nothing that requires an oven or hob. Despite them only being able to do pizzas and a fairly empty restaurant, service was incredibly slow - waited about 40 mins for our food.

I've not put a review of Bufi on here for a while but we had a friend's and family gathering of 28 people on Saturday 30rh March and Bufi did themselves proud. The service, the food, the ambience was impeccable. Bufi restaurant NEVER disappoints. Everyone has an amazing evening and loved the food. Everyone was praising the food and what more can you ask for? Great company, great ambience, great service and great food.

Ordered via UberEats. Took 1h until pizza was ready for the driver. I asked for it to be cut, which was ignored.

The perfect venue for an event - lovely food, delicious wine, gentle, friendly service and a warm and welcoming atmosphere. We had 45ish people, and the help getting ready, the family feel, the very competitive quote and the flexibility were incredibly appreciated - thank you Sandra and team!

Beautiful Italian, we walk past it every day, not giving it a second thought. Big mistake. Once you enter, you're welcome with a warm welcome as if you were entering someone's home. As it was three of us, we were offered a cute round table with sofa seating. The menu was varied but not overloaded. Just spot on. We ordered Melanzane Alla Parmigiana, which lasted seconds. Flavours were just right Then we ordered Chicken Milanese, Paccheri con Zucchini, Salsiccia e Burrata and a San Antonio with tomato, olives, parma ham, burrata, sun-dried tomatoes, rocket The food was so tasty and cooked to perfection. Desert was an ice-cream with a liquor. I want to come back and will make sure to pre-order the Tiramisu. It was all gone 😔

Wonderful cosy authentic neighbourhood Italian restaurant. Wide choice of pasta and pizza, all delicious. Fantastic customer service and sets the bar of dog friendly. Super welcoming, thoughtful and accommodating. A fantastic option for a tasty and good value family meal when your family includes the pooch.

We were served by Enzo he was amazing! So accommodating and lovely:) he made our experience more enjoyable and the food was delicious and served quickly! Definitely recommend for a date night or family meal. We have been twice and tried salad, pasta, pizza and the drinks and all great!

Wonderful food - the pasta, salmon and chicken dishes, and especially desserts are magnificent. The service is very friendly and highly efficient. The atmosphere is relaxed, welcoming and informal. Highly recommended.

I went there at 3pm when they are supposed to be open and they weren’t this has happened numerous times and it’s upsetting.

My partner and I came here to celebrate his birthday, everyone is so warm and welcoming and the pizza was by far the best we've ever had! For dessert we went for the tiramisu and ice cream which was delicious! There were another 2 bdays as well as an anniversary. The atmosphere was so amazing!! This is definitely the place to come celebrate! I can't recommend it enough ❤️

do not order on uber eats!!! they accept the order before the kitchen is even open… the lady on the phone then proceeded to lie to me about how the driver is missing and the food is waiting … on the app i can see the driver outside the restaurant, when i later spoke to the restaurant they lied to me again and told me that no one would ever say the food is ready and that the kitchen doesn’t open until later, so why accept my order anyway?

Wow! Recently came back from Italy and this is the closest thing in London to it! The tomato sauce was delicious and so was the mozzarella. If anything, the pizza was a bit doughy but maybe that’s because it didn’t travel well. But genuinely really good one of the best in London. The fried pizza was also really delicious, my lovely Italian girlfriend says it tasted just like home!

They gave me mayo instead of tartar sauce on two separate occasions also the food is mid not worth the price (and they don't even give you enough for the price small portions) Don't go here please save yourself from thinking you're about to have tartar sauce but they give you mayo instead worst experience of my life. Also it took like 40 minutes to get served even though there was only one other group at the restaurant, I've waited longer but the food was so bland that it was not worth the wait. I know that running a restaurant is hard I probably couldn't do it but why would you give me mayo with a little leaf on it Im not fooled I know it's mayo. Never going here again.

One of the best pizzas I have had in London. We have tried the calzone and the pizza with prosciutto, rocket, mozzarella. The pizza base with thin and crispy. I would definitely recommend.

5 Stars all round, food was delicious with a good portion size, yet not too expensive. Staff were friendly and helpful, the place was lovely and had a great atmosphere.

Fabulous local Italian restaurant. We went as a family of five, and all shared a lot more than the amazing Pizzas. Absolutely delicious Calamari, Meatballs, Aubergine Parmigiana, Seafood Tagliatelle + the Grilled Salmon....probably the best I've ever tasted, not sure how they make the skin so crispy and gorgeous, I usually pick it off + leave it! Lovely ambience and staff too. I can't wait to go back! 😀 Review after a long break. Fabulous food + great service. Many Italian diners, which is always a good sign 🤔. Be warned.....now a deservedly v busy place, so need to book! 😀

Lovely Italian restaurant, with very friendly and helpful staff. I very much enjoyed my Gnocchi Marcello and my companion their pizza diavola, nice and hot! The calamari was great too! The decor was nice as was the layout of the place. We had a quiet tasty meal at 21:00 and would definitely go back.

Lovely pizza, polite staff. Made to feel very welcome and happy for me to hang out for a couple of hours while my daughter was at a concert nearby. Restaurant was busy but service was good.

Bufi has become our local pizzeria since we moved to the area about 3 years ago. Pizza is absolutely fantastic, real napolitean style, and tiramisu is one of the best ones I have had in London. The staff are always warm and welcoming, the place is clean and the atmosphere is nice and familiar.

Tasty pizza but be warned they charge you more than the menu price. Watch out when you order from here, the menu on the door and their website isn't the price they charge you. Pizza on the menu for £12 will be charged £13.90. Asked about it and they said they hadn't had time to change the menu on the door and they were waiting for their website to be updated. Sneaky moves. I flagged this when I went there two weeks ago and they said "we just updated the menu, the website guys say it will be updated online on Monday morning"...been two weeks, old menu on website and old menu on door...I wonder how many others fell for the bait-and-switch techniques

Lovely Italian place in East Finchley. We went for a pizza and will definitely come back. Their selection is really good and the food is really tasty. Staff is nice and the atmosphere is pretty!

We popped in and were welcomed warmly even though they were very busy. Our pizza and ravioli were really delicious. Would thoroughly recommend this local Italian eatery any time you fancy a tasty night out. Enjoy.

I visited Bufi with a friend for an early dinner at around 6pm. The place was quiet when we arrived but as we ate got busier. The atmosphere was warm and friendly, and so were the staff. I ordered the Baked Gnocchi alla Sorrentina, which was delicious! The portion size was generous too - I couldn’t finish it all but it was so tasty I couldn’t bear to leave it - so I was very glad to be able to get the leftovers in a takeaway container as well. It is a really nice little spot close by to the train station, highly recommended. I will definitely be back when I am next in the area with friends. :-)

Brilliant authentic Italian restaurant. Highly recommended. Great pizza and antipasti.

This place shouldn't call itself a restaurant, and certainly not a pizzeria. Can't cook a pizza let alone anything else - dough was raw after three attempts. Place was filthy, cutlery and plates had old food stuck to them, the floors looked like they hadn't been cleaned in weeks - I can only imagine the party the rats have every night - and the menus were soggy and sticky. Basic food hygiene standards were flagrantly breached in full view of the customers. When sending back uncooked food, the loony chef came out of the kitchen shouting aggressively that his food was good (although he did slink away with tail between legs when we insisted on showing him the raw dough under the cheese). If the pizzas hadn't been raw, they still looked dreadful. Tiny amounts of very low quality toppings. The melanzane had a few chips of burnt aubergine and little else. School dinners were better than that looked. Even a simple order of a bowl of chips inexplicably went wrong. The only front of house staff was a young lady, who whilst incredibly pleasant and hardworking was entirely unable to manage the amount of business singlehanded, let alone to fix the many, many things that shouldn't have been her job - we felt sorry for her, wasting her efforts in a place like that. There was also someone who appeared to be a manageress, but apparently her only role was to attempt to charge people for food the restaurant messed up or simply failed to provide at all. It is one thing to try and charge for food we ordered and rejected as totally unsatisfactory - not a good thing, obviously - but trying to charge for food that was ordered but not served because the restaurant ran out is rather extraordinary.

i wouldnt reccommed the place. Firstly, different prices on menus so it confuses you form the start, the food (calamari and pizza) very average, could barely taste the goat cheese. There is no "italian vibe" that you would expect form this place- its very quiet, with nostalgic music playing in the background. if you are not around dont bother to travel to get there!

I do not recommend food from this place! I have ordered a pizza which was missing the majority of igrediends such as: mushrooms, basil, truffle oil. The pizza wasn't nice at all and had a "wet" dough. Very dissapointed.

Should be reported to trading standards as on ordering a bottle of wine from their menu, we were told that the price was £25 and not £22. Similarly with the carbonara not £10.95 but £13 something. The prices on the menu are the prices to be charged. " we have not had time to reprint our menus and to alter the prices with pen would not look pretty" is NOT a valid excuse. We were about to walk out, after much debate when we were assured that we would be charged the price shown on the menu. The bill arrived with the " new" prices but the increase was removed BUT the Service Charge was calculated on the more expensive price. Very naughty and illegal ?? The food itself was good.

Booked a table for 7 to celebrate sons girlfriends birthday ! Suberb cuisine Linguine frutti di mare was best tasted outside of Italy . Everyone commented on the wonder of the dishes they chose . Nonna was very impressed !!!! Excellent service ... a real find and we will certainly be spreading the word

Found the pizza base quite poor this visit and not cooked enough. Just tasted like bread.

Average italian food. Pizza is the best part. Pasta dishes were quite bland. Toilet was very dirty and not kept clean.

I can review these folks all day every day. Once again we had a brilliant meal tonight. It was great to see the venue packed to the rafters and may it continue. As always the service was great and we had, for starters, the calamari fritti and the mozzarella garlic bread and 2 seafood linguines and a chicken milanese for the mains. I cannot praise the owners, staff and food highly enough.

The pizza was nice however the staff let this place down for us and because of that we wouldn’t return. Despite booking a table we were left standing at the door for 10 minutes waiting. We were then left sitting at the table for 20 minutes before being served. The table next to us who were seated after us were served, they even had the waitress/manager? sit at their table with them speaking Italian to take their order, but we were ignored until the nice gentleman acknowledged we had been forgotten. We attempted to make eye contact with the waitress to have her acknowledge us but she was walking around with her head down, so that was impossible. As we left at approx 9pm we watched people walk in and they were told they were no longer serving pizza, only pasta. Which seemed bizarre that a pizzeria would run out of pizza dough so early.

We loved everything about this place. The service was delightful, the food looked and tasted great. Our group of 7 had a variety of starters, then pizza and pasta dishes and a couple of desserts. The Linguine con Frutti di Mare was a standout. With wines, soft drinks and coffee / tea it came to £27 a head, service included. Definitely going back there!

Booked a table to celebrate my brother in law's birthday. Food was wonderful, we ordered lots of starters and shared them all. We all had different main courses and again lovely, huge portions and what was left over was boxed up for us to take home. Just like to mention the staff who were just wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble and they second guessed everything we wanted or needed. I don't remember when we experienced such wonderful service. We will definitely return and will highly recommend.

Great place. Had a family lunch 3 x pizza and one tagliatelle. One of our party had gluten free pizza. Said it was best ever.

Once again we had a wonderful meal... The couple that own the restaurant were as lovely as before (the lady remembered us), their son, Lorenzo (who made our first visit oh so memorable back in 2019) was not around. All I'll say this time is that the food is consistent and matches the excellent service and warmth of the owners!! You can't go wrong with a meal here.. We'll definitely be back.

We’ve had take-away pizza from here several times and it’s always delicious. They use really high quality ingredients and the service is always really welcoming and friendly.
