Do yourself a favour - just go to HOMEGROUND! It’s more or less the same price for an actual high end breakfast/brunch experience. . Two pre-cooked, takeaway, breakfast sandwiches, eggs done in microwave, £15. Ate it mainly because it cost that much and for fuel on the fells, but genuinely about a 2/10 breakfast sandwich. . The cakes are extortionate. A medium Christmas cake that would be £1-£2 in the shops, £12.20. There’s billing something as high end and there’s just greed and taking the ….! . Staff friendly.

This is a genuine review: Visited this branch recently, with family looking for good sandwiches, but unfortunately, it didn’t live up to our expectations. We ordered two jacket potatoes, which were OK, good quality ingredients. Ordered a roast turkey sandwich for my daughter but it was wrapped so poorly that it fell apart and ended up in the bin. The service experienced while choosing the ingredients was disappointing. When we were served, we were met with a surprisingly loud and unfriendly tone, which felt unprofessional and made us feel uncomfortable. Regrettably, our visit was not a pleasant one, it could have been better, if at least we were treated professionally.

One of the best places to eat in Bowness. If your going out for the day take their freshly made sandwiches and cakes. Made with top quality produce. Upstairs enjoy the lovely seating area with good service a lovely place for people to spend some time. When your holiday is coming to end don't forget to drop by and choose some tea, coffee, fruit preserves or family sized cakes to take home. Enjoys the taste of the area after your holiday.

Me and my wife popped in for a coffee on our walk through Windermere, and thought this place would be nice. Should’ve thought twice!! Most members of staff were lovely. However, one member (older lady), was HORRIBLE to my wife! Spoke in a really sharp and harsh tone to her which really upset her! Had a face of thunder as she was walking around too which wasn't nice to see, felt targeted because we were a young couple. If you’re going to hire staff, get someone who can COPE with the busy environments of a tea room, and NOT someone who takes out their stress on the customers! Not happy at all

AWFUL. Ordered Jacket Potato with Salad. Started eating and then noticed a little head poking up out of the salad, it was a large red worm! Called over the waitress (who to be fair did sort of say sorry) and she took it away. Brought another potato but I was so put off I couldn't have any more than a bite of it as I felt sick to my stomach. They charged us for the meal when we left, I felt so sick that I wasn't in the mood to argue. My face however I am sure showed how unimpressed I was. No apology or anything other than a slightly unbothered sorry from the waitress. The chef didn't obviously give one.... Absolutely appalled. NEVER had such a terrible service anywhere. Stay clear. I didn't rate this place for breakfasts, although the cakes and pastries downstairs looked top notch. The buns seems slightly toasted but ended up feeling stale not toasted. The whole thing felt rushed like the main aim was to get you to leave as soon as possible. If you purchase food in the shop downstairs you can't take it upstairs to eat. I've no objection to that but it seems to be a common mistake with two sets of people falling foul of it while I was there, perhaps better signage is needed

Customers who bought some of the scones out of the shop will have had a shock when they too discovered they were raw. Won't be returning.

MORE AT Google

Visited here today. I came in with 3 friends, looked at the menu and realised there wasn’t anything I could eat as per a disease I have - meaning I have a very strict diet. Which was no problem, as my diet is awkward, and I tend not to eat out for this reason and cook for myself at home. However the group I was with loved the menu, and rightly so.. as if I could eat here, the food looked bloody delicious with tons of options (but just not for me). I told the group to order me a hot chocolate with oat milk, and that I’d go the chippy next door as I know they chips as per my dietary requirements (gluten free, yeast free, dairy free - 0 contamination policy) with the intent of eating my chips outside with my hot choccy whilst I waited for the others! Whilst I was next door ordering my chips, one of the group text and told me they couldn’t do the hot chocolate because their machine has traces of dairy.. to come back and order another drink. I come back, with my chips still in their wrapping, untouched.. uneaten neatly away. I was about to order a new drink, when the waitress comes over within 2 seconds of me having sat down and she says I can’t eat in there - she was kind and professional. I told her I wasn’t planning to eat, just order a drink.. I’m eating outside.. I can’t eat their food as it doesn’t suit my diet as per my disease. She then went away, and came back and told me I can eat in there and she’d get me a plate, I was thankful! My group got their food and me my drink, and they began dining. Moments later my chips arrived on a plate, along with a very rude and inconsiderate chef giving me a telling off about my chips. He stood over our table with one hand on his hip the other the back of my friends chair. He told me it was unacceptable I’d came in and just ate my own food, and then stated if I’d asked beforehand it would be ok but I hadn’t so that’s a problem. (Seemed like an ego ride for him) he made all our group extremely uncomfortable and ruined our day out. I then tried to explain to him, I hadn’t just ate my food, it was a waitress who suggested I could eat there etc etc - he didn’t want to listen spoke over me, made me feel very intimidated and made me even list all I’m allergic too / can’t eat as per my disease and proceeded to shrug his shoulders at me and say the menu they had is fine and I should’ve again “checked with him first as to what I could / couldn’t consume”. I shouldn’t have to check with a chef if I can consume their food if I’ve looked at a menu and realised I cannot eat anything, and rather than make a song and dance with a chef about what I can eat.. I decide to discreetly eat elsewhere, causing no harm or issues for anyone else. My friends ate here, loved their tea and cakes. I would have loved my drink, and loved my food outside soaking up the scenic views as I’d planned I’d it wasn’t for this whole avoidable uncomfortable situation. I haven’t eaten out in over 2 years because I feel like a pain due to my diet, and I hate making a fuss over it. The last time I ate out I was given cross contaminated food which led to the miscarry of my 5 month baby. Today was the first time I felt comfortable to go out, and explore the lakes with my group and I did so in the best way I could. The chef today ruined my day and also put me off eating out again, as this is exactly the type of situations I try so hard to avoid. Next time, before telling off a customer in front of an entire restaurant, causing a scene making them feel so uncomfortable and someone you know nothing about - only assumptions, please liaise with your OWN STAFF about the situation. As if you had, you’d of got confirmation that if A. Never intended to eat my outside food in your establishment, only order a drink. B. Was directly told by a waitress I can eat inside, it was her idea not my own. I have never in my life wrote a review before, however I do so in the hopes you see this and amend your attitude next time you come across a customer fighting a disease which means her diet is restricted and cannot consume your food.

We popped in as a party of three adults and four children for some lunch. Just after the main group had arrived, an extra grownup arrived. The man responsible for seating us appeared visibly frustrated by this, and when he came over to take the additional order a few minutes later he took out his frustrations by misgendering the additional person. This was upsetting and needlessly aggressive. Clearly for this reason we will not be back again. The atmosphere itself was nice and child-friendly, with a good amount of tolerance for the multiple small children from multiple tables who were running about. It was far more expensive that this would suggest, but in the context of this being a tourist town the value was perfectly fine. The food was perfectly fine: a little less nice than what you’d find in a supermarket cafe.

Sitting 5 people was nearly too much for them to contemplate, I wasn't allowed another look at the menu when my choice of cake turned out to be a pie which they still insisted was a cake, they don't appear to know the the difference between a cake, a pie and a flan and the hot chocolate my daughter ordered was just brown water, no flavour at all, clearly needed more adding. The younger staff were absolutely fine, the others could perhaps do with retraining on how to speak with customers and meet their needs. I'm still shocked at being told I couldn't take another look at the menu. It's a shame, as it has the potential to be a Betty's of Harrogate equivalent.

Was stood in the shop for a good 15 mins before I had to ask to be served. People came in and out before me, the staff didn’t even acknowledge I was in the shop as if I was just browsing when I was clearly stood waiting to be served. Normally go in here for our lunch while at work don’t think I’ll be going again. Not very nice customer service.

My wife and I both had a lunchtime sandwich one was mozzarella ham and pesto on brown cob bun which was toasted. Other sandwich was chicken with black pepper and a hint of lemon in mayonnaise on brown cob bun. Both came with a side salad and slaw. Friendly inviting atmosphere with very fast professional service.

We've made Bryson's a regular stop for lunch in Windemere after receiving consistently good service and great food. The prices are reasonable and everything is fresh and delicious. I usually get the soup and salad combo so can recommend that one! Even if you need a nice place to rest while having a brew and a muffin, this is a beautiful place with a lovely atmosphere (5 stars on the atmosphere!). We'll keep coming back!

Very poor experience in Bryson’s. I have a nut allergy and whilst ordering it felt like it was an inconvenience to the waitress. She came across as rude and abrupt. The food itself was disappointing. The bread was rock solid and the portions tiny. Altogether the poor food quality, miserable staff and sticky tables was not a good start to the day. On the plus side downstairs were very friendly and helpful.

Lovely little cafe and the scone with clotted cream was delicious as was the pot of tea. Lady that greeted us was slightly scary barking at us that there was a 20 minute wait for food! Overall good experience.

Called in for lunch. Decided that the chicken sharing board would be enough for the two of us. Made a mistake. We think it could have fed four. Ended up getting a doggy bag. Really enjoyed it.

Lovely setting to relax and enjoy the views having lunch or just a drink. A few had lunch said was nice. Me personally thought expensive for soup but enjoyed my coffee. Worth it for the views.

Tried the drive thru...waited and waited was nobody home?, Was it closed? Reversed out and entered the shop and waited at the counter and waited and waited....3 or 4 staff just chatting away oblivious to customers. 17:00 pm on Saturday. Outstanding service.

We only wanted a coffee and a cake as it was only 11.15 AM but had to queue for 20 minutes behind people ordering hot food and spending ages deciding what they wanted at the last minute Nice stuff but it needs organising a lot better Guess as its volunteer run it depends very much on what the staffing is on the day They need a separate area for those just having coffee etc rather than a meal
