Buba in Belfast

Really disappointed after a few very good visits. The food now appears to be pre-packaged and it wasn’t very inspiring. Previously, the food was excellent and tasty but not now. The service was good but the bill was just plonked on the table without a word and 10% added. I would not return unless I thought the food had returned to the original standard.

Expensive food for what you get, difficult to attract waiters attention probably because they already add the service charge on to the bill. We won't be back.

Nice decor and vegetarian tapas. We were told by 2 different servers that the table was required back at 7pm. It was 5.30. Told again at 6pm. Then again at 6.15pm. Even whilst being handed the dessert menus, we were told we would need to order quickly as the table was needed at 7pm. We left at 6.30pm with no dessert and £170 lighter. Assume the staff do not feel like they need to provide good service since a 10% tip is already added to the bill. Will not be going back or recommending.

My partner and I went here as they were getting good reviews for the vegan menu and it didn't disappoint! I had the vegan ragu and my partner had the vegan burger so that I could try that too, both were amazing, the Ragu blew my mind, incredibly tasty, the spices they used were unique and so flavoursome. I honestly cannot wait to go back, from the staff, food, atmosphere, dessert and cocktails, it was such a great experience. Highly recommended, the main menu looked good too, the kitchen is completely open so we could see all of the food coming out and it all looked beautiful, competitive pricing but so worth the money for our dishes. You can book a slot for a table online and I'm glad we did as every table was filled.

Overpriced diner-type food. Had high hopes for this place after seeing the menu and reviews on google. It’s an in-and-out quick turnaround venue. Felt rushed the whole time, the starter showed promise albeit the cauliflower taco was lashed in sweet chili sauce and there wasn’t much flavour besides that. I ordered the vegan burger- disappointing in size and flavour. Mimicked a McDonald’s. My partner ordered the vegan Ragu. Quorn at best. We ordered a few mock tails which were the best part of the experience. Paid over £65 for both meals and one drink each. In and out in less than an hour. We don’t be back nor could we honestly recommend this place to others.

Poor service. We were greeted with a very rude welcome from the front of house- would have left before eating only for the weather was so bad outside. Service staff did make up for the guy at front of house. Food was nice.

How fantastic to be invited to try out Buba’s new menu; a return to the classic Mediterranean/Asian cuisine for which Buba had become renowned, including plenty of veggie options, Buba’s flame grilled burgers, tacos, spicy kebabs and lots more. This menu is perfect for sharing a variety of dishes-either a few Smalls per person or as we did, a Small and a Big as a starter and main. We started with the King Prawns, nestled in Shrimp crackers, which had been sizzled in chilli butter, with a pink peppercorn & pineapple salsa, and smoky chipotle ketchup, and a portion of Fried Cauliflower Tacos on soft corn tortillas with scallions, sesame, and a sticky Korean BBQ glaze. For mains, the Buba Spiced Beyond was a rich, North African spiced vegan ragu, in a chilli jam, with house sauce and fresh mint, and the perfectly flame grilled Irish Salmon was served on cauliflower cream, with tomato tapenade. And all mains came with a choice of sides; the Buba Bravas and Barbecued Seasonal Vegetables perfectly complemented our dishes. To finish, the delightfully wobbly Espresso Martini Panna Cotta with hints of orange and chocolate was a light, creamy finish to a terrific meal. With a new menu to suit all tastes, friendly service, a great range of cocktails, and a reasonably priced quality wine list, Buba remains a brilliant little restaurant in the heart of the Cathedral Quarter.

One of the best culinary experiences! The Hanna's Sugar Pit Irish Pork chops with the orange sauce was to die for, and what a big portion, I also took half for it for home. The sweet fried potatoes with the chilli sauce and parmesan were such a temptation, and the Buttermilk Panacotta with chocolate was a very light delicious dessert that I did not want to finish. The waiter and the waitress were very attentive and polite. Loved the lanterns installation. I forgot the yummy Mango daquiri. Overall an experience that caused me food orgasms and therefore I strongly recommend it!

We used to go to Buba quite a lot but when it changed to being a largely high end burger restaurant we had stopped going.Having heard that the menu was changing back to the small plates mediterranean place it had previously been we decided to go back. we had a very good experience ,the food was great as was the service. The menu includes small plates with king prawns, grilled pork belly and bigger plates like hangar steak kebab,Irish pork chop ,spice lamb,They still do burgers but a more limited menu .The restaurant was very busy on a Saturday night and the atmosphere was great Highly recommend and suggest booking to avoid disapointment

Ate here when I was in Belfast with work. The two guys who served us were fantastic and helpful. Had the spiced lamb with buba bravas which was really good. The coconut margaritas were amazing, and thanks for telling me how to make the spiced syrup so I can make them at home 😀

Food was tasty but a bit underwhelming for the price. About £12 for a burger, no side included - it lacked any flare. We’d chicken tenders to start and they looked and tasted bought in, frozen - not really what you’d expect from a city centre restaurant. I’d agree with other reviews, the red plastic baskets are a bit off putting. On the plus side staff were really attentive and friendly.

Amazing lunch! We decided to come here as everywhere else in main Belfast town was heaving and we had heard good reviews of here. Omg will deffo be back!! Very underwhelmed if I’m being honest. Burger nothing like the website. Plain sides. For the price paid for the meal and what was placed in front of me I’m sorry to say I wouldn’t rush back. The old set up was amazing and I don’t know why it was changed. Shame.
