Terrible. Nothing set up for us even tho booked waited an hour for food which was wrong when arrived .frozen stuff anyway. 10 had eaten 2 still left to eat made to pay upfront when it was all wrong.just a mess all.of it would never go back.

Firstly the decor to this beautiful place is amazing, very warm and vibrant. The new landlord is very welcoming and polite. The food is amazing and the chef is very welcoming and polite, it's old fashion values that go along way and this place has it! I would recommend 100% it has a good level of background music, the car park it free, the pub itself is very well set out and clean. We will be visiting on a more regular basis. Keep up the amazing work.

Where do I begin?! Visited today for the first time in a couple of years and what a gent Chris, the new landlord, is. His knowledge pertinent to the local railway heritage, especially the Wetherby and Garforth lines, and is indispensable. He told me the last carriage to stop here was back in 1999, a BR Mk1 to be precise. Luckily there were no locomotives or drawhooks attached to this one! I look forward to calling back again in the near future, hopefully Chris will have all the finishing pieces for his N gauge model railway and can then give me a run through his layout. Thoroughly enjoyed our food and Guinness too, may I add! Thank you everyone at the Buffers, Mike D.

Warm, cosy place on a chilly day. Great service, very accommodating to dietary needs. Good value and range of food choices. Team are friendly and welcoming. Nice background tunes. Came with parents for my 60th Birthday. A very enjoyable lunch, will come back.

Unfortunately there is nothing good to say about the food. Went for Sunday roast what they severed up was appalling and what was sad was the manager and staff didn't seem bothered and thought people would pay good money for rubbish. All meals returned and money refunded. One to avoid

Great atmosphere with attentive staff

Updated Dec 2024 - still dog friendly/, well done. A lovely local in an expanding village setting. Polite staff and above average portions of food - order with care if you only want a light bite ! Look out for special events - Halloween and Christmas 😁

New management with large menu and plenty of options. I've been for a couple of the food items/beers and not been let down. Food is very warm and set at a great price.

Absolutely horrendous.virtually no food available on the menu.No Sunday menu either. When we did manage to find something order a man came from the kitchen to tell us one of our choices was not on the greatly reduced menu and then walked off again without asking what we wanted to do. I had to go up to the bar to sort it out. When the food came, some of the meat dishes were luke warm so inedible. Knives and forks weren’t offered. And when we eventually got given some there were not enough for us all. No apologies at all for any of it. It was the most abysmal meal I’ve ever eaten in my life. I’m shocked no one offered us anything by way of apology. Avoid

New landlord and doing a great job. Friendly atmosphere and cosy pub - no food being served as yet but new menu is due in early December, can't wait to go and try it.

Lovely Father’s Day Sunday roast dinner, large Yorkshire pudding, 2 large slices of very tender beef, roast potatoes, cabbage, carrots and nice gravy, the staff are very friendly and accommodating, would highly recommend

Serves truly scrumptious food ! Delicious & filling. 5/5 ☆☆☆☆☆ We're always greeted with a warm yorkshire welcome by the landlady and staff .. superb customer service. Great atmosphere. Great music.

Lovely pub with a great atmosphere. The building itself has some nice character features as a nod to its previous use 🚂 Food was perfect and the staff couldn’t do enough to help. We will certainly be returning.

What a great little pub not been in for over 20 years but looking on Google thought we would give it a try. On arrival suprised only a few locals in having a couple of drinks. The staff member was friendly and very welcoming. Food was so good, think its the best burger ive had in a very long time. Can't believe it wasnt busy !!!! Will definitely be recommending it to family and friends and can't wait to go back xxx

Really cool railway inspired pub with plenty of seating space with a nice 🍺 garden. The Sunday roast was rather nice I've been told but I went for the Sirloin which was just delicious - fully recommended.

What a disappointment! We last visited some time ago and this lovely little pub seems to have gone to the dogs. We ordered drinks, unfortunately before we were told that no food was being served that day. We went to sit out side in the dirty little beer garden, strewn with rubbish and broken glass under the table and in fact were so disgusted we left our drinks and went elsewhere. The whole place needs refurbishing and it needs a good clean outside to bring it back to the Buffers we remember so well!

The Pub itself is brilliant. Great decor and friendly staff. The one big let down is the outside seating area/ beer garden. The grass isn't cut and there are mudded areas. There is a horrible kiddies play slide that looks disgusting! The tables and chairs under the veranda on the old platform are dirty and you need to wipe them before sitting down. If someone spent a day sorting it all out it would look far better.

What a lovely pub!!! Not been here since it changed owners but what a gem. The decor is inkeeping with the history. We came for Sunday lunch, you do need to book however they fit us in ( table of 4) it's just a small menu, but I cannot say the same about the portion size!!! We couldn't clear our plate. Beautifully cooked meat does have a veggie option and you can request a small portion. The atmosphere is lovely and laid back, the service is fantastic. Could not find a single fault. We will be back again and will book in advance next time.

Has been refurbished really nicely. Lunchtime food lovely. Service spot on. A little quiet but deserves to be a lot busier. Give it a try.

Disappointing experience as although arrived at 1.20 on a Sunday halfway along our 10 mile walk and looking forward to a well earned bite to eat as advertised as home cooked food and cask ales, we were told that there were no more spaces for lunch. There were clearly plenty of tables both inside and out. Perhaps there were staffing issues or no chef but some honesty would have been appreciated. Managed to get a decent sandwich at the friendly corner shop across the road. Will not be visiting again.

Great place & very friendly. Dropped in after house viewing in area and it was so good you convinced us to put an offer in! Food was lovely & service superb. I’m hoping this will be my new ‘local’.

Went here for the first time in over 20 years after moving away from the area. I remember the old train carriage which has now gone. Great helpful service. Good range of food and drinks. Hadn't booked but wanted to spend time with family and my granddaughter.

Went here for the first time with some friends. Staff lovely. Had the chicken burger and was worth every penny. Would definitely be going again.

Me and my husband took my mum here for Mothers Day Lunch. We pre-booked. I had the chicken smothered in garlic mushrooms with seasonal veg and they both had whale (cod), chips and mushy peas - see photo for Sunday menu and prices. The fish and chips were well cooked (not insipid looking), the cod was whale sized and tasty - they both enjoyed it. I had the chicken which was beautifully cooked, the chicken being nice and moist and looked good with a colourful display of parsnips, carrots, peas, broccoli, red cabbage and roasties. Forgot to take photos of the mains as too busy to launch into eating it. Husband had a baked cheesecake with summer fruit compote - which I of course had to taste test for him and it was delicious. Staff were warm, friendly and engaging. Plenty of parking on site and dining is all on one level. They also have a beer garden. Had a good refurb since we last went pre-lockdown. This place is definitely back on our radar now.

Just been for the first time and it definitely won't be the last! A lovely, Quirky pub that was once an old railway station, lots of rail memorabilia all over which is interesting to look at. Food was fantastic! Visited on a Sunday so had the Sunday lunch menu. Ordered the beef and gammon lunches which was a traditional roast with fresh veg, huge Yorkshire pudding, delicious thick gravy and loads of meat! Son had fish and chips, proper home cooked chips and a good size fish! Starters and desserts also good quality and good size portions. Well kept cask beer, friendly bar man and waitress and great prices! Thank you for a lovely Sunday afternoon

We attended on Sunday as a group of 13. The food was tasty and the staff lovely. We had a 3 course Sunday lunch and wasn't disappointed. I hadn't been for to The Buffers for at least 10 years prior and what an improvement has been made. Not only was the staff and food lovely, but the pub has also undergone a full refurbishment, which only added to the experience. We will definitely be returning, thank you for the lovely meal and great service!

The food was great and the gent that served us was absolutely brilliant. One of those people where you just know he loves his job and it shines through. Couldn't recommend it enough

Went to a party, Sat evening. Good choice of drinks at bar, service prompt. Disco was far too loud to sit inside, party goers stayed outside. Had to sit on bench seats with decent clothes on!

Meal was ok drink was very cheap and good.

There were 3 adults and 1 Child, we ordered 2 Roast Beef Dinners an Adults Fish and Chips and kids Chicken nuggets cheesy beans and chips. 3 Desserts which were scrummy plus 2 pints lemonade and two teas which came to just over £72.00 which we thought was very reasonable indeed. The meals and desserts were delicious the pub itself is lovely and clean and spacious and on top of all this the staff were exceptional. We would recommend this pub for drinks and food.

Best fish and chips I have had in a long long time

We visited on a Saturday lunchtime, 4 adults for a few drinks and food. Lovely surroundings off the old railway sidings, within easy reach of the A64 and the new ELOR (to be called A6120 orbital ring Rd). Lunch was servered from noon. Very nice, average pub prices but larger than average portion sizes! Well worth a visit but don't "over order" :)

Was good food, large size of mushy peas, get overpowering, can't see anybody eating that much, the other portions was ok, a bit expensive . Was going to get mixed grill and it probably would have been nice but at I think over £20.00 was a bit rich for lunchtime menu. When you can get sufficient at other places for less. Would go again. My brother goes there often.

Pleasant place for lunch. Food average.

It has a local sort of feel to it. People nearby are relaxed enough to exchange a few words. The decor is improving. Even though there was a disco going on a couple of rooms away, the music wasn't intrusive. The food was well presented and tasted great!

Food outstanding and definitely value for money, you will never walk out of here hungry. The mix grills are huge, my husband and son had one and neither could finish. I had a lunch time light bite of bbq smothered chicken which was the size of a normal meal from anywhere else and defo no light night , again value for money. Staff really really nice, attentive and.made you feel very welcome. Will defo be back.

Popped in late on Sunday, the food had finished but the team were accommodating and let us have a Sunday roast which was amazing, the most delicious Turkey roast I have tasted in a long time. Great service with a smile and very warm and welcoming now the fab refurb has completed. 10 out of 10

Had a roast beef dinner today and oh my god it was to die for 😍 The best home cooked roast dinner out, out! Definitely be back very soon!! And by the way…………the chocolate pudding was to die for too 😍

Cool Theme of pub, railway . well furnished, comfortable seating Nice selection of food at a good price Definitely visit again. Had 2 pies, delicious and homemade with very generous amount of meat, 1pie could have fed 2 people!

Sunday lunch was disappointing. Tough fatty beef,Yorkshire puds burnt on top and soggy underneath. Our first visit after many years, however,we won't be rushing back!!

Superb people with excellent food

Disappointing meal. Staff very pleasant but service slow. Had fish, chips & mushy peas at £12.95. Fish was okay, chips had skin on which was not mentioned on menu & would have preferred normal chips. Mushy peas was a solid green block and they were barely warm.

Plenty of space to socialize, indoor / out heated, we approximately 40 plus after Funeral event found a lovely warm greeting from all staff, try for yourself, ( hopefully not For similar reason, you won' t be sorry.) Best to all PHILL.

Good service, atmosphere & food.

Went today for drinks and we had a starter each and my niece had a kids meal .. consisting of 1 sausage chips and beans cost £5 which I think is very steep and then charged extra for a kids drink to. Beers is good price though and service was good .

Enjoyed a lovely Sunday dinner today at the buffers. First time here for me, though my husband has been before. Staff was so friendly and welcoming on our arrival. I ordered Pork loin Sunday dinner with trimmings and my husband ordered beef Sunday dinner. The food was delicious with gravy to die for and a homemade yorkshire pudding. We requested more gravy and the staff brought us a large helping 😋. I will definitely be returning. The staff are very attentive and polite. Prices are affordable and reasonable. Thankyou for a lovely Sunday lunch to the buffers, I will be telling my Friends and family about this little hidden gem.
