Best food and lots of variety of food

Absolutely the most terrible experience I ever have in my life,food are all frozen food obviously. Not to mention that it's not worth the price. The whole experience is scary than a horror movie, you guys should really shame on yourself. The staff are kind and have a good smiling to the customers but I could feel that they're absolutely not enjoying and even hate this job, those managers were doing absolutely nothing and rude, they're just the worst human being I've ever seen. As I seen all of them are Asian, I could assume that the restaurant is run by Asian, I swear those tips that customers gave must be all gone into those manager and the owner pocket, cuz I also have a couple of experience of working in an Asian restaurant, It's a terrible sweatshop experience. Honestly, I rate it 1 star cuz Google wouldn't allow me to rate it minus, it's a mercy to rate it 1 star already.

Staff were very attentive which is hard to find. Excellent.

Most awful experience ending up with severe sickness and diarrhoea from food poisoning. Not sure where other people who have left food reviews have been eating but the food was poor and the meat just cheap and fatty. Also making a charge for my 1 year old grandson, who had his own baby food with him, is outrageous. I most certainly will NOT be visiting this restaurant ever again!!

It's my go to place anytime I want a good meal in town. I am a regular customer there😂

Really expensive for not much to choose from.

We visited here today it was relatively quiet. Food was nice and there was plenty of choice. People complaining about the price you are effectively getting a 3 course meal out (all you can eat) and a drink for under £26 that's not bad at all nowadays. The prices are clearly shown before you enter the restaurant as is the height restriction for kids prices. If you're not happy paying the price or paying your child as an adult don't go in lol. It's very simple really. I experienced hard working staff in a local business trying to compete and survive in a hard industry. I will definitely be back.

Staff struggled to understand English false advertisement my two kids fitted in for the kids meal and they charged me for an extra adult and not going to refund it and make it a child

My daughter 11years went with her bestie and mum and grandma. The food was ok. However I’m disgusted that as she’s over 4ft 11 she was charged an adult price. Absolute disgrace!!! She literally had a few chicken nuggets few chips and ice cream and was changed over £20!!!! The food was drab will never come back again

First time visit to Buffet King and it was a pleasure. The staff are excellent and really attentive, the speed at which they clear tables and plates away is amazing. The food is yummy with a great selection of Asian food and at no point did any of the buffet run out. So it was an absolute delight to eat at Buffet King and I highly recommend it.

Having not been to this eatery for sometime, today we thought we would give it a go. Unfortunately it reminded us of why we stopped eating here! The weekend buffet at the cost of £22.90 per person. They kept running out of meals on the buffet, when I say running out simply choosing not to put it out! I can understand that shredded duck is probably the more expensive dish, however, no prawn crackers, chips, sweet and sour chicken, shrimp, ribs or ice-cream. The main dishes were hit and miss, a number did not get replaced, some were just warm. There was loads of rice and noodles, jelly and soggy cake if you wanted to fill up on that. When we went to pay, the very nice lady at the till asked 'was everything ok' I explained that we were disappointed for the reasons above. Her response was the ice-cream machine was broken and it was dinner time so they don't have time to replenish food all the time. We had a similar experience the last time we ate here some 6+ years ago! A number of people were complaining to each other about the the lack of dishes being out too. The nice lady at the till did say she would pass on our comments on but....

After a horrendous and long travel / flight experience just prior, I came here very hungry. The eat all you can buffet was perfect for me and sooo delicious! I can recommend!

Paid £54.40 for 2 entry’s and 2 Pepsi. Some of the food was hot and some was cold. There was no flavour or taste to any of the food and was very dry. Also no ice cream? The options for desert were a pot of jelly or fruit. Waste of money would go elsewhere when in the metro centre.

Poor quality food, chewy chicken/pork/beef and little taste in main courses. Desserts they thought it was ok to tell folk there was no icecream as machine broken!, with no alternative options offered! Service was really good but this in no way will compensate for poor quality food at an extortionate cost. Poor food at rip-off rates, we used to love this place but won't be back.

Food just warm , bland flavour, unable to cut through the meat with a knife and fork, so chewy had to dispose of it discretly. No icecream or alternative. BUMMER COST ME £35 +.....Wont go sgain🤨

The food was nice. Chinese soup was great for me. Tried salad, very fresh. Plenty choice. Also can go many times to filling the plates. Cupcakes were excellent. Fair price.

Food tasted disgusting,they were extremely rude to the children,the place smelt like rotten fish,they were measuring the kids heights also they tried charging my son with an adult meal because he was taller then the measure meter.

Not been here in a while . Has gone down hill , food only just warm and not much flavour, had to wait for food to be filled up and when it was still only warm . I mentioned this on paying which is now £17.50 each and they were not bothered , so do they care if you've enjoyed your meal .... NO . I will not be going there again !!!!!

This place site has ganged over the years and now doesn’t seem to offer the same quality as food. One major issue now is “tipping” where you are asked verbally when given the card machine to pay which does put you on the spot. It’s very rare I don’t leave a tip or round Up but to be asked out loudly with people queuing around you simply shouldn’t be the way. I don’t even mind if they include a service charge but to be added is just irritating.

I feel sorry for the server her manager told her to tell my friend that if he’s not eating he’s not allowed in the restaurant because they charge per person and they made him feel unwelcome saying next time we should clarify at the door one because they’ve already put it on the system even though that’s not our fault. Probably wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone after this.

Despite the rubbish posted recently, the staff are all friendly and helpful, the food is hot and very tasty. 10/10. Love this place.

Decided to have lunch here while we were at metro centre wish we hadn’t bothered was 12pm so food should of been piping hot it was luke warm dishes were mediocre not much taste watery sauces delicious don’t understand why they let children poke and prod food around the buffet should make it adults only allowed to sort food for children and no kids around food areas didn’t understand why price went up for a Sunday definitely wouldn’t rush back or recommend to anyone

£97 pound for a disgrace of a buffet because it was seafood ....what seafood crab sticks in a non seasoned watery liquid tiny salt n pepper prawns ,mussels were horrendous in a bland sauce had meats beside the seafood when my partner is allergic to seafood ! Every single thing was bland not very much choices for £22.50 pp including children is beyond me will definitely not be back

I recently went to this place, we were greeted at the door,,I was with my daughter, daughter in law, and 3 grandkids ages 14, 8, 17months, I was told it was £22.50 per adult, £9 50 each for the kids, and £3.50 for baby, we agreed on the prices,and entered the place, first. I was disappointed in the souo, the hot and sour soup wasn't nice at all[ when I go to Chinese restaurant I always have this soup, ) that was was the worst, I couldn't eat it, the kids had salad, and noodle, as the choice for them was very poor....I went back for main course, no prawn crackers, whats all this about I thought ,Chinese with no prawn crackers humm... I had noodles, chicken and red cabbage, the chicken was cold, I could now understand why the kids wouldn't eat the noodles, absolutely tasteless...we all tried different things ,but left the food, as it was terrible...we had Pepsi, and english teas...im not usual a Coke drinker...but it was OK...nxt was the bill, I thought in my head, it would come to approximately £120 ...I went to pay, and they said £133.50....I paid the bill, I read the receipts they charged me full price for the 14 year old, I challenge the bill, she said we go on height, if that was the case,im daughter was under 4ft 11, even thou she a adult she only small, and they charged full.price for her lol...I explained to the girl on till, that the meet and greet girl, has told us that the 14 year old would be £9.50 ...she basically called me a lier, it's not the extra money I paid, was the issue really, it's the facts they all lied to me, while we were in the place, we were there an hour, in that time, we were stared at by staff, making us feel really uncomfortable, we felt that they wanted our table for other customers.. it not that we ate loads either, infact after we left, the kids wanted macdonalds as they said they hungry, after that huge bill for very little food, I would definitely say not value for money, this is how the experience of this place was for us...not recommended, I definitely wouldn't return, they got our money this time, but enjoy it, cos we are not going to be a returning customers

currently sat in the buffet King. the plates and cutlery are soaking wet and cold. The ice cream scoop bowl has scum on the top. every time I've took a bite they lean over to pick a plate. spraying tables when peaple leave andvwhile you eat. I'll not come back.

Basic buffet in and out. Simple food not great not bad.

I was put off by all the bad reviews, but I tried it anyway. The food was great and fresh food was coming out all the time. Just goes to show you shouldn’t always listen to the reviews.

If you can eat a lot this place is perfect for you. Lots of choices and friendly staff.

This restaurant is ok. Has let itself down over last year or so. The staff are friendly enough. You need to be out of the restaurant before 5pm if you are not out by 5pm you will be charged the evening price. So in my opinion be in by 4pm so you can enjoy your meal without being charged the evening prize.

Love this place! It's a Chinese buffet with a wide range of foods. I like that I can try dishes I wouldn't normally order, Thai curry, for example. The food is well presented, tastes great, and there is a good range of deserts. The jelly and ice cream and the cakes come highly recommended 😋

Decent enough food. Decent enough atmosphere. But they are taking the mick with their pricing! £21.90 per head. Plus drinks (£3 for a tiny coke). And then almost demand a tip. Not going back. Just nowhere near worth the price.

Went as part of a work day trip. Lovely buffet, hot and lots to choose from.

My friend and I stopped by to grab some quick lunch and we enjoyed the foods, definitely recommend.

Me and my wife had lunch there today ,I thought the food was fresh and delicious much better than any Chinese buffet I've been to in the past. The service was excellent with lots of polite staff. Will definitely vist again the next time we're in the metro.

Hello, I would not recommend this place unless you are looking for food poisoning and cold food. My partner had the chicken wings and it was pink and I don't mean a little bit pink I mean like it had been cooked for all of 2 minutes kind of pink Second thing thing is most of the food we had was cold and a bit tasteless. The staff also kept staring at us and made us feel super uncomfortable. I'm unsure if it was because we are gay or if they just hate people who point out issues with their food.

Two buffet choice in the metro and we made the wrong choice. The price was absolutely ridiculously overpriced, £70 for 2 adults 1 child and 1 infant… all with one soft drink, to then be asked how much tip to add onto my bill at the end! Very cheeky and the man at the paying desk was plain rude. Food was adequate, nothing special but a lot of the tickets didn’t match the dish. Not worth the money at all.

Went to this restaurant yesterday when it first opened. We hope by going early that food was fresh, little did we think that some of the food was uncooked and others over cooked. We was put right off and only ended up eating desert which was okish… Management try to offer a 10% discount of a £103 bill for eating zero. We finally got a 50% reduction which is better. However this has put us off going back ever again. Very disappointed!

Will never go back as they measured my 9 year old granddaughter as tried to charge as adult and still charged £66 for 2 adults 1 2 year old and 9 year old and payed by card tried to pressurise me into adding tips to my bill , it wasn't the best or warmest either even though it had just opened

The food tasted wrong, like it had been stood for long periods yet it was very busy so that shouldn'thave been the case, the chicken was as dry as sticks, the cantonese sauce had a nasty taste to it, myself and my son were very disappointed, the beef in black bean was the only thing that was quite nice..I informed the staff on the way out and i did get an apology, but I will not be going back nor will I recommend

Very expensive. £22.50 per person and the food wasn't good. They seemed to just add a load of spice for some flavour but it was horrible. The pepsi max was flat. Small glass for £2.50

We visited this Chinese buffet restaurant on a busy weekday lunchtime in August, but we were seated immediately in a quiet corner as requested. There were plenty of dishes to choose from, a great salad bar, and a choice of desserts. Everything I tasted was cooked perfectly, and the chefs were bringing out fresh food all the time. Everywhere,including the toilets, was very clean and well maintained. Staff were incredibly attentive, maybe a little too much at times,checking everything was OK with our food and drinks. It was nice but expensive.

Outrageous restaurant! Conning folks into paying adult prices for a child/children who doesn't meet their 'height' requirements. My partner and I were told to stand the children against the height measurement to determine whether our children would a pay kid or adult price. Both of them are 10 years old and we were told we had to pay £22.90 each, instead of the £9.90! I dont care what anyone says but that is disgusting.

The food was OK but for 21.50 per adult wasn't much to write home about and we weren't informed about the 10% service charge as we had 7 guests. It's a self service buffett! Total rip off

Rang to see how much and where they based and the ladie on the phone was rude and hang the phone on me !! Havent even been and not even going as this shows what servise this food place got learn how to speak english propply if you want to serve customers instead of not understanding and hanging the phone !!

Food was absolutely fine; tasty enough, nothing special but you don’t go to a buffet like this for the best food you’ve ever tasted. It’s all cheap frozen stuff made to taste good. The problems I have with buffet king are mainly down to price and the way they conduct the business. First of all, charging for a baby to eat is downright ridiculous. Fair enough, you’ve got to make money but an extra £3.50 for a baby to eat too is just gross and then when we said no to paying it we got a funny look. (He’s only just turned one and couldn’t eat a plate of food and was more than happy with bits off my plate.) But yeah, made us feel a bit on edge feeding him after avoiding the baby tax. Secondly, the price was extortionate. £48 for two people only one of us opted for a paid drink as my partner wanted tap water. That’s a hell of a lot of money considering much of it is low cost frozen food. Last, the staff are lovely by the way like really lovely but they seem to be paid to pace up and down the aisles like a death squad. It does damage the atmosphere quite a bit. If you’re going to charge such a large price for the buffet you’re going to need a much better selection - Inshanghai in Durham really outdoes this place in its selection.

Buffet King is a must-visit at Gateshead Metrocentre! Incredible variety, delicious food, and a lively atmosphere. Perfect for family dinners or a meal with friends. Highly recommend!

Unfortunately we paid dearly for a few chips, boiled rice and curry sauce. A distinct lack of vegetarian main meal options - only stir fry vegetables with the veg being so hard you couldn't bite it without losing a tooth! Very expensive lesson learned. Service was excellent

Everything is fresher here than other eat all you can places. We like it so much we keep going back. Wish they did a drink deal but alas they don't. Getting pricey at £22.90.

Ideal for multi choices of diffirent dishes. Quality of foods are standard for buffet restaurants. You know what to expect. Staff are at exceptional service.

Went for the first time in years. Grand buffet, which is after 5 and includes duck.£21.90 per person. Massive choice of food. Did find it very salty which I suppose is to promote eating less and drinking more.it made everything taste the same. Won't be hurrying back.

Buffet King? I don't think so Not enough variety for vegetarian or vegan diets No tofu. Not enough veg . Alcohol choices very lackluster £10.90 too much for substandard food . Would i go back? No.

Food is great service is great my only fault was it was too hot in there but don't think they could do much about it still a nice place to eat(edit) Just been in again today as a group of 6 like many previous visits and to be told that because they didn't have a table big enough there would be a 10% service charge to have 2 tables pushed together, absolutely ridiculous so thanks buffet king we will not be returning again you totally took liberties so have lost a customer never again

Excellent quality food and great selection

Arrived at lunch time to find all of the dishes we tried were luke warm. Spoke to the servers who were apologetic and said they would get hot food from the kitchen. I asked to speak to the manager as this was a health risk, the manager was rude and unprofessional, I felt she was accusing me of making it up and kept saying I wanted a cheap meal- I did agree I would expect a discount as we had a starter and hardly touched the mains before asking for the bill. They offered such a small discount on the bill I didn’t notice it - I didn’t think this was acceptable and said I wasn’t happy paying that much for terrible food- absolutely shocking manager and food- other staff were nice - won’t be back

beware they tried to scam me . paid for the meal with my card...checked receipt and they had put a service charge on the bill of nearly £10 ....very sneaky ...so the man who took payment done this ...so tell them no service charge...

Looks like they have dropped the standards in past one year. I see many new faces probably I could day the old staff and year ago where much customer friendly but now all I see is some serious faces. The highlight part was the staff itself where talking back about their managers and place looks like they themselves don't want to work here but are forced too. The food quality have dropped down compared to past 8months. Would be my last visit definitely would not recommend as of now.

I love buffet king!! Great choice of food, eat as much as you like, but the same as any buffet, some of the dishes may be luke warm depending how long they've been out. That said, I'll go back time and time again.

We’ve been coming here for at least the last 13 years and originally it was the best Chinese buffet we knew. However, over the last couple of years, prices have increased (as they have in most places), but the standards have declined to the point where we won’t be coming again. The Chicken and sweetcorn soup had no chicken in, and was watery and tasteless. Lots of chicken and pork deep fried dishes that were overcooked and dry, and the curries were watery. Bill for 4 including soft drinks (1 each) was £90 !! The quality does not justify the price !! Service was poor. Our table had not been cleared until we started our desserts, and some of the staff are rude when negotiating the buffet area, expecting you to navigate around them when you are walking with a plate in your hand.

Excellent food and well prepared. Very clean environment, ambience lovely. You don't have too many plates piled up before they clear up your table for the next round. I really enjoyed the background music that goes together with the food 😁. Basically, I enjoyed every bit of my time there. Would definitely be going back for some more chow mein.

Excellent selection of dishes, all cooked beautifully. The only one that wasn't quite up to scratch was the 'Chef's Special' where the flavour was nice but the chicken pieces were tough and difficult to cut, as if the meat had been boiled. I may have missed it but there didn't seem to be any indication on the labels of which dishes are spicy/hot and you couldn't always tell from the name. We were seated inside in the corner and the wall there could do with a scrub down or repainting, it was a bit grubby. The staff were very pleasant and welcoming and we were offered a top up of hot water for our tea which I thought was great. Overall, although not a particularly cheap option for food we were very happy and will visit again.

I used to love this place as the vegetarian options were great, but it seems like it has removed quite a lot of the dishes and there does not appear to be as many options. It's a lot of money for the limited variety, and even the kids struggled with choice, one of which was charged full price because of his height!

I enjoyed the diverse food options at Buffet King in the Metro Centre. The flavors were fantastic, but I found the gluten-free choices limited, which could be improved for a more inclusive dining experience. The waiters were attentive.

My family were surprised to see a good choice of food at this restaurant because we were visiting Newcastle on holidays. It’s not like London but to be honest they were great to provide such good service and warm welcome. The food was good as well with quite a few variety to choose from. I liked their salad counter. I recommend this place for anyone visiting Newcastle. Reasonably priced as well. Thank you team Buffet King.

Excellent restaurant, impeccable service, amazing atmosphere. I couldn't ask for much more. Waiters were always offering to help. Perfect for families wanting to do a night out. Keep up the great work. Very few places could top this.
